Sam Hall has this knack for pulling you in, giving you what you finally want and then ending the book. I didn’t even realize I was near the end because I was so consumed by what was happening. So many reveals, revelations but still more questions.

I feel like this book delved more into the past of her mates and focused on their connection. Some insta-love but it did work on developing what they have. While it focused on their connection it also addressed what their relationship means and could mean. A lot of different histories and revelations were brought up and we start to learn what it all means. Plus I found myself cheering for people I didn’t even think I would be cheering for in this book. Looking forward to seeing how this all plays out in the next book.

Also, the villain, I loathe them (I’m sure people know who it is but just in case). I need to know their history, the motives, what’s been happening and then I need them to get what’s coming to them.

I did have to reread a few parts in the middle to make sure I understood what was happening, I think I just wasn’t paying attention as closely as I thought I was. Plus there were lot of new plot points. The first half of the epilogue confused me for a moment and then I had a “omg this person!” moment and it made more sense. The second half just had me wanting more.

Overall I really enjoyed this book! I think the author helped close some mysteries and plots from the first book but also introduced new mysteries, characters and developments. Can’t wait for the next book!

Come Out Swinging is the second book in the Reach For the Moon series and it was excellent, the feelings I felt reading this book... For most of the book, I was asking the question "What is happening" because the story went totally left, it was filled with steam and some crazy deliciousness that have me craving for more.

The events in the first book, Lone Wolf, were just the beginning, everything got pretty crazy in Come Out Swinging. After finding out her dad was not from natural causes and being attacked, Paige is recovering in the beginning. She isn't letting the attack stop her or change who she is. Paige is pushing through, healing, investigating her dad's murder, piecing together what the heck is going on in Lupindorf and her family all the while trying to bond with her guys and figure out what being a nix means. To say that she has a lot to deal with is an understatement but Paige does it with maturity, and is determined, she wants a happy life with her mates and is determined to work things out so she can have it. Paige is a fighter and fighting is what she is doing, against antiquated ways such as trying to own her sexuality, fighting a system that has been placed in her small town since forever, and is determined to change the status quo.

Paige is really good at connecting with her guys, the bond between all of them is really growing in this story. I've gotten more insight through past stories about a few of Paige's mates, the information that was revealed explains a lot about their personalities and a little about why things are the way they are. Declan, Mason, and Lorcan each got to me, their stories really got into my heart and made me see them in a new light, made me understand them better. However much attraction there is between Paige and the guys (and there were a lot of good steamy scenes) this wasn't instalove. Paige is working on her connections to all of them, even the ones that she knew before. They have to work on their relationship but they are coming together as a group and with Paige and it's adding to some of the mythology in the book.

The story got really wild and I loved it. So this book went a little deeper into the supernatural with more talk about the shifter gods, their religion, and some major player comes into play. A lot of things are dragged up and a bigger destiny is revealed. A lot of crazy stuff happened to Paige and the guys which are just revealing a bigger overall story that I can't wait to sink my teeth into. I really didn't see the story going this way and I love it, it was quite exciting. Not to mention that an unseen enemy is revealed. Not gonna lie I saw this coming a mile away, however, I just didn't see it going as far as it did, talk about mind-blowing. There is still a feminist air about the story, a woman owns her own power, own sexuality, being the boss in the situation but mixed in the story is also how people we're close to impact our lives, how our past shape who we are but doesn't have to define our present. Sam managed to pack a few key things into this story but manage to have everything flow perfectly.

Now that I've finished Come Out Swinging I have no idea what to do with myself. I loved the story and waiting for the next book is gonna destroy me. I thought I loved the first book, but this book was so much more. The emotions, the mystery, the hotter-than-heck mates, new mythology, scheming jerks, a study in different pack life, the excitement, the danger, the impossibility of it all. The wait for the next book is gonna be hard, my mind coming up with what can possibly come next and probably not even being close is just gonna have to do.

