Being a Magical Engineer is easy.
You know what’s not easy?

Trying to help stop a coup against one of the Arcane families.
Or fighting against a bloodthirsty rebellion.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, I’m kind of juggling five men who are too good looking for their own good,
And who hate each other.
The only thing they have in common?
They want me.

Bast might be okay with the harem life,
But what about the rest of them?
Can I make this work,
Or am I going to just fall flat on my face causing an even bigger mess?

Yeah, welcome to my crazyville.

At least I have my magic back.
Now I just need to hold on to the family I've created for myself
And find the strength to deal with this Frenetic life.

No pressure, right?

Author note: Frenetic is book four of the Arcane Mage series. This book is a reverse harem romance intended for adult audiences. It contains adult language, lots of cursing, and sexual themes that are not suitable for anyone under the age of eighteen. No opossums were hurt in the makings of this book, but please read with caution because excessive heat levels might be in the near future.

T.S. Snow

25 books520 followers
A scientist at heart, T.S. Snow lives in a land far far away, secluded from most authors and readers (rumor has it that if you open your wardrobe you can find her hiding in there trying to take a nap). T.S. has a thirst for learning new languages, even if she is mostly worried about finding out new curse words in them. She has an amazing support system that include a loving boyfriend, her family, friends and her loyal - if completely lazy - dog. When she's not writing, T.S. can often be found causing complete chaos with her friends on social media, inhaling unhealthy amounts of coffee, or napping. Mostly napping.

TS Snow is secretly a demon that lives off her reader's pain and fury.

"Nice" is how she'd described this book's ending. Nice is what it was NOT. TS deserves no cookies. Withhold all the treats.

Char has her work cut out for her in this one and man is it a roller coaster ride. I loved almost every second. My husband simply laughed as I screamed at my Kindle.

Bast is MINE. Do not make me fight anyone for him because I will and I will play dirty.

I adore Gran. Always. Still waiting for links to properly decorate my house in her honor😉

Blaze.... boy. Figure it out!
Andres is scrumptious.
Logan is very alpha male in this one (as always) but I love it.
Theo. Meh. TS can keep him.

Blair is amazing. I hope she gets an off shoot.

Okay. Finally. TS Snow get over here and fix what you've done!!!!.

This series is a mixed bag for me.

I like the world, and the overall arc. I have trouble with Charisma, the FMC - I like the geek girl thing she has going on, but she's sometimes too spineless and damsely for me. I don't like how she's constantly looking for a guy to tell her what to do.

I do like some of the guys a lot. Others, I would happily light on fire.

I want Char to quit the AMIA. I think I talked about that in another review. They treat her like a naughty child in constant need of scolding, when she's brilliant and hasn't done a goddamn thing wrong in terms of how she's handled the case. And she takes it. This goes back to my spineless comment - I want her to tell them okay, good luck, I quit ... just so they stop treating her like someone they own. I want her to have some damn respect for herself. She doesn't need them - she doesn't need any of them. They need her.

So, mixed bag. YMMV.

Her best work yet

Frenetic is by far my favourite book in the Arcane Mage series (so far!). The slow burn tension that has been simmering away between Char and the heirs is coming to a head, Char's sense of humour in the face of every obstacle she encounters is always on point, and we really get a sense of each guy's life and their own struggles in this book.

I personally am very excited about this cliffhanger and where it will take us in the final book of the series ❤️

This book did not pull me in like the first 3 did. I had at least 4 times I thought about quitting altogether. The flow was super slow until about the 75% point. A lot of angsty drama that I don't really like. The POV change each chapter when the previous chapter just started picking up got old in a hurry. I do appreciate the POV change, but it almost felt like mini cliff-hangers at each chapter POV change. I'll probably pick up book 5 when it comes out, but it will need a drastic improvement to keep me reading the series.

I don't understand what it is about this series that just makes me wanna stab my eye with a fork. Repeatedly.

