I came back to Mason Creek when my life was turned upside down, both literally and figuratively. Scared and alone, I packed my belongings and left New York where I’ve made a career as a writer for a national publication to stay with my parents in the town so different than the big apple they might as well be on different planets.
Getting to see my friends was a big plus, but meeting someone new never crossed my mind until a ruggedly handsome man in jeans and a worn baseball cap came over to say hello. Not knowing someone in this small town is like not knowing how to breathe. The slightly older man caught my eye, just as much as I caught his. A witty and roguish personality kept me on my toes, even if falling for someone new is the last thing I need.
Neither of us wants a relationship, yet we keep finding each other in this small town. Rumors fly, hearts connect, and there’s more at stake than either of us are willing to share.
This man has secrets everyone wants to know, but when more than he’s willing to share is revealed I hope I’m strong enough to help him. I may have come back to town to save myself, but saving him might be the real reason I’m here.

Perfect Song was exactly as I thought it would be, swoon-worthy and addictive. The journey that Justine and Tucker had to travel was full of bumps and curves, but in the end, they found one another. That alone was a beautiful victory. Passion, incredible devotion, and a love so strong, Perfect Song has it all!
I know it says Book #2 up there, but this is a standalone book in a connected series by different authors, so you don't need to have read any others to enjoy Perfect Song.
Nobody wants to think that what they need in their life is to head home to the small town the couldn't wait to escape - but sometimes heading home is the best thing for you, body and soul
And this is Justine's life. I know the small town vibe can feel a little smothering (believe me, I did the tree change from the city to a small country town, and everyone knows alllll your business - usually before you do!).
But it is also like a warm hug from all your loved ones, all at the same time.
Tucker and Justine's story is all kinds of love and adorableness. Tucker is all man and all kinds of swoonworthy. He is passion, loyalty and love all wrapped up in one sexy package.
Though I did get frustrated with him at one time, but could also understand his whys.
I loved that Justine didn't buy into all the small town gossip and prejudices.Small towns come with a lot of small minds in my experience.
I adored Tucker's son, and Justine's friends are the kind we all need in our lives.
I enjoyed my visit to Mason Creek, and I will have to check out more of the books in this world.
Perfect Song by Lauren Runow is the second book in the Mason Creek Series. If you haven't heard of the Mason Creek series, it's a series of small town standalone romances taking place in one town. Each story is written by a different author and I have to say, this intrigues the hell out of me. I love discovering new authors and this is the perfect way to find them. In a series you can't help but to fall in love with.
Lauren Runow is a new-to-me author and I was blown away and holy hell, I loved Tucker and Justine's small town age gap romance! I say time and time again, the age gap romance trope is either a hit or a miss for me, there is rarely an in-between situation when I think it's just okay. When I first read the blurb and a few reviews, I'm not ashamed to admit, I was nervous with diving into this romance. I'm thrilled to have taken the chance on Tucker and Justine. These two are my new favorite couple in this series! I loved the instant connection that flowed between the two characters.
Justine has just arrived back to her hometown of Mason Creek, Montana with a bruised ego, a broken heart, and a heavy amount of fear. This woman has been through one of the scariest moments of her life and her mama and daddy want her home where she's safe and sound. Justine has a lot to resolve in her life, the main thing being her trust in people. When she spots the sexy stranger at Pony Up. Her heart tells her to go for it, but her head tells her to slow down.
Tucker is in the prime of his life. He's living his life playing old country music at night and fixing cars during the day. With his son on the cusp of graduating high school and maybe having a career in baseball, Tucker has no time for romance and/or settling down. That is his thoughts... until he spots Justine at Pony Up. He instantly knows this woman has the power to crumble his world all around him. And he wouldn't have it any other way.
Okay, so I loved the fact that Tucker and Justine start off as friends with a high attraction. I loved the slow getting to know you vibes they went through before anything else took place. These two set a foundation for a love and a relationship that could very well last forever. Between all that and then add the fact that this man drop dead sexy and he has the swoon to back all that sexiness up... It's not very hard to imagine, I was a goner. This man had me GONE in only the best of ways.
I also loved how mature Justine was for twenty-nine years old. She was ready for the seriousness that comes along with getting into a relationship with Tucker. She was ready for all the ups and downs. She was ready for a relationship without the sully dramatics. These two are ride or die. They were written in the stars. Gah!! I can't get over how sweet and sexy Tucker and Justine's romance was. For damn near the whole story I had a smile on my face...
