I was so excited to read the start to this new paranormal series that follows triplet sisters who find out they’re from a long and powerful line of witches. It promised adventure, magic and romance.
Granted the story has all of this but the characters weren’t what I was expecting.
January is having difficulty tapping into her magic (thinking you were human all your life will do that to you!) so her estranged aunt decides to force her magic to awaken and what better way then elevating strong emotions? Specifically in life and death situations.
To save her sisters from certain danger, January agrees to go on a mission and retrieve a power amulet from a vampire bent on revenge. So far so good right? Well, the story pretty much looses me after this.
We meet Ozias, who is hell bent on avenging his sister’s death. Nothing wrong with that, she was betrayed and then framed by someone close to her and died a pretty gruesome death. What I found hard to accept was that Ozias is a cold blooded killer. He constantly tells you that he doesn’t see humans as people, but rather as food. He can play with them (aka have sex with them) but ultimately they are food and he has zero remorse or guilt over killing pretty girls that catch his eye.
I can’t fall for a literal monster who doesn’t care how many lives he takes just because he considers himself top of the food chain. Half way through, I was still expecting to see some kind of emotional/character growth from him that showed he changed, that he valued human life but I got zilch.
The first impression I got of him was him mooning over his sister and then he meets the heroine and he is 100% ready to kill her. Only reason he doesn’t? He is compelled not too by some unseen force.
We later find out it’s because they are soulmates or something. It got a little fuzzy the more I skimmed.
That’s another thing, the story is okay but could have been better if we at least solved one mystery about the sisters. Instead we get a lot of what-ifs and mysteries but nothing concrete to go on. For example, we don’t know why Oz and January are drawn together, which seems extra important simply because without this mysterious pull between them, Oz would have killed January without hesitation earlier in the book. Just saying it needed closure. Than there’s the fact no one talks about the girls’ mom, her death or how they ended up being raised as humans instead of by their witch family.
I get that this is an ongoing series but I felt like too much was introduced and nothing got resolved.
Memorable Moments: I will say this had some really sassy heroines. January and her two sisters were funny, in a snarky in your face kind of way and they had some comedic moments throughout. I think Holliday was my favorite. She seemed more mature, less catty and all around more likable than the other two. Aspen is a toss up.
I also really liked the Shadow Walking magic. It was definitely a unique skill that comes with it’s ups and downs.
Would I recommend? This is the first of a series. Not sure I’ll continue with the next one.

Shadow Bound by Sorcha Dawn is book one in the The Kingsley Witches Trilogy. I flew through this book, once I started reading I could not put it down! The world was described in such a way I felt as if I was watching a movie instead of reading. I could picture everything in the greatest of details. This book had it all for me, paranormal romance, witches, magic, adventure, intrigue and have I mentioned the scorching hot characters yet? No? What’s wrong with me? There’s amazing scorching 🥵 characters! There a triplet sisters, a vampire on a mission that nothing will deter him from, and the whole mystery of the sisters magic. 🪄🪄 Each book seems to be about the individual sister but with an interconnecting storyline. (That’s the best kind in my opinion 😊)
This book is January and Ozias’s book, a witch and a vampire. (Oh my 🥵🥵) I loved that this was a enemies to lovers and if I may with a dash of forbidden love tossed in the mix. I enjoyed the dilemma that Ozias faced with either protecting January or his quest to avenge his sister. (Have I mentioned how amazing this book was written?!?) I was rooting for this couple from the moment they met and enjoyed everything I read in between. When I finished, I was spellbound… I still wanted more. I’m so invested in learning about the sisters mother, more of the origin of their magic. What will happen with the sisters… speaking of, I can’t wait to read Aspen and Holliday’s books. I need more!!!! Do yourself a favor if you love a good paranormal romance, read this trilogy. Sorcha Dawn has written an amazing world, you should come get lost in it with me.
Final review:
An easy 5 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ January and Ozias scorching romance 5 out of 5 flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Their relationship was amazing! 🥵❤️)
This is the first book of the Kingsley Witches and introduces you to the three sisters and their journey towards finding their way in a world they did not understand. Fast paced and full of action, romance, and intrigue.
This is book 1 in the Kingsley Witches series. I recommend reading in order as the books all tie together in one continuous storyline. Each story follows one of the sisters (January, Aspen and Holiday) who are triplets. There is found family, romance, mysteries and secrets. I recommend this to all readers who enjoy PNR with a few laughs thrown in because let me tell you...I busted out laughing a few times in this story!
Shadow Bound follows January and Ozias Although you do have a bit of background and world building in this story to set ups he next 2 books, it mainly focuses on January. I loved her sassy attitude and take no prisoners behavior. January loves fiercely and will protect those who mean something to her. She is sent on a mission to retrieve a stolen artifact. It just so happens that the thief is Ozias, a very strong and powerful vampire and January can't figure out how to use her magic. The story is their journey and discovery of not only hidden powers but betrayal and a bit of mystery oh and don't forget the romance..... I loved the action and banter in this story. The dialog between Ozias and january had me cracking up. I was snort laughing in a few spots. This really is a fun read and truly enjoyed the story. January's sisters are just as snarky so I am excited for their stories as well. I am looking forward to continuing the series and find out some of the questions I had at the end of this story. I give this one 5 stars.
