Booking Dr. Wrong

Tabitha

This whole mess started because a professor doesn’t know how to set up his email.
Despite being the foremost expert in philology and morphology, Dr. Patrick Ryan shows up to my online conference as Dr. Ryan Patrick, sitting on a panel, discussing subjects he knows nothing about.

If my boss finds out, my career is over.

The saving grace? Dr. Wrong does me a solid and pretends to be the guy they expected. Now, I owe him drinks. Doesn’t hurt he’s completely my type.

Patrick

When I was invited to speak on a virtual panel of world-renown experts, I was thrilled, especially since my research is so new. Small problem, when I join the conference already in session—they're expecting someone else.

The beauty running the show steals my attention, and I pretend to be who they think I am. What else could go wrong? Just a tiny scandal that jeopardizes the career I’ve worked so hard for.

Booking Dr. Wrong turns out to be the greatest mistake we ever made.

Most of these are always written in third person, as if the author isn't the one actually writing them. So, I'm going to be a rule-breaker and write it in first person instead. I'm a native Chicagoan, vegetarian, and lover of big words. I randomly burst out into song, and have been known to carry on entire conversations (with those worthy of the challenge) in song lyrics. The same can also be said for movie quotes. I'm quirky, sarcastic, I've been told at times I can be a bit esoteric, but overall I'd rather be dancing in the rain than waiting for the storm to pass.

From Boots to a Red Corset

The ‘oops’ of a misdirected email to two lonely individuals with similar tastes and expectations finding each other over the internet. I smiled with every word. But now I want that red corset, Willow!

I don't remember exactly why I stopped reading this, but I know that I tried a few times to finish it and I couldn't. I think that it was heroine's insecurity about her body and because she refused to eat in front of the hero, so he wouldn't think that she's fat or something, even though she was hungry. And I understand people's insecurities about bodies, I just don't care to read about it. And this was a woman in her 30s (I think), and I think that by that age, you should learn to at least accept, if not love your body. And if you don't like it, then do something about it, and not just complain and feel sorry for yourself, and try to make others sympathize, while you do nothing to improve the situation.

First things first; I like the cover of this book!
Booking Dr Wrong is a novella in the ‘’NSFW’’ collection. This story is short, mixed paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. I will admit, I did find this story a little long winded in parts. When Tabitha is tasked with setting up a virtual panel she doesn’t mean to add the wrong person. Although it wasn’t planned, Patrick is interested in Tabitha but will they get a chance at love?
The chemistry between Tabitha and Patrick is clear to see and I liked them together.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.

Love the initial idea but this one of the worst executed stories I’ve ever read

Before I even start on anything else about this book, let me just say that if the author paid someone to copyedit this story, I very sincerely hope she got a refund. And if there was no copyeditor, I would really suggest that the next story goes through one. Truly, nearly every other paragraph has a typo, grammatical error, or just weird, clunky phrasing. I kid you not, in the first paragraph of this story, there’s an error in the second sentence. And then in the second paragraph, there are two back-to-back sentence fragments. There are so many errors with commas, hyphens, em dashes, a few comma splices—I’m sorry, I can usually ignore a few errors here and there but this was egregious.

“Technical” stuff aside, let’s talk characters. Pro: Tabitha is in her thirties and I love the age representation. It’s very rare for me to find an age gap story with a FMC older than 22 (for context, Patrick is 44). Con: she is literally. so. stupid. I quote the following passage directly from the book: “I’m an employee Patrick, not a student. I mean, I’m taking classes, but I’m finished at the end of next term.” I’m sorry, but how can you be a college-educated woman in her thirties and NOT KNOW THE LITERAL DEFINITION OF THE WORD ‘STUDENT’?! It’s baffling. Also, at the end of the story she claimed that she didn’t know he was a professor at UT when in fact, on page 32, she acknowledges the fact that he is what? Oh yeah, a professor at UT. Plot hole, anyone?

