City girl Janine Wilson’s career is taking off but the same can’t be said about her love life. No matter—as manager of the Inn at Blue Moon Bay, Janine’s in charge of throwing a huge party to celebrate the Inn’s recent expansion and doesn’t have time for distractions. Unfortunately, two big ones suddenly show up: her thrill-seeking incompatible ex, Cody, who refuses to accept their breakup, and Cody’s handsome and charming best friend, Texas cowboy Jackson Davis.
Reluctantly, Janine agrees to meet Cody for one last dinner because Cody says he has a huge business opportunity for the Inn. But when Cody takes her on a boat ride to show her his great idea, Jackson is at the helm. Janine has been trying to resist her attraction to Jackson because they have no common interests, not to mention he’s her ex’s best friend. Once they stop on a deserted island, though, Janine doesn’t expect the sparks that fly between them, the spontaneous kiss they share, or what Cody does after witnessing said kiss.
Janine was convinced she needed a sophisticated man who shared the same interests as her. Now that she’s been stranded on a deserted island with Jackson, will she discover he’s everything she never knew she really wanted?
SUSAN HATLER is a New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author, who writes humorous and emotional contemporary romance and young adult novels. Many of Susan’s books have been translated into German, Spanish, French, and Italian. A natural optimist, she believes life is amazing, people are fascinating, and imagination is endless. She loves spending time with her characters and hopes you do, too.
Janine is a take-charge character and when a tricky little ploy by her ex-boyfriend leaves her stranded with her crush on an island, the humor emerges. You see, Janine is a city girl and snakes, rain, cooking over a campfire with limited supplies aren't in her repertoire.
Although Janine is a girly girl and everything on the island scares her or bothers her, she eventually mellows and I really grew to like her. Jackson is one cool cowboy and his patience and swoon definitely make him a keeper. I adored him from the start and that feeling only grew stronger as the story progressed. This relationship definitely has sparks!
I have come to cherish Blue Moon Bay. I adore the characters who live there; I'm fascinated by the legend; and I love the small-town, quirky, charming feel. Ms. Hatler does a fantastic job of transporting the reader straight to the heart of the story, making them feel like an honorary character, and this one also delivered a healthy dose of humor. I can't wait for more!

This was such a fun book! It's no secret that I love reading Susan Hatler's books and I was really excited to read Janine's story. She made some strong appearances in The Sweetest Kiss (Book #4) (along with Jackson!) and I knew her story was going to be a good one.
I think I would like to be friends with Janine. She is my kind of girl. I really bonded with her over the whole "camping" experience. I loved her desire to prove herself that translated into hard work and concern for her job.
Jackson- so loyal and kind. How can you not love him? There were so many charged moments between Janine and Jackson- yummy kissing, undeniable attraction and of course, plenty of misunderstanding. Even in their worst moments, I still loved them both.
This was another fabulous addition in this Kissed by the Bay series and one of favorites. I loved this one.

I liked Janine and Jackson's story. I thought their chemistry was good and I enjoyed the ex's best friend angle. Some humor, tension, drama and tension are woven with emotions and romance to craft a fun and entertaining read. This is my honest, voluntary review.
Janine Wilson is a simple girl, really seductive, but with no self-esteem. She has a really good chance to be the manager of the Inn at Blue Moon Bay. She has a lot to do, but decides to visit a business opportunity with her ex-boyfriend Cody. She broke up with him almost a year ago, but he still invites her everywhere. On the trip with them is another guy Jackson Davis. He is best friend of her ex and also the one who makes her heart beat faster. And of course things go wrong. So wrong ... but it’s important to see the positives at all times. Janine tries new things and overcomes her fears.
I loved her story like any story in Blue Moon Bay. It was sweet and bitter. I really liked the surfing part. We need to try and see what can be done. And when everything goes bad, we do our best and in the end everything turns in the right direction.
"If you can't beat them, join them"
I want to thank Netgalley and Hatco Publishing for this opportunity.
Overall I liked this book. Janine is in charge of getting everything together for the opening of the inn. Her ex causes her to get stranded on an island with Jackson. They both like each other but he is planning on moving back to Texas. This makes what they have difficult. That is until they both decide they mean too much to each other. Thankfully by the end they came to their senses and got their happy ending.
I love how in recent books Janine and Jackson were getting close but not going over the line because of her relationship with Cody. Cody was different than Janine and didn't take her needs into account. She ended up kissing Jackson and being stranded with him on a remote island. They ended up falling in love. I love how Janine ended up making up with her family and figuring out that she was not the disappointment to them that she thought she was. Susan Hatler did a good job of portraying the different emotions when it comes to family.

