Three Bears #2

Golden Chaos

Rate this book
Life isn’t a fairytale, but for a few days I got to pretend it was. Now I’m back in my childhood bedroom in New York, eating breakup ice cream and listening to early 2000s emo music.

Whatever, this was the wake-up call I needed. It’s time for Ria 2.0.

No more bailouts.

No more half-baked projects.

No more impulsive decisions.

Simple, right?

Except my ex-boyfriend wants to drop the ex part, the three bears aren’t so willing to let their Goldilocks go, and their mother is more Wicked Witch than Mama Bear.

How am I supposed to pull it together when chaos follows everywhere I go?

Golden Chaos is book two of the Three Bears duet. It is a medium burn, reverse harem romance for readers 18+

4 Get. In. Me. Stars ⭐

There's something to be said about well written snark that has me grinning. Golden Chaos was the final book in the Three Bears Duet and it was a doozy. This was a modern day PNR romance, with a poly relationship between three brothers literally salivating over their mate. It had me flustered and snorting out loud at the same time.

I was glad I’d met all three of my guys at once. I did not have the patience for a Build-A-Harem.

With Aurelia back in New York, Noah, Seth and Eli are not fairing too well. So, they’ve decided to go old school by rescuing their girl while wooing the pants right off her...

Aurelia, notorious for impulsive decisions thought that distance would provide clarity. However, when the brothers land on her parent’s doorstep, it's kind of game over since the boys are there to impress.

I didn’t like to think of myself as weak in the knees for any guy, but at the same time... Three hot dudes all sporting wood in my honor was hella flattering.

I love that the author upped her game in this book. This time around, we witnessed maturity, growth and full disclosure of their love. And this in turn turned up the heat. Throw in a pyscho mother in law and a deranged ex; there was plenty to keep me engaged.

They wanted to keep her. She wasn’t ready to admit it, but she wanted to be kept.

I enjoyed the second book better. The Bernard brothers were in fine form with their courting and prowess in the bedroom, whilst watching Goldie reach her full potential was a joy. And I may have turned to goo with that delightful epilogue. This is certainly my kind of naughty PNR romance. 🐻💙

Loved it.
Can’t really remember…why?…which is a problem. I understand. Since this is a review.
Um…
I liked…the characters?
And the sex?

Wow.
I really need to stop procrastinating on writing my reviews.
It’s getting sad.

Ooh, ooh. Wait!
I remember the fight scene! That was exciting and traumatic and ended really satisfyingly. So.
Hah.
Take that memory. You suck.

It was fun.
Even though I skimmed a little because some parts could really profit from editing down, I still loved the character development. I loved how the author didn't skip any stages and it was a lovely journey.
Absolutely gonna read more by her.

I loved this book! More than I even expected, tbh.

I was so excited for it to come out and it didn’t disappoint me. I love Ria and I can really relate to her and her lack of direction and hot mess status. It took me a while to feel like my life was coming together, just like her, and it’s so rare to find an FMC like that.

And I absolutely love the guys too. Noah had some making up to do, but he was phenomenal in his development. He grew in his depths, and I was so happy to see him do it. Loved seeing him drunk lol.

Seth, I wasn’t expecting his backstory with his bear! I love how Ria was able to tell him what to do when he never listened to his brothers. She brought them really close together once again, and that’s always a great growth to see in books.

And Eli. Eli is my favorite. I love how in love and possessive over her he already was, before she even fully realized. They really proved it to her that they were in it with her, and I loved that!

There were some heavier emotional moments relating to the house fire they endured and their awful mother, but it really helped to bring everything together. Other than that, it was a nice read and exactly what I needed! I would love to see extra scenes of Ria’s family visiting them in Alaska, see how her parents bond with the guys more, and I always want to see how the guys handle pregnancy going into labor!

Great read!

This is the finale to Ria and her bears. Ria is back in New York with her parents and she is miserable but wants to turn over a new leaf and be less impulsive. Noah, Seth and Eli are still in Alaska and realize they’ve made a grave mistake letting Ria go. When they discover that Ria’s ex may be after her, they decide to go to New York and get their girl.

