TC Matson returns to Cameron Falls with a small town, second chance standalone about two high school sweethearts that ruined their relationship years ago.

Blake
In high school, Dakota Jayne was my everything.
My life. My soul. The air I breathed. She was my light.
One day we were planning the rest of our life.
The next I was picking up the shattered pieces of my broken heart.
She abandoned me without looking back.
Had she glanced in the rearview, she would’ve seen me chasing after her through the dust cloud she stirred up when she hightailed it out of town.
Now, eleven years later, she’s back and creating havoc between my heart and mind.
I hate her. She’s still beautiful.
She left me. I still love her.
I wish she’d go back to wherever the hell she came from so I can get on with my life.

Dakota
Blake Helms was my life.
We had everything planned out.
That’s until he devastated me and broke my heart.
So, I packed up all the pieces and left for college, leaving everything I had ever known behind me.
I finished college, settled into my career, and tried to forget him.
Then my grandmother passed away, bringing me back to this god-forsaken town.
I despise this place and all of the memories.
I hate him. He’s still gorgeous.
He broke me. I don’t want to still love him.
Leaving the first time was hard but leaving the second time might just kill me.

Note: This love story of high school sweethearts turned enemies to lovers can be read as a standalone and contains a HEA.

TC Matson Cameron Falls bk 02 Back to Us

Clearing the Past

History has spent more than a decade plaguing Dakota (Kota) Jayne and Blake Helms. I can understand how things were blown out of proportion when they were eighteen. I don't understand how someone so close to her family stayed away like she did, but I get how pain can lead to misguided decisions. I think this may be my biggest problem with their second chance story.

Seeing them navigate the pain and forge a path forward is poignant yet cathartic and beyond necessary. It's also a very bumpy road with steamy reunions. 😍💥 Spending a little more time with them as they neared their HEA would've been nice.

I want to hug her, pull her into my chest, and comfort her. I want to be there to help shoulder some of the grief. Doesn’t matter the years, the distance, or the pain… I still love her.
-- Blake Helms

Unsurprisingly, Hadley continues to steal each and every scene she's in. Her energy and innocence are refreshing and highly entertaining. 😂

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators, Kallestra Spencer and Duncan Prescott, are so good. It makes listening easy peasy. 😉 🎧💚🎧

4.5 star review Back To Us (Cameron Falls: A Small Town Romance #2) by T.C. Matson

T.C. Matson is a relatively new author to me and I am surprised I have not read more of her come across this author before. AS with the first book, I found this well written and entertaining. This is a second chance, lovers turned to enemies, turned to lovers story for Dakota Jayne and Blake Helms.
It was great to be back in Cameron Falls. Eleven years ago, Dakota left town, broken hearted and shattered and in doing so also left a confused, broken hearted Blake who is still torn between his love and hate for her.
Through miss communication, Dakota and Blake have lost eleven years. The hate they feel for one another is palpable but what happens when they finally confront the past? Will they come to terms with it and in doing so get the happily after together that they always expected?
This is an emotional story with intense chemistry that sizzles. The writing was descriptive and I could easily imagine Cameron Falls and am looking forward to reading more books based in this small town.

Dakota and Blake are two beautiful individuals on the inside and out. Back To Us is a second chance romance and book two in the Cameron Fall Series.

Dakota and Blake are both from the small town of Cameron Fall and were inseparable high school sweethearts. They were deeply in love and basically had their entire lives planned out together, that is until a devastating misunderstanding crushed any hope of these plans happening.

Something transpires, and Dakota has no other choice but to return and face all the broken hearts she left behind 11 years ago.

Dakota and Blake have wonderful souls and deserve a HEA. The story felt so real and entirely relatable.

Dakota is a sweet, loving, hard-working, ambitious woman who doesn't want her life to be centred on the man she loves. Blake is a caring, focused, overbearing, stubborn hero who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to fight for it even if it means he's going to be completely and utterly ruined, wrecked and shattered.

I absolutely love this book and adore Dakota and Blake.

Dakota Jayne laid claim to his heart back in high school, she was literally his everything. She was the one person he wanted to spend the rest of his life loving, but he never got that chance. Eleven years ago she walked away and took his heart with her, and he has never really been able to get over that. He tried, but always failed. She had a hold on him that he just couldn't shake... no matter how hard he tried to break it.

The hate he has for her is bone deep and all the pain she caused him is just as strong today as it was the day she left eleven years ago. And now she is back in town and Blake knows it's just a matter of time before she makes an appearance in his life again. He's dreading it something fierce because he knows his heart can't be trusted around her, and there is no way he is going back for more! Or is he?

