A charming love story about two young women who together discover that their dreams of a heart-pounding romance can indeed come true!
Yuu has always loved shoujo manga and fantasizes about the day that she too will get a love confession that will send her heart a-flutter. Yet when a male classmate confesses his feelings for her ... she feels nothing. Disappointed and confused, Yuu enters high school still unsure how to respond. That’s when Yuu sees the beautiful student council president Nanami turn down a suitor with such maturity and finesse that Yuu is inspired to ask her for advice. But when the next person to confess to Yuu is the alluring Nanami herself, has Yuu's shoujo romance finally begun?

I don’t have a lot to say about this book other than I enjoyed it. A really good coming of age story about women exploring their queer identities in a time and place where it is not very accepted. It was super interesting seeing this play out with queer representation and information being a lot less available and common. Also there’s aroace rep which is kinda awesome.
I think there were just a few minor cons. One was Touko falling in love with Yuu so quickly. I do not believe in love at first sight so this just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it’s a me issue but I truly cannot understand how you can love someone without knowing them. Now Yuu very clearly has some internalized homophobia she is dealing with, so it takes her a while to realize that she likes her back, even when it’s quite evident to us as readers and to some of the other characters. However, I do wish her realization was a bit more dramatic. It felt like the author just felt like it was time for her to realize it without diving much into the struggle of coming to terms with her emotions.
Overall tho super enjoyable, once again making me feel lonely. Happy pride month. 9/10

I've often seen Bloom into You called an essential yuri manga and yeah, it's extremely easy to see why. It's the perfect length (trust me these girls start kissing *quick*), it's considerate and sensible with it's endearing cast and subject matter, it has depths in ways that aren't particularly innovative for your stock school romance but still give you something to chew on beyond the lovey-dovey romance and it's unyielding in its sincerity and optimism. All the greatest hits of the school romance genre are here and the execution couldn't be better.
This is a great manga for a lot of reasons. I know that it is commonly considered a fan favorite. Its not perfect and has some problematic bits, (like most manga it seems….) but nothing too significant. I never know how to rate manga, maybe this is only 4-stars and maybe its 5, but considering I have read it a few times over the years I think it deserves full marks.
This is a good length, not too long but long enough to have some very decent character development. Both of the main characters (and some of the side characters) have great character development and characterizations. The plot is simple but satisfying. The art style is nice, clean, and easy to read. Just the right amount of drama!
I didn’t realize until this reading that the main protagonist is likely A-spec, likely demi-aromantic. It is not explicitly addressed in the story and I always thought that part of the story/character was a bit “convenient/strange”. I don’t know if this interpretation was intended or not, but regardless I like it!
Sooooo good omg. A truly unique take on a romance story with such interesting explorations of sexuality, attraction, and what love actually feels like. Great characters with really good growth, and the art is so cute and gorgeous!