I'm trying really really hard not to hate the FMC right now. I can tolerate clumsy. I can tolerate idiocy. I can even tolerate her overuse of the word "opossum." But what I can't EVER stand is her lack of self-independence. Like she needs other people to give her an ok every time she makes a decision.

And, also, was I supposed to find those jokes funny??

I guess the harem is starting to come together now, but I found the introduction and convincing needed on the part of everyone to be rather awkward. Char's humor and general clumsiness was still rather distracting and not that funny to me.

The writing continues to have rather flat character development even though we start meeting more of their family due to various circumstances. An okay 3-stars, and I still plan on continuing just to see what happens.

Char is opening up to the idea to have a harem of her own. Bast gives her the green light to like the other heirs, and Andres doesn't waste a minute. Blaze, Logan and Theo need a little bit more of a push, but when Logan and Theo get captured by the rebels and and Char is blackmailed into coming to their hideout to save them, they find out that the rebels have support from the least expected place.
Like the previous books in the series, this one didn't disappointed! It ends with a cliffhanger that makes me wish book 5 was already out, but I'm working on my patience so I can wait... maybe!
There are also some hot scenes taking place with Char, Andres and Bast 😏. I can't wait to see what's going to happen between Char and the rest of the guys!!!

I had the same problem with this book as I did the last couple. Charisma's randomness just didn't entertain me as much. I think it's because these last couple books have a more serious tone, there are a lot of important things going on, life-threatening things, and her usual personality just clashed for me. It was like she wasn't taking things seriously. However, I do still feel like it earned the 4-star, even given that. I love all of the characters (yes, I do still love Charisma, even if she is sometimes a little much) and the world-building is fantastic. I can tell there are still lots of mysteries to unravel here and the romantic suspense is KILLING ME! I cannot wait until the next book.

This was great on the relationship front however I feel like we’ve been taken out of the action with the plot and story being sidelined at Bast’s house. We hear about Charisma’s badassery but I don’t see it much. This book didn’t have a lot to go on it. I suspected one of the people after her back in book 2 so it was a little bit of a letdown that I was correct bc it had taken so long to find out this answer. We still don’t know the reasons behind the resistance.

I do like the harem aspect though. I think Andres is super adorable and I love all the internal marshmallows these men are. I just wish that that part was a bit quicker to form. Overall I’m interested to see how this all ties up.

Things are really heating up for Char in this book, but there is also a lot happening. I love Bast - he is awesome and I love his relationship with Char. Andres’ has been challenged to a duel by hus uncle, and the resistance is stepping up their attack on the heirs. This book does end on a cliffhanger, so hopefully ok 5 is out soon :)

Brilliant novel
The unique female main character is flawed, she's clumsy, babbles when she's nervous and highly intelligent. the world hand her a creapy deal and she out smarts them every time.
this is a reverse harem novel. Each book adds another gorgeous man to her bed. very spicy.

I truly love this series and all of the characters in it. Things really REALLY heat up in this book and some of the relationships between Char and the guys start to develop more. As expected this book was hilarious and never failed to make me laugh as well as cringe in second hand embarrassment. Lots of things were revealed in this book and the ending shook me. Now what are you waiting for... get out of your mailbox, you opossum, and read this fantastic series.

OMG! This book was seriously good! I saw so more maturity from all the characters. Charisma is still a hot mess! But I love that about her. It is her personality and her quirk. She is hilarious and some of things and sayings she comes up with needs to be printed and made into a t-shirt! HAHA!

The plot and tension really was amped up in this book. I was hanging on to the edge of my seat throughout the book. The mystery and the suspense just added more to the book. I did not anticipate that cliffhanger or should I say who was revealed!? OMG! That was a crazy ending, but slightly not surprised when I thought about it and put the pieces together. I started to see the harem build and accept, especially when Charisma got behind "the more males the better" train. But the harem is not complete just yet, read the book and see!