Back to Us is an emotional second chance romance that will hit you straight in the feels... it's beautifully penned words will wreck you in the best possible way! There is honestly no way to read this one and not walk away feeling something... it packs quite the emotional punch. These characters are forced to face their painful past and sort out all their feelings for one another when Dakota returns to town. It's not an instant fall, as there is a lot of hate still simmering between them, but that hate is no match for the love their hearts still feel. I have to say this first time read delighted on all fronts, it's words were captivating and brimming with angst and feels, and it's perfectly drawn characters completely stole my heart! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's a can't miss read that will leave you thoroughly satisfied!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

T.C Matson is a fairly new author to me but I’m loving my visits to Cameron Falls and after only two books in the series this small town feels like home and as I get to know the residents I feel like making new friends and for me that means I’m reading a great story. This is Dakota and Blake’s second chance at love.
Dakota walked away from the love of her life and her home town 11 years ago believing Blake had cheated on her. She hasn’t been back since but now she finds herself back in town after losing her grandmother and it seems everywhere she turns she runs into the man who still has a pieces of her heart. Blake was left broken all those years ago but he underneath the hard face he puts on he still has feelings for his soulmate so will this time around work any out better for this couple or will the hatred they feel from the past tear them apart once again....
This book has all the feels, childhood sweethearts all grown up yet still unable to get over their history, sizzling chemistry and families who insist on interfering all make this an emotional read. I read this book in one sitting because I was captivated by Kota and Blake’s story. This is a book I highly recommend to all romance lovers and I’m excited for my next visit to Cameron Falls.

Some author’s words will grab you right away, and before too long, you have finished the book. This book is an excellent example of what happened while reading Blake and Dakota’s story.

Dakota has not been back to Cameron Falls for eleven years. That is how long it has been since she left to go to college following her misunderstanding with Blake. A situation she did not want to stick around to find out about the details. The resulting anger on both sides leads to eleven years of misery for both.

Dakota’s Grandmother has passed, and it is time for her to return home. There is a fine line between love and hate. Will the two recognize this? Can they get past the hurt and communicate?

Mama has all the wisdom; let's hope these two pay attention. I am looking forward to the next book, as we do not know much about Cash, the last Helms brother.

Thank you to Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Blake and Dakota high school sweethearts that have a huge falling out over college and a huge misunderstanding after 11 years she comes back home. With that comes a whole lot heartbreaking moments with Blake. Will they be able to see what happens or will they be to stubborn to see whatnis right in front of them? Their story took me from page to page of new twists, emotional roller-coaster, and tons of hope for these two get what they both want. It's heart wrenching, beautiful, sweet and steamy that will have you breathless and not wanting it to end. I had tears in my eyes with most of this but it kept me glued to my kindle and I could put it down. Absolutely amazing read that will keep you coming back for more. Can't wait to see what she next.

When I read the teaser for Back to Us, I was immediately drawn in because of it being set in a small town, and the fact that it is a second chance romance. Those are two of my favorite things in books, and Back to Us did not disappoint. As I was reading the book, it seriously felt like I was watching a Hallmark movie, just with a bit of steam added in. I could picture the scenes playing out, and I LOVED IT.

Loved the story. Loved the characters. Loved the setting. Cannot wait to see who the next book is about.

Blake and Dakota were wonderful, their story was sweet with some steam.
High school sweethearts promised each other forever, until one throw a wrench in the plans.
Then a very heartbreaking misunderstanding tears them apart for 11 years. Only being brought back by tragedy does Dakota learn the truth.
This book has some many emotions and I loved it all.

Sometimes you read a book, and it just clicks right from the start, the couple is perfectly matched, the storyline flawless executed and you just know you won't be putting the book down until the end. This was exactly what happened to me with Back To US. An epic emotionally charged story of first love, only love, and misunderstandings that shattered people's hearts. Back To Us is a brilliant 2nd chance romance, one that I highly recommend.

Kota hasn't stepped back into Cameron Falls in 11 years, now she's back for her Grandma's funeral. Kota will tell you she left at 18 after having her heartbroken by the love of her life Blake. Blake will tell you that his heart was broken at 18 by Kota after she left. Two sides to every story, two sets of hurt to be mended but will they give each other the chance to hear the other out?

Dakota and Blake have loved each other since they were kids, one misunderstanding, and two broken hearts she left to follow her dream and not her heart. Years later the broken hearts have never mended, these two were always meant for each other. All I took was one pie throwing and a huge yelling match to find their way back to each other. Loved this read soooooo much! Cameron falls seems like that magical place everyone wants to live.

