Beware what you wish for. You just might achieve it.
Kellik and his band have accomplished their goals, and now must reap their bitter rewards. Ruling Port Gloom is a vastly different enterprise from seeking to decapitate its government, and as the world begins to fall apart, he must decide what matters most: being the fair and just ruler or surviving to see the dawn.
For the consequences of his sins are coming home to roost. A world destroying power is making its way to his city, and it will stop at nothing in its quest for vengeance.

Having read all 4 books I have to say I really didn’t enjoy this series. Each book is kind of a downer, the plot constantly places the characters backed against a wall and somehow overcomes the substantial odds stacked against them. Honestly, this repeated plot became so consistent that I found myself “fast forwarding” through chapters in the last 2 books because they became so predictable. On top of this I hated the final act resolution for book 4 so much. Also, the fact they keep referring to aurora’s death as murder drives me insane. It was self defense, aurora immediately took a stance that the MC had to die and attacked him when he was looking to negotiate, but post the battle, they do this silly guilt trip and say they murdered her. This drove me nuts, especially with how often they mentioned it. The more I write, the more I realize how much I don’t like the MC and his guilt conscious possy and I don’t like the final conclusion for this series. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this series. Don’t waste your time like I did.
This one was tough for me, and I'll be honest, I skipped most of the middle of the book as it was just too dark/depressing for me.
How does this get a 5-star rating then? It's a very good book and very well executed, so me giving it a 3 because I didn't have the fortitude to read all of Kellik's spiral toward murderous tyrannical madness doesn't seem fair.
The author is writing some really dark stuff, and I struggle with it as I really don't enjoy much of that these days. It's a shame as he's a very good writer, but I like what I like. I'll keep checking out his work and at least giving it a try. After all, the happy ending of this one proves that it's not all medieval torture and insanity.
One of my favorite authors pulls off a fitting ending to a series that in my opinion could have run for a few more books, however I feel very satisfied with what Mike achieved. I hope he continues in this universe he created, I like his gods and magic and very realistic feel.
Loved the conclusion of the series, I have read all the books and have been fascinated with Kelliks journey through Port Gloom. I would have given this book 5 stars but I noticed one or two misplaced words, otherwise well-written and we'll ended.
The whole series of shadow rogue is a well written, absorbing adventure. Readers familiar with Mike Truk novels, will not be disappointed. The M C is easy to invest your time getting to know, as are his loves and friends
Not bad ending to series. Did a fantastic job of peaking the final drama and slowly let the wind down with a cute epilogue. Was hoping for more supernatural traits but Spoiler the author wanted to land with just being you is a great happy place with your loved ones. Cute. :-)
