Society of Psychos

Rate this book
I’m the prince of death.

A son of carnage born of wicked deeds and sin-filled nightmares.

Nobody understood me. Until her.

My Spider.

The wild girl I claimed from a sea of violent men. But others want her too…

The enemies who lurk within my walls seek to steal her from my grasp. They’re my captives, but maybe they’re the answer to my greatest fear too. Because the Grim Reaper shadows every move I make, and he’s always watching her.

Perhaps I need a ring of warriors to surround my little psycho and protect her from death’s claws.

Because now she’s stolen my black heart, I can’t fail her like I’ve failed before.

Thank you, Caroline Peckham, Susanne Valenti and, of course, Telisha and Erica for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and left voluntarily.

“Who’s shooting at us?” I asked in confusion as we made it to the stairs.
“Fuck if I know,” Niall growled. “I’ll be sure to ask ‘em when they’re dead though, love.”

Another series has gone and all I can say is that I understand now why hurricanes are named after people; there's no other way to describe Caroline and Susanne after I've just finished another one of their series. Society of Psychos couldn't have been named better; it's intense, coated in madness and full of lust.

》》The Plot《《

With Brooklyn being taken to a new secure location, Mateo and Niall join forces to get her back, only to discover she's no damsel in distress and, even more, they are no longer the only two men who would die for her. Mafia deals, more revenge for Brooklyn's past, a lot of steam and a wedding are just a few of the things fighting for the spotlight in this novel and the ending, as always, will leave you content and yet, wanting more.

“Just some clothes and weapons, things we need if we’re going on the run,” I explained.
“Oh, I don’t really like to run. I prefer to get my cardio from riding huge men.”

It was a page-turner, with fast paced action, priceless comebacks and all the right crazies. The chapters are shared between Brooklyn, Niall, Mateo and Jack (great new addition,  more on him in the Characters and Relationships section), the Epilogue is bitter sweet, in the way you've witnessed in the other series and the spicy time is really really well written.

》》Characters and Relationships《《

🧝🏻‍♂️Angry Jack

“You just killed him with your bare hands, AJ. You’re like a whole mood, aren’t you? All dark and destroying and shit.”

An unexpected and new addition that I can say I've enjoyed very very much. I love discovering his past and Jack was definitely an interesting character who added to the story.

“Has anyone ever told you that you look like The Witcher?”
I hadn’t actually seen The Witcher, but I’d seen pictures of him and I was pretty sure I knew the gist of the show. Man says fuck, man makes witches’ panties melt. Sounded like my kind of show.

Plus, let's be honest, but putting the idea of the Witcher in my head made me picture Henry Cavill in all the right moments, so can we petition to get him the role of AJ if this ever gets turned into a film, pretty please?

👩🏻🧝🏻‍♂️Brooklyn and AJ

“Tell me what you want, Jack,” I breathed.
“You,” Jack answered easily and my life flashed before my eyes.

The two of them were a weirdly good match and I loved how Brooklyn was always so defensive of him, especially in the beginning when both Niall and Mateo didn’t want Jack near her at all. Not to mention how funny it was when Brooklyn was reading his mind.

“I enjoyed watching you come for him,” he whispered, giving me his words through our powerful mind connection. “But I would enjoy it far more if you came for me."

The biggest surprise was AJ's compliance with all the commands he got from Niall and Brooklyn and the fact that he actually seemed to be enjoying them. I was certainly not expecting that.

👩🏻🧔🏼Brooklyn and Niall

"The only girl I care about is you. Even when you piss me off, or drive me to insanity or give my weapons incorrect names, because you are the only person in the world who’s ever made sense to me. The only one who can answer my ramblings with ramblings of her own, the only one who would give a fuck about things that I give a fuck about. Like the fact that sharks have two penises.”

They are a match made in Heaven ...uhm... Hell. They were each other's perfect missing piece and their brand of craziness was unique and either totally childish at times or utterly savage.

"The Devil has nothing on me now, love, because I own his most coveted soul.” He took hold of my throat, smiling at me as a line of blood dripped down his cheek. “And I’m gonna keep ya for the rest of time, Brooklyn.”

From all the banter, to the party were Niall's restraint finally cracked, to the Vegas wedding and even to the moment when Niall understood what Kyan meant when he said he shares Tatum, Brooklyn and Niall had a lot of good moments and they had a lot of focus on their relationship.