Which leaves me to why I dropped a star and rated this one four stars. I loved the relationship aspect, and I loved the fact that Tucker and Justine took the time to get to know one another before diving into the unknown. I'm feeling a tiny bit selfish, there was more I wanted from this novel. I wanted more of Tucker and his son, Matthew. I wanted more moments of their bonding. I wanted to see Tucker in his fatherly element. I also wanted that significant bonding moment between Tucker, Justine, and Matthew. Like I said, I'm a bit selfish with this one because I also wanted more an insight when Tucker found out.....the news he found out..... I wanted a deeper connection to that situation.
Overall, This is the second book in the Mason Creek Series and so far Tucker and Justine are my favorite couple! Lauren Runow's writing style had me turning the pages faster than even I could imagine. I loved the age gap aspect. I also found this relationship to be admirable. To put it simple, I couldn't get enough! I highly recommend this one to those looking for an epic small town romance with all the feels.
I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. This small town romance was such an interesting story. I mean to live in New York and come back to town where everyone knows your name and business, that is pretty crazy. Tucker isn't what everyone makes him out to be he's a good man, great father. You can't help but adore him. Justine is sweetheart but still a country girl at heart. I would love to know if Tucker's son Matthew is getting a book.
Perfect Song is an age gap romance that is captivating, heartfelt and emotional. Justine and Tucker are instantly drawn to each other but both have walls built high around their hearts. As the walls start to crumble and their trust issues are revealed these two will start to find that they are the beat to each other’s heart. As life throws a hurdle to this cowboy, he will shut down and the words to his forever song will falter. Their story is inspirational, passionate and full of heart. A touching, sweet small town romance that will make you laugh, swoon and at times cry to give you one beautiful ending. For the fans of this author you might just get a pleasant surprise with a visit from some other characters that we fell in love with in the past.
On my gosh. I don't often write reviews but I loved th I story. Every woman needs a manfriend (as Tucker) is definitely not a boy! Still wiping away my tears as I haven't cried in a book in a long time. Now I have to read One Song by Lauren Runow as the characters from that novel make an appearance in this book. If you like books that take place in small town, you will love this series.
The author made me cry. Okay, I bawled like a baby. I had to deal with all of the emotions. I was devastated for Tucker. At one point my heart crumbled. I refused to stop reading. I couldn't stop reading. I had to reach the end and find the illusive happily ever after. The ending was GLORIOUS!!!!!!!
I am having a difficult time not sharing spoilers. Justine is such a fantastic strong female character. She has returned to small town, Mason Creek, after an incident in New York City. Justine meeting Tucker had me believing in love at first sight.
Love might come easy but it doesn't guarantee staying power. The drama had me reading page after page. The shock and awe had my mouth dropping. The challenges seem overwhelming but I had to believe they would work it out. Thankfully Lauren Runow did not disappoint.
Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Perfect Song. It really is the perfect small town romance.
Enchanted from the start, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Each was filled with the romantic adventure you'd expect from a small town romance. I adored it.
Perfect Song is book two in the Mason Creek series and can be read as a standalone.
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. It’s an age gap/small town romance that touches on a few sensitive subjects that will have your heart aching.
Justine returns to Mason Creek from NYC after a traumatising incident happened. Mason Creek is that small town where everyone know everyone and everything that is happening.
When Justine gets a flat tire one day while in town, Tucker comes to her aid. Never did she expect that she would finally feel safe again while being around him. While Justine is trying to find herself again while back in Mason Creek, Tucker starts to believe that maybe he can find happiness again.
This is truly a beautiful romance and also a very enlightening one.
I highly recommend this and can’t wait to read the rest of the books in this series!
A beautifully written story that surrounds real life conditions throughout the book. Tucker is a man that likes his privacy when it comes to details of his past and Justine is temporarily back home due to events that have happened to her that she’d rather not share with everyone. When these two come together their connection is undeniable and the chemistry is off the charts. As we go deeper into their story more unknowns are revealed and for me personally that’s when the water works started flowing. There are moments that I was so mad with Tucker for acting the way he was towards Justine but I can also understand why he feels the need to do so. Justine gives her heart to everyone and everything she does, seeing this woman continue to push for what she feels makes me love her even more. A non stop page turning story that will have you hanging on each and every word.
