Good read

I really enjoyed this story about Amerie and Maxwell. Amerie initially rubbed me the wrong way but I did grow to like her. Maxwell was a good man from beginning to end. I love how the author made them deal with similar situations so they could relate to one another. I enjoyed watching their friendship grow and watching their relationship develop. It was a sweet love story and I would definitely read another book from this author.

When two broken souls meet the only thing that can happen are good things, right? Well, it depends on who you ask. Amerie is a woman that's suffered a tragic lost and cannot envision herself moving forward, especially not with the physical therapist that's supposed to be assisting her with healing. Amerie is trying her hardest to keep up the strong independent façade, but the only person she's fooling is herself. "What if I fell for Maxwell and something happened to him like Carver? I would be devastated all over again. But, I also knew I couldn't live everyday in fear."

Maxwell has suffered his own tragic experience. But like any man, he handles his loss so much differently than a woman. Specifically, Amerie. He's a healer by nature, so it was only right that he's a physical therapist. "You are always here trying to fix everything. Fix me! I'm unrepairable. I am broken, Maxwell. You can't fix me too." He wants what's best for Amerie, professionally and unprofessionally. Her feisty demeanor is somewhat deterring, but also proving to be a major turn on.

This was my first read by this author and I must admit, this was a cute contemporary read. I also liked the main characters' careers, a physical therapist and a baker. If you're looking for a love story without the drama, this is the read for you.

What beautiful story of love, loss, dealing with grief, friendship and second chances! Amerie was gutted when she loss her fiancé. She was left with a broken heart, broken spirit as well as a broken ankle. Change was something that she was not dealing well with, and to have her therapist changed last minute made her snap. When she met Maxwell, she was less than pleasant. However, always the professional, Maxwell did his best to work around her attitude. Maxwell, a physical therapist, knew first hand the pains of grief. So, he lends a helping hand, trying to keep her spirits up. They quickly develop a friendship, and Amerie doesn't know how to deal with the feelings that she has for Maxwell. Maxwell, begins to fall but is patient as he knows that Amerie is not ready yet. The way that Maxwell catered to Amerie, by making sure she ate on a regular basis, and did not let her dwell too much in her grief was everything. This love story was one for the books! Great read!

Broken

This is my first read from this author. I was pleased at the story telling and the flow of it. I didn’t see any spelling errors or punctuation errors as well. I enjoyed reading about how these two characters came together to heal their hearts. Will be checking out this authors catalog!

❤️❤️🤧

Awwww! I couldn’t even fathom going through what Amerie experienced. Death is painful but especially when it’s unexpected. I loved how genuine and patient Maxwell was. He allow things to happen organically and in their own time. I really enjoyed this story and its characters

Broken by K.O. McGee is about baker Amerie Grey and Maxwell Hill. Amerie is injured in a car accident that claims her fiancé’s life. Amerie physical therapist is Maxwell, he’s also the owner of the physical therapy clinic. When they first meet she’s very snippy with him which is understandable because she’s having a hard time dealing with the loss of her fiancé as well as coping with her injury while running a business. Maxwell is attracted to Amerie from the very beginning but he’s dealt with loss too and understands she’s not looking for anything at the moment. So he decides to befriend her/ help her through this difficult time by checking in on her, bringing her lunch and cope with her anxiety attacks. Maxwell is so sweet 🥰 This is a slow burn romance! I liked both Maxwell and Amerie and could see where they were both coming from emotionally. However, the story didn’t flow very well for me. I also felt like I didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked with the characters in the moment, their was a lot of inner dialogue. The ending is cute, if you’re looking for a new to me author give this one a try.

CW~ car accident, loss of spouse, mentions stillbirth

Love After Tragedy

Amerie faces the greatest challenge of her life when she loses her fiancé in a car crash. What’s worse is she was there and couldn’t prevent it and was hurt in the process. Once the dust settles, she finds herself in the care of Maxwell Hill for physical therapy and the road to recovery for her broken ankle and broken heart begin.

The story began beautifully detailing the unthinkable emotions that Amerie experienced and Maxwell’s experiences and heart for Amerie. About halfway through, the story took a turn. The storyline began to get a bit confusing as to when events happened, such as the welcome home party. The same happened with the characters. Maxwell was understanding one moment, pushy the next, then frustrated without good reason. When Amerie did come around, she also backtracked, having actions that didn’t align with her words. It felt as if a consistent flow was never fully established causing the characters to feel underdeveloped and the story to become disjointed. In this case, a little bit of developmental editing would’ve served wonders. Overall, the story is pretty straight forward and a sweet romance after tragedy story.

Heartwarming story!

This was my first read by this author and the story that unfolded was a very touching tale of grief, healing, and love. Maxwell and Amerie were able to provide what each other needed and overcome any doubts and fears that were totally understandable given their circumstances. I look forward to reading more from this author as she continues to grow and fine tune her craft.

So much going on

Broken can be derived from many things, with multiple meanings. In this story, broken was how America felt for a period after losing the love of her life. Her body and spirit were healed through a likely, yet, unlikely source. Maxwell Hill was a therapist and a magician. You will enjoy their story as they journey to unbrokenness!