🧑🏽‍💼👩🏻Mateo and Brooklyn

“You are the demon, Mateo,” Brooklyn growled, jerking my belt open with such force that she made me stumble. “One summoned straight from hell just for me. I don’t need you to be soft, I don’t need you to be kind, I only need you. All of you. So don’t leave me waiting for you any longer. Don’t keep holding back.”

I would have liked to see more of them togheter. I loved how he always called her 'mi sol', how he ended up opening up for her and learning how to love another human being and I think he needed her a lot, to get over his past suffering.

“You’re a lure set to trap sinners, mi sol,” Mateo said as he shifted to her side. “We were created by a deviant god with nothing but your pleasure in mind. There was never any other fate for you than us.”

》》Conclusion《《

There were a lot of really original things and unexpected scenes and I enjoyed watching these characters form all sorts of bonds between them. It was fun and crazy, fresh and spicy and I am, once again, convinced that I might just read anything written by these two women. One day they might just decide to post their shopping list or soup recipe and I'd still click 'want to read' faster than blinking.

"That made three heathens snapping at her heels and hoping for a taste of her. Question was, what would she do about that hold she had over us?"

Oh, and I definitely enjoyed all the cameos. The chapter in the epilogue with Tatum and Brooklyn surrounded by their men was extremely satisfying. And, not to spoil the fun but, don't you feel like this is foreshadowing for the next Zodiac Academy book???

“Phoenixes can’t be reborn, Hellfire,” she said, clucking her tongue. “Everyone knows that’s nonsense, just like their tears can’t bring people back to life and their farts can’t set things on fire. Those are all just conspiracy theories made up by people who can’t bear the truth.”
“What is the truth, mi sol?” I asked carefully, stepping a little closer.
“That nothing is ever that easy,” she hissed, raising a hand towards the dog while my heart thrashed a million miles a minute.

This book, and duet for that matter, is a big 'ol bowl of coocoo Cocoa Puffs. I don't even know where to begin cause the books and characters are so bizarre, but in a great way. The authors said lets create the most outlandish and bat shit crazy characters, have them do and say the strangest things and then throw all four of them in a relationship together, all the while trying to kill each other.

I have to give the twisted sisters credit with this one, its clear as day they had so much fun writing this duet and these characters. When you can tell the authors had a blast with their creation it makes it all the more fun for the reader as well.

With that being said, I do have to admit I did prefer the first book. It just flowed more smoothly and I liked when it was just Mateo and Niall. Don't get me wrong I liked Jack, but I personally don't think we had enough time with him as a character like we normally do with the MMC's in the authors harems. I think if the sisters had done a harem where a MMC is introduced later then the rest it would have worked more in one of their larger series, so we still had time to get to know him more. But being that it's a duet, we really only get to know Jack through one book and it was more difficult to see him fit with the rest.

This book is filled with off the charts humor, but that's to be expected with the twisted sisters, and while it made the duet what it is in a lot of ways, another large aspect that the sisters are known for (great spice) was severely lacking for me. Especially for how off the wall and unhinged the characters are.

This duet is in the same universe as KOQ and Harlequin Crew and there are some cameo's, but you can definitely read this without having read the others. Though I HIGHLY recommend reading them cause they are phenomenal! While this was a slight miss for me, which pains me to say cause the sisters are some of my favorite authors, I still think this duet is a must read just on the sheer fact alone of the banana's crazy experience it is!

Overall: 4/5
Steam (sexual tension): 3/5
Spice: 3/5

This is the conclusion to Brooklyn and her collected band of psycho’s story and I loved it as much as the first book. This definitely had much more spice and we finally get to consummate and cement this deranged family of oddballs. The heat is on and everyone wants a piece of Brooklyn even if Niall has set himself up as head dick now that definitely made me chuckle.

I was incredibly interested in how this was going to all finally connect the dots as previously everything was still so separate and up in the air in regards to all the males in Brooklyns life and this did a splendid job at accomplishing all of that and I’m completely satisfied with how this all turned out.

Brooklyn is still a complete nut job and she definitely dances to the beat of her own invisible drum and Niall is still the only one who can completely match her in terms of utter fruitcake insanity these two are like peas from the same pod and their minds work along very similar wavelengths.

Mateo is now having to get over and abandon his murderous tendencies towards Niall especially if he wants to keep his girl happy doesn’t mean he has to like it or him though. Niall has an epiphany on how to keep his girl safe coming to the conclusion that her little murder club of psychos idea one’s that are totally devoted to their reigning queen Brooklyn is actually a genius idea and is a win win all around and Angry Jack finally gets some screen time and he’s been holding stuff back he’s not as simple as he makes out hes also another devotee for our reigning psycho queen.

