Love Riddles #1

Hvorfor nu?

Rate this book

Yeah, I'm going to have to put this one aside now. I love the idea of an unrequited love finally coming around and seeing what's been right in front of him, but the execution is not working for me. I've read the next book in the series, Heath and Sydney's story, and the details aren't jiving between books. It's become a distraction and I'm cutting my losses.

Oh, man. That was disappointing.

I completely adored this authors Him/Her duet, and believed I would love this, too. The synopsis was beyond intriguing and a best friends older bro? Yeah, I'm there. But something happened in the execution, maybe I felt this was somewhat jumbled? Idk.
The heroine, Kacey, is supposed to be 28 and in love with Jake--her best friends brother. Said bestie, Reilly, is the same age as Kasey and has known since they were both 8 years old about her best friends mad crush on her older bro.

First off, Kasey didn't come across as 28. I kept reminding myself of that fact. For some reason, her behaviour seemed more of a 19 or 20 year old, not sure why. As for why this didn't work...for starters, I can believe two friends of the opposite sex that marry for convenience. There are no true feelings there, but for purposes known to each of them, it can work. Cue Kasey and her friend Heath. In this instance it wasn't believable at all. The reasons weren't plausible in the least. This was alluded to in the synopsis with kasey's 'fiancee', so no spoilers.

Now starts the book with Jake returning and finding young Kasey engaged. She's not so young anymore and not so forbidden anymore. The whole idea is one of my favorites, but it didn't work for me here. The dialogue sometimes felt stilted, the scenes changed almost too fast and the sudden change in feeling on Jake's part was not as believable as it should have been. I just wasn't totally convinced. I wish his attraction was played up more so I witnessed his change more tangibly. A few scenes were completely strange and unrealistic.
Anyhow, this was promising but didn't exactly deliver for me. I kept putting this down and that's never a good sign. However, this authors Him/Her duo? Phenomenal, therefore I'll check out other work by her.

I can always count on Carey Heywood to deliver a romance that will leave a big fat smile on my face. And in her newest release, Why Now? Carey will set hearts fluttering as she delivers a fun, light, sexy, and emotional romance.

#WhyNow

If you read the synopsis, you would think oh no a love triangle. Yes, there is a love triangle but it is not the kind of love triangle that will have you pulling your hair and screaming at your kindle. It is different and both men vying for the heroine’s heart are genuine, compassionate and equally lovable. And that is all I have to say about it. But what I can tell you is that Carey Heywood wrote a love story that was sweet, beautiful, sexy, and romantic. Ms. Heywood weaved raw emotional undertones giving the readers a full spectrum of love and understanding brewing with the heroine and hero. So if you are looking for a beautiful love story of two people finding love at the right moment and time in their life, then I urge you to read this book.

I'm not sure what drew me in more to Why Now?...the cover, that blurb, or this author. This book looked and sounded spicy and angsty and sexy before I ever turned a single page, and after thoroughly enjoying previous books by this author, I knew I'd be in for something yummy. I'll tell you what though, there's so much more to this story than I could have imagined. The dynamic between each of these characters, their history, the emotional web connecting them all far exceeds what's hinted in the blurb. Even the secondary characters add such depth to this story. I devoured this one eagerly.

This is a story about a girl who, for years, has longed for and loved her best friend's older brother with no hope of those feelings being returned. It's an unrequited love story that becomes something else entirely. Why Now? evolves as a love triangle of sorts, but it's a love triangle that is outside the box from anything else I've read in recent memory. There's no lies, no deception, just a war for one woman's affections. And there's no right or wrong choice because all players involved are good people, honest people, that care and respect each other and just want to be happy. Kacey is every girl that's ever loved a guy all the while knowing he'd never feel the same. Heath is a guy dealing with heartbreaking circumstances within his family who's just looking for something solid to hold on to. Jake is simply a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders whose eyes are just now seeing something he's been overlooking for years. Why Now? is the perfect storm of tumultuous emotions, fragile friendships, sexual tension and everlasting love.