Perfect Song was just a flawless written romance story and confirmed that the Mason Creek series, a set of standalone's by some of our top romance authors is going to be a smash hit. Justine and Tucker's story will take you on an emotional journey of betrayal, sadness but most importantly love and hope. This is an exceptional love story.
Justine never thought she would leave NY the city she had called home for many years, but now after a traumatic incident, she is back in her hometown of Mason Creek trying to put her life back together. Justine's best-laid plans to return to NY when the time is right is about to hit a bump in the form of part-time singer and mechanic Tucker.
Tucker came to Mason Creek after Justine left, at 44 he is a private person just trying to help raise his teenage son, which of cause leads to a lot of speculation in a small town. Tucker wasn't looking for love and he wasn't expecting to find it in someone so much younger than himself. But when a devasting blow catches you off guard will Tucker keep Justine by his side or force her back to NY.
Another great instalment in what's shaping up to be a wonderful series. Never read a book by this author before but loved her style. The story line was fantastic some characters from the first book thrown in great cross reference. I loved everything about this book can't wait for the next. Five star's
This book was absolutely perfect...perfect perfection! Tucker and Justine were just the best lead characters! I loved the characters, I loved returning to Mason Creek, and I absolutely loved the story. This is an age gap story that all romance readers will love. Tucker is in his 40s, vibrant, young at heart, and takes care of his himself. He meets Justine who is in her 20s and has no problem with the age different until dealt a huge blow...then he questions everything and it’s heartbreaking! One of the best things about this book is I found a new author I love! I went right after I finished Perfect Song and bought Lauren Runow’s previous book, Our Song. I am loving the Mason Creek series and I can’t wait for book 3!
“For a man who doesn’t woo women very often, you’re certainly doing a great job at it.”“You like my woo?”“It’s decent woo,” I say coyly. Aww these two are freaking adorable. I'm really loving this small town of Mason Creek. The people are the best. Tucker is older than Justine. It's a mystery for awhile of just how much older. It doesn't stop him from pursuing the relationship. Justine is damaged. That much is obvious from the start. The story hints to the trauma but it's still horrible. I love how the story is built up with Tucker being a gentleman and getting to know Justine. It's full of heart kind of story that will make you fall in love.
Justine and Tucker were perfect for each other from the start. Of course, it took them awhile to figure it out. I knew it right away. Hot characters with the perfect amount of sexiness written into the story. Lauren, I absolutely love your novels. Keep writing because I want to read them all!!
This is an amazing and beautiful love story, first and foremost, and secondly, a powerful tale of two people finding acquiescence within themselves and with one another. This book was captivating, entertaining, and moving. I have to say, Lauren Runow did a fantastic job in making me live in a world I am oblivious to—she dazzles us with her heady description of MS and its devastating hold. Not everything is as it appears. The love between Tucker Simms and Justine Samson will challenge their relationship. Although Tucker Simms is a divorcée and has a teenage son, he is also very handsome and sexy as sin. Tucker moved to the small town of Mason Creek about five year ago, and he also plays a guitar and sings in a band at the local bar—known as a local legend. Justine moved back to Mason Creek from NYC when something devastating happened to her while living there with her ex-boyfriend. When Tucker meets Justine while at the bar with her friends, he is enamored with the feisty, sassy, and beautiful woman. Justine has sworn off relationships because she just got out of one and not being able to trust men. Because of Tucker’s age, he tries to distance himself from Justine, but there is something so hypnotic and magnetic about her that he can’t stay away from her. Tucker is well aware that he should not pursue Justine, but when he is with Justine, he crosses that forbidden line each time he interacts with her. Everything about this couple screamed Hot! The chemistry between the characters was swift, hot, and palpable. Tucker and Justine’s love story is so emotional exhilarating—please have some tissues on hand. Justine has secrets from her past, and Tucker has secrets he does not want to face. Everything known to be true is questioned. The past is once again unearthed and this time, secrets lurk between dreams and reality—past and present. I felt everything Tucker and Justine were going through down in my soul. Find out what happens between Tucker and Justine. Lauren Runow you did it with an addictive, intriguing love story with artfully developed main characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
It's been a while since this author has a solo book and I only had one though... To grab it quickly to devour it in no time. Yep, that's me when it comes to this author. She's responsible for the ugliest cry of my book life. That book marked my heart and soul. What a book. After that, I'm always nervous because I know that she's a genius behind a pen. Lauren Runow is the author that I'm talking about and her writing is sweet and beautiful, intense and emotional. You must read her books and see for yourself. Perfect Song is her latest release and it's included in the Mason Creek series. This new book explores the lives of Justine and Tucker. Justine just left the big apple and moved into her hometown. She's running from a bad situation and needs to regroup. What she wasn't counting on was Tucker... Tucker is a divorced man with a teenage son. His days are passed between working with cats and singing with his band. One look at Justine... These two have their troubled pasts but can they overcome and get a bright future? What a book. What a journey. I loved it so much. Amazing plot, very well written, super engaging, and intense. Each chapter was even more addictive than the latest and I couldn't stop reading it. The story worked perfectly and the characters completed each other. There were bumps on the road but love will conquer all. Love, loyalty, family bonds are very present in this book and of course, you got some hot stuff as well. Amazing book from the beginning till the end and it was perfect to have news from the characters of Our Song. A book you should read because it will melt your heart. Great book Lauren Runow and I can't wait to grab another book from this amazing series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
PERFECT SONG (Mason Creek) is a Small-Town, Age-Gap Romance. I've read all Lauren Runow's Books, so looked forward to reading this one, too! This story didn't disappoint me at all.