Let’s also not forgot Brooklyn’s new dog Brutus who fits right in with his growly snappy aggressive manner and this band of completely dangerous misfits has just become a family of five. Add in some unique family bonding which usually results in some fun bloody antics all around and Brooklyn never had it so good. There’s murder bloodshed revenge a whole lot of spice and learning to play nice some ridiculous dialogue and observations usually from either Brooklyn or Neill and a whole lot of warm and fuzzies.

I’ve appreciated this duet so much. The complete random insanity of it all just worked for me. I also devoured the epilogues and loved that we got to catch up with Tatum and her boys and the final one well I liked that one the most it was pure genius and had me grinning from ear to ear loved it what a visual. I definitely recommend this duet it’s been a total blast from start to finish.

This was okay but these books aren't as good as other books by the Twisted sisters. You can definitely see that they're twisted from this duology though. However I did love Niall and Brooklyn together and she did have some cute moments with Matteo and Angry Jack. Also I enjoyed the happily ever after as well. RTC.
Society of psychos is the second book in the dead man walking duet. It follows Brooklyn, Niall and Matteo with the new addition of another character, who is called Angry Jack. I definitely didn't predict Angry Jack becoming a part of the story and joining Brooklyn's harem but I didn't mind it. These authors usually introduce all of the love interests for their reverse harems in the first book of each series though so I originally thought that Brooklyn was just going to be with Niall and Matteo. Anyway this book begins after the cliffhanger at the end of The death club. Brooklyn has been taken away in a bus by the employees of the asylum that was just imprisoned along with Angry Jack and the other former patients. Meanwhile Niall and Matteo are chasing the bus in Niall's car as they are both in love with Brooklyn and are desperate to get her back. Eventually they end up causing the bus to crash into a lake and many of the former patients die from this but Brooklyn and Angry Jack survive (though Angry Jack kills a man for previously insulting Brooklyn when they were at the asylum). The pair are soon found by Niall and Matteo. Brooklyn forces Niall and Matteo to accept Angry Jack and let him live with them. The rest of the book follows these characters as they continue to navigate their relationship while they also try to kill each other and kill others.
Couples
Brooklyn and Niall
I really loved them together. These two crazy people belong together. They are the perfect match in so many ways and Niall was my favorite with Brooklyn by far.
Brooklyn and Matteo
They definitely had some cute moments but there wasn't much focus on their relationship and I don't really care about Matteo as a character so I couldn't really connect to them together.
Brooklyn and Angry Jack
They definitely had an interesting relationship but I couldn't really connect to these two together either.
My thoughts
I did like this overall but it definitely isn't as good as other books by these authors.
While reading this I couldn't believe that this was written by the same authors of Zodiac academy, which is one of my favorite series of all time (I know people definitely love or hate that series but I really love it and I will always defend it against criticism even though reading is subjective).
To me it felt so inferior to that series even though I still had an enjoyable reading and listening experience with it. Honestly this series is my least favorite by the Twisted sisters (I didn't get a 4 star in this one because I normally get them while reading a series by them) but I am excited to read the Harlequin Crew series as well as the Beautiful carnage series and Forget me not bombshell (they're the only books I have left by them).

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

Star Rating : 4.5/5 Stars

POV : Multiple

Cliffhanger : None

Hero : Niall , Mateo

Heroine : . Brooklyn

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 5/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Plot Summary :
Brooklyn , Niall and Mateo are back!
With their woman being in danger, Niall and Mateo are finally ready to put their fights aside and go after her. Their hate and bad past was the one thing that kept these two at war all the time but the love of one quirky, unique girl might just unite them at last.

Brooklyn is back to the one place she never wanted to return. Her list of vengeance is almost complete with the exception of a couple of names. That is until she sees her two men, Niall and Mateo coming after her together. With all of them together , they will defeat their enemies at last and there is a chance that their love will push them to be together at last.

Overall Opinion :
OMG. I swear I have been waiting for this one for like a year lmao. The release date kept getting shifted and when I finally had this on my Kindle, I was just so happy!!

The humor in this book is by far the best one in all the books I have ever read. With Brooklyn and Niall being the crazy, unhinged ones with the best phrases ever, they had me rolling in laughter in just a couple of sentences! Mateo and angry jack are more of the broody, hot type and they too had their moments.

I am so happy that the authors decided to make this one a duet and we got another complete series by them. The characters are amazing and so is the storyline.

