Incredibly hot, sexy happily for now story
This is my first James Hardcourt story, and it won't be my last. Friends with Kinky Benefits is a delightful read. This can be read as a standalone with a HFN ending.
Amy and Dylan are best friends. Amy wants to explore her kinky side but is unable to find a suitable dom. Dylan is in love with Amy but scared to ruin their friendship. Amy finds out Dylan has feelings for her and fantasized about her sexually. While she doesn't return his feelings, she does love him as a friend, and is now willing to explore more. She proposes a friends with kinky benefits relationship.
I found both Amy and Dylan charming. Amy had the right mix of brutal honesty that makes you say, "Damn girl! You're gonna break his heart" along with the love of a friend that doesn't want to hurt him by leading him on. It was a refreshingly adult choice. Dylan was sweet but horny enough that I was ok with Amy's rules for their new benefits. To be honest, I was hoping for more romance, but the eroticism while Amy and Dylan explored some kink made up for it. It doesn't hurt that the ending leaves room for sequels that may eventually end up in a HEA. I really want these two to have an HEA.

Learning About Kink
Best friends forever, Amy hasn't realised how much Dylan is attracted to her. When she finds out, she has a proposal for him.
A clever and funny story about two virgins learning about kink and sex. James Hardcourt has created a terrific couple of characters and as well as funny, this is actually informative.

This was a fun read! Both Amy and Dylan are both pretty insecure, which makes them kind of perfect for each other. I did find it a smidge annoying that Amy is convinced that Dylan isn't the one for her, despite loving him as a best friend and finding him attractive. Dylan does his best during this book to convince her otherwise! ;)

Argumento:
Él quería amor, pero ella le está ofreciendo algo completamente diferente...
Amy tiene un problema: su mejor amigo, Dylan, está enamorado de ella, y después de regresar de su primer año en la universidad, él está a punto de decirle cómo se siente y arruinarlo todo.
Ella tiene sus propios problemas: su humillante incapacidad para encontrar a alguien con quien explorar sus deseos secretos y pervertidos realmente está comenzando a deprimirla.
Puede que no sea lo que él quería, o incluso lo que ella imaginó, pero tal vez haya una solución que les brinde algo de lo que están buscando. Amigos con beneficios pervertidos.

Esta era una clase distinta de amigos con beneficios, estos dos amigos de la infancia, uno enamorado la otra no, se convierten en amigos pero con beneficios 'pervertidos'.
Las citas de Amy, hasta en línea, no le funcionan, ella desea un chico con quién compartir y que comprenda sus gustos particulares, quería un chico dominante o eso creía... Dylan su mejor amigo es lindo pero nunca lo vio más que como un amigo. Cuando lo descubre su amistad se tambalea hasta que piensa que quizás su mejor amigo entienda mejor que nadie sus gustos con el sexo y le propone que la ayude a experimentar, un beneficio para los dos, no será lo que él quiere, no tendrán citas ni sexo, pero podrán hacer otras cosas. Dylan acepta, lo que sea es mejor que nada para tener a Amy. Juntos descubren que no solo responden al otro sino que es divertido y sexy explorar juntos lo que los motiva sexualmente.
No hay romance, él está enamorado y ella no siente igual pero está empezando así que esta historia tiene más erotismo. Me daba pena Dylan, él veía corazoncitos rosas con ella pero se da cuenta de repente de lo mala que puede ser Amy y que esto lo ponga a mil me daba gracia pero al mismo tiempo pensaba 'pobre tipo' en qué se metió. Pero él terminó descubriendo un lado que no sabía que tenía también.
No hay mucho más en la historia, dos mejores amigos y un trato y eso es todo, puede que demasiado diálogo lo hiciera a veces moverse todo en ritmo lento pero me gustó, no estuvo mal. Era entretenido y atrapó mí curiosidad.
El final fue un feliz por ahora, fue algo bajón porque me di cuenta que había una segunda parte y ahora sí quiero el final feliz tendré que leer Friends with More Kinky Benefits.