One of my favorite things about Carey Heywood's writing is the way she nails the male POV. This story is told through the alternating perspectives of Kacey and Jake, and while I thoroughly enjoyed being inside both of these characters' heads, there's something extra delicious, extra sexy, extra swoon-worthy about the voice Heywood gives to Jake Whitmore. I dare any reader not to fall for this guy. This story is peppered with swoon-worthy one liners that had me falling harder and harder for him with each turn off the page.

Why Now? is a girl's dream come true. It's the story of what happens when the guy you've loved your whole life from afar decides he suddenly wants you too, even if the timing couldn't be worse, even if it doesn't make sense. It's a little messy, a little steamy, a little emotional. Why Now? is just what I needed, honestly. It's an adorably sexy, heartwarming, heartbreaking romance that I easily found myself lost in. Sure, there's some elements of this story that are a little unrealistic, but I think that's why I enjoyed it so much. I'm typically a reader that prefers realism all the time, and it was nice to just allow myself to get lost in the romanticism of this story, letting the over-the-top parts of the plot take me away rather than pulling me out the way they usually do. This is simply a beautiful contemporary romance, a love story that transcends time, overcomes devastation, and makes you hopeful for the impossible.

MY RATING
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Yes I admit it books like these are my weakness!! I love from non friends/to kind of friends/to lovers kind of books, they hit you right in the feels..

He was my everything. I loved him. For over twenty years.
He never loved me back
I moved on
NOW
He back and wants to make me his

This is the first time I've read ANYTHING by this author and right from that first page I have been giggling like a teenager..

Reading over the SYNOPSIS you would be forgiven if the first thing that went through your mind was Oh hell to the no it's a love triangle, it is but not the love triangle that you would be thinking..

WHY NOW?
This is told in Dual POV'S (Jake & Kasey, this is their story)
This starts off with young Kasey trying to save a dog that was getting abused by three bully boys, when the boy across the street raced in to her rescue that was the day when she fell in love with the boy across the road.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Kasey taking on three boys twice her size. They were hurting a stray dog, burning it with a lighter. In the end, I broke the nose of one, gave another a black eye, and knocked the third out cold.

So I called her killer

Kacey has loved Jake from as far back as she can remember to the point where it was nearly stalking, he only ever saw her as a kid sister being that she's his sisters best friend.

Kacey has been my little sister's friend forever
In the beginning, her little crush on me was funny
At times she was my little shadow
It only became an issue when she became more aggressive with the crush she had on me.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This had me giggling SO many times, I really really enjoyed this book, ok a lot have stated that there is cheating in this, here's my thoughts, there is a triangle of sorts, 2 mutual friends, a marriage of convenience, they do not love each other, he's losing his mother and her dying wish is to see him married and happy before she passes, Kacey agreed to marry him when she was drunk off her ass but then when sober thought it would help her get over Jake.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I'm not going to get married just because I'm the town joke.

BUT then Jake wanders back into town, realizes he does in fact have feelings for her and stakes his claim..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Image and video hosting by TinyPic She's engaged to one of my best friends.

One kiss by a beautiful blond has all that has been on Jake's mind, the one that got away, his mystery woman, that one kiss he's never been able to get out of his mind..

I've thought of that girl and our kiss for the last four years. Over and over I kicked myself for getting as drunk as I did and not finding out her name or how to get a hold of her before I passed out.

Wait till you find out who that mystery woman was

A domino effect

All is fair in love and war, let the best man win..

Unrequited love is one of my favorite pastimes. But...I can’t finish this book. The heroine reeks of DESPERATION. That isn’t cute at all. She’s been in love with the hero for twenty years and in those years, she constantly threw herself at him, acted like a stalker, and still he rejected her. Granted, she was very young. But even when she reached of age, she still loved him and still took the constant rejection of loving a man who would never love her. Had Kacey ever heard of the word dignity or self-respect? Sheesh...

Don’t get me started about that blurb where it says she moved on. That’s seriously laughable.

From the moment you open the book, to the last word which leaves you desperate for more, Ms Heywood pulls you into her stories. This one was no different. Her words bring to light the emotional journey of loss, love, and finding the family of your heart.