Just ok

I found to be a bit repetitive and slow. The relationships don't seem to develop much on a 1-on-1 level beyond sex. I found the sex scenes to seem a bit awkward where most of the guys are just watching Paige with some other dude, who they might not even know that well. It felt more like a weird hive mind thing than a sexy voyeur group thing...Overall, the plot was super easy to predict but still overly complicated. The villains were/are also a bit one-dimensional. Plus, (and this is a common complaint I have with romance books with strong female warrior types) Paige doesn't seem to do anything to maintain her strong physique and fighting abilities until she gets back to the city. Being that fit takes constant work and care...it makes it difficult to be believe she has (or had) a professional MMA career. Honestly, I don't feel compelled to read the last book. Will prob skip

WOW, these books are intense. This is not a light or fluffy story. This is awesome world building and amazing character development. This is deep emotional connections and slowly blooming love. This is downright dirty and brutal at times.

Reverse harem - 6 men in final harem
5/5 spiciness
Rape, abuse, trauma (Not towards FMC)
Abuse by family member (not towards FMC)
Subjugation of women (this is being rectified in the story)
A lot of religion in this series (a made up religion with warring Gods)

Wow! I don’t know what to say. Sam Hall has rendered me speechless with Come Out Swinging! As always, this story has a great pace, has so much emotion, and has really wonderful characters. I love the way Sam’s writing draws you in, ensnares you with its poetic prose style, and works its way through you until you literally feel the story.

This book finds Paige dealing with the aftermath of the attack. Recovery is what she needs but she is intent to fight for herself and her pack. Now, add to this that Paige learns the truth about her father’s death and her own role in the ensuing mystery that threatens everything and everyone she loves. Emotions are running high. Paige is deepening the bonds she has with each of the guys in her harem. I love how their connections are woven into the mythology that is being explained and explored!

I’m always amazed at just how well Sam can craft such perfectly imperfect characters. She builds these worlds that you feel you could walk right into and introduces us to these characters who are flawed and beautiful and you can’t help to fall in love. Come Out Swinging, like her other books, is chock full of steam. And I think what I love the most is that, despite the high steam level, these books are truly story driven. From the smallest, most innocuous conversation to the steamiest, sexiest, most sensual encounter between Paige and her guys, there is not one second of this story that isn’t taking place exactly where and how it was meant to occur.

I really love the way Sam makes her FMCs into such incredible heroines. Paige is no exception. Sam draws out the inner strength women innately have, allowing Paige to grow into it, allowing her to own her sexuality. And all while solving a mystery that involves pack law, mythology, and destiny. To say I’m excited for the next book in the series is an understatement.

The world building and plot of this series is just getting better and better.
PNR RH books are everywhere at the moment but I can honestly say that very few authors can write a book in this genre/trope to this calibre. I cannot wait for the final book in this series.

What just happened?

Ok so I absolutely LOVED the first book in this series. Like, couldn't put it down type of loved it. This book however kind of threw me for a loop. The story telling was rather confusing at times with Paige being thrown into some kind of visions all the time? It made it a little difficult to follow. I'm sure I got the gist of everything but a lot of the story left me feeling a bit lost.

It almost felt like 2 different authors decided to co-write this story but each taking a different book and without too much discussion about story style.

I'm still planning on reading the 3rd book but I won't be as stoked for it as I was for this one.

Strong start and finish.

Come out Swinging had a very strong start and finish, but kind of lost it a bit getting from one point to another. It starts off right where it left off, and the captivating plot continues to unfold and let us in on more secrets. But then, the story seems to dive off the deep end. It feels like a new plot was introduced and the old one was forgotten or lost, and it's confusing as to what is actually going on. Although that could be just reflecting the character's confusion of the events they're experiencing. Even though the individual scenes are still fun to read, it feels like the bigger picture is missing or lacking. However, it picks back up again at the end and gets back on track with the two plots somehow coming together. I'm excited to read the next book, although I'm hoping for a little more cohesion in the storyline. 😊

Emotionally Heavy

I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars. Normally I reserve 5 stars for books that really nail it (for my preferences). Books I end up buying. In this case, I felt some critical things were left unresolved still by the end of book two. Things I think should be a little farther along - especially given how meaty books one and two are. The quality of writing however is really strong, so on that merit alone I feel like 5 stars is fair. When in doubt I round towards the benefit of the author because I sincerely appreciate that they bring my favorite method of escapism and they put a piece of themselves out there, vulnerable.