Fantastisk skrevet, men så meget nysgerrighed og humor.
Amy har fået en ide, hun vil vide mere om sex og den mandlige krop, men hun mangler en partner in crime og valget falder på barndomsvennen Dylan. Hvad hun bare ikke lige har taget helt med i sine overvejelser før veninden fortæller det - Dylan er head over Heels forelsket i hende og han har planer om endeligt at fortælle det til hende.
To meget forskellige motiver, to forskellige oplevelser, to forskellige personer.
Vi får det hele. Ærlighed er vigtigst og med Amys fundne kinky side, som skal udleves, får Dylan en aften og nat han sent vil glemme.
Hvis du er openminded og ikke har problemer med at læse om lidt kink, så er bogen helt klart for dig. Mand eller kvinde eller noget andet, så handler den jo om at finde sig selv, turde give sig hen og slippe hæmningerne. Jeg ville ønske den blev oversat og flere fik adgang til den. For her er fin indsigt i førstegange og udforskning på en fræk og sød måde. Amy er sikker på hun er sub, men i mødet med Dylan mærker hun det pirrende ved dominansen. Historien er troværdig og inspirerende. Leg og udforsk hinanden.

& maybe I set myself up for failure? I try not to read too many reviews as I don’t want to spoil it for myself but then I probably would’ve known to avoid this book.
I don’t like virgin tropes & both MCs are. They’re fresh out of high school (well like a year out?) but very immature and childlike thinking still.
Amy, the FMC, is “super kinky” and owns her own sexuality yet isn’t comfortable in her own body it comes off as and isn’t confident in discussing sexual topics. Just seems contradictory… esp since she discusses her experiences trying to find a Dom, it leads you to believe she’s confident/comfortable discussing such topics but with her two close friends she can barely make a coherent sentence???
The dialogue could also be improved - most of it’s fine, but some of it is choppy and didn’t flow, and just added to the awkwardness between the characters. Some minor errors as well which made it a bit more difficult to follow some convos.
Overall, it could be a good story I just feel the MCs are lacking and there’s no connection.

This is the first time I have read any material from this author and I ready, really enjoyed this book. It is about two young adults who are best friends who explore their sexuality and find out just how kinky they are. I liked both Amy and Dylan, as this book was very honest and relatable. It was a fun read with several humorous parts that made me laugh, a delightful book and I look forward to part two of this series.

I loved this book. Easy to read - hard to put down - even laughed - I love books like that. The couple start to explore BDSM in their own innocent way - it is fun to see things through their eyes and their discovery. I think James nailed the first person point-of-view story telling. I can't wait for book 2 - this book has to grow into a series.

I made the mistake of starting it just before going to bed and it was super hard to stop (only did that at 2 am😅)
I only gave it 4.8 star because I think the book could have explored more of the characters and the story.

I am partial to stories where the main characters are on their journey to discover everything kink. This story is a wonderful example, where you are provided with both his and her perspective. This book is clearly the first instalment of a series, so I am very much looking forward to the remainder of the journey.

Lacklustre
I really wanted to enjoy this book, but unfortunately there wasn't much of a storyline and found the characters quite immature. Overall, the story was just flat bordering on boring, which was disappointing, just not for me.

How I wished my first explorations could have gone!
The author has done a great job of making edging and kink accessible, in a fun and cute package. Now just trying to think who I should send this recommendation on to!

After finishing book one and two, I decided to change my rating. For one reason alone. I read a few reviews and they were like 'this book is so sexy, so hot, so etc, etc, etc...
I understand that James Hardcourts books are mainly for education.
But I disagree.
WHAT IF: the roles were reversed. If SHE told him she was in love with him and he admitted that he only felt friendship towards her and he only wanted to have sex and experience kinky stuff with her because he didn't feel good after he tried the kinky stuff with other women and men online.
Basically, convince her to be kinky with him. Even though at that stage she wasn't kinky but because she loves him head over heels she allowed it....(even though he doesn't love her back)
Then that man would have been a selfish creep and a jerk.
I just hope that in book three she does fall in love with him. (I'm the ever optimistic romantic :-/
