His Curvy Librarian #1

Talk Wordy To Me

Rate this book
They say librarians are old-fashioned. I’m anything but.
As a 23-year-old woman I have my whole life ahead of me, and I’m in no rush to settle down.
But my favorite patron of the Golden Creek Library has a different opinion … and at 72, Charles McArthur is hard to argue with.
He wants to set me up with his grandson and I don’t have the heart to say no.

When my date comes to my door, I am oh-so-glad I said yes.
Chuck McArthur is a tall, dark, and handsome man who happens to love books as much as I do. He calls me Cookie, just like his gramps, and I’m more than eager for him to have a taste. Luckily for me, he likes a woman with some curves, and lucky for him, his dirty talk is quickly becoming my favorite sound.
Best part? Chuck and I want the exact same thing: a no strings attached relationship

But when tragedy strikes, everything changes.
I may like it when he talks wordy to me … but maybe I need more than talk. Maybe I need forever.

***4 STARS***

This was an absolutely adorable novella.

Cassidy is a local librarian who oversees a senior book club. One of the club members is after Cassidy to date his grandson Chuck. Chuck is a successful realtor and is not looking for love but when his grandfather asks him to go out with the librarian he acquiesces.

Very well written and very steamy. My first book by this author and won’t be my last. My only drawback with the novella’s is the lack of conflict/angst but the insta love works too.

R A T I N G: 3 stars to Talk Wordy To Me ★ ★ ★

“Is that a hardcover I feel, or are you just happy to see me?” “I’m just happy to see you,” I say. “Always.”

'I’ve only got eyes for the curvy librarian who stole my heart.'

The title of this book did indeed talk wordy to me. With a punnily christened name that gives off the same vibe as Teagan Hunter's Textual series, I couldn't look at this book and not give it some of my time. Talk Wordy to Me is a quickie drama-less, complication-free, bookish-backsplashed romance designed for an easy, prompt and simple reading experience. With short stories you're bound to expect a story appropriated for nimble entertainment, so you'll have to take the speedy transition, curt development and fast path lust-to-love as par for the course. As my first from both Frankie Love and Kaylin Evans, Talk Wordy To Me is a very sweetly straightforward bite of romantic fiction that indulges an expedited romance between a real estate success and a curvy librarian, neither of whom are interested in a long-term commitment, and both of whom who want all the pleasure without all the promise.

A bit about the story: Cassidy's a young early-twenties librarian who runs the senior book club division at Golden Creek Library. Affectionately dubbed 'Cookie' by one of her spiffy septuagenarian book club goers, she's constantly refusing to entertain a blind date with his grandson. Until she doesn't. Wanting to explore and open herself up to a bit of adventure, she readies herself for a blind date and is stunned by the man who shows up. The grandson in question is Chuck McArthur, and also not expecting a woman who'll wow him, he's surprised by a librarian who has some style, flair and admittedly a bit of a dirty mouth. They both express an interest in a casual bit of fun, but when fun turns feverish, so do feelings. There isn't a particular emotional development here but there is a scene that Introduces and fills in the 'lean on me' ingredient when Chuck has to face an emergency involving the only living family he has left, and Cassidy becomes that support. In places, the chemistry's good, but in others it does leave one wanting for a bit of a better designed connection.

I did anticipate a wittier story with Talk Wordy to Me. There are a few bookish puns and references sprinkled about but I did feel a bit bamboozled that the hero - who's suggested as being a major bookworm - wasn't really a bookworm? He's more a man who now reads his fair share of non-fictional essentials, and their love of books isn't something that Chuck or Cassidy particularly bond over bar asking and answering a few questions. Pacing is a tricky thing to tangle with when drafting a short read. It's not easy to whip up a flammable connection and a believable chemistry In such a short space, and this story doesn't do that extraordinarily, but I think the authors tie up a nice, enjoyable little story here, even if the resulting HEA is a little too perfectionist for what's proffered. This is a 50+ page standalone novella so I'd expect something elementary over something comprehensive. It's a small, sweet, smutty mini-confection to pass some time and to sample these authors like an amuse bouche.