-‘Was it expecting too much to want the men I dated to show some modicum of enthusiasm over something that I enjoyed? Something sophisticated and cultural where I wasn’t likely to die? Apparently so.’-
This cute, quirky, humourous story is the latest release from Susan Hatler’s clean, contemporary romances. In this book, Janine finally gets her HEA, but not without many blunders and difficulties along the way. For starters, she, a city girl who’s never even gone camping before, gets marooned on a deserted island when her ex-boyfriend dumps her there and leaves her without a boat and with very few supplies. Then, everything that could possibly go wrong, does, while she’s trying to get the inn where she works renovated in time for the grand opening on Valentine’s Day. The “fun” and adventures continue for Janine as she faces her anxiety and insecurities and tries to win back the affections of the man she’s fallen in love with...
-“Hey, I’m a reformed city girl turned partial-cowgirl-surfer girl. I can buck up in the wilderness with the best of them.”-
I enjoyed this book, especially the humour that was woven throughout. I would recommend it and look forward to reading more from the author.

I received an ARC from the author. Janie is the manager of the resort in Blue Moon Bay. She is working through a huge renovation that is having its share of problems. She has to complete the renovation on schedule because she already booked the rooms and has a reception planned. She has always felt like she didn’t matter to her family and this has to work so she can show them she is capable of making something of herself. Jackson is a woodworker she is trying not to fantasize over. He is her ex boyfriends best friend. She feels guilty for having feelings for him. But Cody won’t stop calling her and he decides to whisk her away. So Cody gets Jackson in on the plan. Jackson has feelings for Jamie but won’t act on them because of his friend. But when things don’t go as planned for Cody he ends up leaving Jackson and Janie stuck on a small island with nothing but a small tent and some basic supplies. Janie is beside herself with worry over the resort and figures she is going to be out of a job. Jackson and Janie discover they do have feelings for each other. Can they together pull off the renovations and find true love? You must read this book! It is another wonderful story and I absolutely love this series!
I really wanted to read this book since it was Janine and Jackson’s story!
I am not a fan of the cowboy trope so originally I didn’t think I would want to read this book but once I read The Friendly Cottage I had to know what happened next.
I loved that this story had a touch of a Cinderella vibe since Janine has an “evil” stepmum and stepsisters. Her stepmum doesn’t believe that Janine will ever amount to anything but Janine wants to prove her wrong.
Janine is now the general manager but everything is going wrong especially when Cody sends her out on a boat ride and doesn’t bring her back!
I just loved Jackson and Janine on the island! I even learned about some survival skills. I didn't even know you could dig for clams on the beach or that they have air pockets in the holes and that's how you know a clam is in it. Jackson was so sweet to teach Janine how to surf!
It was also so sweet to see Janine feel at home in Blue Moon Bay, find her perfect career for her, and find Jackson. :)

I truly enjoyed reading this book! It is a sweet & charming romance. Janine, had felt she would never find her place in life. When she moved to Blue Moon Bay, for a job, Janine knew this is where she belonged. Jackson, moved here from Texas. Being able to create anything with wood, Jackson, purchased an old Victorian home, to fix up. Janine's ex-boyfriend, Cody, talked her into dinner & boat trip. The timing is not the best. She's overseeing all the renovations, at the Inn. Janine, is surprised that Jackson, joined them. She has been attracted to Jackson, since she first met him, but he is her ex's best friend. While on island, where they would to have dinner, she finally gave into her feelings. Janine kissed Jackson. She's never felt that kind of spark before, like she did, with Jackson. The story pulled at all my heartstrings. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!!!
Wonderful romance. Janine has finally found a place she feels at home and a job she loves and excels at. For years she has been trying to prove to her family that she is successful, and now funning the Blue Moon Inn and overseeing the renovations to two of the buildings, she thinks she might just have accomplished her wish. But then her ex, Cody, who has been trying to get back with her for weeks, cons her into going to a deserted island, then gets mad at her and leaves her stranded there with his best friend Jackson. A best friend who Janine has secretly been in love with for a long time, but she thinks they have nothing in common. But when sparks fly, being stranded might just be the best thing that has happened to her in a long time. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Oopsie Island is Romance with a capital R, stranded on a deserted island with your ex’s best friend how can you not fall in love with Jackson, a cowboy who knows what to do to survive. There is great chemistry between Janine and Jackson but Jackson knows he is moving back to Texas which will ruin any hopes for a relationship with Janine. Janine finally feels she belongs to something at the Blue Moon Bay Inn since she has never felt she belongs with her family. This story deals with family, love, and trust. This book is a wonderful edition to the Blue Moon Bay series and I highly recommend reading this book.

Janine Wilson is the general manager of Blue Moon Bay Inn. She’s currently overseeing the renovations. The inn’s original two back buildings are set to open for guests Valentine’s weekend. Jackson Davis is Cody’s best friend and a woodworker. Cody and Janine broke up the previous summer but Cody keeps trying to win Janine back. Janine and Jackson have a connection but don’t do anything with it because of Cody. Cody tells Janine he has something planned that will help the inn and manages to convince her to see it with him. Jackson goes with them to a little island. Cody gets upset and leaves Janine and Jackson stranded on the island. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Janine at first. She’s always worried she isn’t as good as her step-sisters. Jackson helps her see she can be herself and still be a great person. Janine grew on me. I always liked Jackson. I really enthusiasm book and highly recommend it.

