I feel like it’s very rarely that I love the middle of a book. I’ll like the beginning for its promise. The ending for its delivery. But never will my favorite part be the middle. But that’s the case here. The beginning was boring and ordinary. The ending was rushed and. Honestly just kinda. Bleh. I didn’t like it. But the middle was. Good with a caveat. Spoilers ahead:
The middle. Talking about turning back time. The angst. The “oh I can’t let you do this I’m gonna die” the way it all kinda came together. Was really cool. I just didn’t fucking care about the characters at all. The beginning with the FMC being like “oh I’m not gonna love you” to “oh your too young I’ll love you later” to “oh what the hell maybe I love you now” in like 5 chapters was insane and I just. Didn’t get it or like it. This middle writing deserved way more. Buildup. Character development. Plot. MEAT. but they gave us. Nothing. And then after the good middle part the ending just went right back down. It got all muddled and confusing with the betrayal. The prince having dreams of the past but not thinking they’re real and the FMC not telling him they happened and then him lying about it and then losing the court case into realizing the MMC was tortured to death?? It was all very confusing and just. I mean the prince being tortured to death. It was mentioned for a second and then glazed over. Me when I give my characters trauma for no reason and then glaze over it and move on. 🤨 Mods?? Chop off his balls. Idk it was just. Eugh. Like if I could give a one word review. It’s eugh. The whole story as a whole was. Eugh. I have been on a bad streak lately and honestly. I don’t know if my brain will allow me to read something I like anymore. 😞
Honestly this is a very mid entry for the genre. There is lady reborn into the pages of a novel with a heavy sense of deja vu. She can't remember what is to come clearly and wonders if she is affecting the storyline. As it turns out things are not quite that simply and a time loop adds to the drama. She's strong and sassy at the start but still able to be abducted when needed for the plot. The male lead is sweet and bashful around the protagonist and fierce against the rest. There is a monster hunt, some balls, political conspiracies, wars in the borderlands, a swordsmanship competition, and magical powers. Some of the fluff works, some of the tension works, and the associated artwork is fine. There is nothing strongly objectionable or bad, it just doesn't have a memorable gimmick to stand out.

Age gap of 5 years where the ml is younger than the fl but I must say their relationship is well-built. When the ml was younger & started chasing after the fl, the fl clearly set some boundaries between them and she treated the ml just like her brother (alas, he was pet-zoned at some point 🤣).
They are strong & wise, and are always there for one another. Say goodbye to weak fl. Not here! And I truly enjoy seeing the punishment received by the villains. Truly deserved.

I thought this was cute and entertaining. What I didn't like about the story was that the main female character kind of changed as the story progressed. Like it went from being a non lady like rebellious and strong girl to a noble lady in the same chapter. Her strengths and abilities also fluctuated the same way. The inconsistency I didn't like.