Also something worth a mention is this is one of the few times where I actually liked the celibacy representation; it wasn't overblown, it wasn't condescending, it was reasonably mentioned and accepted, Cassidy decided on making her own choices and it didn't play into the role of a male chest thump. Cassidy was surprisingly bold with her wants and confident with her body and Chuck was awed by it all without minimising her. Despite her inexperience, I like how forthcoming Cassidy was with Chuck. It's beautiful to see a woman taking what she wants and enjoying it because she can. My only gripe would be that in regards to their first sexual encounter (which happens on the first night they meet), and I have to assume the same with every other thereafter casual encounter off-page, that they have unprotected fun. That was perhaps a bit overlooked, especially if neither of them give voice to the right protocols in that situation. It's not quite tantamount or selling the right message for a first-time - casual - sexual experience.

There aren't any stringent rifts or shifts here but you'll get a curvy librarian with her own style and a penchant for vintage apparel, a non-commitment hero who finds it in himself to broaden his pool of people, a matchmaker grandad whose persistence results in a blind date and some bakes, book talk and two added epilogues. Talk Wordy to Me is a very light read. A taste, not a full-feast romance by any means. With easy writing and an easy story, it's very sweet, appealing, adorable, sexy and trouble-free in just about every way. I am looking forward to trying a full-length romance from Frankie Love, and hopefully I'll get all the good stuff bound in a bigger book-lovers package!

Omg !!! this was the most adorable book ever. Cookie and Chuck couldn’t be more opposite if they tried. The only thing they have in common is their love for books and Chuck’s grandpa Charles. He is the sweetest cutest little old man in the planet.

Charles ask Cookie the local librarian who runs his senior book club ,if she will go on a date with his grandson. She declines for at least 2 months. She finally caves and gives Charles her address. She meets Chuck and he is an Adonis and is as boring as a dictionary.

Then him and Cookie decide to play a little game and their boring blind date turns into something more. They decide to take things home and that’s when he rocks her world. This book was the perfect after work treat.

For my romance readers
*instalove
*library puns
*guaranteed HEA
*trilogy
*no cheating
*2 epilogues (1 month & 5 years)

Happy reading everyone

This was a cute idea but unfortunately for me I just wasn’t feelin’ it.

Cassidy is a 23 year old librarian who runs a senior book club. Chuck is a 28 year old luxury real estate broker and grandson to Charles, a senior in the book club. In the description it says he possibly loves books as much as Cassidy does... umm not so much. He can quote The Notebook once apparently but hasn’t even read much of anything else except self-help books and has job-related books on his nightstand. I feel like I was misled a bit, honestly.

Their blind date was dull at first and I totally wasn’t feeling any connection whatsoever. But Cassidy still went home with Chuck and lost her virginity to him that same night.

I dunno, even though they spent more time together over the next few weeks and Cassidy was there for Chuck during a family emergency, I still wasn’t feeling anything from them. I didn’t enjoy reading about how Chuck used to be the type of dude who would compete to grab some blonde chick for one night only while he was at the bar with his friends. He was supposed to be a nice dude and that dropped him down a few notches in my opinion.

And I’m a bit tired of these books being labeled as “curvy girl” romances but all I got was a description of Cassidy’s “plump ass” and “breasts spilling over her bra” Urghhhhh. Is this a marketing ploy or something? To label it a curvy girl romance for the purposes of attracting the plus size reader? I dunno. I’m kind of annoyed at it.

Anyway, it was cute enough but those issues above had me rating this at a 2.5⭐️ and I may continue with the series but that’ll probably be way in the future.

