Olivia Small towns? Everybody up in your business? Not my thing. Give me the mind-your-own-business big city. I’m just in Gardner for a couple days to catch my breath after losing the consulting job I loved, and the man I thought I loved.
Until I catch sight of a breathtakingly beautiful little girl, then her flannel-and-scruff single dad. With my ovaries crying louder than my common sense, I unpack my bags and settle in for a spell.
Tyler In small towns like Gardner, some things are absolute. There’s no such thing as privacy. There will always be bad blood between certain families. And second chances don’t just drop into the local diner for a turkey sandwich. Do they?
Olivia has city and temporary written all over her, and my kneejerk reaction is to keep my sunshine-and-two-million-questions daughter from getting attached. But when I get into a bind, Olivia surprises me in ways I never expected. But when the past starts pushing and shoving, there may not be room in this small town for temporary to become permanent.
3 stars - was,.... okay. I enjoyed it. At least for the most part. Felt very repetitive in places. Lots of big build up of things that kind of fizzled when they came to light. Was looking for that Big Bang to the build ups and it all just felt kind of flat.
Wasn’t horrible. Was okay. And it does end on a cliffhanger for the second book. Which I did I fact jump pretty much right into to find out what was happening. And the second book is almost the same. But I’ll talk about that in that books review.
I did enjoy getting to know the characters in the small town of Gardner and the Justa family.
The real question is,....will I read more? Probably. When I need an easy quick read I’m sure I’ll pick up the third book - sooner or later.
First off. NO HEA! It’s a cliffhanger to the next book. I like to know that ahead of time because I often won’t read a book that’s going to string me along through a series. That really made me mad. I absolutely love the little girl Lucy! I love Olivia and her kick ass attitude and I grew fond of Tyler. What I didn’t like was too much thrown at you right in the beginning about all the families of Gardner and why they all hate each other. It was like a ball of jumbled wires throw n at you to unravel when you supposed to be getting to know the characters. It’s still not clear. And I almost stopped reading the book at the beginning. The story went along well for awhile. I started getting into the characters and liking them. Then a cliffhanger. So done if this is how this series is going to go.
Why have I not read this author before?? This was a great read. I already clicked the next once can't wait for more of this Justa family. Olivia and Tyler are great together. And I love Lucy.
When Tyler's father passed, he took over the family business. Between raising his rambunctious, young daughter and running a construction company, Tyler had a lot on his plate. He always made time for his family though. Living in Gardner had it's perks. Tyler's aunt owns the best coffee/diner in town and business was booming. The Justa family along with the Lovor's and the Rohricks's are all families with deep roots in Gardner. They are also rivals. All small towns had family disputes and Gardner was no different. Olivia left the city for some peace of mind. Her current job was uncertain and Olivia needed a change of scenery. What she didn't expect was to meet a mischievous little girl and her too handsome father. Tyler had been minding his own business, raising his daughter, when he sees Olivia. When it comes to women, Tyler is out of practice. His daughter is his priority and everything else comes after her. But watching Olivia being kind to his daughter has his heart wanting more. A WORD OF ADVICE? WHEN YOU START THIS BOOK, BE PREPARED TO STICK WITH IT. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN ! ! ! YOUR FOCUS WILL BE 100% ON THIS BOOK, IT IS THAT AWESOME ! ! ! I LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS IN THIS BOOK, EVEN THE MEAN ONES😁 THIS BOOK HAS ALL THE FEELS ! I CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE ! ! !
I was surprised by this book. I didn’t exactly like the last one I read by this author. I found with this one I had a hard time putting it down. I’m a little curious about Olivia and her past. What could be so bad in her past to cause possibly cause Tyler to lose his daughter. I liked Olivia’s character. She was strong, sarcastic and interesting. One we first met her I didn’t know if I’d like her. I mean how could she fall for a complete tool like Barry. She grew on me though. Tyler was great. A protective dad who didn’t let his guard down. The whole run away mom thing is a little overplayed sometimes though. Kate (Lucy’s mom) was the typical, model beautiful, vain, selfish run away mom. I got tired of her right of the bat bc I feel like I’ve read her character before, several times. I enjoyed the whole family and their dynamics. I’m hoping the series wraps up the whole Kate and custody battle quickly and moves onto the other family members.