This book was emotionally and plot heavy. There was a TON of metaphysical and supernatural events that went down and I don't mind saying I got a bit lost at times. I'm not sure if Father Wolf is a good guy or bad guy. I don't understand who Ulfiric (sp?) is, but I'm sure some of that will be cleared up in the next release.

For how lengthy book two is, there is very little that feels resolved between Paige and her guys. There was a long portion of the book where the group holds off on being physical because they don't understand why a specific thing keeps happening when they connect with each other. Because of that lost time together, it feels (to me) that her relationship is still not where it needs to be with Micha and Declan, and even Mason - though BIG progress with him by the end. None of the guys get much in the way of one-on-one time and many of them are feeling needy and insecure in their place with Paige and what value they bring to her or the group. We also haven't seen the guys grow at all towards a friendship or deep brotherhood with each other, which is typically a key ingredient in a successful harem. I'm hoping all of that clears up in the third book.

Why 5 stars then, you may ask?
The quality of writing. The mystery. The story. From the standpoint of the harem, this book bleeds off feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, guilt, sadness, unfulfilled wants and desires. It seems like Paige can only be with one guy every few days and so we don't see her connect with Zack again since his initial mate bonding with her in book one, even though he tells her on more than one occasion that he needs her. That lack of equal time for each guy makes the harem concept feel very shaky to me.

The overwhelming theme with the harem felt like disconnect and unfulfilled needs so I can't say I feel super good about the harem. But if you set that aside, the story and mystery that is building around Paige and what she is and what it truly means to be Ulva is like a wave that is steadily growing, gaining momentum. Book two brings us much deeper into the mystery and it has the early feelings of an epic plot in the making.

This is only book two, so I'm not overly worried about the lack of resolution but I'm not sure how many books are planned. If book three is the final book, there is a lot that needs to be resolved.

Paige woke to a pounding headache and a dark realization from the town coroner. Paige's father did not die of a stroke but of foul play. Now she is on a mission to find out who killed her dad and who hurt her while also trying to organize the fights for the Alpha position that she had set about to avoid choosing someone herself. Along the way she starts to explore what it means to be a nix and what power that may hold. When she touches on something bigger than her understanding with her men she finds out that she is the catalyst for change within the shifter world. But can she stay alive to fill that role?

I don't DNF a book easily. There is always that voice in the back of my head that tells me that if I quit now that there may be a time when I wonder what happened and have to start the series all over again. The question I asked myself when I find a grumble in my internal monologue as I reach for my ereader to start my reading time. If I am that against picking up that book and reading, should I even be reading it? There are so many books out there in the world and there is no way I will be able to read them all in my lifetime. So I need to make sure the time I spend reading I am devoting it to books I enjoy the stories of. This one was not for me.

Once the plot line twisted from Paige being simple a alternative version of a wolf shifter to something greater that involved what they essentially saw as shifter gods, it was done for me. I was enjoying watching Paige explore her identity and the mystery of her father's death but when they started hyping her up to be this all powerful being, I wanted to read no more. I have read too many books that turn that way over time and I always found them boring. A key to characters is making sure they have equal or more weaknesses to their strengths. I feel making the character essentially a goddess may be a little too strong.

I think if the book lost a bit of the extra fluff within it then it would be an interesting premise. But at 53% I tapped out.

I enjoyed Come Out Swinging and I could not put the book down. I fell asleep with my kindle open and dove back in as soon as I had some coffee this morning. About halfway through Come Out Swinging, I was slightly torn on how I felt overall, however I still needed to know what happened next. I think with how this book ended, the third and final book will flow more smoothly for me.

Along with the conflict over Paige's father's murder, her attack, and her hometown leadership vacancy, there's a plot line introduced involving shifter mythology and how it connects to the type of shifter that Paige is. There's a bigger purpose at play, but for me, the meshing of the two plot lines wasn't as cohesive until the end of the book. At the end, things seemed to come together and make more sense though. Some aspects of the mythology incorporation also didn't work as well for me with how a certain wolf god's presence interacted with Paige and her guys. I was also a bit confused over how some of the powers worked, some of which in fairness, they're working out still themselves.

