I'm a fan of this author generally, but this book I didn't really take to. It had potential for sure. It was written in the calm and subdued but romantic tones fans are familiar with but the characters here are less likable to read about. I feel that the read-between-the-lines romance style doesn't work as well for the two main characters here. They were falling in the right direction but then at some point, teleported to a relationship and then to marriage and kids in a heartbeat. It was so sudden and subtle that I think even the heroine was still confused about how she got there in the end.

It's always tricky to write about a romance between a fan and his/her idol. I thought their transition was a little questionable and the foundation for their romance just a little flimsy. Particularly, what irked me about their relationship was that they didn't seem to communicate very well. The whole situation with the ex-wife was never addressed directly which was weird. It was like a giant elephant in the room that no one ever spoke about. There are a lot of things that these two should have talked about more but that was the biggest slice.

It was short, with a happy ending and practically no drama so it's still worth reading to the pass the time especially if you're a fan of the author.