When Ria discovers that her bears are on her doorstep, all her resolve crumbles at letting them go and she wants them more than ever.

“You can be a strong, independent woman and be in love,” Mom said lightly. “One doesn’t cancel out the other. That is the journey I want for you.”

But they all have a lot to work through to get their happily ever after. Not to mention a crazy mother, a psycho ex and a grumpy Noah.

“I was glad I’d met all three of my guys at once. I did not have the patience for a Build-A-Harem.”

I loved this story. It was full of delicious steam, incredible character growth, edge-of-your-seat suspense and SO MANY SWOONS. LOVED IT.

“You’re ours.” “And you’re mine. All three of you.”

Fantastic

This was a fun series. It dealt with some dark themes, but the characters were so enjoyable, it didn't feel so heavy

"I was glad I’d met all three of my guys at once. I did not have the patience for a Build-A-Harem."

😅I wanna be friends with Ria so bad. She speaks true words!

Ria goes back to NY and the guys stay behind. This separation doesn't last long tho, because this bears want their foxy bad and they plan to get her back, plus the di#khead ex is still in the picture so they have to step in and set him straight again.
Noah finally get is head out of his a## and makes an effort.
Their mom is crazy, as in bitchess be crazy for real.

Overall this is funny AF and smutty enough to make you want some bears for yourself😁.

I am a bundle of happiness

This book was the ending I needed. Both books were such a fun, easy read. But this one really took the cake.

All of the characters came together in the most perfect way. Noah shined so brightly in this one he made my heart ache.

I loved the growth that we got to see in all of the characters as they decided to come together and heal. Loved it. 5/5. Could not be happier.

I don't know how but this is even better than the last one. The men going after what they want, the family time, cute dates, mother issues, the Darren plot twist, emotions, learning and loving, of course more smut and the foursome and then the bonding. The kinks had me blushing. That epilogue was just everything. For once I'm regretting that this is not a trilogy. I want more of them. Ria totally has them whipped. The multiple POVs were amazing especially getting the thought process of Noah. I've only read Luxuria by this this author but I am definitely reading more by her.

This book was the perfect mix of obnoxious over-the-top humor and angst. All the characters had a growth arc, although some more than others (looking at you Eli). It’s always nice to have an “older” heroine, and Ria was your typical woman having at crisis about turning 30.
The guys had so so so much trauma to work through that Ria was very aware that she didn’t have. This didn’t exactly make her not aware of her own weaknesses.
Overall, great book!

Spice: 5/5

Amazing book2!!

This story develops so well into this book. There is so much humor and banter, which I LOVE! I really appreciated the relationship progression. The supporting characters were also great. Would definitely reread on a cold winter night!!

Darren and the mother being unhinged is *chef's kiss* just the right amount of drama for this story. I loved reading both the first part and this installment, especially as we dove into the backstories of the bears and built up to a fantastic final chapter. The style of writing is accessible and easy to digest, as all perspective jumps between the four characters and keeps a steady pace. I'm genuinely excited to read more of Rhodes work!

Goldilocks is back in New York but her three bears are coming to rescue her.

This book was better than the first to me because it dealt with the topic of forgiveness and dove into deeper emotions in the menage-maybe-harem. I also really liked Ria’s efforts to create a “New Ria” who works out, eats healthy, is responsible, doesn’t dive in head first… it was just such a relatable post-break up activity.

I spotted the plot points from a mile away but it was a sweet wrap up for Ria and the guys.

This was a brilliant read. I absolutely loved reading about Ria and her bears.

Ria is a very likeable character and I felt I was going through her emotions with me. This story had so many feels for me.. and more.

This author sure knows how to suck her readers in from start to finish. I can’t wait to read more.