This story is going to give you everything you're looking for in a sweet, short, sexy romance. Cassidy is a librarian and coaxed into meeting the grandson of one of her senior book club members. The chemistry is instant, but, because of the lives they lead, they fight tooth and nail against the pull. That makes it all the more satisfying when they finally give in! A beautiful happy ever after set around a love for books is just really doing it for me. I loved it!

The first part of the series :) Well, intro to the characters, place and background... oh, and yes, seggs (I was told that's how you are supposed to write it to make it acceptable for almost everyone...). Anyways, it doesn't save this to receive 2 curvy kitties for some smiles and lots of cringe for way too much stereotypical handling of the story....

First sentence: “LOOK WHO’S COMING, CASSIDY,” my sister, Nora, teases over my shoulder. “It’s your boyfriend.”
Last sentence: Yes, life is good and I can’t wait to live happily ever after.

Talk Wordy to Me is the first book in His Curvy Librarian series. There are three books in the series. The story is told in dual pov. It’s a short insta lust/insta love read. It’s a good read if you are looking for something quick and on the lighter side.

Cassidy (h) age 23 is a librarian at the Golden Creek Library. Recently, she graduated and has been working at the library several months. Cassidy works at the library with her sister Nora and their best friend Brooklyn. Cassidy is in charge of the monthly senior book club. Nora handles the children’s section of the library and story time. Brooklyn handles the teen section of the library.

One of the elderly patrons of the library names Charles McArthur (72) has taken an instant liking to Cassidy. He has been calling Cassidy “Cookie” ever since she made tea biscuits when they read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for one of the monthly senior book club reads. Charles keeps trying to set Cassidy up with his grandson Chuck. He thinks the two would be perfect for each other. Cassidy is in no rush to settle down, so she keeps telling Charles she isn’t interested. After several months of asking, Cassidy finally agrees to a date with Charles grandson.

Chuck McArthur (H) age 28 isn’t really interested in going on a date with someone his grandfather set up for him. He sells luxury real estate properties and has his own brokerage. Work keeps Chuck very busy, so he has no plans to settle down any time soon if ever. Chuck isn’t a manwhore, but he does pick up the occasional woman for a date/ one night stand. He likes to keep it one and done.

When Chuck picks Cassidy up for their first date neither are what the other expects. Before the date, Chuck thought Cassidy would be a frumpy uptight librarian. Before Cassidy met Chuck, she thought he was probably a pathetic bookworm that needed his grandfather to get a date for him. When they meet, sparks fly between the two. Cassidy think Chuck looks like her dream guy. The date starts off awkward. Cassidy was busy with school so didn’t date much. Chuck isn’t really talking much. Then, they break the ice and really start to talk. Things go so well that Cassidy agrees to go back to Chuck’s place. Chuck finds out that Cassidy is a virgin (she was waiting for Mr. Right and didn’t date much bc she was busy with school). The two share an amazing night together. They really hit it off, but agree to keep things casual even though both secretly want more.

They didn’t use protection when they had sex, but didn’t address the fact that they didn’t use protection. It bothers me when the characters don’t mention the fact that they are having unprotected sex, especially when they talk about wanting to keep things casual.

For several weeks, thing are going great between them. Then, there is a family emergency. The scare has Chuck reevaluating his life and realizing that he doesn’t want to waste anymore time. Life is short. Chuck knows that since his parents died when he was younger. Chuck decides he wants to spend forever with Cassidy. They get their happy ending.

There are two epilogues at the end of the story. The first epilogue is 1 month later The second epilogue takes place 5 years later.I really like that there are two epilogues at the end of the story. I like when authors include an epilogue.

