I have only read one other book by Tracey J. Lyons before but after reading THE AMISH TEACHER’S WISH I will read every book she has written. I instantly felt like I was sitting at the Fischer kitchen table helping Sadie try and figure out what direction her life was heading to. Nineteen-year-old Sadie Fischer is the community’s school teacher. She is filling in for the previous teacher while the school board looks for a permanent teacher. THE AMISH TEACHER’S WISH is filled with just as much hope as it is with sadness. My emotions were all over the place while reading and I was even holding my breath at some parts that I was afraid to keep going.

THE AMISH TEACHER’S WISH is filled with struggling with the choices we have to make and once you start reading, it will be impossible to put down. When Levi, Jacob’s cousin, who is in Miller’s Crossing to help him with his shed business, comes to help repair the schoolhouse that was recently damaged during a bad storm, Sadie sees the man as a possible answer to her prayers. Keep the tissues close by because this will be one heck of an emotional journey. Tracey J. Lyons does a wonderful job of teaching the reader what Sadie is going through. She really knows how to write about family drama, heartbreak, and forgiveness. I can not wait to read more by this wonderful and heart tugging author.

THE AMISH TEACHER’S WISH is filled with likable and relatable characters that will find their way into the reader’s heart. Tracey has a way of grabbing your heart and just squeezing it until you swear it is going to burst. Then she hands it back to you, slightly bruised but still in tact. How an author can do that is beyond me, but I love when it happens. THE AMISH TEACHER’S WISH is going to stay in my heart for a long time to come. My heart is still aching for Levi.

The setting is a small town Amish community in New York and at the particular time a storm has don’t major damage to the school house and needs fixing. Levi Byler just recently moves in the community and is the person most qualified for the job. But he makes sure he’s not a candidate for matchmaking before he takes on the job. But could Sadie really make promises?

One in a while I just love sitting down and reading a good calming Amish read. Even though they have their own issues, I still get that warm calm feeling reading Amish and this book was perfect for that read Levi has a hurtful past that’s the reason he doesn’t want to find love and Sadie has her own problems with her dad wanting her to marry an older Amish man she doesn’t want to marry. So we follow the journey of both these characters through many ups and downs and watching Levi handle raising the damaged school. I enjoyed this Amish read. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and watching their develop throughout the story. Ms. Lyons’ does a great job of research and writing this sweet story. And I can’t waiting for more books from this author in the future. If you love Amish books, I encourage you to check this one out as your next read. You will love it.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

A well-paced Amish romance story with a varied cast of characters . . .

This story is set in a small Amish community, Miller's Crossing, located in upstate New York. Nineteen-year-old Sadie Fischer is the community's school teacher. She is filling in for the previous teacher while the school board looks for a permanent teacher.

Sadie loves working with her scholars, and she uses innovative methods to help them reach their educational goals. She is organized and skilled as a teacher, but she has not yet gained the confidence she needs due to her inexperience and lack of positive feedback from the school board.

When a catastrophic summer storm moves through the community, the schoolhouse is severely damaged by a felled tree. The community immediately pulls together to get the school repaired in time for the school session to begin at the end of summer break. I am always heartened by this true-to-life practice of the Amish. They work together to accomplish common goals, and the author did a fine job of portraying this core belief in this book.

Sadie's personal life is a mess mostly because she is totally against marrying the older Amish widower her father has chosen to be her mate. Sadie is young and carefree, and she has definite ideas about the kind of man she wants to marry. Her father's choice does not suit Sadie in the least.

Levi Byler arrives in Miller's Crossing at his cousin, Jacob's, request. Jacob owns a shed business, and he is overwhelmed with the business's success. Levi is a skilled carpenter and a hard worker so it's a win-win situation for both of them. As the story unfolds, we discover the painful experience which led Levi to Miller's Crossing to build a new life for himself.

My favorite parts of this book were the quirky, yet believable, situations Sadie finds herself in when it comes to Levi. A few of the situations were laugh-out-loud funny to me. Some of their dealings were filled with angst and frustration because let's face it—these two are totally different people. One is an introvert; the other an extrovert. One is open and approachable when discussing difficult topics; the other is guarded and bashful. One is fun-loving and free-spirited; the other is reserved and introspective.