Harem of males: Bast (the necromancer, the first male and the most encouraging and amazing male for Char), Andres (the illusionist, the care free male and serious about being Char and sharing), Blaze (the hot head male, he really really liked Char, but he is having a very hard time about the idea of sharing Char's affection), Theo (the stalker, very possessive male), and Logan (the most powerful, alpha, and dominate male).

It will be super interesting to read the growth and potential progress of Char's harem and affection towards these males. I really hope to see this in the next book!

Their was multiple POVs in this book.
Sexiness: 4.5 out of 5

This review is of my own opinion.

This may be the best book yet! Just as things are finally coming together for Char and her men we get left with that ending. I cannot wait for the next book.

Ugh

Book 3 was almost completely unbearable because of Charisma’s inner monologue.. thankfully this one was slightly more tolerable. I’ve already come this far, might as well finish.

Marginally better than the previous book. But what is with these stupid cliffhanger endings? All of these series books are doing them. The authors should just have faith that their writing is good and not have to resort to these stupid tactics to get people to come back and read the next one. Sometimes it has the opposite effect and makes me stop reading because it’s so annoying.

So Much Better

I liked this installment so much more than book 3. There was a great deal of plot progression as well as relationship development. Char's quirks seemed to be toned down a bit also which made it easier to enjoy her character. That cliffy was a bit brutal. I can't wait for book 5!

I really liked the first three but this book didn’t have much going on. It feels like filler book before the final one when it could’ve just been the final one in the series. I would rather have it end here and have spin-off in the same universe. I’m a little disappointed.

I was happy to see some things speed up in this installment of the Arcane Mage series! Book 2 and 3 had slowed down for me but this one got back on track. We get to see Char with her magic back and creating some awesome METs and helping her potential guys get their tasks/challenges taken care of. I loved seeing her battling too, even if she is “just a Magical Engineer” haha. I thought the snark in this one was on point with the snark in book 1 (book 2 and 3 had less jokes that hit for me). I loved finally seeing some progression in her harem and the fun she was able to have! I love Bast, he is such a rock for Char and Andres is hilarious and like a golden retriever puppy you just can’t stay mad at haha.

I will say I am finally glad Char stopped being so stubborn about Blaze because I couldnt stand the whole thing about being mad at him and not listening to him. I was YEARS ago and it wasnt like he lied to her about it. Ughh so frustrating. But she hears him out, gets the scoop, and also proposes next steps and he can’t get onboard. I know from book 5 that maaaay be changing soon haha but I just want to shake him a little in this one. Like I do appreciate them all not jumping in right away because going from monogamous to poly is not an easy feat/a lot to take in, but he sees how happy she is, and should try it out anyway to see if he can truly do it or not. But more to come in book 5 I hope!

Logan has been an up and down thing for me in this one. From not caring about her to being super connected/drawn to her. I hope he proves himself more because he has a lot of explaining to do mister! I know he has a lot of things to contend with but his pompous attitude and disconnect with people needs to change if he is going to be a part of her harem. I did like the subplot him and Theo took and how they kinda connected. The part with Theo and the spirits was cool, but I sure hope we finally get some answers about the resistance/rebels in book 5 and 6 because we really have gotten nothing in terms of plot development/answers. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the romance and relationship developments but we need a good mix of plot and this one is not coming to the forefront yet and is a little frustrating.

OH and the side characters are interesting too, we get more from Bast’s amazing grandma, loved more of Blair (does she get her own story?? pretty please!) and even the side character villains are good. More to come on that in book 5! I really want to shake Christian though, he is driving me up a wall and I wish Char would stand up more for herself. I know he is trying to protect her but I am done with the way he talks to her/yells at her.

Narration was good like the others. Again these two are not my favorite for dual narration, they would be better just doing duet narrations but I still would give them 4-4.5 stars out of 5 for their performances. You felt the inner turmoil in this one from Char, the desperation from many of the guys. Good job overall, will definitely continue to listen to them in the future.