Relationship-wise, Paige and her pack come together and connect in the ways that they need to, and for at least one of the guys, it feels like a FINALLY needs to be added. There's some fantastic emotional connection happening along with the physical, and those emotional connections will be crucial to the upcoming battle apparently. We get some more background and sense of who her mates are on a personal level as the emotional connections deepen. There's a bit more sexual exploration during the steamy times as the group works out what they like and there are one-on-one times along with some group time (still no MM for those wondering).

This book also has some darker moments that Ms. Hall provides some content warning for in a note at the beginning of the book, which I really appreciate when authors do that. The reason that Paige and her mates have a greater purpose is because of the darker underbelly of what's happening, that's being played out not just in her hometown but in other areas too. There are some very important side characters fleshed out in this second book and the villains also get more depth. I feel like all the important characters are multi-faceted in a great way.

I'm definitely going to pick up book 3 and see how Paige's story concludes to get to her HEA. I'm also intrigued at some of the possibilities for future stories in this world, especially post-Paige's group addressing what they need to do. I could see there being less mythology involved for those future stories potentially.

Once again – Sam Hall Come’s Out Swinging. Yes I went with the obvious pun. Shoot me.

This book was EPIC. Sam Hall created an interesting world where werewolves were created when ‘Father Wolf’s’ children attacked ‘Mother Moon’s’ Maiden. This is a back story she used in another series (Jailbreak) – and a twist on werewolves that I haven’t seen before and really like.

The blurb doesn’t really give you a lot to go on words wise but it actually summarizes the book perfectly. Book 1 left us in a very angst ridden moment and thankfully picks up exactly where we need it to. Paige and her men take you on a very interesting journey – and I never quite knew where we were going to go next. And absolutely loved every moment of the trip!

From the beginning you are given crazy plot twists, moments of complete angst, and crazy family members that make you want to rip your hair out.

Some little bits of awesome from the book to help you see why I love it so much.

My first love, my childhood sweetheart, just smirked at me, a devilish gleam in his eye. I just shook my head, promising death and destruction.

I absolutely loved the playfulness between Declan and Paige. Even in the midst of preparing for a take down they take a few moments for some fun.

But the thought of you dominating me, or me dominating you? Being forced to experience curious pleasures? That’s F***ing hot.

Well duh. I don’t need to say anymore do I?

So the next quote is right in the middle of some crazy shiz. But Sam Hall gives you this amazing writing that it still ends up being nothing but beautiful:

“I need you.” Declan breathed the words on me, a spell that sucked me under, that had my lips tilting up to meet his, that needed the crush of his when they collided with mine. I tilted my body back like a flower following the sun.

Like a freaking flower following the sun. Seriously.

And last – but most certainly not least…

Lorcan was brittle. He was constantly trying to reapply this hard coating to protect himself from the world around him, but under that? I’d caught glimpses of it, hadn’t I? I’d been warned yet here I was, utterly gutted by what I felt.

Only Sam Hall was such a way with words. Such a heart breaking moment written with pure class.

This series is very quickly riding its way to the top of my favourites. I cannot wait to see where things go with Paige, her men and the stupid bish that calls herself Paige’s family.

An awesome book 2 in the series from Sam!
.
We got hit hard emotionally with book 1 and I had believed it was Hall’s best work yet, but she certainly level upped in this one.
.
It has been amazing following Sam on her writing journey. Every book she writes gets better and better and I have loved watching her grow. This book was no exception. I loved the deep and emotional in the first book and I was really looking forward to where she took the book next. This book still had its emotional moments but I loved the balance of drama, action and thrill along with it this round.
.
Sam truly knows how to write and develop characters we will fall in love with and I love these characters more this round than when we first met them in book 1. There is a steady growth and engagement from them that is awesome to see and I love their chemistry and dynamic. It’s always fun, especially in a RH, following along as characters work out their places and roles in their group. And because each have their own personalities and the males are quiet alpha it’s always entertaining also and it was all portrayed amazingly in this book.
.
We dive deeper into this world and I always love learning new shifter worlds. This world has its fair share of fascination, intrigue and had my curiosity from the first page. I’m intrigued to see where Sam goes next for this series.