From the moment Jake returned home to find his oldest friend engaged, to his baby sister's best friend and roommate, things would never be the same. Will Jake be able to see what was standing right in front of him for the past twenty years, or is it too late? Will Kacey let go of her childhood crush and finally find happiness with one of her dearest friends, or will old emotions destroy her chance at happily ever after with Heath? Jake won't give up without a fight, but can he hurt his best friend by stealing his girl, and will she even want him after all this time?

This book takes you on a journey as friendships are tested, lives are irrevocably changed, and love finds its way. Keep your tissues handy, and prepare to laugh, cry and fall in love with Why Now?

So I was scrolling through my newsfeed on Facebook, when this book popped out at me!

Then my next step was sending a message begging for the book, or better yet I thought that we were friends?

He was my everything.
I loved him.
For over twenty years.
And everyone knew, including him.

So let's start with Kacey. Kacey who has been in love with her best friends brother since the beginning of time, or at least for the last twenty years. Ever since he saved her from three mean bullies trying to hurt a dog. Swoon right?

And of course during the whole time that she has loved him he never ever looked at her in any other way except as his sister's friend. EVER. NOT ONCE.

So I moved on.
Until now.
Now he's back, and wants to make me his.

Jake Jake Jake Jake Jake, what are we going to do with you? I know of lots of things I can do with him, but nothing is PG!!

I have to say I was so happy that he's wasn't a douche who liked to go around breaking girls hearts. Nope not him. He was to busy putting his sister through college. Paying off his grandparents debt all the while working away from his family so he could achieve this!!

WHAT A CATCH RIGHT?

When a trip home has him face to face with his best friend and his new fiancée, he's brought front and center looking into the eyes of the woman that has loved HIM forever.

Yup it seems Kacey is done waiting for Jake to see her and has moved one.

Or is it to late? She's been in love with him for longer than she cares to think about so when he finally turns around and sees her in this light, she is questioning everything that he says. Asking him the question that everyone else has been asking, Why Now?

I loved that Kacey didn't just jump when Jake said I want you. I love that she made him work for it. I love that there was never a question on who she would pick, just how she would finally do it.

Review by Lisa Kane
Kacey Albright is finally ready to let her feeling for Jake Whitmore. He's her best friend Reilly's older brother and Kacey has been infatuated since she was eight years old. Twenty years later and that's still the story. But her good friend Heath, in a drunken moment, asked her to marry him and she, equally drunk, said yes. His mom is dying and wants to see him settle down and they both love each other. Maybe they aren't in love but that will come right?

While Kacey convinces herself that she should marry Heath, Jake returns to town. He works on a Danish oil rig in San Diego. Its' lonely but he needs the money to pay off debts his grandparents amassed while raising he and his sister. He's not completely unaware of Kacey's infatuation, but he's always felt she was too young for him. Then when she got older, he figured his job would take him away again, and that wouldn't be fair to her. She is sweet and beautiful and off limits to him. But when he returns to sell his grandparents' house, he finds out about Kacey and Heath's engagement. A few years ago, a drunk Jake got the most incredible kiss of his life from a hot blond he hasn't been able to forget. He never found out who she was, but except for Kacey, this is the only other woman that he could see in a relationship.

Is Jake finally going to man up and let Kacey know that he feels the same way she does and he's not about to stand back and let Heath marry her? Or will his insecurities hold him back and his chance with Kacey will slip away?

Why Now is a quick read. Jake is in his early thirties and Kacey is in her late twenties. For someone of that age, she is sexually more than a little naive. I was confused as to why Kacey, with no real encouragement from Jake would let herself be humiliated by the whole town who have witnessed more than a few incidents where Kacey chased after Jake. I'm surprised that she never got involved with anyone else in all that time.

The dynamics between Kacey, Jake and Heath sometimes resembles people a lot younger. All three of them are immature. Jake thinking he can swoop in and break up Heath and Kacey because he suddenly realized he wants her seemed pushy and assuming. But the characters are all good people and honestly respect each other. They are caught up in a situation that can not possibly end without one of them getting hurt. But which will it be, Heath or Jake?

