About the author

Ron Ripley

252 books514 followers
Ron Ripley is a husband and father surviving in New England, a place which seems to be getting colder every day. He grew up across from a disturbingly large cemetery where he managed to scare himself every night before going to bed. Mostly because of the red lights that people put in front of the headstones. Those things are just plain creepy to a kid.

Ron enjoys writing horror, military history and driving through the small towns of New England with his family, collecting books and giving impromptu lectures on military history to his family, who enjoy ignoring him during those dreadful times.

This has been a wonderfully, goosebump producing series that I hated to see end, but knowing this author there will be plenty more like this. I read the first 5 in the series as they came on the market, but for some unknown reason I had forgotten that there was a #6 book. These books do diffidently need to be read in order as they continue from the one before.

All of the characters appeared in this one, which was great... Shane, Frank and Tom who were busy saving the children in the orphanage from Alex’s experiments. Alex...who was once a great kid that turned evil after a head injury (felt sorry for him in this book and ended up liking Timmy), and what an ending! Now I need to find out what happens to Shane, Jacinta, Tom, Victor, Frank, Timmy, Carl and Eloise.

As the monstrous child Alex Kallistos puts into play his "final experiment" at a Massachusetts orphanage, ghost hunter ex-Marine Shane Ryan collects his damaged and tattered collective to spring into action to save the children and ultimately to stop the murderous, vicious, insane, child-monster. Every moment inspires soul-searching and revelation of past history as all around Shane, his companions suffer brutal injury or death.

Caution: ramped up gore and brutality. War memories. Children endangered.

Absolutely thrilling......as usual!

This series has been brilliant throughout, Ron Ripley certainly knows how to develop well plotted storylines and fill them with great characters.

In this book Shane Ryan continues his quest to destroy Alex Kallistos with the help of his friends, both living and dead. The interaction between Alex and Timmy made me laugh at times and even though Alex was totally mad I couldn't help but feel sorry for him as it wasn't his fault. When Timmy was first introduced in the Worthes Village series I commented at the time that he'd be a great character and indeed he was.

I can't wait for another Shane Ryan series featuring his ghostly friends (and enemies), and the rest of his team.

Highly recommended!!!!

The ending took me a bit by surprise but it was a very good conclusion.

Alex has continued to deteriorate, and his behavior is even causing one of his closest ghost friends, Timmy, to question him. Shane is still determined to find and stop Alex, but the decision is one that is tough for him. Knowing that Alex is still a young adult, Shane grapples with the knowledge that he has to end the tyrant.

Oh my goodness, this book! I was not ready for it to end! This was an amazing series, and I look forward to seeing more from this author!

Best of the series

I have read many of the scare street series books and this series is my favorite. Shane Ryan is the best of the best he has done a lot of bad things but always for the greater good. Every series is scary and hard to put down. I binge read them like some folks watch tv.

I always love the continuing story of Shane and his friends. The ending to this book was a bit sad. I hope that sometime in the future, Shane can find true happiness. I also hope that his adventures continue.

Can’t get enough

I never get tired of the stories with Shane Ryan in them. Poor Timmy, I’m glad he was the one to take care of Alex. This makes me want to go back and read the VILLAGE series again until the next book comes out.

Great read

Loved it. I read it in one shot. You need to read the other Shane Ryan books first though or you'll be lost! It was full of dead, full of action, full of gore and suspense as well as some interesting twists.

I read all 6 books in this series back to back. These are not standalone novels as the main antagonist is not dealt with until the finale of book six.
I enjoyed this book best of although each novel was excellent and full of evil ghosts and some good ghosts. My first Ripley book was the Berkley Street chronicles and they got darker as each of the 6 books unfolded. I highly recommend Ron Ripley novels and, if you can suspend reality for a while, then belt up for the ride of your life!
