FBI Agent Rachel Gift, 33, unparalleled for her ability to enter the minds of serial killers, is a rising star in the Behavioral Crimes Unit—until a routine doctor visit reveals she has but a few months left to live.
Not wishing to burden others with her pain, Rachel decides, agonizing as it is, not to tell anyone—not even her boss, her partner, her husband, or her seven-year-old daughter. She wants to go down fighting, and to take as many serial killers with her as she can.
A serial killer is targeting vulnerable organ donors with seemingly no rhyme or reason, and Rachel is locked in a furious race against time to find the connection between the murders and stop him before he strikes again.
But Rachel herself is faltering, beginning to succumb to her illness.
Can she keep it together long enough to catch this killer before her own death? And can she keep her own demons—and her own traumatic past—at bay?

Don't get me wrong, really like the stories in this series. I have read the first three. BUT, I do have 2 complaints. The stories are too short, the should have all been put into one book. Then the reader wouldn't have to read over and over that she has a brain tumor. And, like I wrote about the last book, she needs a new editor. One who can spell, complete sentences and use correct grammar. That said I will read the remaining books in the series.
I loved this series. It was very exciting and I could hardly put it down. However, there was a lot misspellings, wrong words, etc. These could have been edited out if pointed out by a good proofreader.
Rachel is running against the clock regarding her own problems as well as in finding the culprit in this good novel. Liver transplant patients are being killed and the local police and the FBI have no leads that can point them to the killer. All the leads they work on seems to finish at a dead end. Rachel keeps on having her extremely painful headaches which are putting her capacity of working in doubt, but she needs to keep on working or she feels she may loose her sanity and the only thing she believes she is good at. Lynch, the serial killer, she had approached for help is not making her life any easier, as he keeps on calling her and sending "souveniers" to her home adding even more stress to her life. A fast-paced, entertaining, and easy-to-read story that will keep you reading till you learn the end. As a member of the author's ARC team, I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first two. Perhaps if it was a hard copy instead of an audiobook I would have given it 5 stars. I found myself a bit distracted at a few points as the audio voices didn't match the character speaking. The story itself was pretty intense and once again I was finding myself eager to find time to be alone so I could finish the book. The character development is done extremely well. I find myself with empathy for some, angry at others, in disbelief at some, laughing at some, rooting & cheering, etc. When a writer can draw me into a book and I can feel that deeply for the characters, I know they have done their job even if it means I can't stand a character.
This is another book I purchased, a rarity, and I am recommending it. 👍
After reading three books so far this year, none of which did much for me, I found this book to be a pleasant surprise.
This is actually the third book in the series but I read it first and will now go back and read the first two. I wait with bated breath for the fourth book to be released.
This was an easy read and kept me engrossed the whole way through. It’s not a long book, which is something that appeals to me, especially when reading a series.
I have read books by this author in the past and have enjoyed them. There are quite a few different series available and all sound interesting.
The writing was to the point and didn’t ramble, the story appealed to me and was very well written.
FBI Profiler Rachel Gift has a knack for for getting into the mind of serial killers and unfortunately one if fixated on her. The killer’s reach is long and he’s out to punish Rachel. Tormenting phone calls and a nasty ‘gift’ displayed in her young daughter’s room have police watching her home closely. Unfortunately her husband is ready to call it quits when he finds out about her tumour diagnosis well after the fact. Rachel finally melts down and confesses to her partner who’s bent over backwards as she lashes out to keep chasing killers on her terms. I’m really surprised she’d risk others by continuing to drive knowing her headaches can hit without warning.

Her last Hope is one of those mysteries that seem to awaken quite a growing attachment in the reader as the book has everything to do with the plight of the main character in addition to a growing fascination with absorbing plots of mysteries that seems to grab your attention (to the exclution of anything else you might have had planned.) Phew. In Her Last Hope some serial killer is killing people that are awaiting liver transplants. That certainly surprised me till speculation brought forth certain viable possibilities for doing so and a race to save the lives of some very, very ill people. Enjoy.
Rachel finally tells her husband about her brain tumor. Things don't go very good with that. She and her partner Jack get called to investigate some stabbings. They quickly link the reason to these people being on a list to receive an organ donation. Rachel is still having severe headaches from the tumor. Jack still doesn't know what's going on with her. This book kept me reading it from start to finish. The ending makes it hard to wait for the next book. I love every Blake Pierce book I have read! Please keep them coming!
This book has so much potential, however the grammatical and spelling errors ruin the magic of the book. Overall, without even searching for errors I found over 28 errors throughout this book. It is disappointing that each book I go to next in the sequel gets progressively worse. I struggled to read this book as the first 80% of the book was boring and was full of fillers. The most interesting part of the book was the last 20%. Would not recommend on spending the money to buy the book. Sadly I am just severely disappointed.
Another great read by Blake pierce, enjoyed this book very much kept me wanting to read on and on. Rachel and Jack work so well together, so glad that she has a good friend in Jack too. Read many of Blake’s books and as usual this one didn’t disappoint, she is so good at hooking you into her stories that you want to read more, only thing about this book was the mistakes in spelling which was a bit disappointing, maybe time to get a better proof reader Blake but well done anyway.
Blake never disappoints and this one is no exception. Getting to get some idea of the terror that agent gift is going through on a daily basis and I agree with jack, hubby need an attitude adjustment. Just wonder how it's all going to turn out. On to the next book.
She has been the one to track down the killers This one wants certain things from the victims Fighting to the end. to get as many as she can A riveting with twists to enjoy Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
The story was good but disturbed by number of typos and repetitive sentences. Not sure what’s going on with Kindle copies, but I would be willing to act as an editor in the future.
As usual, Blake Pierce writes a great book. The details that he puts into the book keep me not wanting to put it down. I am frustrated with how stubborn Rachel is. I want to shake her! Need to move on to the next book to find out what happens next!
Very interesting series. Not only are the cases intriguing but Agent Gift’s personal struggles make this a worthwhile read. Sadly there are only three books in this series that are left.
An interesting story. People died because they were on a waiting list for a liver transplant. FBI Agent Gift has her own health issues as she goes about solving murders.
If there's ever a book 📚📖 that messed with my emotions, this was it. I was upset at the way Rachel's husband reacted to what was going on with her. Blake Pierce left me in tears 😭 on parts in of this book 📚 number three of Rachel Gift FBI Suspense Thriller. I loved that she at least had a supportive partner in the in person of Jack River. The characters in this new Suspense Thriller are really well developed. I am upset with Rachel because she waited so long to tell her husband, we know she told him in Book 📚📖 two of this series. I'm upset with her because as good as she is in solving serial murders, she can't seem to think 🤔 straight about her own mortality. I understand she that she feels if she does seek treatment and she still doesn't get any better but there is always a chance there's some doctor out there with the answer and she has not even thought about that, maybe her husband is right when he says she is selfish. I can't wait for the next book 📚📖. As long as there is a Book there is A Chance. and there is Hope. Wonderful book