After reading Book One, which I enjoyed, but thought it was quite tame for Sam, Come Out Swinging hit me square between the eyes; this was the writing I'd been expecting in Lone Wolf, and it doesn't disappoint.
I love how Sam always has a dark, metaphysical figure lurking somewhere in the never never, but ready to make his presence known - I was waiting for Father Wolf to make an appearance, and am glad he did.
This book took a turn that I wasn't quite expecting, but yet, I was pretty positive that I knew who the bad relative was, I just didn't expect that person to be quite so ambitious and cold (no spoilers here).
The insight that we get into Paige's harem answers so many questions, and serves to create an intrigue into where the next book will take us. Seeing Kailee in the prologue also made the anticipation for the continuing storyline just that little bit more exciting.
As weird as it's going to be to say this, but I'm not one for gratuitous sex scenes which add nothing to the storyline. This time however, I felt that the majority of Paige's encounters were necessary for the development of both the characters, and her relationships with each of them, and all them as a pack. We later see the necessity of these connections for the strengthening of the pack bond.
I genuinely look forward to reading the next instalment in this series.

Well. That got weird. I have questions that I don’t want answered. Best not to think about it.

Just.
Why is your possessed mate calling you ‘my daughter, my lover’ while he goes down on you? I know I have issues, but luckily, I’m not that far gone.

Plus, what the hell is going on?

Anyway.

I’m also not thrilled they abandoned someone, who is apparently integral to the operation, to be assaulted!! when the person in question already thought less of themselves in relation to acceptance and priority in the harem.

No amount of therapy will fix what their dismissal inflicted.

And we’re sticking with her being an ‘ulva’ …?
Really?
That doesn’t… ring any body part bells to you?

There’s a grand reveal at 73% that makes no sense.
We have no idea what they’re talking about and the context is of no help.

This ends a chapter and the next doesn’t pick up the thread until my patience was thoroughly tested.

It’s long.
A lot of additional stuff and stuff I could’ve lived without.

Lot of heavy heart to hearts.

I don’t think I’ll ever forget Mason’s backstory.
This author writes so vividly that it’s a gift and yet a curse when living vicariously through something so heartbreaking.

It all left me stressed out in various ways and reasons, and I can only hope the next book is a bloodbath.

This was the second book in the RftM-series. I think the focus in book 2 definitely was the development of the harem . We know now who belongs to Paige and she pretty much seals the deal with all of them. The story has tendencies of insta love and insta devotion BUT it doesn't really bother you. The guys really put themselves out there and show Paige exactly how obsessed they are and even though Paige takes mates left and right, it doesn't feel over the top to me - at least not in a bad way. The guys are all pretty good characters, I even kind of got into Mason. He redeems himself even though he still seems more reluctant than the others. The situation in Paige's hometown escalates and she has to leave with her guys to regroup and find a way to deal with it. And I kind of liked that book 2 focused more an the connections between Paige and her guys, instead of giving us a huge showdown in Paige's hometown, even though there are quite a few 'shocking' new developments. Overall the book is solid work, like all of Sam's books. I have to say the RftM-series will not be my favorite series BUT I finished book 1 and 2 and was enjoying the story.

This is the 2nd book in the Reach for the Moon series and boy does it pack a punch!! Come Out Swinging jumps right in where the 1st book left off and there is very little down time for Paige and her mates since she came back to town.

Paige’s being a nix takes a rather dramatic turn as we see her get closer to her men and formalizing their mate bonds. While I have to admit that Paige’s 6th mate didn’t really surprise me, I have to thank Mother Moon that he appears to have had a complete personality transplant!!! The dynamic between Paige and her men is so diverse. They are all so different and the way they interact with her and the way they all practically worship her the way a queen should be worshipped is amazing to see unfold. Because I have a feeling Paige is about to cop a lot of backlash as she comes out as a nix to the rest of the town and its surrounds.