So, I have almost nothing of a review because I was too busy being immersed in the story which by itself tells you how much I loved it.
This book follows Kacey, a woman who has been in love with her best friend's brother, Jake, for almost all of her life. The story starts with her drunkenly accepting a marriage proposal from Heath, Jake's friend. The foundation of their engagement was just dumb to me. But it's okay, because it's supposed to be, I think. Anyway, then Jake comes back to town and suddenly shows interest in Kacey. Things pick up from there and boy, was it a beautiful and wild ride.
My heart ached for Heath from the start. I love his character so much and I wish I could console him due to the things he's going through. I mean, I was all for Jake and Kacey but Heath is so amazingly sweet, he deserves to be loved and respected.
My heart also ached for Jake, but for completely different reasons. It was sad witnessing him going through things in life nobody should go through. I loved how he showed his affection to Kacey, even if I didn't agree on him going against Heath to do so.
The reason why I give this 4.5 instead of 5 was because when something pretty big happened, it was too unexpected for me to get emotional over. I was just 'oh, okay' and moved on. I don't know why but the fact that there was no build up to it or something prevented me from caring too much. Which is pretty sad since I would have wanted to be emotional over it, of course. The event itself wasn't emotional for me, but the aftermath definitely was.
The end sneaked up on me out of nowhere. I could have sworn I had just finished chapter one when suddenly the epilogue was right in front of me. That ending hit me pretty hard and left me a blubbering mess. It packed so many emotions in those few pages and I loved every single one. It was equal amounts of sweet and heart-breaking. I loved, loved, loved how everything wrapped up.
AND WE GET HEATH'S STORY NEXT?!?!? YES, PLEASE!!

How do you write a review for a book that was so moving that you have no words?

I can try, but my review will not do Carey's writing justice. Why Now has it all. You will be laughing one minute, embarrassed for the heroine the next, and crying by the end of the book! I won't tell you what kind of crying it is(happy or sad), no spoilers from me! I will say have your tissues handy! Going in, I had my mind set that the book was going to go a certain way. I thought I already knew what was going to happen. I was so wrong! Carey kept surprising me, and changing what I thought I knew up until the very end.
The dynamic of all of the characters is amazing. You can tell that she really knew each and every character well, not just in a superficial way to fill space and time in the book.
I loved all of the secondary characters as much as the h and H. They were really memorable and likeable. They helped bring the story to life perfectly. I'm really hoping for another book. I want everyone to get their HEA, or at least find out what happened after the epilogue(hint hint Carey). This is definitely a 5***** read. I hope you all love this book as much as I did!

Some of my favorite lines from the book:

"Memories, dreams, and all those feelings of longing I had for a girl who slipped through my fingers assail me."

"I kissed you because I know I'll never deserve all you have to offer, and I wanted to experience it at least once."

"That kiss made one thing for sure; I'll never be able to look at her again without remembering what she tastes like."

"We're building something here Kace, something I want to last the rest of our lives... Last night you reminded me that we are in this together. You're it for me. That work for you?"

I'm pretty bummed I couldn't get behind Why Now? Unfortunately I wasn't able to connect with the characters or their story. The synopsis made it seem so different then what I took away. There is a twist to the fiancé part of the story, one I don't want to give away, but I just shook my head at it. I wasn't able to wrap my head around the why's of it all. Though the pace of the read was steady, the story itself felt rushed and underdeveloped. The childhood friends to lovers almost felt instant. I get they had known each other twenty years but there was zero indication he had any feelings for her past friendship. I've enjoyed the other books I've read by Carey, she has a talent for fueling her stories with emotions that draw you in from beginning to end. Why Now? didn't have that same draw for me. It won't deter me from reading her other books though. Favorite authors like Carey make you a life longer fan and reader.

Why Now? gets straight to the point. it's a sweet love story between kacey and jake. I was one of the lucky few who received an arc of 'Why Now?' and when it comes out I plan on buying it even tho I already have it.

why now? that's what I, myself was asking Jake too. I know he is a fictional character but the way carey wrote you'd believe that jake and Kacey are a real live couple. and I honestly am hoping that carey brings us Heath and Sydney's story.

In the first 5 chapters you're going to need tissues. well, not just the first 5 chapters. you've been warned!

if you're looking for a quick read but yet a touching story then buy this one. carey is as always spot on for that type of story!