Throughout the story there are many examples of how the Amish faith plays a primary role in the lives of all of the characters. As different as they may be, Sadie and Levi share the same core beliefs of dedication to the Lord and their faith, love for their families, and loyalty to their community and its needs.

This book is completely clean in language and content.

I’m going to give away a tiny glimpse of this book without it being a spoiler: I came to love the character of Sadie when she got stuck in the mud and could not get out. Sadie is upbeat; talks a lot; headstrong; and dearly loves teaching her students in the Amish school. She loves her father and wants to please him. However, she finds she cannot love the older Amish man her father has picked for her as a husband. Instead, as they work on the school building together, she finds herself falling in love with Levi. Levi makes it plain to Sadie that he is not looking for a wife, but he’s secretly drawn to Sadie’s upbeat personality. But Sadie being Sadie, she doesn’t give up hope that she’ll find her happily ever after. This is a fun, yet heart-touching, story of faith and finding the path that God has for you.I think you’ll enjoy reading Sadie’s story and path to her “happily-ever-after”.

Not having read any books by Tracey J Lyons, I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I found The Amish Teacher's Wish to be a charming Amish romance. The story is set in a small New York Amish community where, as often is the case in a close-knit town, rumors and gossip run freely which sometimes creates impossible situations. Sadie loves her temporary placement as the schoolteacher and is trying to figure out how to get out of an arranged marriage her father is planning for her. Levi is in town to work with a cousin, trying to forgive and forget about a broken relationship. I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and mature throughout the story. Sadie, sweet, independent, with a firm belief in God, just wants true love while Levi just wants to selfishly drown in the sorrow of his heartbreak for a while longer. Beginning with a muddy tumble and continuing through a rebuild of the schoolhouse after a strong gale force storm with community meals and get-togethers this quick-to-read book kept my interest high. I am looking forward to reading more from this author and readers who enjoy stories about the Amish community and sweet romances (with a little sass from the characters) will not want to miss this one.

Sadie Fischer's father sees her as young and immature, he is determined to marry her off to an older widower, but Sadie is content as the district teacher. She would rather find love on her own terms.

When a storm blows through, damaging the schoolhouse, Levi Byler agrees to help with the repairs. Will working on the schoolhouse with Sadie help him mend his heart?

A sweet romance of second chances and moving beyond the past. Sadie loves her job, and is passionate about teaching and working with the children. I think she did a great job with organization, but was so frustrated with her father for pushing marriage at her.

Levi is a nice guy with a gruff exterior, he has lost in love before and has let that experience cloud his hope for the future. I did like him, but it took a while to warm to him, I liked that he didn't try to take over from Sadie but let her set out what needed to be done. He is a kind man, a good listener, but struggles to let himself love again.

Overall, an enjoyable Amish read about finding love, and letting go of the past. My heart went out to Sadie's sister Sarah who is ignored for much of the story, but I liked hw things turned out. An entertaining read with a sweet story of finding love when you aren't looking.

“The Amish Teacher’s Wish” by Tracey J Lyons, Love Inspired publishers.

Sadie is so proud to be the town’s teacher, and she is looking forward to the beginning of the new school year. But a severe storm damages the school house! The town rallies around to repair the school, but Sadie wants to help and make sure the repairs are done correctly. That means that she will have to work with Levi, the newest member of the community.

Levi’s heart was broken when his intended left him and the Amish faith to marry another man. When his cousin asks for help with his shed building company, Levi decides a new start in a new community is a wonderful idea.

As he works to repair the school building, he has to work with Sadie. She is a fine young woman with a mind of her own. She challenges him in the building process and in his own healing. Together, they work through various challenges.

This is an easy to read and charming book. The characters were well developed and the plot moved right along. I enjoyed this book.

Levi Fischer didn't come to Miller's Crossing to find love. He'd come to help his cousin, and to hopefully put his past behind him. One year ago, he thought he'd found the love of his life, but Anne didn't feel the same. She caused him pain, ruined his trust, and took away his faith in finding true love. Levi has no plans for another relationship, until he takes this temporary job with his cousin, and meets Sadie Fischer. Sadie, often headstrong, but oh, so full of life! Sadie, who doesn't want to marry the Amish man her father has picked out for her! Sadie, who is searching for someone who is 'not too old or not too young'!

