Mia’s biggest nightmare is about to manifest—her mother is coming to town with her husband du jour in tow.

Never mind the sorry state of the garden, the hormonal inches insulating Mia’s waist, or the Orca-sized cat that likes to rest her girth on Mia’s head in the middle of the night when she’s too tired to object. Mia has a new job to show off and a blossoming romance with a man guaranteed to win her mother’s stamp of approval—not that Mia cares what her mother thinks. She’s a middle-aged woman with her own life and…

Okay, she totally cares.

When a resident is killed in the middle of a parade, the whole town of Newberry is abuzz and Mia’s mother is aghast by the brush with violence. With her mother and Jurgen hovering in her orbit, Mia resolves to stay both ‘normal’ and out of police business. Unfortunately, the psychic part of her has other plans.

Can Mia learn to march to the beat of her own drum and embrace her abilities in time to catch the killer or will the parade of horribles claim yet another victim?

Drive Me Daisy is the third book in The Bloomin’ Psychic series.

Annabel Chase remains one of my favourite cozy mystery authors but this series is just taking me ages to warm up to. Don't get me wrong, it's fine, but it's been lacking a certain spark. In fact, I've been sitting on this book for about three months now. I'm glad I pushed through because I did end up liking it, though Mia's mother is... a lot, in a way I don't necessarily get the appeal of.

Drive Me Daisy is Book 3 in the Bloomin' Psychic Series by Annabel Chase.
Mia is dealing with her biggest challenge yet, a visit from her mother and her mother's husband.
Mia's mom Madeline is so beyond critical and overbearing , Mia can't wait for the short visit to be over. Unfortunately, there is a murder and her mother's husband Jurgen is the prime suspect.
As much as Mia doesn't want to get involved she needs to investigate because until he is cleared mommie dearest and husband have to stay in town!

Its nice to see Mia at her new job at the newspaper , its fun because she is selling advertisements and going to businesses in person and its great to learn more about the local shops.

This is such a good paranormal womens fiction cozy series. It is hilarious. The characters are well developed and I laughed so many times!!!! The mystery is well written and kept me guessing. I had NO IDEA who the murderer was until the end.

I really like how the romance between Mia and Dane is progressing along as well.

Looking forward to reading the next book in this series and see what Mia is up to next!

Such a delight!

I am loving this series! Mia seems to be settling in and beginning to build her own community; solving the mystery is almost secondary to the inner progress she is making. The relationships are engaging, the mystical elements are used judiciously, and I love the direction Book Three appears to be taking this series. Perhaps the garden isn't all that is bloomin'...

Fun series

I have enjoyed all three of these books and look forward to the next one. At 78, I enjoy books with mature intelligent women and even though she is almost half my age, it beats dealing with nothing but teenagers and 20 somethings. I would love a series where the main charcters were 70+ and not considered doddering senile old fools, even if they have rotten functional memories. That's the memory that goes first and drives us insane... You will recognize it when you can't remember why you walked 10 feet into the next room or where you put your icewater...that glass you poured 10 minutes ago. Anyway, looking forward to the next book.

Extraordinarily entertaining Paranormal women’s fiction series

This is an extraordinarily entertaining paranormal women’s fiction series. A great cast of characters and a fun and entertaining storyline. Mia Thorne is 42 years old and spent most of her life living in New York city working her butt off for unappreciative bosses who are jackasses and tyrants. She basically jumped from job to job boyfriend boyfriend and was never really satisfied with either. Until one day she thought she was in love with her boyfriend and was going to ask him to marry her by doing a small flash mob scene where she worked. Instead her boss came back early fired her and her boyfriend who is a douche bag broke up with her because he had a new girlfriend kicked her out of his apartment and now she was basically out of work and homeless. She got a call from her mother Who she also did not really get along with but her mother told her about and inheritance from her great aunt that Mia had inherited. With not many other options me a packed up her things and went to the small town do you find out what was happening and what was up. She inherited her great aunts house and ornery cat and a new life.
Read on to find out all that happens in her new life of mystery magic and Mayham. A fun and entertaining read.

“Should we wait this out in the kitchen?” Patrick whispered. I popped one eye open. “That might be best. It’s too much pressure if I can feel you both watching me.” It gave me flashbacks to childhood when my mother would hover behind me making disapproving noises while I loaded the dishwasher. She wouldn’t bother to wait until I left the room to rearrange the dirty bowls the way she wanted them.

That paragraph/excerpt above is me and my own mother. My mother is so OCD. Nothing I do is ever good enough either. Ugh. So, I relate to Mia and isn’t it great when you’re reading a book and the character so much relates to your own life??

This is a great series! Mia, the main character is funny and very snarky (she is originally from New York, so she has chops!) There have been a couple of times I’ve literally spit my drink out in a spray as I read something Mia says.

I like her friends Scarlet and Patrick. Such likable characters and fun to be around.
I said it before and I’ll say it again - 42 years old is not 60! I swear the way the author writes about Mia’s ailments - hot flashes, vision loss, creaky knees, etc - you’d think Mia is older than her young 42. This fact bothers me more than anything.