I think this book is one of the best second chance romance I have ever read. Dakota and Blake are high school sweethearts but with some incidences, Dakota left and have never returned to their hometown for 11 years. I read second chance romance a lot because it is one of my favorite tropes so the plot is predictable but TC Matson writes the book so well that I don't feel boring at all. Both Dakota and Blake cause some angst in the story but it is also enjoyable with their families' interferences. I like that they can be civilised with each other if needed. I even giggle when Dakota calls Blake out to talk to her to clear the air. And when Blake finally comes to his sense and tries to win Dakota back, I swoon. Their chemistry is off-the-charts from the beginning so it isn't hard to believe in their loves. I enjoy reading the book so much, can't put in down, and finish reading it in just a few hours.

Back to Us by TC Matson a five-star read you will want to return to again and again. This is number two in the Cameron Falls series and I can not wait for number three, as Cameron Falls keeps pulling me under and making me fall even more in love. This is a compelling story, of love, loss and heartbreak that you fear you will never get over and anger so deep you fear you may never be able to be free of anger again. This is such a compelling and deep story that you can taste the anger and smell the hay and horse sweat on the air. Dakota is a great character, you can understand why she ran in the first place, but will you forgive her if she runs again? This is a great story and I can’t wait to see where this amazing author will take us next.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this book. My absolute favorite trope Second Chance at First Love and this one was perfect. Sweet and sexy with some hurt feeling from the past making me love it so much.
I was immediately sucked into this story and hated to put my Kindle.
A small town country setting made me love it even more.
TC Matson has me hooked on this series. I need more! Can't wait for the next one. I have friends in Cameron Falls and need to go back.

Spanish & English Opinion

ESP ::

¡Me encantó!

ENG ::

I love second chance romances and small town stories, so this book was effect because it mixed both tropes. I just finished with some dark romances and reading this book was perfect. It felt my heart with romance, love and hope.

Blake is pure book boyfriend material. Dakota is a great female character (never made me roll my eyes!) and their story starts since the were kids.

Their reunion has all the good elements: anticipation, tension and the chemistry is undeniable. Also there are swoony moments and hot moments without unnecessary drama. I definitely could read this story several times more. Loved it!

Blake and Dakota left me full of many emotions. I laughed, cried, and wanted to smack them upside the head. After a misunderstanding in their youth tore them apart, they finally grew up and hashed it out.

Slow burns are not usually my jam, but I was rooting for them every step of the way. They say you don't know what you have until it's gone, and this is one hundred percent true with Blake and Dakota. Their hearts were broken and refused to open for anyone else, forcing them to settle for a life they weren't fully satisfied with and on that was less than they deserved.

When the tension finally broke, I knew their chemistry would be off the charts. There's something to be said about knowing another person's body inside and out.

Blake and Dakota were perfect for one another in their youth and even more so after their time apart! Another spectacular read from T.C. Matson! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Once readers are lured back into Cameron Falls they will never want to leave!

Blake has always been in love with ranch life. Family and his ranch is what he needs to be happy, except he has been missing one particular piece to make his life complete, the one who left him behind.

Dakota left Cameron Falls and never turned back. Believing Blake, the love of her life, betrayed her after a huge fight, she went to college in California and tried to forget all about him. The career of her dreams and a best friend to work for are enough, until they aren’t anymore.

Tragedy brings Dakota home after 11 years. With her family and Blake’s so intertwined they both do their best to ignore one another and avoid being in one another’s presence. When push comes to shove, they can’t dodge one another completely and when they finally cross paths it is full of anger and pain. These interactions happen a few times before reaching a fever pitch where emotions explode, words are said and feelings are hurt. Realizations also happen, which can lead to healing. What starts as a way to get closure, results in a path full of healing and growth. A growth that eventually leads this couple to a destination they were always meant to reach.

Blake and Dakota have such passion and affection buried under so much pain that I could not put this book down from the moment I read the first word. I already adored Blake, but his story has caused me to fall desperately in love with him as my newest book boyfriend!

For someone who would NEVER consider reconciling with an ex, I am a total sucker for second chance romance. The history, the heartbreak, the hope -- I love it all, and love it even more when it's from the (genuis) mind of TC Matson. Add in a little small-town charm and memorable characters and you have the makings of a perfect read, which is exactly what you'll find in Back to Us.