This is a heartwarming look at two young people who appear to want different things. Sadie is positive that Levi is the man that God meant for her to love, and Levi is equally sure that he can't allow another woman into his heart. He just can't endure more heartbreak!

"I know your vader has someone in mind for you. Maybe you should consider his choice. Sadie, I'm not sure I'm the man who can be your 'not too old or not too young'."

Will Sadie be able to change Levi's mind? Does God's Plan for Levi include an Amish school teacher? The Amish Teacher's Wish is filled with fun, family, and faith, and it's an enjoyable read for those who like Amish romance.

Thank you in advance to the author, Tracey J. Lyons, for providing a complimentary review copy through JustRead Publicity Tours. A positive review was not requested or required, and all words are my own.

This was my first introduction to the author, and I was VERY impressed by her work. I was so impressed that I went and bought a nearly-new larger print (the only available edition) of A Love for Lizzie through an Amazon third (3rd) party seller.

While it isn’t MANDATORY to read the first book, I HIGHLY suggest it as Lizzie makes a significant appearance in this one. And, she even gets into some “match-making” with Sadie.

The cover of this book is absolutely adorable and precious. I immediately fell in love with Sadie’s misadventures as well as her personality. Levi was admittedly hard to get used to, but completely understandable. The other characters were realistically written.

I loved the entire plot of the story. I could feel every emotion the characters were going through.

Lyon’s writing definitely moved the story along quite quickly. So much so that this was a “day read” for me, especially with the shorter chapters. It was very difficult to put it down for any length of time. I could barely even take notes.

The author’s writing is vivid and descriptive and you can almost feel as though you’re right there. The use of authentic Amish language makes it very realistic. There was a slight typo with a character’s name on page 19, but not so much it would hinder the overall enjoyment of the story.

Right off there is a bit of a concern, but Sadie’s handling of it is definitely not dignified, but it is amusing. However, it is Levi who comes to her rescue, and there are no sparks at first.

But, she also has another issue – her father arranging a marriage between her and older Isaiah. Clearly not a match she wants.

Levi isn’t looking for a romance either – he’s looking for a fresh start after a broken romance. And, the reason is absolutely heartbreaking. Though, he understands what Sadie is going through – they are at the time in life where everyone is talking about courtships.

It isn’t long until Isaiah and Sadie have to work together to repair the school after a storm. As a teacher, her work with Levi leads to some uncomfortable situations and scolding.

As the story progresses it isn’t really hard to see what is coming, especially on Sadie’s side. Even Levi is shocked about his own feelings.

One interesting quote on page 146 – “… you need to let go of your past. Otherwise you’ll never find the happiness you deserve” – was definitely eye-opening and endearing.

Another back-story involved a young student, Mica, who was having issues. And a confrontation between his parents and Sadie is a bit alarming. Though there is, after all, a deeper reason that will quickly be resolved.

Readers will see a shock regarding Isaiah and Sadie. And, truthfully, I did see that one coming. But, I was curious as to why Sadie’s father kept pushing her towards Isaiah as it didn’t really make sense.

Lyons kept drawing out the romance until the very end in a surprising fashion.

This is a beautiful story of not just second chances, but watching a community coming together for the greater good. This was definitely a heartwarming and loving story.

As this is distributed by Love Inspired, there will be references to faith and God, along with themes of redemption. Fans of Amish romance will more than likely love this read. If readers have read the first book, they will no doubt love this one!

I can’t wait until the next book of this series.

Amish Fiction is my FAVORITE Genre to read. Love Inspired Book series
are also a FAVORITE of mine. Love Inspired books are short books, but
they really pack a good story into the novels.

Sadie Fischer is the temporary teacher at the School in the Amish Community
of Miller's Crossing in New York. The School House is damaged by
a storm and needs repairs. Levi Byler has come to Miller's Crossing
to help his cousin Jacob with his business. Levi Byler is asked to fix the
School House and he agrees to repair it. Sadie Fischer has a wish to marry
soon, but hasn't found "the one". Sadie's Dad has someone in mind for her,
although Sadie is only 19yrs old and the suitor is much older. Levi doesn't
want a relationship, much less be married. It has been just about a year
that his heart was broken by the woman he thought he was going to marry.
Will Sadie be able to help Levi heal and have a change of heart? Will Levi
be able to move forward and heal his broken heart?