Justine Samson left her small hometown of Mason Creek fresh out of high school. For ten years she never came back. The Big Apple, New York City, had become her new home. She had a job she loved at Living Now Magazine and was living her dream life. She had friends and a live-in boyfriend. In one night of terror, she lost it all. Justine returned home to her parent's house, where she grew up, located in Mason Creek. A place that everyone knew your name & business. She wasn't sure she could ever return to New York, and had dark secrets she would rather keep hidden. Her first night out with her former high school friends was at Pony Up. The one and only bar in town. She recognized everyone, but a good looking guy that knew her friends. His name was Tucker Simms. He plays guitar & sings in a local band, plus is very well known in that area. He also has a day job as a mechanic that fixes cars. He is surprised to find a new pretty face when he enters the bar, and thought he knew everyone in this town. There are reasons for everything, and their meeting was about to change both their lives forever.
It isn't Tucker's fault that Justine had trust issues when it comes to men. Nor was it Justine's fault he had trust issues with women. They have an instant attraction, that even his fifteen years older age, does nothing to damping their attraction to each other. Matter-of-fact, Tucker does a good job of proving that older man can do everything better than boys. He proves it quite well every chance he gets. Justine never though she would be living back in Mason Creek or loving every minute. The best part was having Tucker by her side. Just when things were going so smoothly, secrets come out to cause issues. Then a unforeseen problem causes heartache and sorrow. Can all this be fixed with a Perfect Song? I read this book in one day to find out!
A lovely read full of swoon and with a bit of angst!
Justine has recently moved back in with her parents in the small Montana town of Mason Creek, after moving away 10 years ago. She has made a life for herself in New York City, but a recent incident has left her traumatized, prompting her return to Mason Creek. She is not yet sure if/when she'll return to New York, but is glad to work remotely for now and reconnect with old friends.
While having drinks with some friends in the local bar, she meets Tucker. He's a bit older and full of mystery. They run into each other over the next few days and spend more time together. There is definite attraction, but Justine is a bit hesitant at first, having been burned by her previous relationship.
As they grow closer, their attraction deepens, and they open up to each other about their pasts. I liked this development in their relationship; it doesn't feel rushed or forced.
Tucker is confident in who he is. He's a protector and provider at heart, so when things happen that make him feel vulnerable, he struggles to deal with it and accept help. He's got some supportive friends and family in his corner, though, as well as Justine.
Justine learns to move on from the trauma of her past and to carve out a new path for herself. She's not looking for love, but Tucker might be just what she needs. Their love story is full of swoon, sexiness, and growing together.
Make sure to check out the song referenced at the end of the book – it fits really well with the whole vibe of this story!
Perfect Song is the 2nd book in the Mason Creek series and was a well written sweet small town romance with an age gap element included. Tucker and Justine has instant chemistry from the moment they met and I enjoyed the progression of their relationship. As this tale progressed we get so much more than just romance and their story will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride. Both characters were likable and relatable and you will be rooting for them throughout the novel. This was a charming, emotional, swoon worthy romance and I would recommend it to lovers of contemporary romance.
Anna left her hometown to pursue her dreams and for the last decade she has been happy with her life in NY until one event changed everything. She needs to put some distance between herself and what happened, so she returns to her hometown where she is surrounded by people who care about her. With her plans for her future uncertain she is drawn to Tucker in a way she never expected.
