THIS IS A CLEAN, SWEET, HISTORICAL WESTERN NOVELLA, APPROXIMATELY 15,000 WORDS
When revenge leads Cade Morgan to hold up a stagecoach and kidnap his childhood friend, Isabella Morrow, he discovers his feelings for her are stronger than ever. He suspects Bella feels the same way, so why is she intent on marrying another man? And what kind of future can he offer her now that he's wanted by the law?
Margery Scott is the author of more than thirty-five novels, novellas and short stories in various genres, and is an avid reader of almost every genre other than horror, fantasy and sci-fi.
She lives on a lake in Canada with her husband, and when she’s not writing or travelling in search of the perfect setting for her next novel, you can usually find her wielding a pair of knitting needles or a pool cue.
This was a very short novella with a lot of drama. I got this book for free during fill your kindle day and I thought it would be a cute little western novella. There was a lot of drama but I was bored with it. It was only 63 pages and I felt myself skimming a few times. This just wasn’t for me.
This book was very well written. I was impressed! It's only around 50 pages, but I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I'm not normally a fan of westerns. The characters were well developed and the story flowed well. I got this for free on amazon, so I didn't have high expectations, but Margery Scott writes a great romance story.
I love series stories books that stand on their own as well as being part of a group. I have read two of the books and really enjoyed them. The fact that they are clean is a big plus for me.
Okay so after reading and flipping and reading and shifting through this one and another one of Scott’s, I’ve come to the conclusion that I wouldn’t recommend her writing. Her stories start out promising but slowly become over sexualized and the characters( mostly the male characters) start thinking thoughts that don’t really need to be written... just saying. And my gosh. Why would any of these women involve themselves with a man who has frequented whore houses...? I’m at a loss for words that this author would even think to make her male character this way. Won’t be reading any more books by this author. I’m not going to say it’s outright unclean, as there is no onscreen sex or nudity, buuuutttt there is the fact that these men go to whore houses and are very lustful. I suppose whether or not this is clean is up to the reader. Personally though, not clean. Would not recommend. One star simply because storyline isn’t 100% terrible.
Isabelle is on a stage going home. Her father has convinced her to marry, Edward, a man old enough to be her father. She does not like Edward, but she loves her father and feels she is obligated to him.
The stage is held up by three men and Isabelle is taken hostage.
The man who carries her off turns out to be someone from her childhood. Cade was her best friend when they were children but he disappeared right after his mother died. She has always wondered why he left, where he went and why he never contacted her.
This is a very short story which is fast moving and entertaining.
Isabelle and Cade are strong people. They have grown up in the frontier area of Colorado and they are able to face trouble head on.
I enjoyed this story. This is the first book I have read by Ms Scott. It will not be the last.
Cade has committed his first ever act against the law, but, he had no choice. It was either that or have his best friend from his childhood, Bella, marry the absolute worst man ever! Edward Dobson killed his mother 12 years ago and got away with it since the Sheriff was on his payroll! Only will she believe him? After all the Sheriff ran him out of town the day after for trying to tell. A very great story by Margery Scott that you wont want to put down till the last word and then still want more!
Isabella is to be married to Edward. She doesn’t love him or even really like him but she is being strong armed by her father to marry him. She is on her way home to prepare for her wedding when the stagecoach is stopped and masked men rob them and takes her away.
Cade is out for revenge on Edward because he killed his mother. He grew up with Bella and he doesn’t really want her to end up like his mother.
This short story is the first in a series and is currently free on amazon.
Isabella is kidnapped by outlaws and one in particular seems familiar to her. She discovers that he is a childhood friend, and he has some rather unsettling news about the man she is set to marry.
This a new author to me and this serves as a good introduction to their writing. As it's a short story the plot is straight to the point, so the back story is rather limited, but it's a nice quick read and I enjoyed it.
A memorable story about a man who was seeking justice for a man kidnapped his childhood friend to keep her from making a mistake. She believed him and together with his cousins brought the culprit to justice. The characterization and theme were evident as being excellent
Stagecoach hold up just to kidnap the woman he loved. New concept to start off a good story.
I was very interested in this story as it drew me in from the start. Even though it is a novella, it had enough to keep me interested right up until the end. Now I can't wait to read the other novellas in this series. Very well done.
A short clean romance where justice is finally served. A childhood lost love has returned to save Isabella from the marriage her father arranged. I’m not sure why her father arranged it or where he was in the end of the story but it did end happily and I just ignored the flaw in the story.
Unfortunately, I realized that it is a clean pg-13 read after I'd started reading. I didn't even finish the first chapter because for me clean books make no sense.
No, scratch that. Clean romance books make no sense.
I honestly really like this it was really sweet I wish the story would’ve been drawn a little bit more and it would’ve made a great full length book and then started the series. Cade is just I would love to know more about the backstory and what her dad said, and her wedding and just things like that overall, this is a good short little read and western lovers will enjoy it.
I enjoyed this short story and am glad the Stuff Your Kindle Day introduced me to this author’s work. The story kept me interested. It can be read in one sitting easily. The characters are engaging and the two main characters I was rooting for them to find a way to be together. The trial at the end completed this story. Can’t wait to see what other books or stories this author writes.
I took this book beacausse it was free and as all the others before me said...it.s short!
This is maybe one of the shortest stories i.ve read. I believe that it has potential to become a good novel with some proper edits.
Overall it was cute. The way they solved things was childish, i can.t believe someone would fall for that and for sure i didn.t like the fact that Cade looked a bit of a wick character ...
Love cowboys stories and you're live up to awesome enjoy reading and the takes you spin are great thoroughly delightful characters. True to life people with problems and difficulties, they come alive thank you keep writing and I'll do the reading Carmen
A short and sweet western story. Wonderful storyline. Cade was looking for revenge and hoping to save his old childhood friend from a disastrous marriage.