Have you ever had one of those loves that you have given your whole heart to but your affection is not returned? How do you move on? What do you do? When a new opportunity falls in your lap, do you take it or let it pass you by?

Kacey has loved Jake for years. She loves him with her whole heart but her love is not returned. Jake is the man of her dreams and the hole in her heart.

Now Kacey is at a crossroads. Does she chose the safe road or the road less traveled? Does she listen to her head or to her heart? You know there is only one way to find out....

I loved this book from beginning to end. Thank you Mrs. Heywood for another fantastic read.

Ugh. This is so YA! 😐
Late 20s and mid 30s but act, talk, and think like teens. Many YA books MCs are more mature than the characters here.

I'm used to h with body betraying syndrome when it comes to H.. But Kayce have BBS to both Jake and Heath. Granted she and Heath made out only, but her inner thoughts are BBS. And she'd kiss 2 guys but lost her sh!t to gossips of Jake and another girl. Good thing Jake is serious with h, and spared the book with more of h mini tantrums. Naïve is different from immature. Well, she did show maturity after the big twist near the end of the book. Thank gawd this is Dual (Kayce/Jake) POV and not just h POV. 🤪

〰️〰️

I only want to read the 2nd book Why Lie?. but forced myself to read this before I start the 2nd book coz the MCs' conflict in there happened on this book.
Sooo.. the engagement of convenience , and some light and heavy kisses. 😏

I don't know whether to classify this an second chance romance or unrequited love kind of story. It's mostly a I'm in love with my bestfriend's brother but it's a secret. I initially felt unsure cause this was triangle from that blurb but I really enjoy the way Carey tells her stories. Everyday relatable kind of characters and in a realistic everyday love story.

I realized early on the love triangle is unconventional and not the typical dynamics of one. Both guys Heath and Jake involved are good guys, somewhat misguided but definitely amiable. While I didn't think the guy vs guy who will win the girl thing isn't my favorite scenario in when it comes to triangles. It had times I wanted to strangle one of the guys. Such is the nature of this kind. Though in typical triangle fashion I had to root for someone and yes it's obvious who you you'd choose well for me anyway. I'm just glad it sort of plays out faster than expected.

What I like is probably the complexity of the situation and how they try to deal with it. After all there's many sides to this. Each character is different and you get to enjoy their history and dynamic with one another. Them all being friends just makes it even more complicated. Oh yeah the angst and tension was there and it really plays with your emotions in a way.

I feel though the first half of the book had more momentum storywise and slowed down at the later half. Nothing bad about that at all, the pace started winding down in way lots of stuff did happen. I still enjoyed the male POV for Jake well written and very spot on. It's a very likeable and fans of Carey Heywood's style of writing will enjoy a lot.

Carey Heywood has done it again—made me fall in love again with her amazing stories!!

Kacey's loved Jake as long as she can remember, but he always treated her like a little sister because she really was way too young for him. And she’s his best friend’s sister. Well, now that Kacey has an opportunity at love—even though it's not with the one that she wants—she's made her decision to give it a go. And, to be honest, I didn't want her to because in my book everyone deserves a chance to get their HEA.

Though Kacey knows she might never want Heath the way she's loved Jake, she decides to "give it a chance" because who knows, she might end up loving him in the long run…

Now, dear 'ol Jake, I wanted to smack some sense into him because all those years he'd ignored Kacey, and now he wanted an opportunity with her? Now that she was finally moving on?!?!! Well, he had another think coming, because Heath was not going to go down without a fight and, let me just say, I. Freaking. Loved. Every. Minute!!

As Heath and Jake bid for Kacey's attention, she's having a hard time because she never thought one man, let alone TWO, would be fighting for her attention. There was plenty of laughter and testosterone, and the alphaness (yup, that a word) had me clenching my thighs, fanning myself and on my toes till the very end! Bravo, Ms. Heywood, for another amazing story. ~ Kara, 5 stars

For anyone looking for a sweet, mostly clean, emotional read, Why Now? is it. Some might call it a second-chance romance, but what is it called when you never had a chance in the first place? It’s not the raunchy, over the top, tough-talking anti-hero swooping in to save the heroine kind of romance. This is a romance for everyday people and a love-story that anyone will enjoy.