We also got to see a lot of cameos by the other characters. I hope we get the story of a certain side character because she drove me crazy with that suspense! Another amazing duet by these authors and I hope you all love this as much as me. Definitely recommending this one to all the crazy hero lovers, psycho heroines and reverse harem loving people out there.

So. Much. Love. I love this duet. Here’s the thing. I don’t feel like you go into this looking for an amazing plot. I think what makes this series amazing are the wild chaotic characters and their interactions. Yea, they have wild adventures and there’s bad guy (a couple actually) and vengeance plot, but the best parts are the character development and interactions.

One thing I wish is that we were introduced to AJ earlier. He is a fascinating character and I wanted so much more of him and his absolutely filthy mouth 😂

Well I’m happy I reread this duet. Brooklyn will forever be my favorite FMC. These ladies know how to write some good ladies. And epilogues. 🥵🥵Excellent epilogues 😂😅🥵

DNF @ 30%. While this is turning out to be an interesting RH and I like the psycho guys, I can't be in Brooklyn's head for another minute. She comes off as mentally 12 or 13 (sometimes even younger) and while all the psycho killing works for me, that simply does not. It is too disturbing for me. I keep picturing these guys with a child even though she's supposed to be in her 20's, I believe. I can't go any further with this one.

AMAZING. I loved this duet - 10/10 👏👏👏. What a zany trip - and I loved every moment of it. Perfect ending, too.

This is NOT a serious novel, so if you're going in expecting realistic situations and sane characters, you'll be in for a shock. I'd classify it as over the top dark humor - basically James Gunn's Suicide Squad if it was an erotic romance, centered around Harley Quinn and Joker... if Joker actually loved Harley Quinn and was allowing her to have a harem of other psychos he approves of 👀.

Basic premise of the series is that our crazy (literally) heroine Brooklyn gets kidnapped by a cartel, sold off to perform in a fight ring, and impresses Irish crime lord Niall with her carnage. Niall is a madman, and he buys her to train her as his assistant in killing. Along the story, we meet Mateo, a dangerous Mexican cartel killer for hire, who is kept locked up in Niall's basement because he has secrets Niall wants. Both Niall and Mateo are crazy in their own ways, although Mateo is still saner than Niall and Brooklyn combined. Both of them are also crazy in love with Brooklyn. In this book, a new addition to the reverse harem is added, with Angry Jack being yet another psycho who enters Brooklyn's orbit.

The story continues where the first book left off, with both Niall and Mateo cooperating in order to get their girl back. On Brooklyn's end, we see her gathering another man for her harem, the silent but deadly fellow mental patient, Angry Jack. I'll be honest - it was jarring at first when we suddenly got POV chapters from Angry Jack, because he only showed up at the very end of the first book. I didn't think he was going to be a new addition to the harem. I tend to prefer all the harem members to get introduced within the first book. But I did warm up to him, and he was a different but interesting character.

Our heroine, Brooklyn (aka Brunette Harley Quinn):
Brooklyn is as crazy as ever in this book. I know some people don't really like her and say she's annoying, but I didn't mind her word vomit during her POV chapters. She's obviously cray cray and not too bright, but the authors were definitely going for heavy Harley Quinn vibes. This is probably the only book series I've read that has had a crazy killer heroine that's super sexual and direct, but was still an inexperienced virgin 😂. I thought she had really good chemistry with all the guys, and some of her thoughts were hilarious.

Main husband #1, Niall (aka "Hellfire"):
If Brooklyn is brunette Harley Quinn, Niall is an Irish Joker (who actually loves the heroine). Niall was sexy, hilarious, crazy, and I loved him. He and Brooklyn are perfect for each other and think on the exact same wavelength. It's honestly so sweet how Niall understands exactly how Brooklyn thinks, when everyone else is just confused. He is also the one that bought and saved Brooklyn in the first place, so it makes sense why he's the official husband in the end. I can see how it got annoying with his confusing push / pull, but at least he realized his feelings for Brooklyn right at the start of this book, and once he made a decision to stay with Brooklyn, he went all out (flying her out and tricking her into getting married). I loved his pettiness and crazy jealousy. Poor guy keeps waffling between wanting to kill all the other guys and having Brooklyn to himself and realizing Brooklyn is happier with all three men. By the end, he's just happy to spoil his wife, even at the expense of his own ass virginity 🥰. I also love that the authors took the effort to explain that Niall's true love is Brooklyn - not his original dead wife. She was never the right match for him, and never knew his crazy side.