This duet was such a fun and lighthearted RH retelling. This time around it's up to the men to earn Ria's attention after her breaking into their home initially brought them together and now she's gone home to New York. It doesn't take long for all the guys (even the grumpy bear Noah) to realize how important she is to them. Of course Noah has his own issues to work through especially regarding the fire that took their parents lives when they were children. He's haunted by his past and it makes finding happiness in the after to be impossible. Ria is patient and even she realizes her leaving may not have been the right decision. I liked how the guys also got to know her parents and braved taking a plane all to win her over. It was really sweet and the banter as always was pretty funny. I am def looking forward to her friend Lou's duet and more from this writer.

Okay, this was a pretty good addition/conclusion to the story, I just have one complaint against ANY reverse harems made up of or containing brothers: WHAT ABOUT THEIR KIDS???? Huh?? Like, they would be half-siblings but also cousins depending on who their father was!! I just never feel that great about BROTHERS sharing a girl 🙄. But, okay, ranting aside, I enjoyed this book 😊 👍🏼.

FIVE STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
alright y’all, i’m going to keep this short, sweet & to the point.

first off, colette has officially become my top RH author, and she is easily in line with my all around favorite author- suzanne wright.

she has not written a single book that i haven’t totally loved. her writing, world building, & turn around time is fantastic. i can’t even describe how much i enjoy her character development, and this woman writes a redemption arc unlike any other. she hasn’t been writing very long, but i’ve already seen such an improvement in her style and abilities already, which says a LOT.

i never have to worry if i’ll like one of her books, because duh, of course i will- and can i just say how much i appreciate her books/ series give as much as is needed, but not more? long series definitely have their place, but you don’t always need an 8 book series to get your point across. her standalones, duets & trilogies make my heart sing. they’re the perfect length!

now that i’ve gotten the author gushing out of the way, (sorry not sorry), onto the actual book.

(this part may contain some mild spoilers) ‼️

first off- noah’s redemption arc. this was handled so well. the attention brought to the mental health aspect is SO APPRECIATED and i cannot express how happy this made me. therapy indicates real change, and acceptance that somethings wrong. i freaking loved this part, and how real it is.

next- the sex scene after everything went down. THANK YOU for the reality you brought to this scene- the fmc experienced something traumatizing. she’s gonna have some lingering “issues”, and i absolutely love how this wasn’t brushed off. she expressed her triggers, they were respected, and then they moved on. this small, seemingly insignificant moment probably made the whole book for me. i’m so tired of fmcs being through something HORRIFYING and then it’s just brushed off.

i worship at your alter, ms. rhodes.

lastly (i know i said i’d make this short and sweet, and while i’m kinda failing, i’m trying okay!! lmao) while i could go on and on about a number of things, i just want to stress how much i appreciated the realness and awareness brought into the storyline. i felt like i connected with the characters on a whole different level, even though i already loved them. eli definitely stole my heart, but the twins are not far behind. 😉

all in all, this duet was a seriously fantastic read, and i definitely suggest you add this author to your must read list. (yes, the author! not just the books!)

4.5 Cuddly Daddy Bear Stars

I adore this story! I’m always a bit skeptical when reading fairytale retellings, so when I initially saw this book, I passed it up and continued to pass it up over and over again. That is, until all my Goodreads buddies wouldn’t stop raving about how much they loved it.

So I put on my skeptical big girl panties and decided to give this duet a try. I have to tell you that I was hooked within the first chapter! I read straight through both books in a day, lol.

In this series, we have Goldie, aka Ria, aka Aurelia, who is almost 30, and her life is a wreck. She is irresponsible and codependent, somewhat flighty and indecisive; she makes terrible choices and jumps headlong into more bad decisions. One day, after breaking up with her skeevy ex-boyfriend, Ria is high and lost in the woods; she sneaks into a cottage, makes herself at home, and falls asleep. Enter the three bear-shifter brothers: Noah, Seth, and Eli.

🐻 Noah is the grumpy, growly Daddy Bear.
🐻‍❄️ Seth is the quietly dominant artist (Noah and Seth are twins).
🧸 Eli is the youngest brother. He's exuberant and a carpenter.

I loved the first book in this series, but the second book was EVERYTHING. We get to see growth from everyone, individually and as a group. I loved how the three guys bonded with her parents, how Noah finally opened up, how the brothers started communicating and getting along better, and how Ria and her family grew closer.