As for Patrick, thankfully he was a fine character for most of the book; I don’t really have much complaint here and I thought the way that he handled the initial Zoom call was pretty smart, considering the circumstances. The one thing that I’m a little iffy about, however, is the word choice in his POV chapters. He’s a linguist, so on one hand it makes sense that he might use a wider vocabulary than the average person, but on the other hand, at times it was a little obnoxious to read.

Honestly, I’m just so disappointed. The idea of her inviting the wrong person to the Zoom call was really unique and I was super intrigued (I also loved reading the author’s note about it in her mea culpa), but the poor/lack of copy and developmental editing really did this book a disservice; it’s really unfortunate as it has potential.

The addition starts with the book cover….yeah…yeah…yeah don’t judge a book by its cover they say ….well we all do it and this one here it is the scratch to your itch or better yet the filling to your oreos! Speaking of filling…..wait, that’s for later. Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! By the time you’ve figured out who is who and who to like and dislike, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
Sometimes all it takes it one tiny mix up Tabitha sent out an email and it went to the wrong person but the mix up wasn’t anyone’s fault …. I think 😊 Tabitha sent out invite emails and somehow, I chose to call it fate the email was supposed to go to Dr. Patrick Ryan and fate sent it to Dr. Ryan Patrick an honest mistake. Needless to say, Dr. Ryan Patrick showed and attended her conferences and didn’t tell on her but for that understanding and consideration he requesting her to have drinks with him but will this one mix up lead to a HEA for the two of them?

Name mixup brings the right man to her screen and then her door

Booking Dr. Wrong by Willow Sanders is part of the Contemporary Office Romance series. This is a sweet, funny and spicy, older man/younger woman story about Tabitha and Patrick. Tabitha works for Dr. Dean Brown who is the chair of the Center for Hearing, Speech and Otolaryngology at the University of Toronto. One morning he informs her that he wants to host a virtual conference and with a mix up of a name Tabitha invites the wrong man to be on the panel. She sends an invite to Dr. Patrick Ryan when it should have been Dr. Ryan Patrick. Let's just say that Patrick has no idea about the subject matter he is supposed to be "an expert" in, or really it is Dr. Ryan Patrick who is the expert. But when he catches the picture of Tabitha he is about to go all out and pretend to know things he has no idea about. So no problem right???

This was an enjoyable story and an easy read. Tabitha and Patrick have some nice spicy heat flowing between them and the story-line is quick and entertaining.

It’s nice to read a book, every now and then, that’s not about a barely legal or twenty-something person. It was refreshing to find this story about a 32 year old woman and 44 year old man.

This book brought a few smiles to my face while reading it, and I enjoyed the interplay between Patrick and Tabitha’s characters. Tabitha definitely came across as a take no prisoners kind of person, and as Patrick got to know her, he found out that wasn’t quite the case. From Tabitha’s perspective, Patrick was this sexy guy with salt and pepper hair that she found very attractive. She thought he’d be super popular. Both found out quite a bit about each other the more they talked to each other and began to learn how well they had assessed the other. No one is ever the way they seem on the surface, and neither were these two.

Tabitha books the wrong doctor for a teleconference, due to a name confusion. Patrick plays along, winging it at the conference. She takes him to dinner as a thank-you for his cooperation. He's new in town, and has been super-focused on his career, not taking time to date. She works full-time while studying for her master's degree, but still takes time to show him the sights. A twist in the story nearly derails this new relationship. This was a nice little book to read, my first in this NSFW series, and also the first from this author. I love the characters together, although Patrick seemed to be more concerned about himself when the you-know-what hit the fan. I love how Tabitha puts on her take-charge pants and finds a resolution.

