A late-night terrifying encounter changes everything for Ava Winston. Walking on a dark night to a karate trial, she didn’t pay attention to the fog until she heard snarling and hissing in an alley. Unable to see anything clearly, she heard bodies slam and Redmond’s alpha panther – Flint Abrams – killed the drug-crazed cheetah who had been harming pack members. The panther got her scent and pinned her to the wall, licking and imprinting her scent before he let her go and went back to the alley. Finally she ran.
Ava’s roommate, Abby Martin, was disgusted with the smell in their apartment. Ava told her about the fight between what sounded like two big cats, and how she ran and dove under a parked vehicle, only to roll in urine and grease. She took two showers, but nothing got rid of the smell. She has an early karate session to train bouncers at Durango’s bar, right next to that alley! Abby said not to worry, the owner of the bar would take her mind off her bad experience. Flint Abrams was absolutely unforgettable! But Ava is not interested in a player. When she arrived, Motorfat, the big bar manager, was expecting a man and was concerned this tiny young woman wouldn’t be much help training the 200+ pound men. The men’s smirks didn’t help much. Thinking it was a joke, they were about to go back to bed. She then proceeded to teach them what they had to know, and they asked Flint when he called in later if they could book another session.
When Flint got in that evening, he scented her. He went upstairs to check the video but didn’t see anything that fit her description. Motorfat and Remmy (who had let her demo her throat punch gently) asked why he was so tense and he told them. They walked the floor to see if they could find her, but said it could have been a friend of hers that she hugged since the scent was so mild. But they confirmed she wasn’t there.
When Ava got home, Abby told her that she talked to a shifter friend of hers who explained when a big cat licked you, he was marking and now had her scent. He could find her anywhere. The only reason he didn’t find her that night was that she had gone under the car to hide and rolled in urine and grease. It disguised her scent from him. But she wasn’t doing any more training but was concentrating on perfecting her “sixth dan” for her black belt. She would be staying home so should be safe. But Motorfat called and begged her, payment in advance, for two hours of training. The guys really appreciated the training and wanted a follow-up. So she agreed. Meanwhile Flint was more and more restless, her scent imprinted on his tongue. When he told Motorfat and Remmy, Remmy knew something but kept his mouth shut. But that Friday, the second training session, Flint came back early and walked in, meeting eyes with his woman and she knew this was the panther she had seen in the alley. She grabbed her gear and left. Flint scented her desire for him and knew she would be back. But three days passed and never even called.
He is hurt and astonished that she isn't interested in him. Will she come back? Will she give him Just One Chance?

A well written story that grab my interest from the start and did not let go until I had finished reading it. Ava Winston and Redmond’s alpha panther – Flint Abrams' story of suspense, drama, danger, villains, one very strong woman, and a strong caring man. This is a new Author to me. I found the story to be well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This a a good paranormal romance that I enjoyed reading. I love the escape that I had to a new world within this book. I loved it!
