Beginner french stories c’est bon!

This story was great for beginners in french. Easy to read, understand and look up words. The questions also helped with comprehension.

Delightful Book to Help You Learn French

As learning languages interests me, particularly French, I've read and reviewed a fair amount of language-learning books. I enjoyed this particular one for several reasons. I was surprised initially to see that it only had fifteen stories... but the book is 215 pages long in the PDF ARC copy I received. So many books of foreign-language short-story books have more stories but fewer pages. I was delighted to see why this book was different when I opened it up. Each story has a large section devoted to it, including the story in French, English versions, and comprehension questions. This, of course, is typical of foreign language learning books. But the difference is in the details. The stories in French are longer than I typically see in short-story foreign-language-learning books. Further, that initial short story is broken up with brief vocabulary lists, so you can immediately see the meanings of words in English (bolded in the French story). Comprehension questions in French follow. After this is a delightful side-by-side dual translation, with French on the left side and the English translation on the right. As a longtime student of French, I didn't necessarily agree with every part of the translation, but in general, they were good, and I liked seeing them side-by-side. I'm not sure how that format will translate to a Kindle or eBook. Interestingly, the publisher even does a side-by-side dual-language translation of the comprehension questions! I don't think I've seen that in any other foreign-language-learning book. If you are a beginning- to intermediate-level French student, you will most likely enjoy and appreciate this book as much as I did.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Yet another AI-written book with no author and full of mistakes.

Signs of AI:

- no author
- simple formatting, no illustrations
- Occasional American spellings from a book produced in the UK
- incorrect translations that an experienced language author would never be confused by
- stories with nonsensical elements ("Josephine's dog is called Pirate because he is a prankster")

Sorry, couldn't get past the first few pages as I cannot trust the accuracy of AI generated content. Give me a real book written by a real author produced by a real publishing company any day.

15 beautiful stories to help us with learning French. The stories are short, interesting funny and enjoyable. My favourite stories are “Le parapluie magique”, “Tel chien, tel maître!” and “L’arbre qui boude”.
There was only one thing I didn’t like and that was the vocabularies in the middle of the stories because they broke the rhythm of the reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