And that cliffhanger! Not as bad as some of the others in this series but thank goodness all of these are available on audio so I can just breeze though! I knew it was going to come, a lot of the twists/turns in this series are predictable but it didnt take away from the storyline in this case. I already am halfway through book 5 and it gets even better, that’s all I will say!

Frenetic hits the ground running from where Erratic left off and I thought this second to last book in the series had a lot of payoff in terms of what had been building. Charisma actually talks to some of the guys about having multiple love interests and adds to her relationship. We get up close to some of the rebels with a shocking reveal. There are still lots of questions to be answered and relationships to be deepened, but by the end of the book, I could see how the characters and plot are positioned to give us all the things we want. Even with the cliffhanger and danger we're left with. Yeah it's a doozy of a cliffy, but at least book 5 is already up for preorder.

One of the bright spots of the Arcane Mage series has been the humor and overall lightness of the series and there's plenty of both once again. We also get more steam in this book but it's also balanced with more emotional connection. There's a nice amount of action and none of it is Charisma fighting so we have more of the guys doing what they do! It felt like there are more POV chapters from each of the guys, along with Char, so we have the full perspective of what everyone is thinking and experiencing. These are especially helpful since the guys are chasing down various leads while other things are happening. The time we get in Theo's head at the beginning made me feel a lot more sympathetic towards him too.

I'm both very excited for the next (and final) book and wanting to stay in this world longer. From what Ms. Snow has said, there will be future stories in the Arcane Mage world which has me eyeing a couple of characters in Frenetic, wondering about whether we'll get more of them down the road. I'm ready for Char's final showdown though and to see all of these characters get their HEA!

Fun and Light

Book four was a fun and light read. We get a bit of traction with Char's potential harem. We see some growing mystery with the Resistance and a surprise villain steps into the light at the end.

I love the humor in this book and the quirky fmc, but I have a hard time keeping myself focused when reading this and I think that is due to two things. The author uses multiple POVs but her transition timing is jarring. It pulls me out of the story repeatedly. For example, she will be taking us through a tense or important scene from one characters POV, and then before that scene concludes, she starts a new chapter with an entirely different scene happening, and a different character POV. Then a few chapters down you're back with the first scene and POV and you have to try and recall where you left off with them. It's like a bunch of mini cliffhangers throughout the book and it causes me to lose my interest. The story would flow a lot better if she finished a scene to its completion before introducing a new scene and POV.

Separate from that, Char (fmc) has a tendency to ramble, she even acknowledges that she does this. I think we are meant to find it cute or quirky but it is becoming a bit annoying and I just skim those parts.

In any case, when I'm in the mood for a fun, light read, I check to see if the next installment of this series has released because I can count on a dose of good humor and nothing too serious. Sometimes that's what you need!

This series is well written but with each book I find myself closer to quiting instead of eager for the next book.

I am over every. single. book. ending with a cliffhanger. I understand how cliffhangers can serve a purpose but the more they are used, the less value they hold. At this point it just feels like a tactic to force readers to continue to invest in the series but for me, its doing the opposite. It feels like every book is unfinished and why invest in the next book when I know I'll have to wait until the book after it it to get the resolution?

Secondly, if you write or hype a character as the best, you better show it, and not just keep telling me. We are allowed brief, fleeting glimpses at Charisma and the guys abilities but then they go off and fall for easy traps/noob behavior.

Charisma knew within 2 seconds that Logan's Met was his pocketwatch because of her reasoning/observation skills but even though she noted some red flags about her ride, she just shrugged and went with it even though she knows the Resistence is after her? Logan's the scariest, strongest and cleverist and yet is overtaken twice? Its not even just them, all of the heirs and Bast haven't really lived up to the sort of greatness/strength that is supposed to come from being from the strongest, most powerful families.

Its just so frustrating.
