Never touch a grumpy Bat
By: Rosie Greening

Our Halloween book collection started off with this funny book series that we keep adding too.

My girls love these types of books with all the funny pictures and most of all touching the different types of materials.

It's a keeper for us.

One of our recurring Halloween books. We read this 4 times tonight and each time shouting Happy Halloween at the end is my favorite even if it is September but we are going through our Halloween books already!

Little One has had us read this repeatedly lately and we have to turn it "upside up!" because of the upside down bat. Also likes to say "lazy bones!" Another great addition to the collection.

Nugget tried to sled on this across the floor and ruined his book but still likes to pet the bat.

Cute book. It wasn't bad, but the grumpy bat on the front doesn't make another appearance in the book.

Solid addition to our fall collection. Featuring those silicone touchy bits Oz loves. Thanks so much to Panarese cousins for getting us hooked on tactile books like this. In heavy rotation already.

4.5 rounded to 5. Good touches, not sure why everyone had to be grumpy though. Husband replaces the word skeleton with mommy as a joke.

I think young children would love this book! The rhymes are very fun and it is spooky enough to fit in with a fall and Halloween theme in school or at home.
This book is extremely engaging and encourages touching and exploration. Whether the book is read together or by themselves, children will love to play.
The story shows about 5 pages with different types of "feelers" on each page that feel like they belong to the character shown. This spooky-themed book has a picture of bats on the first page and it explains in a short rhyme why you should never touch a grumpy bat. The story then shows a grumpy ghost, pumpkin, skeleton, and finally, all of the characters together having a party.
The story is meant to be fun and engaging and to encourage exploration in the book. It invites touch with the heavy pages and unique designs.

This is a funny little book that is centred around the archetypal Halloween characters; Bat, Skelton, Ghost and Pumpkin.

I initially bought this book thinking it would be a book about Bats (given the title, not a far stretch of the imagination) but as a Witch who adores Hallowen kidlit, I was not disappointed!
Note to self, maybe double check the synopsis before purchasing lol?!

There are delightful rhymes, lovely character based individual stories and textural fun to be had with this book and I can certainly see this tactile book being included in MANY Boo Baskets this Halloween.

My toddler loves touching the pictures, especially because it says not to
