Harlem stalwart Monroe Webb is reluctantly drawn to cheeky newcomer Annie Wu, who has moved in across the hall.
Annie knows that Monroe opposed her bid for a space in his building, but she can't help but be fascinated by his style and his dedication to local causes.
Can these neighbors mend fences or are they better off breaking them down?
Ruby Lang is pint-sized, prim, and bespectacled. Her alter ego, essayist Mindy Hung, has written for The New York Times, The Toast, and Salon, among others. She enjoys running (slowly), reading (quickly), and ice cream (at any speed). She lives in New York with a small child and a medium-sized husband.
Short and easy. I had a nice time with the audiobook.
The writing style tends more towards telling than showing but it's told beautifully. I found that it sounds almost like the sort of stories you would end up telling a friend where you make up the specifics in your mind because you are curious. Low heat, low conflict and a small glimpse into their lives.