I really enjoyed The Amish Teachers's Wish by Tracey J. Lyons. Tracey
J. Lyons is a new to me author, but I now want to read all her books. The
storyline flowed really well. The friendship and relationship between Sadie
and Levi was interesting to read and watch the growth between the 2. Sadie
is one determined young woman and has a "spunk" about her. Levi didn't
expect to have his heart softened, as he was in Miller's Crossing for work.
I highly recommend this book for those who love a GOOD Love Story and
those who really enjoy Amish Fiction.

REVIEW : The Amish Teacher's Wish by Tracey J. Lyons is part of the Love Inspired Romance Collection. I am absolutely in love with the cover. It really helps bring the characters alive. There is a book before this one, A love for Lizzie. This introduces the characters you will see here. In this story, which is set in Miller's Crossing Chautanqua County, New York we see Sadie Fischer, age 19, who is a Amish School Teacher. She loves being a part of their instruction, however she lacks confidence in herself. I thought she was the kind of teacher my children would enjoy. She uses different ways to help the students reach their full potential.

One of the things that I love about the Amish is the way they always pull together when something disastrous happens. In this case, a storm moves through and a tree comes through the schoolhouse. The Amish Community rush to get it repaired.

Sadie is young, carefree and not thrilled with the spouse her father has picked out for her. Enter Levi Byler. He arrives in Miller's Crossing at his cousin, Jacob's, request. Jacob owns a business and is very overwhelmed with orders and needs help.

Sadie and Levi are COMPLETE opposites. It was so much fun to see the pairing. One is very introverted, one very extroverted. I love how the author wrote their chemistry.

I received a paperback copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Amish Teachers Wish is a heartwarming story written by Tracey J. Lyons. The author has done a wonderful job telling her story thru her characters which are very likeable. The storyline shows the reads how a change of scenery can heal a broken heart. When Levi Byler is left heartbroken when his fiance leaves for the English world he jumps at the chance to relocate to a different community but is determined not to make the same mistake twice. Sadie Fisher is the school teacher at Miller's Crossing and her parents are determined to marry her off to a local widower. She is determined to remain single and look for her perfect Amish husband. When Sadie meets newcomer Levi for the first she couldn't be more embarrassed. Levi wonders why Sadie isn't married until he gets to know her better and then he tries to distance himself from her. Sadie and Levi are like oil and water. Neither is impressed with each other. There are some very numerous parts to this story as well as some enduring ones.

I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.

Holding out for true love...it's one of the hardest thing a person has to do, and something everyone can relate to, in one form or another. Sadie, the schoolteacher of the Amish community of Miller's Crossing, dreams of finding her true love, despite her father trying to force an arranged marriage with an older widow from their community on her.

When Levi, a newcomer to Miller's Crossing, comes to help repair the schoolhouse that was damaged during a recent storm, Sadie sees the man as a possible answer to prayer. What she doesn't realize is Levi has baggage of his own, and has come to this new community to start over, and is definitely not looking for a relationship, especially after suffering an incredible blow in the love department.

The relationship between Levi and Sadie is a slow build, but one that shows two broken people that are afraid of getting hurt, and is a road that is invokes empathy and was heartwarming to read. I loved how everyone worked together as a community to rebuild not only the schoolhouse but build each other up as well. I believe the theme of helping your neighbor is one that cannot be stressed enough, and this was one of my favorite parts of this novel.

If I had one complaint about the story it would be how often Levi mentioned his past hurt. I get that he is grieving, but it got to the point to where I wanted to yell, "Get over it already!" through the pages. Yet, as I write this I am again reminded of how relatable this is. How many of us have struggled to let go of a past hurt?

The Amish Teacher's Wish has such an organic feel, and has a wonderful flow. It is also the perfect reminder that God does have a plan for our lives, even when we don't see it, and life might not look like what we think it should, but beauty truly can come from ashes. I absolutely adored this novel and I know you too will not be disappointed.