Romances are fantasy, something I’ve said before. And I love losing myself in a fantasy - the hot, rough and tumble MC anti-hero; the hot, rough and tumble alpha-male Spec Ops hero - guys most of us will never encounter and never fall in love with (not counting all the book boyfriends we collect). Carey Heywood writes about ‘normal’ people - the guy next door, the girl who blossomed after high school, people who have everyday jobs, everyday lives, and everyday problems. She writes about most of us. And in doing so she gives us normal folk hope. The hope that everyday people can find happily-ever-after in their everyday lives.

Okay, this book really had me with the blurb and I just had to read it and boy I have to say that I am sooooooo glad that I did because I absolutely loved it!!

Kacey, Jake and Heath -- what a combination right!! Kacey has been in head over heels in love with Jake since she was a little kid but she was just that, a kid so Jake only saw her as a little sister. Kacey hung out all the time with Jake's sister and would swoon every time she would see him. She would embarrass herself in front of this guy at all times but it still wouldn't stop her from loving him. He found everything she did cute but never thought in a million years that she would be THAT much in love with him.

Jake has always been the good big brother. He looked out for his little sister after his grandparents did and he has been working his butt off to help get her through college and paying off his grandparent's debt. He lives and breathes the oil rig and has no time for himself. He only visits here and there and now it's come that Kacey must move on and forget about Jake.

Except, Jake kissed a girl once at a party and he was drunk out of his rear end and all he remembers is that she was blonde. He's been going crazy trying to find out who this blonde girl is. Well he finally comes to find out that that blonde happened to have been Kacey (not her natural color) so she went back to being her redhaired self again.

Now that Jake knows that Kacey is his mystery girl, he wants a chance with her but Kacey has moved on and is now engaged (oh no!!)

So what will Kacey do??? Will she marry their long time friend Heath -- he is super hot too but for some reason she just can't shake Jake out of her system no matter how hard she tries.

Can she really move on and marry Heath or will she welcome Jake with open arms?

This book had my gaze attached to my device throughout the whole time. I loved the concept of the story and I really love how Kacey became a strong-willed girl who wasn't going to jump at any chance she got with Jake, she really had him work it!!!!

This book will make you swoon and make you want to bite your nails because you won't know who to choose since they're both freaking hot and yummy and you will want to have them both --- ahhhhh what to do, what to do!!

Total 4.5 star review for this awesome book, now I must go back and read her other books as this is the first book I read from this author.

A second chance/best-friends brother romance with a twist has never brought out so many emotions than when I picked up Why Now? by Carey Heywood. Sexy, romantic, heartfelt and down-right Alpha crazy; Jake and Kacey’s story was the perfect blend of profound heart with the sugar and spice of romance that is oh so perfect. I love a good second chance/ best-friends brother romance and this story blew me away without a doubt because it's got all the elements you want from a story; a little emotion and steam combined with bad timing and a few boundaries crossed.

Sometimes it’s hard to really explain the moments you love, the moments you cherish when it comes to a book and whilst reading Why Now? every moment was held to my heart, every turn of the page I felt the characters pure emotions reel of the pages and come to life. I connected with the every single word Ms Heywood wrote in both perspectives of Jake and Kacey and it was a testament of the greatness that can be written in romance when you explore more than the stereotypical bounds of sub-genres.

Heywood created a world of tumbling emotions, passionate chemistry and beautiful written words to convey an unbelievably beautiful story in Jake and Kacey. There was obstacle, clarity, confusion and raw beauty which together bound beautifully. I also loved the quirky fun side of the interactions as well, as I pictured the characters come to life and the flair of passion that dimensionally was created between Jake and Kacey’s interactions and their friends bounced like a Grand Slam tennis match of banter.

To me a true story lies in what you take away from the characters and the story and without a shadow of doubt Why Now? by Carey Heywood is a story I will hold forever. Jake and Kacey’s journey was full of raw emotion and pure heart combined with stunning writing. I could write a million words to express my admiration and to share the heart and soul of this book but words tend to cease and not do justice to the written scripture of Why Now?. As I finished reading Why Now? the beauty in the characters, the story and wanting to know more about the secondary characters was full in my heart and I can’t wait to read more hopefully about the secondary characters. A beautiful and stunning story about a guy you've loved from afar opens his eyes to the possibility of your connection.