I loved that we got Mason and Zach’s backstory and what it was like with their own mother being a nix. Plus, it was great to have an understanding as to why Mason is the way he is and the way that he has kept Paige at arm’s length.

Now to wait not so patiently for the next book…….

This book jumps right into the action where we left off last with Paige being attacked. Luckily she was found in time and rushed to hospital.
As we learnt in the last book someone had actually murdered the previous Alpha, Paige’s father. It looks like someone is trying to knock off the hierarchy of heirs.
Paige and her men investigate, they trust no one but their little pack. Although Aidan does assist and is in this book quite a bit.
Paige and her men Lorcan, Zack, Micah, Mason, and Declan have some off the charts sex scenes throughout this book - they are honestly hot AF!
Paige realises she needs to understand what she is. - a Ulva or more commonly referred to as Nix.
I don’t want to give away too much, but I will say this book was fantastic. It had me on the edge of my chair and not able to put it down as I just had to know what was going to happen next with the twists and suspense.
It’s extremely well written, which all of Sam’s books are. They are written with such detail you feel like you are there.
Thanks for an awesome read!

Wolf gods and nix’s and Mother Moon... oh my!!

Come Out Swinging, book 2 in the Reach For The Moon series by Sam Hall, drew me in from the very first page. Book 1 leaves off with a major cliffy so book 2 picks up right where we left off, with Paige fighting for her life and fighting for her pack. From there we are thrown into an epic mystery; what is Paige and why is she such a threat? What powers does she possess and how are they connected to the wolf gods of the past? There’s sinister forces at play and her harem is incomplete, friends from the past are more than they seem and there’s deep betrayal from some who were meant to look after her. The story leaves us with some answers and a look into the battle that Paige and her harem will be facing in book 3.

As usual, the book continues to build upon the magical world Sam has created and we get to explore the depths of Paige’s harem, what motivates them and what makes them tic. Another must read series by Sam Hall!!

In book 2 we pick up right where we left off in book 1. I love seeing Mason’s softer side right away. As we delve deeper into the story we automatically see that this book is more focused on the relationship building between Paige and her men. I was also shocked to see Paige’s harem grow?!!

We finally get some answers to Adam’s murder which opens up a whole new can of worms. As the story continues we’re also able to see just what it means to be a Nix as well as the heritage behind it. Paige is truly a amazing FMC and I love seeing her men continue to support and build in their love together. Now, after all that I will say the story is a bit hard to keep up with at least for me. I found myself having to go back and reread just to make sure I understood.

There are a lot of truths to unpack in this book and I just love seeing the story unfold. So far this series is wonderful and I can’t want for book 3.

This book was tough for me to get through, and I found myself skimming and skipping to try to get through it. There are a lot of areas where the dialogue skips or the scene skips and it was just too much. Even the FMC's character skips around - sometimes she suffers from TSTL and other times she's an awesome bad ass character. Where is the consistency.
*A LOT* of new characters and places in this one, as the plot has absolutely gone haywire after book 1. It's so preachy! Even the growth in the characters is preached at us.

I really was hoping that this book would end after book 2 so I don't have to work through this writing style in order to find out what happens to the FMC in book 3, as I'm actually quite invested with the FMC and want to know. Sometimes, in a trilogy, book 2 ends up being basically a throwaway. Without reading book 3, this second book definitely feels like it's a throwaway.

Omg I went into this book expecting it to be the last because originally Sam said was to be a standalone but she ended up with to much for one book. Now I will take a piece from the book and say NO NO NO NO! This better not be the last book!

I don't want to ruin it for readers so heres my ARC reader try not to spoil it to bad thoughts.

You get a more in-depth look at each mate all 6... yep 6 not 5. You learn more about her as well. About what she is and her true powers. You learn why the nix are what they are. You learn she's not the only nix in the family. You learn who murdered, yes murdered, her dad and why. You learn who in the pack you can trust and who needs to be put down! If that's not enough though in a pesky Father Wolf f'ing with them at first! You start this book and hang on for one hell of a ride!