The Amish Teacher's Wish
Miller's Crossing #2
By Tracey J. Lyons

Sadie Fischer is known for her mishaps which makes her a questionable choice as the community teacher. No one can fault her dedication to her students but her position is a precarious one as she was hired as a temporary teacher. Her actions are under scrutiny as Miller's Crossing is a small community where nothing is easily hidden.

When Levi Byler comes to temporarily help out his cousin Jacob Sadie finds her reputation is on the line. Especially after a storm damages her school. The damage finds Levi aiding in repairing the school causing more than a little speculation concerning Sadie and Levi's time together. What's worse Sadie finds her heart being drawn to this newcomer whom she senses is hurting. Levi's heart has been broken and he doubts he'll ever trust it to another anytime soon. But Sadie seems determined to root out his pain-something he is less than willing to disclose to anyone, much less a husband-seeking teacher.

If you are looking for a sweet, feel-good read you must read this book by Tracey J. Lyons. Part of the Miller's Crossing series, The Amish Teacher's Wish can be enjoyed as a standalone title without any difficulties. This book is a fun staycation escape from your every day.

I received a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion - all thoughts expressed are my own.

The Amish Teacher’s Wish, by Tracey J. Lyons is a heart warming Amish story of a young teacher and a newcomer to the area. Sadie is suppose to drop off something for her mother and decides to take a short cut which lands in her a wet muddy mess. She is rescued by a newcomer to the area, Levi Byler.

Levi has come to Miller Crossing to get away after being dumped by his fiance. He is to help his cousin with building sheds. Shortly after arriving, a storm rips through the area and damages the school. He is assigned to work with the teacher, Sadie, to get the school ready for the year. They end up spending time alone working on projects, which does not sit well with members of the community and could hurt Sadie’s job. She loves the kids so much and is so good for them all.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. The love Sadie has for her students is very clear. And the generosity Levi displays to all is wonderful. I enjoyed reading of the quirky situations Sadie found herself in. This is a nice story to read just for enjoyment and to get lost in. It is a good clean story of characters with strong convictions. This is a good story that shows God puts us in places and situations for a reason, we may not know why, but it usually turns out good.

Sadie, facing an arranged marriage to an older man she doesn't love, and Levi, trying to get over his broken heart by moving to help out in his cousin's business, meet under unusual circumstances.

The Amish Teacher's Wish has some humorous and touching moments but is also a time of unknown futures. The storyline is packed with emotion that moves the reader along on a roller-coaster ride of possibilities. The ending wrapped up everything nicely as a sweet love story unfolds.

This was a sweet read! I was able to read it all in one day! I really liked Sadie and Levi. I liked how their community came together due to a storm and that set them up to get to know each other better. I really liked how relatable Sadie was. She was my favorite character in this book. It took me a little bit to warm up to Levi, but when I did I really liked him. This was my first book by this author. I really liked her writing style. I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

If you're looking for a sweet Amish romance, The Amish Teacher's Wish just might be the perfect addition to your TBR.

In this story, we meet Sadie Fischer, an Amish schoolteacher who has no desire to marry the older man that her father has chosen for her. When the schoolhouse is damaged in a fire, it brings carpenter Levi Byler-- a man who is not interested in love after having his heart broken. What follows is a cute romance between these two quite different characters proving that opposites do in fact attract.

While I certainly enjoyed the romance in this story, I must say that more than anything I really loved the story of community with the pages. I felt like this depiction of neighbors helping neighbors was done beautifully and really kept in line with one of the great aspects of the Amish culture.

Romance, community, faith. These elements combined to create a fast paced, clean story that was a delight to read. If you enjoy Amish fiction, this is one to check out.

The Amish Teacher’s Wish by Tracey J. Lyons was such a sweet and quick read! I don’t read many of the Love Inspired books, but of the few that I have read, this one has become one of my favorites! Sadie made such a great main character. I loved her determination and fight to stand up for what she valued and believed in. Reading Levi and Sadie’s relationship unfold was really cute. I particularly enjoyed reading their first encounter.

This book is filled with wit and charm. This is the first book I read that was written by Tracey Lyons, but I definitely plan to read more from her in the future. She is a really talented writer and this book really flowed well. I flew through this one!