Kasey has been in love with her best friend’s older brother since she was 8 years old. That’s a LONG time. Jake, on the other hand, saw Kasey as an annoying gnat since there is a 6 year age difference. When Jake comes home to visit at age 34…Kasey is engaged to his best friend. Now he’s telling himself that perhaps all of the obstacles he saw between them aren’t as big as he thought they should be. But can he take her away from his best friend?

“Something is obviously wrong with me because even knowing she was kissed roughly by someone other than me, less than two minutes ago, I want her.

Is it because I’ve always considered her mine even though I knew I couldn’t have her? Now that someone is trying to take her from me, I’m finding all of my reasons she shouldn’t be mine falling flat.”

This was a cute, emotional and romantic story, and I devoured it very quickly. I was torn between rooting for Jake to realize that he needs to go after Kasey before it’s too late and worrying about breaking his/her best friend Heath’s heart. At times I wondered whether maybe Heath would be a good match for her. I honestly didn’t who she would end up with and just wanted true love to win. I even shed a few tears before the end.

I definitely would recommend reading this book if you like a little angst and believe in second chances. I was riveted to the entire story and couldn’t put it down. I would love to read more stories about the characters in this book.

*****This story is amazing!!!***** Definetely one to one-click!!!!!

I fell in love with Kasey, Reilly, Heath, and Jake from the first chapter. Carey's stories are always easy to get pulled into. She writes characters that are easy to relate to. Once you begin the story you can't put it down and you feel like you are right there with them. You experience every emotion that they go through whether it's the feeling of a first love looking at you, the heartache of moving on, or the feeling of being jealous that someone has what you can't have.

Kacey and Jake's story is beautiful. What girl doesn't hope that their high school crush will finally see them and fall in love with them? After spending her teenage years hopelessly in love with her best friends older brother, Kacey finally decides that he's never going to be into her and desperately tries to move on. But no one can live up to the one and only Jake Whitmore.

I desperately hope that Carey decides to continue their story or at least write Reilly or Heath's story!!

This was such a sweet read, it had a little of everything, Love, Sex, sadness and a little angst.
For over twenty years Kacey has loved her best friends brother Jake but he has never noticed her, well until now. All is not as simple though as after a drunken night Kacey has agreed to marry Jakes best friend Heath. This however was before Jake came home from working offshore on the oil rigs. Secrets are discovered and confessions are made and Jake realises it's now or never. Can he prove to Kasey he noticed her a long time ago but decided for good reasons he couldn't persue her? Well you will just need to one click to find out.
It'e been a while since I have read anything from this author and I am glad I chose to read this one. The storyline does have a love triangle but not in the normal way we read some explosive angsty triangles, this one won't leave you chucking your kindle due to the reasons involved. The writing flows well and the story pulls you in. A great story that will leave you wanting more of this series and fast. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Whenever I hear that Carey Heywood has a new book coming out, I am chomping at the bit to read it. And Why Now? definitely did not disappoint. I loved every word of it. The story is simple, Kasey is in love with Jake, her best friend's older brother. But she just recently got engaged to Jake's best friend. Then Jake comes home to this shock even though Jake has always seen her as a second little sister. Until she isn't. Wait! Did I say the story line was simple? Sorry, I lied. It's so much fun!! As usual, Carey writes with depth and precision that sucks you right into the story and the characters. You feel like they are your friends and you are hanging at the Diner with them going through everything together. There are some funny and sad misunderstandings along the way to getting everyone with whom they belong with. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll shake your head. I highly recommend this book.

Wonderful story that made me laugh and cry!

Carey Heywood honestly writes the perfect romance. Her characters are often working through different life problems, and I think that is one of the main reasons that this author remains one of my most favourites. Her stories and this one in particular are completely relatable to real life. You could jump straight into one of her books and fit right in. The intensity of the emotion throughout always keeps me engaged. I always fall in love with all the characters, not just the main ones. I think that is a true testament to the authors amazing ability with character development. Wonderful book that I will read over and over again.