This was the first book Ive read by this author. I am a judge on covers and I am so glad i liked it and read this. It was evenly paced the entire book, and you really got to see January grow into a woman. And the spice was nice but not overwhelming. ( I could have done with some more spice scenes) I cant wait to start the second book when it arrives. The enemies to lovers was quite endearing with how much both characters fought against it, but you feel like you fall in love with them. The world building was done beautifully as well as charcter background. I am just hoping the next books will explain the binding for the triplets.
If you love enemies to lovers, witches, and vampires with magic and mystery and hidden powers, you definitely need to read this book and the two that follow.
January, Aspen and Holliday thought they were just normal humans, but they are far from it. After finding out they were all born witches with their powers bound from their mother, they all have to learn what their powers are.
This first book focuses on January and Ozias! After Ozias gets a taste of January's blood, he becomes obsessed with her and her with him, but then a demonic force tries to rip them apart. Never underestimate the power of a witch! I can't wait to read the next 2 books! Go get these!
Wow!! First, to find out you and your sisters are witches, be taken away from the only life and mother you’ve ever known, THEN fall in love w a vampire!! A BAD BOY vampire, at that! I have to admit, at first I thought Aradia was a good sister, but why is she treating the triplets with so much hate and anger? Why won’t she tell them the truth about their mother? I can’t wait to read more!
I enjoyed this book. I like the plot and main characters. Fast paced action and romance. January and her sisters start their journey to discover their magic powers. I hate how their aunt gives them little help to develop their powers. The sisters didn't do much to ask other people about their parents until near the end. I will be reading the rest of the series.
I wanted to like this so bad. It’s rough. The writing is okay. The storyline is…eh…needs development. The story is also just jumpy. At the 20% mark, the MC’s haven’t even met. You also still have no idea what’s going on, or what the world is, or just so much.
This author needs help with the world building, because while this book has potential, it falls short. And even though the writing isn’t poor, it isn’t stellar. DNF.
What a way to start a series. I couldn’t put this book down. I loved all the characters and the love hate relationship between January and her vampire was hilarious. The girls just bounce of each other and we can all relate to at least one of them. The story flowed from start to finish. I’m definitely heading to book two can’t wait to get stuck into Aspen’s story
Finding out you're a legacy witch and a shadow walker all while falling fora dangerous older vampire who was supposed to be your mark to take down!! Check! Not to mention uncovering the mystery of who they're parents were even with their dead mothers twin sister overseeing their magical training but refusing to say word one. Look forward to book two!
This is the first in the Kingsley Witches trilogy and it did not disappoint! It’s a quick read and I devoured it!
January and her two sisters have lead a normal life until the day they get an invitation from their aunt to come to her home. There they find out the triplets are witches that have had their powers bound their whole lives by their mother to keep them hidden.
January hasn’t fully developed her powers and is sent to retrieve an artifact the vampire Ozias has stolen. Ozias captures her but the couple have instant chemistry. From there they become an unlikely duo running from a demon.
I love the fun banter between the two main characters and the spice level is hot! Such a fun read! Can’t wait to read the next in the series!
An enjoyable fast paced, enemies to lovers paranormal romance. There is plenty of action and adventure, not to mention so steamy romantic moments in this book. Once I got into the story it held me in the colourful world of political intrigue and the Kingsley triplets feel their way in their new life. Great characters with plenty of humour.
This was such a good book! Urban fantasy with witches who didn't know they were witches, having everything and everyone stacked against them! The banter was great, the feelings jumped off the page, and I liked that it was mostly story with just a little spice. I was in the middle of the book and I already knew I needed the rest of the books!
I have and unhealthy infatuation with vampires and this book did not disappoint. I’m in love with the sisters they are perfect. I hope to see more world and magic building in the rest of the series. We just started learning about the magic abs mythical creatures and I can’t wait for more.
Witches ( good ones bad ones, like literally not good at being a witch yet lol) , vampires, demons - a mix of several things with some mystery, chemistry and an entertaining story line. I enjoyed this book and I will definitely be on the look out for others!
I absolutely loved this book and had a blast reading it. It was so fun and unique. The magic system was unlike anything I’ve read before and everyone loves a good bruiting sexy vampire (you know it’s true) perfect start to a series. I can’t wait to see what the next book brings.
I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN!! I was completely OBSESSED with this book… SORCHAAAA!!! Ma’am what was in this book.? Magic, vampires, witches, romance and action non stop. All the great things I like in a book. This book was soooooo good.
If you are looking for something familiar with a new spin to it, here it is. This book had me hooked after the end of the first chapter, and it only got better as it went on. This was everything I expected it to be and more.
Amazing! The Kingsley sister's story starts with the oldest of the triplets January Kinsley. It is everything you want in a witchy romance. You definitely need to read this book.

I grew up with Buffy. I don’t shy away from empowered female leads. This book contains three of them.. sisters, triplets. Living as human, through college no less, then trust into the supernatural world. I love that each is unique. Each personality shines. This first book centers on one of the sisters. And I’m pretty sure that each book will focus on a different sister (book names might be hints, not sure yet). But the "side character sisters" are extremely important nonetheless.
This is very much a present-day era book.. language, dress, references. It was fun and energetic. Believable. I generally have a hard time picturing scenes. But there was a movie in my head while reading this one.
The spicy scenes were mouth-watering. 🌶️
The author hooked me in and I can’t wait to read the next books!
This book had me on my toes. Was really good. I enjoyed it a lot. Was well written and glad it ended the way it did. I was so excited what I wanted to happen happened. Can’t wait for the next one!
