Ma lugesin seda tegelikult eesti keeles ("Hea pika elu projekt") ja väga asjalik raamat. Hea kohe lugeda mõistlikku juttu, mis tugineb teadusele ja annab samas igasugu häid nippe, kuidas end vaimselt ja kehaliselt vormis hoida, et ei peaks keskeast edasi ägama igasugu hädade käes.

Finished this fantastic book over the weekend and can not recommend it highly enough! I requested this book because I am terrified of Alzheimer’s disease and wanted to know more about prevention. This book is meticulously researched, even the common sense (eat more organic veggies ect) are back up with research. If there are conflicting views the author includes them which results in an exceptionally well balanced book. There’s also recipes in the back! I purchased the audiobook (highly recommend the narrators British accent is a delight) to read on the go but I definitely want to go back through an annotate the physical copy kindly sent to me by the publisher

A productive, succinct repudiation of some health myths, reinforcement of prior conclusions, and expansion in speculative regions of positive diet. Fundamentally, have a diverse diet resembling the 'Mediterranean diet' and take advantage of genetic screening to modulate your diet to minimise future harms. Just as good and informative as How Not to Die by Gene Stone and Michael Greger.

I so enjoyed reading this book -who doesn’t want to continue to live a longer, healthier, happier life? I loved how Annabel & Susan have done their research and were changing their lives for the better and were happy as role models to share. Thank you!!

This book is meant for middle aged people wanting to implement changes in their lifestyle for a healthy and prolonged life.
The book stresses on the following key points:
1. Diet - avoiding processed food, excess sugar, including more green leafy vegetables, fruits, fish , probiotics and occasional meat. Their stance on moderate alcohol intake as acceptable surprises me and I think it needs more research.
2. Exercise- regular exercise is the single most important factor and has multitude of benefits in a lot of different ways like enhanced sleep, muscle strength, body reserve, secretion of endorphins and the list goes on…
3. Keeping your brain active- by learning new skills, reading books, learning new language
4. Being socially active with good interpersonal communication and having a good sense of purpose in life and being resilient to the vagaries of life .
5. Effective sleep of 7-8 hours

I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking to bring about a positive change in their life , with good suggestions on simple daily modifications which can be done by anyone if one has the will to follow it regularly.

Taking ownership of the aging process

As a prolific list maker and obsessive organiser I love the idea of being able to take some control over the aging process. It helped me to see this book as a pick and choose menu. Some of the recommended changes I'll take up at once and others I would never consider (I hate fermented foods and meditation). The Age Well Project is a message of hope, a beautiful vision of hiking in my 90's and living my entire life in my own home.

Nothing contained within was earth shatteringly new information but this book does aggregate all the new research into ageing and what we can do to improve our longevity and quality of life when we reach a rip old age. It has made me more aware of the importance of our diet, avoiding processed food and eating a varied diet, being active and keeping an active social life and how to find a purpose that keeps us going long after most people have retired and put their feet up.

Set off from family medical history, both Streets and Saunders made a join project to live a longer, healthier and happier life. The book explain in details the components of each tips with the words easy to understand and easier ways to adapt into our daily lifestyle.

Fantastic read for a neurotic middle aged woman now needing to worry just how far into the middle I am. Great practical - and clear - advice and bright and breezy to read.