You should most definitely read this series. Even if you hate retellings, this one is worth it. The sarcastic humor in this book is especially amusing. I love being inside Ria’s quirky brain. I loved the multiple POVs. Read it!!

This is a review for the DUET. So both books. Spoilers….
Book 1- 4 stars
Book 2- 3stars

This was a cute light and mostly funny and mostly sweet (I’m looking at you Noah👀) duet.

It was a retake on Goldilocks with grumpy bear shifters and all.

At the start she is moving in with her boyfriend of six months out into the middle of nowhere Alaska into his small cabin in the woods. She finds out he is cheating and has lied to her about being a shifter.

See Ria ckk ok es from a family of fox shifters but she isn’t one. She is a carrier which is just a human that carried shifter babies. They are not well respected and no one wants to mate with them.

She takes off and leaves her BF making him a ex and wonders through the forest for hours until she comes upon a cabin. Shes is tired and sore and lost so she takes refuge in the house until the bear shifters that live there come home to find a beautiful woman sleeping in one of their beds.

‼️And so begins the shenanigans.
Insta love
Lots of sexy times
Miscommunication
1 real grumpy bear shifter that boarded on complete asshole
OMD cause he is cra cra
Parents coming back from the dead
Trauma
Irresponsible behavior
Fun, light and sweet times

‼️MY BIGGEST ISSUE WAS….
All theses characters should have been 10 years younger and I could have understood and looked past ALOT of their issues and lack of maturity

‼️Book 2-
Kinda not moving fast enough it’s the same stuff from book one for like 35-40% simple why am I reading the same shit! They want her she doesn’t think they do her thinking it’s temporary and Noah not wanting her at all.

🥀 Hero:
This is a RH
Eli- the playboy cinnamon roll
Seth-quiet Dom
Noah- the ASS

🦋 Heroine:
Ria - not a shifter but a CARRIER so a incubator for shifters lol her womb is perfect for breeding. looking for peace and quiet she moves to Alaska and meets Darren her BF. They decide to
Move to a his cabin in the woods.

💭 POV:
First person 4 POV

😡/😍 Angst level:
Low

❤️‍🔥 Sex & Burn Rate:
Fast 2 1/2 🔥🔥 it was ok. To much focus on trying to be kinky so the chemistry and romantic connection suffered. For me I wasn’t impressed.
2 guys are pretty all about her early in 1 is a hold out but also a complete dick!

🌓 Push/Pull:
Only from Noah he doesn’t come around till 55-60% if book 2!!! So yeah! It wasn’t my fav plus his trauma kept him from any grovel. She was a doormat for him. I get his trauma but a I’m sorry just did t cut it for me. Also he didn’t really have to work to win her. As soon as he admits his feelings she is spreading her legs. This could have been handled differently

☠️ OW/OM Drama:
No OW at all

🤮 OW/OM Sex / Fluid or DNA Exchange:
None
No OP after they meet

🤬 Cheating:
None

👰🏼‍♀️ Virgins:
None!
-Love me a experienced h she has explored her kinks sex
-All the men have sex occasionally when they want they go to a sex club.

Umm there is definitely kinks going on in this one and mild BDSM/ I personally felt it was talked about WAY WAY to much and became like a thing. It should have just happened naturally. Also the hype was a huge let down lol 😂

⛈️Separation/ 3rd Act Breakup:
Yes at the end of book 1 she leaves
2 weeks separation
Then again in book 2 they leave her in NYC and she follows days? A week later.

🎧AUDIO
Good! Duet narration ♥️♥️
It was great but the h voice quivered to much for me at times… pet peeve it’s a me thing.

Safety⚠️Triggers🗡️:
2 of her harem have trauma from a fire when they were 15. Their parents died.
Noah allows his issues from giving in to his feelings for most of the duet. He does seek help EVENTUALLY after he is an asshole and fucked everything up and rejects the h time and time again.