Other than that, wonderfully funny and captivating series!

Mia is dismayed when her mother comes to town, with husband number three in tow. At least Mia now has a job and a beau, although she refuses to let her mother, Madeline, know she’s sort of dating a lawyer for fear her mother will have them married before she leaves town. In an effort to keep her mother distracted, Mia takes them to a local festival. Too bad someone was murdered, and Madeline’s husband, Jurgen, is the one holding the murder weapon. He claims he pulled the knife out of the woman’s back, but he’s not allowed to leave town during the investigation. Mia had no intention of getting involved again, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Mia is even willing to try out the psychic abilities her friends, Scarlet and Patrick, insist she has. She’ll do anything to speed up the investigation and hasten her mother out of town.

This was as lite and laughable as the first two books in the series. I love Mia’s wit, and I love the enormous cat, Ophelia, that she inherited from her Aunt Hazel. Mia’s abilities, or intuition as she prefers, lead her to question certain people that weren’t even on the police radar. It was entertaining to watch her as she tried to juggle reluctant hostessing duties, avoid being seen with Dane, deal with his exasperating brother, Derek, and try to find out who killed the victim.

Lots of laughs and fun! Five stars!

Good

Picking up a couple of weeks after the previous book, Mia is dealing with her difficult mother visiting her for a few days. When Jurgen, her mother’s husband is accused of murdering a young woman at the flower festival, Mia is quick to start investigating- after all, she doesn’t want her mother hanging around too long, especially since she is certain Jurgen can’t possibly have done it, and she has the assist of her burgeoning powers.
With the help of Dane, Patrick, and Scarlet, (and the advice of Sheriff Tuck), Mia starts following the trail to the real culprit.

This is an entertaining paranormal cosy mystery, with a mature heroine (who definitely seems to be acting about a decade older than her years… except when she’s acting like a teenager!) whose snarky tongue frequently gets her into trouble. With the friendly (for the most part) residents of Newberry making for an interesting cast of characters, we get to watch as Mia finally starts to believe in herself.
The mystery is interesting, the trail leading to the murderer even more so, and I’m enjoying watching Mia find out about all her special gifts.
This is a good read for PWF and Paranormal Cosy Mystery lovers alike.

Mom, Mums, and Murder

The third installment in the Bloomin' Psychic Series finds Mia getting ready to host her Mother and her husband, Jurgen. During the parade portion of the town's festival, a woman is murdered. Worse, is that the man found holding the murder weapon is Jurgen! Of course, Mia investigates; mostly because she wants her hyper-critical mother to go home.
This novel felt rushed and lacking in the charms which made the first two novels so wonderful. Characters readers have fallen for barely make appearances in this book, and when they do interact, it seems glossed over. The richly woven threads which gave readers a lush tapestry of Mia's friends & new life in Newberry in the first 2 novels is non-existent in this story. Overall, it was disappointing and seemed shorter than the other novels. I do not feel as though Drive Me Daisy advanced Mia's story. It was an interesting read, but it felt lacking and didn't reach the lofty heights set by the previous 2 books.

Family time..

.. when Mia's mother, Madeline, and her husband Jurgen come to visit things don't go well..

Jurgen ends up a suspect in a murder when he tries to help a young woman who has been stabbed. Madeline is not happy about anything much but that is no surprise to Mia.

Once again she feels obligated to help solve the case if only so Madeline goes home and see he can resume her relationship with "Dean" the motorcyclist with tattoos she made up in a flurry of worry that the second she saw Dane she'd try and book a wedding.

It's not bad.. it's not great.. it's ok.. the editing has improved.

Momma’s Here: Oh Joy!

Poor Mia: her dreadful mother, and husband number three are here for a visit. To make matters worse, hubby number three is the main suspect in a murder. Mia needs to find the real killer so that she can sent her mom and mom’s current hubby packing. She will,of course, while learning more about her abilities along the way. On a personal note, why not refer to aunt Hazel by what she was: Mia’s great aunt? It sound less awkward than my dad’s aunt.

And yes, Annabel, curing ED can save lives. 😉

Such a feel good

I love this point in a series where the heroine is getting comfortable and branching out. So her parents have come to visit, actually, the mom with her 3rd husband. Then there is a death, and the person who looks guilty needs to be proven innocent. But you just know that the prosecutor is going to take the easy way out. Because, if you’ve been reading this series, you know that Derek is just a why-work jerk. Meanwhile, descriptions of the made up boyfriend (to hide Dane from mom) are hilarious. Classic mom problems, if you know or have one of those moms.

What a breath of fresh air after the recent reads. I'm really liking this series.

However.. I seriously do not like her mother. If she stays in the background, fantastic. I feel like these books are a little on the short side but it's not glaringly obvious like some previous books I've read. (Where they have to rush to "solve" the murder suddenly.) And there's not tons of rehashing like other series.

