Bingo Heeler loves getting lost in her own world, talking to tiny bugs and, of course, relaxing in her relaxing chair! Get to know all about Bluey's little sister in this fun shaped board book for kids of all ages.
Bluey has been a phenomenal success since airing on ABC KIDS in October 2018, amassing legions of dedicated fans and hugely popular ranges of books, toys, clothes, games and more. It holds the coveted position of being the most watched program ever on ABC iView, with over 260 million plays for Series One, and is the winner of an International Emmy for Most Outstanding Children’s Programme.
Bluey is a 6 year old Blue Heeler pup who loves to play. Her parents and teacher give her lots of time to practice, which means she’s become very good at inventing games, helping everyone choose their roles and deciding on the rules. Her favourite games are ones that involve lots of other kids and grown-ups (especially her dad) and she mainly likes to pretend she’s a grown up doing grownup things herself.
Bluey is an Australian children's television program by the Emmy award-winning Ludo Studio for ABC KIDS and is co-commissioned by ABC Children's and BBC Studios.
Is it ridiculous to log a tiny little board book that I read at the airport as one of my books for the year? Yes, yes it is. But here I am doing it anyway. Loved this book, just as much as I love Bluey!
All About Bingo is an educational board book dedicated to everyone's favourite little sister, Bingo. Bingo is a four-year-old red heeler puppy and little sister to Bluey.
Throughout All About Bingo we learn that Bingo is an inquisitive little pup who loves to explore, dress up in costumes, sing and play. She's a unique individual who will shower with an umbrella, read on the toilet, and the "keepy Uppy expert". More importantly, we see that Bingo is learning to navigate the world around her - like learning 'to use her big girl bark' - with the help of her family, who are the most important and powerful parts of her world
Following a similar structure to All About Bluey, All About Bingo uses predominately pastel backgrounds and even more simple and age-appropriate text to convey the information about Bingo.
I loved that this book showed Bingo developing and learning as a character, meaning younger kids can learn alongside her. It also highlights the importance of one's family in allowing and teaching them to grow and learn, both as an individual, but as a family unit.
Given the popularity of the Bluey Universe, these characters and the books by extension have a power to better shape and educate families through the introduction, and exploration of family activities and outdoor play and experience. They are both a learning opportunity and fun addition to an already worldwide phenomenon. They speak about the power of individuality (as evident through Bingo's more unique tendencies to shower with an umbrella and sing to her breakfast cereal), acceptance and family bonds.

I have yet to read a Bluey book that I have not been impressed with. They all use art from the show, but the writing is always written very well. Often I have seen books from other shows or Disney movies and the writing pales in comparison to the source material, or is so poorly written that it's a pain to get through. That is never the case with a Bluey book, at least as far as I can tell.
All About Bingo is bright and colorful and a joy to read aloud. It's shaped like Bingo, which I found a lot of fun. I also liked how the story was arranged inside the book. Some board books are really hard to hold because they are very heavy, but that wasn't the case with this book; it's still sturdy and holds up to the abuse of a small child, but not so bulky that it's hard to turn the pages.
[And as an aside, it stands up to being read over and over, unlike some other's children's books that become obnoxious early on in round two.]
This was a great board book for fans of the Bluey series. There are actual screenshots from the series, there are references to things that happen in the show, and the pages are bright, colorful, and creatively decorated. There isn't really much of a plot to this book because it is meant to just describe who Bingo is and tell the reader important things about her. There was a lot more detail in the text than I was expecting, and it actually takes a little bit of time to read the book from start to finish. I also loved how the book is shaped like Bingo, although this did make it hard for my 1 1/2 year old to turn the pages on her own.
We are not yet familiar with Bluey or Bingo, but this is a fun biography of a dog even without that context. I think the text is too small and too many vignettes are packed in per page, but the shape of the book is fun. Very helpful to read that Bingo tries to pee before bed even if she thinks she doesn't have to!
(4☆ Would recommend) Fun cute book about the cute TV show character. I like the illustrations throughout the book and the colorful layouts. My kids really enjoy this book.