What is not to love about Tyler a broody alpha who just lives to protect his daughter and his family. Then along comes Olivia a woman who's feisty and has a mind of her own and fought to get to where she is today. This all happens in a very small town called Gardner where Tyler lives and Olivia visits, Olivia is a little lost when she arrives and Tylers ex wants her daughter Lucy back. Lucy is just hilarious throughout this book there were times when I sat in fits of laughter about Lucys statements. It ended in a cliffhanger and left me hanging but I can't wait to get the next book and find out how Tyler and Olivia story ends.
DNF ... Got this book on kindle unlimited because I’ve been into single parent romances lately. I got bored at chapter 17 and looked to see how many more chapters were left, Saw there was 40+ chapters and decided to skip to the last two to see the HEA. I Didn’t realize this had a cliffhanger (VERY DISAPPOINTED)
Seeing “Family” in the series title made me think every book would be about someone new.
Took awhile to get into the story but well worth it,it has humour , romance everyday family life.a father bringing up his daughter who is delightful.Small town family rivals. When Olivia arrives she wins over most of the Just a family but mostly Tyler and their chemistry is almost immediate.Theirs is a complicated relationship but so romantic till the end of the book so I cannot wait to read the next
Love the small town but get over the feuds. Kate is an evil woman.
Lucy is adorable.
Olivia and Tyler have some smoking chemistry.
Favorite part: “That’s right, bitch, you keep walking away,” I whispered. I punched the air a few times and then threw a kick. I heard a noise behind me and turned on my right heel with my left leg in the air… To find Tyler watching me. “Oh… fuck…” “That’s some sweet ninja stuff you have there, sweetheart,” he said.
I always love reading a London Casey book. U loved this one even more. The world she has created within the start if this series will have you begging for more. There is such a connection between Tyler and Olivia. And Lucy (Tyler's daughter) steals the show. And the cookie jar of course. Bravo London on another phenomenal book.
This story leaves on a cliffhanger. Ugh. It is a very slow paced story. We still no nothing of her drama and the conflicts seem arbitrary. The premise of story was good, the kid was cute, but the book dragged and you have to read a whole other book to know how it ends.
I normally don't like a cliff hanger but since the next book is already out I'm not too upset. This is a great story. The characters in the story are very well done. The town feels like home and makes it easy to picture this as a real place. I can't wait to start the next book.
When your Jonas you know it is on the line, and you can tell you are being railroaded by someone who you thought had your back, you make a decision to just move on. Then you meet new people and decide to stay in new town, make new start, but sometimes it’s not that easy, someone is always trying to get dirt from your past. Awesome story, great read.
From the first page to the last drama, anger, hurt, betrayal, sex, intrigue, excitement, love, sass. Heart melting love and attitude from a five year old. This book from the beginning had me so hooked I read it ALL in one afternoon. I cannot wait to dive into the next one!💖
I loved the story about Olivia ending up in Gardner and falling for Tyler and his little girl Lucy. It was such a good story and I felt like I knew all the people in the Justa family. I want to drink coffee at the diner and give Lucy a kiss!
First time reading this author and it's got alot of small town drama around every corner. I'm hooked and intrigued. Great chemistry, characters and storyline.
PISSED. Didn't know was a cliffhanger or series book. Hate them. Spend time reading but no hea. Now have to wait till April or later to finish (or not) Afaird one book I won't be looking forward to. Good story but should have finished.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I should have known by some chapters towards the end that were basically filler that this ends in a cliffhanger. Not sure why it’s classified as a rom-com either Not sure if I will continue with it
Tyler is a hot single Dad but projects rudeness to Olivia for being friendly with his daughter, Lucy. They finally understand teach other on why they act that way. I love little Lucy and how she added the spice to this story. I like the twists and turns and the character of Kate, the biological mother of Lucy. Although it's a cliffhanger, I didn't have to buy the next series. I'm really happy!
Omg I am go glad I found London Casey.. her books are amazing. This one was no different.. I can't put any of them down... Olivia and Tyler!!! Omg love them!! Lucy, the cutest thing ever. Highly recommend!!
Small town setting with family fueds like the Hatfields and McCoy s. join this family as the fight to keep what is theirs while finding love and family.
Wow! Just when I think that London can't do any better, she outdoes herself with the Justa Series. This was such a great story. I loved the connection between Tyler and Olivia, and of course little Lucy is the real star. I love the family connections within this book, and cannot wait to see what's next for these characters.