Dakota and Blake were clearly made for each other, and there isn't a single moment in this book to make you think otherwise. Matson handles their reunion beautifully, with just enough stubbornness and hurt feelings to make the while storyline believable. The hesitancy, the snarky comments, the meddling of friends and family-- I could see it all happening, especially in a small town setting where everyone's business is...well, EVERYONE'S business. And while I definitely applaud Dakota's dreams and dedication to her career, there are some things in life that are just more important -- and obviously, incredibly sexy country guys that help your family, are good with kids, and love you with abandon are at the top of that list 😂

Even though this is book number 2 in the series, it works great as a standalone read. There's plenty of humor, a little drama, a little steam, and plenty of melt-your-heart-and-make-you-say-AWWW moments. This Cameron Falls series is quickly becoming one of my faves, and it won't take you long to see why ❤

"It's time to show her how dirty I'm willing to fight for her, how I should have fought for her."

5 Back to Us Stars!!! Ugh my heart!! TC knows how to wreck your heart and put it back together every time. And I can't get enough!

Dakota is a strong-willed girl, who loves hard and doesn't want her world to revolve around a man.
Blake is a stubborn guy, who is a fierce fighter. He will fight and go after whatever he wants no matter what the outcome is. These two are high school sweethearts, never apart from each other. Wherever one goes, the other is likely right behind them. They have their whole lives planned out for themselves and everything seems to be going according to plan. Until a misunderstanding rips them apart. And everything changes.

I always know that when I get a book by T.C. that I'm in for a ride. And this book was no different. I was sucked in the minute I started reading and I didn't want to put it down until I was done. I love a good book that pulls you in many directions and keeps you on your toes. And well, don't get me started on the characters... especially Blake!!! The characters she creates seem like real people and you root for them. T.C. you have done it again, you've made me fall in love with characters and their stories and I'm not apologizing for it!!! Great job!

Back To Us is a second chance romance that dances the line of enemies to lovers. Blake and Dakota were destined to be forever however when plans change, hurtful words are said and judgements are made these two spend eleven years apart. However when tragedy brings Dakota back to town all the hurt and the pain these two feel will be brought to the surface. The attraction, connection and the chemistry between these two runs just as hot as it did when they were teenagers. As the air is cleared between them you will feel the passion and the draw to each other that will be hard to walk away from. Their story will take you on a roller coaster of emotions and have you on the edge of your seat hoping that love will finally conquer all and that Dakota will realize home is where the heart is. A beautifully written romance that steals your heart and has you falling in love with Blake and Dakota.

Blake and Dakota were high school sweethearts but a misunderstanding tore them apart when they were obviously meant for each other. Now 11 years later Dakota is forced back home due to tragic circumstances and she has to face her past and Blake. Will there be a second chance in the cards for them or will they be too stubborn to see what is right in front of them? Can two broken hearts really heal each other every time? Well their emotional journey crash and burn?

Dakota walked away from Blake after a devastating revelation. Years later she has to return to Cameron Falls after the death of her grandmother. Both were damaged by the breakup but their feelings were the same as when they had been together. The question is, are they better together or apart?

TC Matson is a new-to-me author and I have to say that she really knows how to bring the feels! The way she writes pulls you in and you can feel the extreme devastation and hate/love that Dakota and Blake have for each other. This will be a reread for me!

To be honest, I didn't know why Blake was really butthurt and hated Dakota for leaving. But as the story goes on, that it was just a misunderstanding, I kind of get why. I was rooting for the two of them right from the start. I couldn't put their story down until I know they're going to be together for real now. The attraction, connection and chemistry between these two can still be felt even after 11 years apart. That just proves they belong together.

Fabulous Story & Listen! Riveting & Emotional!

Back to Us
Cameron Falls: A Small Town Romance, Book 2
By: TC Matson
Narrated by: Duncan Prescott, Kallestra Spencer

It is great to be back in TC Matson’s Cameron Falls for another wonderful novel, a small town, second chance romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Dakota Jayne and Blake Helms’ romance started before high school, and they became each other’s everything, but their relationship came to an abrupt ending after a falling out and a heartbreaking misunderstanding. Dakota left for college and did not return home for eleven years, only returning for her grandmother’s funeral. She had to face her past and her ex, Blake, who stayed in Cameron Falls and remained friendly with her family. Their icy reunion went as well as expected, but it was clear there were unresolved feeling going on behind the anger and the pain, also clear that they never got over one another. I was rooting for these two, especially after finding out the reason for their breakup. This well-written and wonderfully plotted story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, some heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions, and a fabulous second chance romance. TC Matson, thank you for another fabulous story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Duncan Prescott and Kallestra Spencer did a fantastic of bringing these characters to life, and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying. I loved how they took each role and owned it, sounding believable and just as I imagine the characters to sound. Both nailed it in the two lead roles, embodying their character’s personality completely. They conveyed all the characters’ emotions in their performance, a captivating performance that rivets you to the story. Prescott and Spencer are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.
