Brass Knuckles & Tattered Wings #8

Armor Piercing Problems

Rate this book
He may be broken but his moral code isn't.

After a freak accident killed his wife and son, Pritchard slipped into alcoholism to drown his sorrows at a blue-collar bar nearby to avoid the dead and empty house. But then a teenage girl asked for his help, and it turned his entire existence around.

One thing’s a turf war going on, another is being a benefactor, which is very much similar to Pritchard’s vigilante angel side. So, when one of the men who saved Pritchard’s ass from a bad plan asks for a favor to save his sister, Pritchard immediately jumps on board to be useful to a battered mother and her children. Ending up with a bag full of illegal ammo was not part of the plan, though.

In the meantime, The Bogdan gang keeps coming, and Pritchard has to learn new skills to live up to his responsibilities while getting his point across to those who seek to take over his town.

Reaching out to an old nemesis is but part of the problems Pritchard has to tackle. Passing the one-year date of losing his wife and son weighs heavily, too.

There’s a balance to be found, and that bag of armor-piercing bullets isn’t helping.

Martin Svolgart has a fascination for humans. What drives them, makes them, breaks them. What can bring out the worst in a person? What can bring out the best?

He doesn’t believe in a world of black and white. The human eye can detect 256 shades of gray. Instead, he believes the answer to what is good and what is evil is to be explored within those nuances.

His protagonists are never just good, and his antagonists are never just evil.

He loves exploring what makes them one or the other. Especially, he loves looking into what can make them change, grow, and evolve. In which direction that may go is of course one of the interesting questions to be explored.

Season two finale. I read this book slowly forcing myself to put it down. I didn't want it to end cause the next season isn't out yet. It was a fun adventure and end of your seat moment, twists and turns throughout. Can't wait for the next season to come out!! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Book 8 of a saga: a man reborn by becoming the Angel w/Brass knuckles & Tattered Wings
In this continuing saga, Pritchard has found a new “princess” to rescue while trying to defeat an unwanted source of badness. A lower-level mafia group are trying to infiltrate Pritchard’s town, Glens Falls where he spent many happy years with his wife Monica and their son Zack until their cruel death-by-drunk-driver. The backstory for Pritchard goes like this: a sad drunk after their deaths to a man with a purpose when Rose doubts his capabilities. Rose being his first “princess.” The author gives a quick synopsis of how Pritchard gets from one to the other, up to and including his current mission. So helpful! There will also be backstories for many of his team, which I so enjoyed. The author always allows the team creative ways of disposing of their most recent problems. You’ll understand the title once you see what the mafia bad guys are up to.
I highly recommend you read the first book, BEST FOOT FORWARD. It shows you the path that Pritchard had to take to get back to the man Monica knew he was. Not totally sure, but it appears that just maybe the story arc throughout season 2 of this series ends with this book. Time will tell…By the way, I love Hemish! He’s much more than a crime boss’s knocker or a kilt-wearing super storyteller. He has depth of character. I’m glad he’s part of Pritchard’s team. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens and give it 4.5 stars.

One of Sam's buddies sister is married to a piece of scum that not only beats her up, but his children as well. He asks Pritchard to mess the guy up so that he can't hurt her or the kids again.

As well as finding loads of illegal ammunition, they also find some armor piercing shells which begs the question...... just who, or what, is this guy Dave involved with?

The rest of the Russian gang are rounded up and on their way to China, so Pritchard and his crew feel it is now time to celebrate, as Glenn Falls is once again free from Russian mob infiltration. Still, I can't help but wonder if they have just removed one threat to have it replaced with another.

Happy reading. Annemarie

Keeping the family together, teaching the bad guys a lesson, making sure the teenagers are kept safe in a dangerous environment, all of these actions are done with good humor, team spirit, respect for the leadership and the community by Pritchard and his crew. This story contains various examples of what leaders should do: how to strategize, how and when to praise one´s good deeds, how to let your team grow, how to be kind when needed and let emotions show (leaders also have them!). Very entertaining.

Wonderful series from book one to book eight. An engaging story line that kept me wanting more. Pritchard is truly a worthwhile character. Witnessing his full development; helping other broken souls despite his own personal demons, the respect he's earned, and overall brilliance.

Can't wait to see what's next!
