K J Carr has always been a voracious reader, often bringing home a stack of all genres of books each week from the library as a child. She read romance, science fiction, fantasy, historical romance, self-help -- basically if it was in the library, she would read it. Luckily she was allowed into the adult section when she was around ten since she was reading eight or more books per week.

When she was older, book stores became her happy place, able to spend hours looking for books to purchase (and to increase her debt).

These books caused her imagination to soar and she started writing her own stories. Unfortunately, life got in the way and writing was put to the side for a while, albeit never forgotten.

After reading about heroines whom she just wanted to slap, she decided she would write about the characters she wanted to hang out with. Those who try to conquer their worlds with wit and snarkiness.

Novella

This is a fill in the blanks for Lark and Lily. I enjoyed finding out their background story. How their parents tragically died as well as the other pup that was never named in the full novel. His death was never explained. Only that he didn't make it. It also never explained who for sure killed the parents. Was it the bounty hunters looking for true wolves or not? Guess we will have to see who Lark and Lily naturally go after in upcoming books.

I think I should have read this book first,everything becomes clear after reading it.These children have suffered so much loss.Maybe whatever is coming will help them get over their losses. Read this book,the story is great.

While reading the synopsis on 'Hybrid' it mentioned 'Gatekeeper' was the prequel to this series so I got it before starting the series and was not prepared for the ending!!😢. I am sorry I read it because all I want to do scream WHY!! Hoping the series is better.😟🙏

great read as an addition to the rarewolves series

Can be read as a one off but you will really want to read the rest of this series to find out what happens with Lily and Marcus (Lark) as they grow into their powers

Loved the story. Gives you the background on Lark (Marc) and Lillie. It is sad what happened to the family but gives you insight as to what they can become.