I am glad the wait for the next book isn't too bad. I'm already looking forward to it.

Would I read again? Yes.

Why is it finished???

I cannot be happier than knowing that there will be a fourth book in this series, even if I have to wait a few months for it.

Why?

Because the series is that good and funny and only makes me crave more of Mia, Patrick (love him so much!), Scarlet, Ophelia, Wilson… and Dane, of course (he’s so dreamy!!!).

But let’s face it: as much as Jurgen is a darling, I understand why Mia wants to have as little to do as possible with her mum, because Madeline is a real pain in the… neck!

Awesome!!

This series is awesome! I adore all the characters and they are very relatable in just about any generation or year. Very well written and I am so glad I stumbled upon this series. As for the last book...February?? Ppplllease try to make it sooner, I just can't wait to read more! If at all possible don't stop at 4 books...this could be a continuous series that could go on for many many more books. For every plant and skill another book could be written. So many adventures!!!

I still don't like the main character, and it is saying something that the story and OTHER characters are pulling their weight to keep me interested. Psychic or not, this chick needs a heads up in many ways, one minute she's so self-absorbed I'm ready to stop listening, the next she's whining and putting herself down to point again, where I'm ready to stop listening. I have never encountered a story/series where I really couldn't stand the main character and kept listening/reading, and I find it fascinating.

This series is pretty silly - as cozy mysteries tend to be. However sometimes in most cozies I find myself really annoyed with the fmc - while Mia toes this line at times, other times she really makes me laugh out loud. She also has more self-esteem than many other cozy heroines.

Anyway, it is a lighthearted and entertaining cozy mystery with some paranormal aspects and I plan to continue. I do wish the audiobooks were available through the library, they are purchase only which will definitely slow me down

I‘m starting to warm to the series. This book was so far the best - and good enough to change my mind and check out the next book in this series after all.
Mia was more settled and less in denial. The visit of her mom and her husband was an interesting change in the mix and I also enjoyed her gaining her feet in her new job. I still think she’s too forward in her interrogations most of the time, it ridiculous that anyone is answering her questions. And there needs to be more magic. Also the case was on the weak side.
So yeah, mixed feelings. But there’s hope for Mia.

These books are so easy to read and just downright delightful.
Being the 3rd book in the series we get more of an insight into the main character Mia who is funny, witty, sarcastic, vulnerable and gradually getting to grips with both her new life in Newberry and her new status as a growing witch/psychic. With yet another murder to solve, starting a new job and dealing with her mother she has to develop her powers, investigate and sell ads all at the same time. She is a busy bee.

yet another fantastic installment

My kind of series

This series is one of the best reading adventures I have had. The heroine is a delight; the man/men in her life handsome and links to the investigative side of her life; and the friends she makes in each book, ones I wish I had. Throw in a cat and plants to talk to, plus a magical garden, what more could you ask for. You will discover more layers as you read along, something I hope you all do.

Another murder mystery falls into Mia's lap, and this time she needs to clear her mom's new husband's name. The stakes are enhanced by having her relatives stuck in her house, as they are forbidden from leaving town by law enforcement. Mia continues to meet interesting new characters, learn more about her new hometown, and developing her skills as she also experiences some good personal growth. Her friends are a delight, and, of course, we get more Ophelia and the garden!

When Mia's mother comes to visit, the unspeakable happens. Her mother's husband is found with a murder weapon in his hands a community festival. It looks bad for him and her mother is frantic. Mia is determined to find the killer and clear his name. In the meantime, she attempts to keep her mother away from Dane to preserve his sanity and to prevent her mother from ruining the relationship. It is funny, sweet and hopeful.

Who takes a knife to a parade, unless they plan to use it?

Mia's mother and her husband come to visit. While he's nice, Mia can't be around her mother with success. The visit not only stirs up old painful feelings but also brings another mystery to be solved. At least she gets to meet more people including her neighbors. What a cast of characters, I would love to have friends like hers.

Wonderful series!

Ms. Chase is one of my favorite authors! Her books are always well written and great reads. I love her characters in this series. Mia is like someone I’d love to be friends with! She’s caring and loyal. She and I would get along great as we share the inability to have a poker face!

Looking forward to her next adventure.

Thank you Ms Chase for another winner

I love the easy going characters in this series. Mia solves another murder while hosting her uptight mother and her husband. Shes learning about her abilities, juggling a job and a new relationship with Dane. If you’re looking for something funny with a bit of romance and paranormal this series is for you.

Good book

I love this author and have read all her series. But recently they've started leaning more toward a "middle age" (around 40) genre. Which is fine, but the main character acts and is described as if she's 60 or older. Besides that, they are great reads and I'd still recommend them to anyone looking for a fun light read.

Still enjoying this series. Still packed with wit and mystery. I loved the main character from the beginning of the first book, however, she has become even more fantastic. As I've been along for the ride, she has grown leaps and bounds and there is still more to discover. Eagerly awaiting the release of the next book!