Overall, I thought this was a cute story. I liked the cheesy play on words title. Library puns in the book were cheesy, but cute. I thought Charles and Chuck’s nickname for Cassidy aka “Cookie” was adorable. I liked the side characters. I liked that Cassidy’s mother was a romance novelist. I thought Chuck’s grandfather Charles was sweet. It was a nice quick read.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
I always say mom, grandmothers (this case grandfather), children and fur babies in any story will result in something hilarious. Cassidy is a librarian, sweet, kind to the elderly book club members and shy. One of the book club members sees this and hooks up or attempts to hook her up with his grandson (again grandfather trying to play matchmaker). The chemistry is instant and intense something neither of them expected this intense and try to pretend it doesn’t exist. Fate however has another idea she places them in a situation that neither of them can ignore it and of course they give in to it and will it lead to happiness?

Chuck and Cassidy are set up on a blind date by Chuck’s grandfather. They were only looking for some fun and nothing serious but one look at each other they knew they had an immediate connection. A funny engaging story that was very entertaining. The characters were genuine and entertaining. They had awesome chemistry and found love when they least expected it. I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Don't judge a book by its cover

Talk Wordy To Me is the first book in the His Curvy Librarian series and is a deliciously wonderful start. This story is about Cassidy and Chuck McArthur.
Cassidy is twenty-three years old and for the last three months has been the community outreach librarian at the Golden Creek Library. She loves her new job, the first since she graduated. Part of her job is to run the senior's book club and she does this with a twist, she bakes a treat that goes with the book they are reading. One of the senior's, Charles, has taken a shine to Cassidy and keeps trying to set her up with his grandson, Chuck.
Chuck is twenty-eight years old and owns and runs a successful real estate brokerage company in Golden Creek. He has worked hard to start and build the company which has meant he has a one date rule so he can focus on the business. He was raised by his grandfather, Charles, after his parents were killed in an accident when he was a teenager. For the last few months Charles has been trying to set up Chuck with the new librarian but Chuck is not interested in what he envisions is a dowdy and dull woman with a bun in her hair.
When Charles finally wears down both Cassidy and Chuck and they agree to a date they are both in for a very big surprise......and a lot of hot nerdy book talk. As the saying says...."Don't judge a book by its cover", and for these two they are definitely in for an eye opening date. Before you know it they are having a no strings fling that just keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny, they just can't get enough of each other. But will their fling end or will it continue for the rest of their lives and develop into a deep love?

I really loved this book. The story is well written and has a great plot. The characters are well defined and there is a lot of humor, emotion, love and super hot sexiness. This was a wonderful start to this series and I am so looking forward to reading the next book. A definite RECOMMEND READ!!!

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
Do you know what I love the most about Frankie Love books? She writes quick reads that are fast-paced and filled with sweetness and heat. Most stories are novellas, but I still know the characters and get the whole story without being overloaded with information.
Talk Wordy To Me (His Curvy Librarian bk1) was not different. Frankie Love co-wrote this novella with Kaylin Evans. The length of this audiobook is only 1h 44 minutes, but in that short time, I felt like I got a complete love story that gave me all the feels. The audiobook is told in duet narration by Patrick Zeller and Maeve York. It was my first time listening to both narrators, and I was pleasantly surprised by their lovely voices.
Both were consistent in their narration, and they didn't just read the story but became their character, which added to the story. I definitely am looking forward to listening to more audiobooks from both narrators.
I loved every part of this short audiobook!
As a pallet cleanser, between books or just for fun, any reason is good enough to listen to this fun, sweet, swoony, spicy story.

WHY READ TALK WORDY TO ME?