There are so many facets to Tucker as he is a sexy single father, a swoony country singer and good with his hands as evidenced by his job as a mechanic. From the moment that he meets Anna he knows that she is special but the secrets from their pasts might be the one thing they can’t overcome.
Both Anna and Tucker still bear the emotional scars of their past which adds some challenges to their present but there is no denying they belong together.
Tucker and Justine’s story is sweet, sexy and heartwarming. Both have had long term relationships before that ended abruptly in betrayal. While Tucker has had five years to come to terms with what happened and to move forward with his life, the horrendous end of Justine’s relationship was very recent. Unable to tolerate being in New York City, Justine has come home to Mason Creek to stay with her parents.
Seeming opposites, neither Justine nor Tucker were expecting their attraction to each other or their easy connection. On the surface, Justine seems to be a sophisticated city girl, as well she should after living in New York for a decade, but at heart she is still a small town girl who appreciates life at a slower pace. She finds she can still do her job as writer for a magazine remotely, and wonders if staying in Mason Creek could become permanent. Even though Tucker is fifteen years older and a divorced father of a teenager, he is young at heart, a gentleman and a country boy at heart. Mechanic by trade and country singer as a income making hobby, Tucker is making a very favourable impression on Justine, who had sworn off men after her schmuck of an ex. Tucker’s sweet wooing of Justine is a balm to her spirit and her heart, and their relationship soon becomes passionate and serious. However, their relationship is not without it’s challenges and speed bumps. A particularly devastating discovery sends one of them in retreat, leaving them both devastated. Read this fascinating and captivating story to discover how they get their happily ever after.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Must Read! I've volunteered to review this book for United Indie book Blog. Perfect Song is the second book in the Mason Creek series. This is also a first read author for me. This is Justine and Tucker's story. Justine left right out of high school to live in the big city. Now she's back in her hometown. She meets her friends at Pony Up where she meets Tucker for the first time. Tucker is a sexy single father, and a swoony country singer. Their story is inspirational, passionate, and full of heart. Can Tucker and Justine merge their two very different worlds to create a new family? Could not put it down! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!! Highly recommend. Now I'm going back to read the first story in this series. Keep up the good job. Can't wait to read more from Lauren Runow.

Awwww…dang it. This book! Author Lauren Runow put my emotions through the ringer! I am reading along and BAM! Tears! Free-flowing, silent tears! Then…4 minutes later…I am smiling like an idiot! Some quick mentions about Perfect Song out for you…while trying not to spoil it…
*Justine: Fantastically resilient, strong, caring, huge heart, intelligent, hard-working, woman…who has returned to her home town of Mason Creek, Montana from her New York life…and the “new” girl in town.
*Tucker: Hot, country boy…er…MAN, in his 40’s, divorced single dad of teenage boy, mechanic, good hearted, one hell of a musician…and stubborn as all get out.
This small town romance was so wonderfully written! I loved everything about it! It was an emotionally riveting, deeply touching, give-you-all-the-feels read, that I did not want to end! I may have unintentionally slowed down as it got closer to the end because I was so dang in love with this one! The underlying issues with Tucker were a surprise bonus that gutted me.
I cannot give this book less than 5 stars and would love to give it a lot more! I adore author Lauren Runow’s writing style and whole-heartedly recommend reading this second book in the Mason Creek series…a collaboration by several romance authors, written about the same fictional small town in Montana.
What an amazing love story! Justine meets Tucker while out with her high school girlfriends in the single bar in Mason Creek. Justine is back in her hometown after 10 years away in NYC and is trying to past an event that changed her life in a moment.
Tucker is an older man who has quite the following as a favorite local musician and singer. They keep running into each other and both let themselves let their guards down as they enjoy spending time together. Circumstances in each of their lives bring opportunities to bring them closer or pull them a part and each of them have to discover what they really want from life.
Tucker is a super sexy and swoon inspiring man, and even though he has some moments that cause you to be frustrated- he does act realistically given the situation. Justine is a strong and levelheaded women who acts like an adult and doesn’t jump to conclusions and misunderstandings- I loved her and her approach to their relationship.
This book can be read as a standalone; however, having read Our Song (Adam and Sarah’s book) made the scenes with Adam, Sarah, Caitlin and Linda that much better. It is one of my favorite books.
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