🌈Epilogue:
Yes 4 years later mated with 2 kids

🥂HEA:
Yes

My rant about Noah cause the author messed up with him

‼️Noah didn’t miss her didn’t regret anything. Don’t want her he only wanted his brothers back it is really annoying that she pines for him while he could care less about her… well at least from his POV. Then BAM! 💥 he loves her???? What!? Fucking BS the change was literally OVERNIGHT. And I’m sorry this would have played out better if the author started his turn around in the beginning of book 2 not 55% in.
‼️He did some hurtful things to her and was only worried about his brothers he didn’t seem to really care about her..
If you have a grumpy H make him more grumpy and less asshole . If he is hurtful Make him grovel and work for her don’t just say it’s trauma and then everyone has to forgive cause then it’s not his fault.

‼️She was a doormat for him. She was the one who had to chase him and I hate that cause for all the sad emotions we heard from her about him he had NONE. No emotions. That’s not fun to read author.
Noah walked away pushed away time and time again. Showed no signs of wanting her. Made no actions to man up. Sorry Maybe if we had some emotional torment from him it would have been easier to feel compassion for him. I mean him being horny for her isn’t the same as feelings.

My opinion is just that… MY OPINION.❌
I know we all get passionate about our favorite reads and characters but we should respect each opinions a thoughts. ~Thank you

This was cute but a little slow

This was a cute duet with Ria and her mates. I felt like things took a while to get going and it was quite obvious what was going to happen when certain things were being discussed in front of a certain individual. I definitely did not like that Noah and his brothers didn’t look more into their Mother’s sudden appearance and find out what she was doing and how she survived the fire. I also didn’t like how not once did they ever shut her down for her poor words, or her behavior in their own home, mother or not, long lost or back from the dead or not. She was completely difficult and I’d have liked to see her kinda of put in her place by them at least a few times a bit sooner than we did.

The culmination of the story was obvious to me and especially once everyone left Ria a lone. That was a seriously sucky mistake especially since no one verified that Darren was gone gone. So technically the threat to Ria was still around.

I did like the book though but once they finally mated I would have liked to have seen them get pregnant maybe seen a little bit of that part of life happen before we jumped straight into an epilogue 4 years into the future with established children and everything. I still enjoyed the story though.

Cheeky Fairy Tales
Three Bears Part One
Gilded Mess
Three Bears Part Two
Golden Chaos
Authour: Colette Rhodes

I absolutely adore these characters. I laughed, I cried, I felt their pain and hope that they all could find what they needed from each other. But of course, for these characters, nothing is ever easy. They all lived through some form of trauma in their lives. I completely lost myself in Colette's writing and picked up so many teenage memories with each joke or reference that came out of these characters that made me laugh throughout these stories. By far, my favorite retelling, I became obsessed with this book pretty quickly.

Ria is exactly what these bears need to come into their lives. She helped each of them grow, and in return, they did the same for her. I think I loved this story so much because Ria reminds me so much of myself.

I couldn’t get enough of the love these characters had for each other; they all struggled with their feelings for each other. Each of them had a reason to hold back, and it made for such an amazing story to see them overcome their inner turmoil. I can not say enough about how amazing this series is. As soon as I was done, I jumped right into Little Red. I also recommend downloading the bonus scene because hot damn it was spicy and just so perfect for this story.

Reva, thank you for suggesting this series. I was hooked from beginning to end.

Colette Rhodes has done it again with this sequel to Gilded Mess! I have loved getting to spend more time in this world and am sad to see this be the end of Ria, Eli, Seth, and Noah. However, I am looking forward to the spinoff series which will feature Lou and her men (atm only Nick, but I’m sure we’ll be introduced to other guys eventually). As an author, Colette does a great job of giving each man enough time in the spotlight, while still carving out some scenes for the group as a whole. I can’t wait to see what other work this author will put out in the future, as I am now one-clicking every book that will be released from her!

Loved this duet so much I bought the duet hardback (absolutely gorgeous)! The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages! Love, love, love that this story starts where book 1 ends, not all books do this! Ria was such an amazing character and her men, whoa! Colette did a wonderful job with this duet! She has become a one-click author for me!