After graduating college, Cassidy goes to work as a librarian at the Golden Creek Library where she holds a monthly book club for seniors. One of the elderly gentlemen, Charles, in her book club keeps pushing for Cassidy go out with his grandson, Chuck. Cassidy wavers and agrees to a date with Chuck when Charles mentions Chuck is an avid reader. For Chuck, dating isn't a priority. Chuck has spent his time working hard to build up his real estate brokerage. Chuck agrees to a date with Cassidy expecting spending a boring evening with a frumpy librarian. Cassidy and Chuck are both surprised when they see each other the first time. After having a nice dinner, Chuck and Cassidy take dessert to go and head to Chuck's home. Chuck and Cassidy rock each other's world in bed and agree to a no strings fun. Will their no strings fun lead to a full blown relationship? Will Chuck turn to Cassidy when his grandfather falls ill? Will Cassidy and Chuck risks their hearts for a future together? I love Frankie Love! Talk Wordy To Me is a feel good book. I would definitely recommend getting Talk Wordy To Me and any other book by Frankie Love.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Cassidy and Chuck. Cassidy is one of the town librarians. She works the job with her 2 sisters. Every month she holds a senior book club. At the book club she keeps getting asked by Charles about going out with his grandson. Cassidy decides after one of the meetings to say yes. She isn't sure why this guy is needing his grandfather to set him up. When she meets him though she finds that he is the most handsome man she has ever met. Chuck is so busy with his retail business he has no time for dating. He knows his grandfather wants him to have a love story like he and his grandmother had as well as his parents. He so far though hasn't found that one. When he first sees Cassidy he seems kind of stand offish. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Will these two find a HEA or will the have no time for one another?

So So Amazing. These characters grab hold of you and don't let go. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I really enjoyed this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. Charles was an amazing grandfather. His nickname for Cassidy was pretty sweet and I liked that Chuck decided to use it as well. Cassidy was a librarian and she was in charge of the senior book club. Charles had been trying to connect Cassidy and his grandson Chuck for a while. When Cassidy gives in and decides to go on the date, it's a surprise to not only her but to Chuck as well. Chuck was a real estate broker and he was very busy. He wasn't looking for a relationship. Chuck and Cassidy decide to keep things casual, but things have a way of developing when you aren't looking. An unexpected emergency causes them to re-evaluate what they want. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book.

I wanted so much to love this one. It ticks all my boxes: cute, small town librarian, adorable grandpa setting up his grandson, insta love/attraction...but it just fell flat for me. I actually didn't like Chuck at all. When it was his POV, I felt like he was a bit of a jerk. Cassidy (Cookie) kept doing things that were so unexpected for a young librarian, which was fine - but Chuck appeared to not even want to give this a chance and all of a sudden these two are getting major hot tub action. They both kept saying it was just "fun" while going through all the motions of starting a serious relationship. Don't know, I just didn't care for this one all that much. I love Frankie and will read the other books in this series.

Cassidy is a librarian who hosts the senior book club, where Charles is always after her to date his grandson. Chuck works in real estate and his grandfather has been pestering him as well. When both agree to the date, it starts out a little hesitant, but once they get started, the book puns flying and 5 question speed dating, they are fully into each other. The characters are terrific, with plenty of family love and support. The romance skyrockets and turns their worlds upside down. Neither wanted anything serious but that changes almost immediately. Loved the hospital situation when Charles wakes up. Then there is the epilogues, which are unforgettable. This is one I will be rereading again... with plenty of tissues handy... again.

First things first; I love the cover of this book!
Talk wordy to me is the first book in the ‘’his curvy librarian’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. When a sweet old man keeps trying to set his grandson up with Cassidy, will she give in? Chuck isn’t looking for love but his grandfather is relentless, will he give in?
The chemistry between Chuck and Cassidy is clear to see and I really liked them together. I thought they made a cute couple.
I loved Chuck’s grandfather, I thought he was adorable.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more books from this series.

After all the hockey and the drama I've been reading lately, I needed to close out April with a light, fluffy novella... and when I need one of those, Frankie Love always delivers. Our h is a curvy librarian who runs the senior book club where one of her participants keeps trying to set her up on a blind date with his grandson and after some persuasion, she finally says yes. When she sees our H, she's suddenly really glad she said yes. Our H is a successful architect who is finally worn down by his grandfather's insistence that he meet this librarian, so he goes on the date... and finds out that she is probably everything he's ever wanted in a woman, even if there's a big difference in their ages. Surprisingly, the conflict that happens doesn't actually happen in the relationship; the H gets some news that he needs someone to help process and he immediately turns to our h and she just kind of takes charge of things so he can focus and process. I'll admit that I kind of missed some relationship conflict, but I loved seeing them immediately start to work together during a crisis. Of course there's an HEA, but by that point, you already know how it will all turn out.

