What happens when a girl from Earth attends a magical academy... in her dreams?
Amy Laurendeau is just an ordinary orphan. Or so she thinks, until she finds, among her dead mother's things, an advert for a magical Academy. An Academy she can only attend in a ghost form, in her dreams. Dreams that seem too real... Especially when so many things about Amy's life start making sense. As part of the experimental new Distance Learning Department, she is not especially liked by her richer, much more knowledgeable classmates. She will stand up to Martinus Novak, the rich, handsome guy whose friends end up bullying Amy's fellow classmates, not really caring whether she will keep her place in school or not. This, after all, is just a dream, a welcome fantasy from a life of poverty and loneliness. But she will find out that magic is real, and that the dangers she encounters in Marn will follow her to Earth.
Book 1 of the Marn Magical Academy series, which will take you through Amy's adventures as she finds love and friendship.
Great Premise. The story flowed well and it was a fun, quick ride. A magical school for upcoming magicians that were mostly elite families serves as the setting for this story. The main character is a girl that struggles through life and works hard to make ends meet after just losing her mother. She has no idea that magic exists until she applies to attend the magical academy in ethereal form. This series storyline has great potential.
However, I did have some problems with this book. The editing was subpar and there are parts that you had to guess what was happening because they really made no sense. The characters in the story were around 18 but acted more like they were 14-15. If I were not so intrigued by the plot, I would have given this a 2.5 star rating. Here's to hoping for better editing in the next book.
I almost stopped reading because this novel needs more editing/proofreading - there are many grammatical errors, missing words, some errors in word choice...However, the story intrigued me enough for me to keep reading. I'm curious about what will happen to Amy, so I might purchase the sequel.
When I read the blurb about this book, I was a bit skeptical. But I got into it very quickly. I enjoyed it. It was a really fun read. I really liked the interactions between the main characters. The story moved well. You learn a lot about Amy and her place/importance in her world. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series.
I liked the book but it did move slowly in places. Also I liked Amy but didn't understand how she was so accepting of M's behaviour towards her. It felt almost as she was facilitating his behaviour. I couldn't tell whether the author wanted us to like him or not but I would be sad if she did end up with someone who sent cold shivers down her spine
Nope, not for me!! Unfortunately, I DNF! I usually plod on to the bitter end, as someone had taken the time to write it, but in this case I couldn't!! The writing was immature and I really don't believe that it was proof read, as there were words and diction missing throughout the chapters I did read! I shall not attempt further books by this author!
This is a really fun book to read. Amy is an earth girl with a problem. She just got accepted to a new school, not on earth, and now she has to figure out how to fit in. Scary, funny, exciting.
It's good. Could use a little more proof reading as there are some inconsistencies. Starts off pretty slowly but once you start getting into it, it really keeps you. Really felt like it needed more though.
Enjoyed the storyline of this book. A young lady, having had a hard childhood is all of a sudden thrown into another world where she becomes the subject of prejudice. It was a captivating book, so am now looking to read the next in the series.
The book ended too soon. I read all genres of books. Eve though this book seems to be written more for the enjoyment of young readers, I found it most interesting. Just the amount of fantasy that I needed today.
This is a quick easy read and simplistic writing style that I thoroughly enjoyed. A young reader could easily become entranced by the story. I look forward to reading the next Book in the series.
I like the writing simplicity, especially at the beginning. The instructions said to put the booklet under the pillow, say the sentence and three times. And she just did, with no pages long of over analyzing, self debate, drama. Nothing to lose.
Not always that dramaless further into the book, but still less over analyzing than many other book. I think. And I like the book to purchase the next ones, even waiting if there is a fourth coming.
