FAITH-BASED WRITING AT ITS BEST.
Following the Civil War, Zac Trimbell knows he is no longer the same man as when he left. Fighting the internal demons brought on from his experiences in the violent and inhuman conditions of war he soon learns that he suffers from PTSD.

As Zac is dragged into hopelessness, he moves forward with fierce determination, leading old neighbors and freed slaves west to the Colorado gold fields, hoping for a new start. He later finds himself in Las Vegas, New Mexico where he is called to help a family in need.

Zac makes it his mission to assist where he is needed and see that justice is done, even as he struggles with his own troubles. That is, until he discovers the raiders who murdered his family have been located. When he saddles up for the long ride south, he doesn't know what to expect but hopes that the road to redemption lays before him.

A historical Christian western series like none you have read before!

Reluctant Redemption: The Complete Series includes – Reluctant Redemption, A Winding Trail to Justice and Rough Road to Redemption.

About the author

Reg Quist

Reg Quist’s pioneer heritage includes sod shacks, prairie fires, home births, and children’s graves under the prairie sod, all working together in the lives of people creating their own space in a new land.
Out of that early generation came farmers, ranchers, business men and women, builders, military graves in faraway lands, Sunday Schools that grew to become churches, plus story tellers, musicians, and much more.
Hard work and self-reliance were the hallmark of those previous great generations, attributes that were absorbed by the following generation.
Quist’s career choice took him into the construction world.  From heavy industrial work, to construction camps in the remote northern bush, the author emulated his grandfathers, who were both builders, as well as pioneer farmers and ranchers.
It is with deep thankfulness that Quist says, “I am a part of the first generation to truly enjoy the benefits of the labors of the pioneers. My parents and their parents worked incredibly hard, and it is well for us to remember”.
Quist’s heart was never far from the land. The family photo albums testify to how often he found himself sitting on a horse, both as a child and into later life, when he and his wife owned their own small farm, complete with kids and horses.
Respect for the pioneers, working alongside skilled, tough workmen, and learning from them, marrying his high school sweetheart and welcoming children into the world, purchasing land for the family to grow on, and riding horses with the kids, all melded together to influence Quist’s life and writing. Over, and under, and wrapped around his life is Quist’s Christian heritage. This too, shows itself in his writing.
Quist’s writing career was late in pushing itself forward, remaining a hobby while family and career took precedence. Only in early retirement, was there time for more serious writing.
Quist’s writing interests lie in many genres including children’s work, short lifestyle stories, cowboy poetry, western novels, plus Christian articles and novels.
Woven through every story is the thought that, even though he was not there himself in that pioneer time, he knew some that were. They are remembered with great respect.

A thoughtful and moving book

This book exemplifies every veteran of every war. The premise is ageless. Zac fights external and internal wars and overcomes them all. A truly great read. Enjoy.

This is 3 books about civil war vet Zac Trimble starting when he rode away form the last to his last battle to headed to the Colorado gold fields. It closes with him on his ranch near Las Vegas NM. The writer graphically descibes his problems with PTSD as well as the loss of his wife and daughter to murderous raiders befre he ever got home. Its a good story that depicts Zac finally finding redeemption and marring atthe conclusion of the story.

STORY ABOUT TRUSTING GOD, ALWAYS...

Felt like I was living vicariously through the main character. The story really allows you to become immersed in it. You feel it, you live, too. Great example of God's patience and unwavering love for us. If anyone wants to see how God applies his caring grace and love, this story is absolutely a great example of that.
Love the story. I loved the characters. Easy story to share with someone who doesn't necessarily believe in God.

A Thought Provoking Story

It’s difficult to understand the effects that combat has on the parties involved. This story takes the reader on the journey from deep mental stress through acknowledgment, acceptance and finally healing-well worth the effort!

real western romance

Had a lot of history. Soldiers and the problems they deal with as is still the case today, although at the time of Zac it was not treated nor understood.

Reluctant Redemption is set right after the Civil War. Rev Quist has written an inspirational story about the struggles after war and how war changes men. Zac Trimball is left with PTSD after the Civil War. Zac is a changed man. Now his mission is helping others. This is an enjoyable story set in a time of conflict in America. If you have never read any of Reg Quist books, give Reluctant Redemption a try. I received an arc for free for a voluntary honest review.

The three books contained in this collection are great! Starting at the end of the civil war and the following years. A wide cast of interesting characters are described. Zac is followed from the battlefield suffering from nightmares and depression to the devastation at home. Wow! I was so glad to have all three books included in this collection. There are a number of situations that Zac gets into over the years chasing murderers and cattle thieves etc. I highly recommend this collection.

Greatly Enlightening in a Very Enjoyable Manner!
Quist masterfully blends realistic characters and scenes in this early frontier western in a most entertainment way as people struggle to survive against the racial and other challenges of that day. Mainly revealing the struggle with PTSD effects of war, Quist brings more understanding to dealing with it.
