This may, in fact, be the most Victorian book I have ever read. This highly informative, if very technical, manual on various forms of fighting with the saber is a must read for any Saber enthusiast. This manual was written at a time when officers and gentlemen were still expected to handle themselves with a sword, even as the days of the blade came to their twilight. What is most interesting about this book is that it not only offers instructions as to the various fencing forms, but also on sword feats, and on the rules of dueling with the saber. The author himself writes in a very conversational way, as if he is speaking to the reader directly, which is one of those charming, 19th-century, writing conventions that I wish would return.
