A raw, courageous account of a young woman determined to turn her turmoil into triumph. Small-town girl turned reality TV star Mackenzie McKee has grown up in front of the world as part of MTV's hit reality shows 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom 3, and Teen Mom OG. Fans have experienced the ups and downs of motherhood and marriage right alongside Mackenzie--from difficult childbirths due to her type 1 diabetes diagnosis, to the untimely death of her beloved mother, Angie Douthit. But through it all, Mackenzie never falters in her deep love of family and God. In her new memoir, Mackenzie proves there is more to her than what the glaring spotlight of fame has shown. She confronts a never-before-shared secret that upends her young life, and explores her struggle to gain acceptance in a family where she felt she was the only one who was less-than-perfect. Follow along as Mackenzie learns to stand tall, conquer her mistakes and fears, and straighten her crown in an effort to help others straighten theirs.
I knew a lot about McKenzie because of teen mom and 16 and pregnant when she shared her mom’s passing teen mom OG. I bawled my eyes out but reading her book. I definitely learned some things that weren’t shared on TV. This wasn’t my super favorite book but I enjoyed it. I think this is the first book I actually cried reading because she shared her mom‘s death in the book and it was like I was watching the episode of teen mom all over again it was so sad
I always liked Mackenzie because she was funny and honest. I liked her even more because she said she wants to share her love for the Lord on television. Not many people would have the courage to do that. I love this book because it’s honest and thoughtful. She owns up to everything she’s done even when it’s uncomfortable and sad. I admire her mother even more too because she ran the race God set before her. I’m happy Mackenzie decided to share her experiences with readers.
There is nothing new here at all if you watch the show, and Mackenzie sounds like a nightmare to live with. She also lied about and/or omitted several things, which makes this totally pointless as a “memoir”.
I feel that she skipped quite a bit in her book. It was very Christian which wasn't a bad thing. At the end she references two miscarriages she had but doesn't talk about them at all in the book. She talks about being unfaithful but let's hear more about it. The book was also very very short.
Straighten your crown Mackenzie and keep pushing for what you stand for. You will rise above your history and do good things. Your story is exactly that....yours.
Growing up watching her it was nice to read her raw, unperfect moments from her real poverty and not through a camera lense. I commend her for being real and upfront about her flaws and mistakes, owning them, and being a boss babe and healthy ally for her kids.
This was a mix of things I knew from watching the show, and things I didn’t. I appreciated the emotion she shared and how transparent she was. Def would love another book
This book was very insightful into what is not shown on MTV. Mac has wrote this book so show her ups and downs through out her life. It has given me an appreciation for hustle and wow that was messed up for her bad mistakes. I have a better understanding of why Josh seems so closed off on camera and how she keeps going back to him. After you read the story you too will understand also.
It had a slow start but it did pickup and I liked how raw her story was. While it was sad she truly showed how she was able to live her own life to the fullest. She was very raw and vulnerable in her story