I don't know that I have enough I can say about this book (in a good way). So this book takes the turn starting w/ Paige recovering from her attack but she's not about to let that keep her down. She has to find out the truth about her dad no matter what. I loved that Paige decides to take ownership of her men. And for those of you that were like me that were disappointed in Mason, well he has redeemed himself and has earned his place by Paige's side.

So I don't want to give too much away but the truths we discover in this book - are great and to the lengths that some people will go for things can still surprise you. I felt anger and betrayal and I hope that these people get what's coming to them.

As always Sam Hall manages to pull lots of emotions from her readers and again she didn't disappoint. Can't wait for the final book.

Come Out Swinging is such an amazing read!! This book's focus and style was very different from Lone Wolf. This book picks right up where the first book left off and then the focus of this one is the relationship building between Paige and her mates. Zach and Lorcan still remain my favorite in her RH and the addition of Aiden possibly being a mate was a great surprise. Father wolf stirs things up and adds twists at every turn. I feel like the look into where Mason was coming from makes up for what he put Paige through and he has redeemed himself by the end. The heat is off the charts in this book and was beautifully executed giving you all the feels as you read. In true Sam Hall fashion there is a big reveal at the end that leaves you pulling out your hair waiting for the next book. Thank you Sam Hall for another amazing book!!

Swing and hit

Come out swinging is the second book in Sam Hall’s Reach for the Moon series and picks up where the first book left off. I honestly didn’t think that the author would be able to top the first book, but she’s done it! The story delves deeper into all the characters and the dynamic between the pack gets better developed. Characters who were previously in the background step up to the plate and get a chance to shine, which is fantastic, while the intrigue around the history of a nix and around the happenings in Lupendorf gets further explored. Hall does an excellent job of writing a believable villain, one whose motive is explained and explored and who you can’t help but love to hate. Looking forward to the next instalment of this series, and would definitely recommend for fans of shifter books with a strong heroine.

Home run!

I am going to keep this review pretty short and sweet. Book two starts with addressing the cliffhanger in book one. Thank goodness! Questions get answered as new questions emerge. Don't expect to have a calm peaceful read. This book is an emotional Rollercoaster full of all the twists and turns one would expect from a Sam Hall book. As the FMC continues to develop her relationships with her men, she also learns about herself and her heritage. There was just too much information and revelations packed into this book to truly do it justice. Read it. Savor it. Sam Hall is a masterful storyteller and I devoured this book. Don't pass on it. I can't wait to read book three. Nancy needs to get hers and the FMC needs a happily ever after. She and her men have been through enough, but I suspect there will be a lot more to come in the next book.

This second book in what is expected to be a trilogy is big! Big action sequences, big love, big harem and big betrayals. But in amongst all of this is atonement for past wrongs, revelations that stun and some metaphysical happenings that are so amazing, it almost feels like you are there. This heroine is strong, both physically and in confidence but she's also dealing with the loss of her father, returning home to a town full of back stabbing people but also her newfound (some refound) loves. I loved seeing more of one of Paige's cousins and can definitely see that there is potential for a spin off. I definitely think Mason has proved himself! Can't wait for the epic conclusion - its going to be explosive!

I have no words....

I don't know that I have enough words to describe just how good this book was. I actually finished reading it a couple of days ago but I had to let it percolate before writing this. So this book took a total left turn in the best way possible - Paige is recovering from her attack but she isn't about to let that keep her down. She has to find out the truth about her dad no matter what. I loved that Paige finally decides to take ownership of her men. Oh and did I mention there are now 6 mates not 5? Yeah at first I was like No Way! But by the end I was like he needs a hug and his new family... Mason definitely redeemed himself in my eyes and has earned his place by Paige's side.

So I don't want to give too much away but the ending, the truths we discover in this book - let's just stay my jaw dropped and stayed that way for some time. Then all I felt was anger and betrayal and I hope that witch gets what's coming to her in the most painful, horrific way possible.

As always Sam Hall manages to pull lots of emotions from her readers and I don't think was the exception. I cannot wait to see what's next.