I would definitely recommend the Amish Teacher’s Wish to anyone who enjoys Amish fiction or sweet love stories!

Sadie dreams of finding the perfect Amish man but her father has his mind set on a match with an older widower. When Levi moves to their community temporarily to assist his cousin, Sadie wonders if Levi could be the answer to her prayers. But Levi wants nothing to do with her.

Levi had demons in his past that he was battling. He wasn't in Miller's Crossing looking for a relationship. He was there to help his cousin and escape the pain of his past.

The relationship between Sadie and Levi unfolded slowly. Sadie knew she wanted to know more about Levi, but he was determined not to let her into his heart.

I liked that the two worked together for a time and developed a friendship before calling it love. Though I would have liked to see more of Levi's struggle, his growing feelings were evident in his behavior.

The Amish Teacher's Wish is a sweet story of second chances and holding out for love. There was a reminder that God has a plan for our lives and that even things which seemed horrible when we were going through them can be worked out for our good.

This is the first book that I have ready by this author, and overall I enjoyed it.

The Amish Aspect ... I do think that this book seems to demonstrate how relationships would be established in the Amish community with family being the most important. There were several German words used repeatedly in the book, but they were easy to understand. "Vader" and "gut" could be understood in context (father and good.) There were two mentions that I was not sure about. Do the Amish really use paper plates or gas grills? Perhaps certain communities do, but I was not sure about those references.

The school is an important part of the setting. As a former teacher, I could definitely identify with her feelings toward her students. I liked how intentional Sadie was in developing connections with her pupils.

The characters ... This is a book that celebrates family, friendships and community. While the love story was one aspect, really the emphasis of the story was working together and supporting your neighbor. Sadie's friends played an important role. So did her relationship with her parents and her sister. Clearly gathering together matter.

The romance did seem to pace well with what one would expect of the Amish community. How Levi met Sadie was definitely a cute part of the story. I liked how he was drawn to her caring heart. The only drawback - Levi was trying to recover from a broken heart and the circumstances were mentioned too often for me.

My overall rating of this book is 4.6 with the downgrade for the Amish oddities and the frequent mention of the broken heart. (I might have wanted to tell Levi to get over it already. :-) But other than that, I thought the story was well done. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. The review reflects my honest opinions.

I really liked this book. Faith and trust in God. Praying and hoping your dreams will come true. The waiting requires so much patience.

And this is why you can't just read one book by an author and judge her talent by it.

This book is the sequel to "A Love for Lizzie" (in case you're wondering why there are so many characters you seem to be expected to know), but where I gave "A Love for Lizzie" two stars, this one is definitely four. "ALFL" was Lyon's first attempt at publication via Love, Inspired, and... well, she was green and the effort wasn't great.

But while some authors never learn from their mistakes (Minton, Hart, Navarro, to name a few), I'm so very happy to say that Lyons is apparently willing to hone her writing, learn from mistakes, and grow as a writer. SO. VERY. Refreshing!!!

Sadie is an 'Anne Shirley' kind of a character - always getting into trouble, slightly more tomboy than lady, but with a heart of gold and a love of community and learning. She talks... A LOT. She's opinionated, and more than a little fanciful. She's... got pluck. I wish she had actual faith, but let's not ask for the universe.

When Levi moves to town, the first person he sees is an Amish woman totally covered in mud, sucked into a puddle she can't seem to crawl out of for her skirts. He's there with a crusty scab over his heart from a broken engagement (that's weirdly and badly written/explained), so he's NOT looking for another relationship, but he's more than a little amused by this sopping, sloppy, sweet but somewhat chatterbox-y woman.

Sadie's dad wants her to marry Isaiah, an older man (that her sister loves, it's set up from the beginning where this 'betrothal' is going). Sadie wants true love, and is trying to put her father off. And then she meet Levi, who is inexplicably drawn to her as much as she is to him. And you know where THAT'S going, too - but the ride is totally worth it, to get there.

As I said, his previous engagement is... awkwardly written. Supposedly he was deeply in love with Anne, but had NO CLUE that not only she was not in love with him, but she was in love with an Englischer, and making plans to leave the Amish? That's pretty hard to fathom, if they were so close that he was that devastated.

