I thought this book was fascinating. It gave me a whole new perspective on conflict and how to handle it in all different types of relationships. Seriously, if you try to pick a fight with me you will see, we will be best friends by the end. Test me, I dare you! :-)

This was required reading for my Conflict Resolution course. Overall, this textbook is well written and has many interesting concepts. I feel as though I learned quite a bit that I could adapt to my own life.

I enjoyed this class/book:) growing up, my family didn’t have the best communication especially in times of conflict so I always enjoy my communication courses and i’m thankful to be getting a minor in it. I found the beginning 7 chapters very informative and useful, the last 3 not so much 👎👎👎

Interpersonal Conflict is one of the most insightful and practical books I have read on communication and relationships. Hocker and Wilmot provide a thorough exploration of conflict, helping readers understand not only why conflict occurs but also how to navigate it in healthier and more productive ways.
I appreciated how the book challenged many common misconceptions about conflict and emphasized the importance of communication, self-awareness, perspective-taking, and relationship dynamics. The concepts were well explained and supported with real-life examples, making them easy to understand and apply.
While this book is often used as a college textbook, I found its lessons valuable far beyond the classroom. It has changed the way I think about conflict in family relationships, friendships, leadership, and everyday interactions. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to communicate more effectively and build stronger relationships.

Kitab suci mata kuliah Manajemen Konflik 1.
Buku kuliah pertama yang aku baca sampe nangis.
Duh.

This was the required textbook for a course I took in Spring 2015 of the same title, cross listed with psychology and communications.
Because of the price (more than $150) I initially thought I could get away with just reading the reserve copy at the library.
No sooner than the first chapter, I discovered it was full of gems, citations every sentence and a must-have.
I loved the course, even though it was online and I would have preferred face-to-face interaction and lectures. It made me appreciate the need for conflict resolution and management skills in our society.

As far as textbooks are concerned, this book is excellent. It is easy to digest for someone who is new to the field of conflict, negotiation, and mediation. It gives relevant examples of how we are confronted with conflict every days and the ways that we can help manage that conflict more successfully. Personally, I believe anyone in a relationship should read this book because it brought to light things I do, or notice others do, and how those interactions could be handled more effectively.

This was a textbook for a Conflict Management course that I recently took, but it's not written in the typical dry academic style. I would actually recommend this for personal reading. It contains a lot of really valuable information in terms of how to approach interpersonal conflict in a healthy, effective manner.

As far as textbooks go, this one was pretty dry. The examples were a little outdated and the reading itself was rather heavy. Each chapter seemed to go on forever with its small print. But, it was jam-packed with a lot of good information about conflict. I can see why the professor chose it.

This is a text book and it read like a text book. There were times when I was learning something and times when I wanted to throw it across the room. If you are sick of my text book reviews, I graduate in TWO WEEKS (Woo Hoo) so it is almost over.

Wish I had the time to delve into the theories and applications more deeply!

Excellent information, but it's essentially a textbook, so it's a slog.