Totally feel good story! Cassidy is 23,works as a librarian, still living at home with her parents, just starting out in life and wondering where she will go. She is not ready to settle down and wants a little adventure before she does. Chuck, runs a successful real estate firm and doesn't believe in 2nd dates. His grandpa, Charles who reaised him wants to see him settled and happy, tries to set Chuck up with Cassidy. Charles is benignly persuasive and tries each month during senior night at the library. Does Charles wear them down? Do they have anything in common, other than a love of reading? Can Chuck handle Cassidy's Mom and Dad? Nice story. Charles is the Grandpa, we all wish we could have. Nice story. Well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

What a great start to a series. This is the first book in the Curvy Librarian series. She is a librarian, and he is the older patron that wants to set her up with his nephew. She does not want to, but they are both glad when they go on the date. They have things in common like reading, among other things. Neither want a relationship as they are both too busy. They decide on FWB, which works great until it doesn't. There are things that happen in their lives. Can things that happen have them looking for more of a relationship between them?

Finally Charles has talked Cassidy (Cookie) into going on a date with his grandson. Chuck gets roped into picking up Cookie since his grandfather won't let him off the hook to date Cassidy. Chuck figures that she's going to be a boring frumpy librarian who's going to shush him if he talks too loud. Chuck get the surprise of his life. In fact for someone who never dates the woman a second time Chuck keeps going back for more. Such a great steamy, unpredictable, sweet romance. I love the library puns that these two come up with when they are together. Such a fun story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cute, but definitely a bit of insta-love and I wasn't feeling that in this one. They're married just 2 months after meeting and engaged just a few days (maybe a week or two) after their first (blind) date. They definitely have chemistry in the bedroom, but I couldn't really connect with them as a couple since they go from 0 to 60 so quickly.

Cassidy is supposed to be a 'curvy' girl I guess based on the series title, but other than he having a big backside and chest, it didn't seem like she was an actual plus size girl at all. As a curvy girl, that was disappointing.

I did enjoy the library and book puns though. They were cute.

This book felt very short and rushed, even for a novella. The story was alright, and I liked the book humor between the characters, but the romance felt so forced. Chuck and Cassidy felt like fuckbuddies who got shotgun married because of an accidental pregnancy, but there was no pregnancy. There was just two people who met on a blind date, and became fuckbuddies (on a literal whim even though Cassidy was a virgin before this date) in the background of the book. I didn't even get to see the romance develop because they suddenly became a "fun fling" in the span of 2 sentences. Overall, it felt unrealistic, rushed, and there was basically no plotline.

I am leaving a review this time around.

I listened to the book through Hoopla (a treasure) and as always the writing is excellent but the narrators, Maeve York and Patrick Zeller, mad ethe story really come alive.

I love the concept of blind dates and arranged marriages. I have to say most of the time those who set you up are really good picks and if you are really honest in what you are seeking and if the other person does the same, it is great match.

In this book Charles (Sr) is matchmaking and knows that Chuck (grandson) and Cassidy are perfect for each other..all cause of the love of books.

An people wonder why I love books so!!!!!!!!!!!!

3.5/4 Stars ⭐️

Not gonna lie, the blurb reeled me in - I was hooked after reading it. Cassidy is a librarian. She loves her job and all the books. When Charles, one of her favorite patrons, sets her up on a blind date with his nephew Chuck, she decides to go with it. From blind date, to hook up, to friends with benefits to so much more. In the end, Cassidy and Chuck give into their feelings and get their sexy happily ever after. TBR and Enjoy.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