When you are stranded on an island and outdoor living ain't your thing
*** May 21, 2021 *** I originally read and reviewed The Oopsie Island under it's previous title, All About That Kiss. This story is the same as then and I don't believe there are changes to the story-line. So my original review is still valid.
*** September 27, 2019 *** All About That Kiss by Susan Hatler is a funny, flirty and quirky story about Janine and Jackson. But there is also her ex Cody, who deliberately strands Janine and Jackson on a deserted island. Janine is not an outdoors girl at all, I can relate, so even if she is stranded with her crush and there is chemistry it still is not going to go well. Well that is with the great outdoors. With Jackson things go surprisingly well once she starts to see him in a whole new light.

Janine wants true love, one with a spark, where they each make compromises and do things each other like and live happily ever after, alas she is not having much luck and her last boyfriend Cody won't take the hint they are well and truly over! Her dream guy is Jackson which she has no clue why as he is the total opposite however one kiss, one island, one snake and one chance and things change however you are kept on your toes as to whether Janine and Jackson will get their happy ever after or if they will be the new kissed by the bay legend!!

Each book in this series can be read as a stand alone. Characters from previous books pop in from time to time, but if you have not read their stories in order, it is not too distracting. I have been reading these completely out of order, and have had no issues.
Each story is a sweet, clean romance written as a 1st person single pov with a HFN/HEA ending. This one happened to have a HEA ending.
Entertaining story lines, awesome characters (even Mr. Slithers), comical dialogue, and easy to visualize detailed descriptions.

A sweet book from a series about a small town and its citizens. It is a standalone novel. In this book, we meet Janine, who, as manager of a local hotel, oversees a renovation that is not proceeding smoothly. In addition, she is interrupted all the time by her ex boyfriend, while daydreaming about this ex;s best friend. The ex, Cody, manages to lure Janine to a small desert island. His friend Jackson is with them too and, when things don;t go the way Cody wants, he takes the boat and sets sail, leaving Janine and Jackson behind. They get closer to each other as they wait for their rescue. The question is whether that will continue to go well when they are back in the real world. Humorously written, fun characters, a sweet romance.

Janine is running an inn at Blue Moon Bay. Her ex, Cody, stops by to say he has an idea to get more customers into her inn. When she meets him, he takes her to a boat, captained by his friend Jackson, who Janine has liked for a long time. At a deserted island, Cody sees Janine kissing Jackson and leaves them stranded.
The characters are terrific, with plenty of banter and feelings that come out. The storyline has great twists and surprises, including the way Jackson acts on the island. Loved the way family came back together. This story had me hooked from the beginning and I can not wait to read more about this group and locale.

This was a great story to read. Full of romance, a little bit of drama and some fun. It was funny to read how a city girl can adjust to everything on a deserted island. It was great to see how Jackson fell in love with her and taught her to surf and so many other things. A really nice read to escape reality and relax at the Blue Moon Bay.

Ms Hatler delivers fine entertainment, each book I read in the Blue Moon Bay series just keeps getting and better than the previous. I find the interplay between the characters from previous episodes so entertaining. If you want to spend a weekend reading then I would definitely recommend this series

Its good to be back in Blue Moon Bay. This time its time for Janine to have her happy ending. Janine is the general manager at the inn. She is flat out busy over seeing the renovations in time for the grand opening party. The last thing she needs is an ex that wont take a hint. When Cody her ex turns up at work, begging her to come with him. he has something to show her. Janine reluctantly agrees.only because it could benefit the inn. To make matters worse, when she turns up at the boat. Cody's best friend Jackson is also there. Janine is attracted to Jackson but tries to deny it. When they arrive on the private island its not long till Cody's true reasons for the trip become apparent. When Cody witnesses a kiss between Janine & Jackson he runs off leaving them stranded. I really felt for Janine, having to camp out, I like my creature comforts far too much to ever want to camp. Jackson is such a nice guy, my heart swooned when he went to all that effort to make a makeshift table for the date they had on the island. I found myself cheering them onto their happy ever after. ARC voluntarily received in exchange for a honest review.
This is the sixth book in the Blue Moon Bay Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a sweet, clean romance that is fun to read. You'll enjoy Janine's story as the manager of the Blue Moon Inn. While she excelled at her work her love life was a distance memory until she met Jackson, the gorgeous cowboy. He was the opposite of what she thought she needed in life. Stranded on an island after being abandoned by her ex, chemistry began to kick in. Th it.e book will have you laughing most of the time. A cute romantic comedy that was fun to read. I read a free book via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review
I really enjoyed this easy read story. It's the story of a workoholic who is trying to organise the refurb and big opening party of the hotel she works for. Her Ex boyfriend wants to offer a unique opportunity for the business, they take a trip to an Island with one of their friends. A kiss between friends and they get stranded on the island. What will happen next, will love bloom and will they get off the island. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