Except then the author BACKPEDALS, and has to say that he wasn't *really* in love, because he's now in love with Sadie, and apparently you're not allowed to have been in love, before? ((Preposterous, but I'm not kidding - I've seen this whole trope more than once in 'Love, Inspired'... chrischuns only *think* they were in love, after the fact. Because no good person a'faith would've been in love with someone else, first. *sigh.*)) I was. I loved an airman. I got worked over by my mother, ended the relationship, and a month later met and fell in love with my husband. It doesn't negate the year I loved the airman, hello. The heart can love and lose and love again.

Wasn't thrilled with Lizzie's "polite scar" making another appearance, but I guess for continuity's sake...? Worse, Lyons writes that now that Lizzie is in love, the scar has faded down to absolutely nothing. Isn't that polite of it?! Wowzers. I mean, she sustained it when she was a child, was twenty-something when it was a raised awful thing that did nothing to her sight/speech/facial expressions at all... but now that she's married, true love healed it... twenty-four years later. (((????))) Yeah, I... didn't really... Moving on!

Jacob (Levi's cousin/housemate/boss/pending partner) breaks his wrist in two places, falling off a broken step on the front porch. Okay, but... then we're told that he lays there calling for his wife. Um... BROKEN WRIST. It doesn't impede the whole getting up thing, hello...? I mean, I slid across an icy deck and took the steps on my back, fracturing multiple ribs (the big ones back by the spine), and I got myself up off the walk, alone. And I was forty-five, at the time! What the farts, Jacob? You're down with an impossible wrist? Seriously??

At least in this book, Levi's extreme height is fleshed out in the scenes where they're together. Like I said, Lyons grows, and I love it! Thank goodness. It made everything SO much more believable.

My only other complaint is the lack of actual faith. I mean, this is 'Love, INSPIRED'... and there was nothing inspiring about their faith. Church services were vague references, there's *NO* scripture, no prayers by the characters... it's the part that matters the very most to me, and it's just NOT there. Something to work on, Tracey?

But overall? The story is cute. The characters are fleshed out beautifully. The romantic journey is punctuated with sweet children's antics, hopes and dreams, beautiful camaraderie, and enjoyable writing. I am definitely keeping this one - it was FAR AND AWAY done better than her first attempt, and I've got to say that I'll be watching to see how Lyons continues to develop her writing!

Sadie Fischer is quite content being Amish community, Miller's Crossing's, school teacher. As long as her parents resist their urge to marry Sadie off to a local widower, Sadie would be happy to stay right where she is in her teaching position. She has her family and her friends as well as the students who look up to her, and for now that suits her fine.

Levi Byler needed a change from his own Amish community. His fiancee jilts him, deciding to leave the Amish to be with an Englisch man, leaving Levi heartbroken and confused. He has come to the conclusion he needs to be alone and not take a wife. Levi travels to Miller's Crossing to help his cousin with his carpentry business and when he happens upon a Sadie Fischer in distress, his conclusions about remaining alone become a daily struggle.

The more the school teacher and the carpenter get to know one another, everything they had planned for their individual lives become a swirl of emotions that neither were equipped to handle easily. Sadie's position in Miller's Crossing could be jeopardized by the attention that Levi pays her, even the most innocent of attention. Levi's refusal to see what is immediately in front of him takes the reader on a journey of extreme satisfaction.

Talented author, Tracey J. Lyons has written a feel-good story, and I adore her for it. In the reality of turmoil and uncertainty, her ease at telling this comforting tale warms the soul. THE AMISH TEACHER'S WISH is timeless and rewarding. Getting to know Sadie, Levi, and the accompanying cast of characters is heartening and leaves a smile on your face. I highly recommend THE AMISH TEACHER'S WISH by Tracey J. Lyons.

