My dearest mermaid.

Ich weiß auch nicht, aber der Manga ging überhaupt nicht an mich - dabei war der Klappentext eigentlich ganz nett, vorallem das Thema Meermenschen/Unsterblichkeit find ich spannend.

Leider ist der Manga aber im Verlauf nur schlimm, schlimmer, noch schlimmer.

Beide MCs haben eine schlimme Vergangenheit - Umi trägt Meermenschenmale und wurde von seinern Eltern gehasst, dass ging soweit, dass seine Mutter ihn erwürgen wollte - Mikagi wurde von seiner Mutter misshandelt und versucht als Opfer für den verstorbenen Vater zu dienen.
Natürlich finden auch alle anderen Umi als Missgeburt widerlich - das ganze Buch über ist es eigentlich nur negativ.

Dann kommt auch noch dazu, dass der erste Sex aufgrund von einem Akashi ausgelöst wurde, weil es natüüürlich ein Yokai ist, der Menschen horny machen lässt. Ofc wurde gesagt, dass Umi das alles aus freien Stücken gemacht hat, aber das ist ja in allen mangas so, wo es Aphrodisiakums or Omegaverse Rutting gibt. Also ja, not rly nice.

Danach gibt es dann natürlich noch ne Entführung, es wird alles noch schlimmer balbla. Dann noch 2x Sex. Sie lieben sich. Yay.

Umi has spent his entire life being treated like a monster because of the mysterious merman marks covering half his body, until the shrewd medium Mikagi walks into his lonely world and sees him instead of the curse. Their romance is soft and healing, but Hijiki-sensei doesn't shy away from showing just how much abuse, grief, and self-loathing both men carry.

I was genuinely surprised by how bittersweet this was. Beneath the supernatural folklore and gorgeous artwork is a story about learning to believe you're worthy of being loved, and by the end I was rooting for these two broken souls. It's not the flashiest BL out there, but it has a sincere heart that lingered with me long after I closed the book.
