"A tour de force."--David Weber, NYT bestselling author of the Honor Harrington Series.
Special Agent Jackson Fischer is a man after truth. When a military operation to extract a high-ranking ambassador from the war-torn, border-world of Stonemeyer ends in disaster, Fischer is called in to investigate.
A whole platoon went in, but only three Alliance Marines returned home, the rest killed in action along with hundreds of civilians. With tensions between the Holloman Alliance and Stonemeyer rising, Fischer attempts to stitch the pieces together. One thing becomes more and more certain: The surviving Marines are lying.
As the truth unfurls, Fischer begins to realize this was far more than a simple rescue mission...and that the truth might be something best left buried.
Filled with action, mystery, and well-crafted characters, the Valor Series will pull you into a world of war, conspiracy, and betrayal. It's perfect for fans of David Weber’s Honorverse, or Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan with a futuristic flair.

The plot was was inventive and effective combining parts of syfy, detective, and military. The characters were well developed and the main characters were distinctive from each other. The pace of the book was effective with periods of writing reflective of the characters rolls in the plot. The length of this series, just three books was right. Too many books in this genre go to 10 or12 books and, IMO, are too long. I have two minor issues. First, the editing made it difficult to read in few places: words missing, words misplaced in a sentence, or incorrect words used. It is as if a word processing spell checker was used vs a real editing process. This was especially true in book two. Two, I would have preferred some extended writing on the female hacker. She was an important part in the plot but in the end there was nothing written. Even a few lines as to what befell her would have been helpful.
I highly recommend this series to those who enjoy this genre. I would encourage those who are thinking about whether to read a novel in this genre to select this book as your first read. It will not disappoint you.
I really enjoyed this whole series. That said, I feel left somewhat hanging - what WAS the endgame? I can guess, but I’d like know.
Also, (mild spoiler) . . .
Why didn’t anybody thought of scanning people for explosives in their brain as a test? Ok, not everyone had them, but all of the hardcore assets did, which makes them easily identifiable. Scan for bomb in the brain, or for a false molar that’s used to trigger the explosion. Just take some dental x-rays, for god sake!
I thought overall was a well written book. Characters were relatable and not over the top. This is more of spy vs spy thriller that just happens to take place in the future than straight SF. I liked that. My biggest complaint is while you have all these bad guys willing to die for a cause and even commit suicide rather than be captured but the cause they are fighting for is never given or hinted about.
I read the three book series and didn’t want to put it down. Characters were full fleshed and personable. I completely enjoyed the series and plan to check out the author’s other offerings before I start another series. Strongly recommend, but only if your spouse or SO is also addicted to reading!
I found this a real good read as the mission and location changed as the story progressed. Always something going on enough so that I spent many a evening staying up till 1:00 am or until my eyes burned and just had to put it down. I enjoyed the series and almost felt like part of the team.
I've never been a crime story reader but this has change my view of all what detectives and investigators to actually do. The operators in this yarn do makes Special Forces (Delta, Green Berets ) look rather weak. ( Not Really). But this kept me reading ever chance I could . EXCELLENT Job Mr. Josh Hayes!!!!
I gave the series an overall five rating. The writing is done well, and the storyline was excellent. The only problem I had with it was editing problems. Words were constantly being misused, occasional punctuation errors, and some odd extra words were irritating. Even with these irritants, I would highly recommend the series.
When I started reading, I assumed this was another sci-fi military novel. I was so wrong. This collection is full of espionage, backroom political scandal, and enough military to satisfy anyone. I love how the author rolled all these parts together to keep me wanting more. An excellent series!
A good attempt, but it left me with mixed feelings. There were some brilliant moments, but they were overshadowed by a plot that felt too predictable. The writing was solid, yet the characters lacked depth in places. I finished it, but I wasn’t as satisfied as I hoped. It’s enjoyable, but not unforgettable.
I really enjoyed this futuristic police story. It definitely kept me engrossed from start to finish. The only complaint I have is at the number of grammatical errors which seemed to compound in the third book. It was distracting.
This was a fun read. The editing missed a few things here and there, but it’s not hard to parse the meaning. The story though is fun to read with good action sequences. If you enjoy military syfy, you’ll enjoy this book. Recommended.
Great story, great characters, good plot that is as relevant today as the future. Multiple subplots and likely scenarios that you can relate to from current and future history. Entertaining, snarky space warfare book.
A truly unforgettable story! The plot was so well-crafted, with twists and turns that kept me guessing. The characters were relatable and the dialogue was sharp. I loved every moment of it and was sad to see it end. One of the best things I’ve read in a long time.
I would recommend this set to anyone who enjoys spy situations. The characters are vivid and unforgettable. The action and storyline runs smoothly from start to finish.