I don't read very many Amish stories; however, I enjoyed this one. I sometimes have a hard time with the terms and different lifestyle because they are unfamiliar. I guess if I read more of the Amish stories, I would become more familiar with it but it just isn't a genre that I really enjoy! I like it when an author shares a glossary of what words mean but this author did not so I was pretty much guessing when she used Amish words! I did like Sadie, the main character. She was spunky and sweet. I liked the way she stood up for herself, the students she taught and the desire she had to marry someone she loved (not wanting to marry someone her father picked out for her). I guess that is a big deal in the Amish community. Levi had been dumped by a fiancee and moved to another community to work with his cousin. He was not looking for love as he just wanted to get on with his life and forget about the beating his heart took. Sadie was much too cheerful and talkative for him anyway! Funny how love works! Their love story was gradual and natural. One thing I always like. I liked the other secondary characters too.

Heart Warming

This is the first book I've read by author Tracey J. Lyons, so I didn't know what to expect. Suffice it to say that it won't be the last. I was completely taken in by the story and the wonderful characters. I so enjoyed Sadie Fischer. She is impulsive, (which can get quite humorous at times) but her giving and caring heart and nature far outweigh the impulsiveness. Sadie just wants to keep her temporary teaching job and one day find that special someone to share her life with. Enter Levi Byler. Levi is new to the community and just wants to work, get over some of his past, and definitely does not want to find anyone to share his life with. My heart went out to Levi as I was cheering him on to rise above what he had been through. I also enjoyed how Sadie and Levi's friendship blossomed, but was anxiously holding my breath when people and circumstances tried to stand in their way.

The author unfolded Sadie and Levi's heart warming story so flawlessly that it completely tugged at my heartstrings. However, it also made me smile and laugh on more than one occasion, which added so much more to the story and made it a definite must read.

The Amish Teachers Wish by Tracey J Lyons is a Love Inspired inspirational Romance
You will meet the characters Sadie Fisher and Levi Byler in this enchanting story. Sadie is a charismatic young school teacher who wants the best for her students and will do anything for them, yet her family wants nothing more than to see her married to the man her father see’s is right for her.
Sadie can’t ever see that happening, but she also loves and respects her father, so she is caught between what she knows her father wants and what she feels in her heart.
Levi hopes he can settle into his life in Miller’s Crossing’s to help his cousin Jacob but as usual God has other plans, or is it Sadie, maybe both.
This book is a fun read, Sadie is a character we all wish we could have for a friend, honest, loving, sweet and caring , and Levi is the character we hope our daughter would find for a future husband he is steadfast, dependable, reliable, and full of faith. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to read more books by this author. I would recommend this book

This was the first book I read by author Tracey Lyons. I enjoyed this sweet Amish story and getting to know Sadie and Levi.
Miller’s Crossing, New York is home to Sadie Fischer. She is the local Amish school teacher but her heart yearns to find her perfect Amish man. Her father has arranged for her to marry Isaiah. She knows he is not the match for her.
Levi Byler comes to town to help his cousin Jacob with his shed business.
When a tornado causes damage to the school, While doing repairs, Levi finds himself spending more time with Sadie. He has a secret that he hasn’t shared with her.
I enjoyed seeing how this couples relationship developed. It was interesting to see how quickly news traveled in a small Amish community.
Love is definitely in the air in this tender tale. Don’t miss it.

Loved Sadie and Levi's story. I don't read a lot of Amish, as sometimes they seem to be so much alike. However, this one was very good and kept me reading! Levi has been very hurt, and has temporarily relocated to Miller's Crossing to heal and come to terms with his decision to remain single and never marry. Sadie wants to fall in love before marrying, and she knows she will never love the man her father has chosen for her. When Levi and Sadie meet, they are drawn to each other, and the attraction continues to grow the more they see each other, which happens to be quite a bit after a storm damages the school Sadie teaches at and Levi is the man leading the work crew. Will Levi be able to accept that God brought him to Miller's Crossing for more than healing, and will Sadie be able to convince her father that he's chosen the wrong daughter for his choice??

I really liked this book! I really enjoyed the element of the story where Sadie's father has a husband picked out for her and Sadie is continuing to stall the union because she wants to find love, not an arranged marriage. I also enjoyed seeing Sadie's passion for her students and her desire to be the community's permanent teacher.

Levi was a good character, too. He was working through a heartache and looking forward to working with his cousin in a shed building business in a new community which is where he met Sadie.

As a side note, Sadie is known for her snickerdoodle cookies and there is a recipe for snickerdoodles included in the book which I want to try.

If you like Amish romance, I recommend this book.
