Thank you Richafor the link of this short story💕 ‘It wasn’t just a summer fling, was it?’ he asks. ‘No,’ says Jane. ‘I don’t do those.’ We all love our star couple “Charlie and Nick”.Now we get to know about Charlie’s parents. Jane and Julio’s Spanish Summer was beautiful.Oseman is a Word Magician. She can turn a simple word into an emotion. The illustrations were very heartwarming.
"you've met me at my worst" "then you can only get more wonderful." this is a big theme in my fave books apparently............ lets not get into what this says about me as a person
Shoutout to Alice Oseman for making me weak over the love story of two characters I had no prior connection to in a short story; her words truly are magic.
This is a short story about how Tori and Charlie's parents met, and I just loved it so much. What started as a series of tumblr Q&As quickly turned into enjoyable read, and I applaud Alice Oseman for knowing how to make readers truly care about her wonderful characters.
alice oseman continuously proves how good of an author they are. in a mere thirty-four pages, i was able to be emotionally attached to a pair of characters that i had no previous knowledge of. the writing style was immaculate, although the piece was short you could still get a feel of jane and julio's personalities.
i adored this piece, genuinely. it was short, sweet, and summery. the imagery of the hot spanish afternoons, the vivacious restaurant atmosphere, and even down to the aspect of the summer love perfectly encapsulated an image. the reader could envision something in their mind and it could be built-on piece by piece.
jane and julio were so charming, at first i was worried about that "insta-love" quality to the story but as they got to know each other it blossomed into something more.
here's to another piece of alice oseman's work that i have enjoyed, through and through. she is indefinitely climbing onto the top of my list of favourite authors.
this was the perfect way to end this boring thursday. chefs kiss to jane and julio
as i've said many times before alice oseman's writing is the best thing in the universe but this is very interesting cause it's written in third person and describes both jane's and julio's feelings and thoughts
This short story is available on Alice Oseman's website, and I'd love for it to get published, it's so good! It's about Tori and Charlie's parents, and how they met, and I teared up at the end because it was just so sweet. I really loved it!
4 stars ⭐️ ------------- "as reluctant as he is to admit it, he's intrigued by her, and he thinks, maybe, she's intrigued by him too."
how does alice manage to continue to write some of the most captivating stories and romances i've ever read??
"'you've met me at my worst.' 'then you can only get more wonderful.'" i'm not crying i swear 🥹 consider me an official janio stan 🫡
i definitely would've preferred this in a more traditional form, like a dual-pov type situation, but hey i'll take anything i can get because i've already read every osemanverse book and i always want more content.
it's very cool to read about young jane and julio, because we can kinda tell where tori and charlie get some of their traits from.
also... "who is this girl and why, exactly, is she like this?" is this a reference to nick and charlie's iconic "why are we like this?" 👀
overall - a very pleasant read and i can't believe it took me so long to get to it. my heart is warmed and i will be thinking about this story for the next 24-48 business hours.
Julio is spending the summer at his parent’s house in Spain, reading books. Jane is on the run and ends up in the same town as Julio even though she doesn’t speak Spanish. Cue the summer romance! For such a short story it’s remarkablely good at creating an atmosphere that really makes you want to wander. The characters are simple and the exposition a bit overly direct, but man. The emotions! Very sweet and charming read!