Tabitha works for Dean Brown (at the University of Toronto), and she has been tasked with the overwhelming job of organising a 'virtual summit of specials' of experts in audiology and otolaryngology. The Dean decides last minute to include another speaker, and that's the part that mucks up for Tabitha. Luckily Patrick (who was mistakenly invited) doesn't let anyone know that he isn't who they were expecting, and manages to wing his way through it. Now Tabitha owes him, and they have some nice chemistry between them. Will this mistake end up been a happy one? I loved the messages sent, the banter between Tabitha and Patrick, and the passion these two have.

Loved this book!!!!

I read Willie's Mea Culpa at the end of the book and enjoyed it as much as the story. It explained a lot of questions I had. She wrote this story so well I thought I was in college while reading it. All the educational references seemed so real. I loved the courtship between Tabitha and Patrick. It was fun between the two of them and great between her and Fern. You could visualize Toronto in your mind. Willow also talked about "next Saturday" (read the book, you'll find out). I lived 30 minutes from the Canadian border (we refer to them as our Canadian cousins) and she had me wondering about the "next Saturday" deal...lol. Thanks for such fun and good entertainment!! :)

She accidentally sent him an email invite to a virtual meeting of medical doctors. He's a professor at the college she works for, and it is all a mess. Somehow, he pulls it off and takes the blame. When they meet in person, she realizes she was eyeing him the other night at the same bar where they met. Things progress in both awkward and funny ways. There are words in this book I had to look up in the dictionary so if reading in paper form, keep one close. Otherwise, use the one provided in Kindle. There were also some typos, but they are addressed at the end of the book in the Mea Culpa - read that first then read the book if you must.

A Mistake that Turned Out Right . . .

This is Patrick and Tabitha’s story about a potential disaster that turned out amazing. The two of them meet when Tabitha inadvertently invites Dr. Patrick Ryan to an online conference, rather than Dr. Ryan Patrick, to sit on a panel to discuss subjects he knows nothing about. But her “Dr. Wrong” pretends to be the guy they expected and her mistake won’t be exposed. The least she can do is buy her guest speaker a few drinks! And amazingly, they connect very well! Will this be the start of something wonderful between them? How can something that wrong turn into the best thing that ever happened to them?

This book is part of the Contemporary Office Romance series and follows Patrick and Tabitha. They meet when she accidentally invites him to a virtual summit for her universities medical school instead of the intended doctor. Overall it was a good story. To me it progressed slowly then had the climax almost as soon as they got together. The issue is resolved pretty much immediately and then the book ends. I would have liked to have an epilogue to see what happens with them in the future.

I just love that this story is a mixup. She sends out an email and gets the name backwards. What can you say when both of the names are both first names right. The wrong doctors show up but she does not mind as you can tell. With her letting him know it was a mixup it does not matter. These two talk and get to know one another. Even though there is a bit of age difference and a mixup can these two come together as a couple?

Original entry in the story
It's a good, sweet romance that slowly builds up with a big twist that can change the course of the story. The characters of Tabitha and Patrick are good, they are not naive, but alone despite their age, after having remained the head for a long time in studies or in a bad relationship.
I really liked the start, their first contact, when Tabitha who works for the dean of a university gets the wrong name for a videoconference and a namesake steps in and plays along.

Booking Dr. Wrong is a fun, sassy and hot steamy story that will have glued to your kindle, not wanting to put it down. Tabitha and Patrick's journey beings with an email that go to the wrong person, from there there is twist, turns, laughter, friendship, misunderstanding, passion and love.

This is one of my favorites from the series as I love how the characters are not over the top, but just simple and caring. A great grab for any day.

One thing bothers me

Beyond this being a happy-for-now with no love declarations or marriage proposals... his anger and yelling at her were out of line. That was just swept under the rug when it's really a BFD. Is he going to yell when she drops dinner on his carpet? When she locks herself out of the house? He was the one under contract. He should have made sure she wasn't a student. That was his fault, not hers. That made him less attractive, and she was a doormat for letting it go.

Going with the intellectual theme of this story it was a conundrum to me.
It's an older man older woman story with a taboo edge that comes out of nowhere, but it was meh to me.