Husband #2, Mateo (aka "Dead Man"):
Probably the closest thing to a sane person in this story. Mateo was my favorite - he was such a sweetie dreamboat ❤. He kept talking about the "darkness" in him and how he has violent sex and keeps killing his bed partners accidentally, and worrying about doing that to his "innocent sunshine" Brooklyn... meanwhile I'm here like, "are you kidding? Brooklyn literally gets off on being tasered and violently fighting. She wants to have violent sex with you." 😂 Mateo was so romantic and gentle, yet also dominating when he needs to be. I felt so bad for him when Niall would take out his anger and jealousy on him. I'm honestly surprised he's still alive and kicking for how many times he got tazed or shocked. At least he's the one that ended up fathering Brooklyn's baby - this cinammonroll deserves some loving 🥰.

Husband #3, Angry Jack (aka the Witcher):
I didn't really get as good of a grip on his personality compared to the other two, considering he came in starting from the second novel. I would've really preferred if we could have seen more of his and Brooklyn's meeting or history together. As it is, we're only told that he fell in love with her during her stay at the mental asylum. He still did have a distinct personality from the other two, although he was closer to being like Mateo (gentle and obsessed with Brooklyn and slightly more sane compared to Niall). I like that despite being an actual patient in the asylum, he's the smartest and most scheming one out of the harem. He just sees no reason to reveal his intelligence. Also, thank you authors for providing the delicious mental imagery of describing him to look like The Witcher. Definitely needed that inspiration when imagining him 👏. My man also scores an A+ with the dirty talk - especially when he's whispering to Brooklyn with no one else able to hear 🥵.

All in all, this was a highly entertaining read and the sex scenes were hot hot hot 🔥 🔥 . The ending was great, and I appreciated that the authors gave several epilogues to show updates on how the relationships were going and that they really did have their HEA. I love that, despite being a reverse harem, each guy had their unique and distinct personality, and I enjoyed reading each one's POV. All of them had convincing reasons for loving Brooklyn and only her - it would never work with any other girl. Brooklyn is definitely unique enough that they wouldn't be able to find another 😂. The authors put in a lot of effort to find a way for it to work out in a reverse harem (Niall getting intrigued when finding out his nephew has a reverse harem arrangement too). It still felt a bit clunky, especially considering that all the guys are psychos that want to kill each other. But by the end, it seemed convincing enough that they share and are happy together.

Safety:
* Heroine is a virgin, surprisingly 🤣. Literally everyone is shook by this, and Niall goes into a mental breakdown thinking he corrupted her after they first have sex. Brooklyn on the other hand is annoyed everyone is treating her with kid gloves when she's very open about wanting sex.
* Niall and Mateo are not virgins. Niall was married before, and has been celibate for many, many years ever since his wife died. Mateo has never been in a relationship or kissed, but has had many bed partners whom he accidentally killed during violent sex with them. I'm not sure about Angry Jack and whether he is experienced or not.
* No cheating from any of them. Slight OW drama with Niall being engaged to an arranged mafia daughter, but he is disgusted by her and has no desire for her.
* HEA with baby and epilogues.

I received this book as an ARC from the authors in exchange for a review.

Although I love thrillers and serial killers usually, this book duo was not really my jam. What I did like about it was the wild ride the authors take you on. You literally have no idea what’s going to happen next. The main character, and the center of the reverse harem, Brooklyn, is so crazy that she’s actually really funny. I think it’s more the guys that creeped me out a little. She was also kidnapped and sold multiple times (this isn’t a spoiler- it’s in the book description) and it just didn’t sit well for me personally.

I love the way Caroline and Susanne write. It’s so easy to read their books. Everything flows. There’s humor. There’s chaos. There’s spice. It’s fresh and new and I’ve never read anything like it for sure. But for me, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for book 8 of Zodiac Academy and book 4 of Darkmore Penitentiary. Those are their series that made me fall in love with them. So I highly recommend them in that aspect.

I find myself not able to give this a rating because there are so many good things about it but it’s not a book I enjoyed so how can I fairly rate it? Do I rate the writing, creativity, and humor which is so great? Or the storyline that didn’t work for me?

If you really like the way dark romance stuff, this book is for you for sure.

Society of Psychos is the second, and I believe, final installment within the Dead Men Walking series. It's weird that I love crazy reverse harem books but for some reason this fell flat. Seriously, the crazier the better. So, it's pretty weird that it took me a while to get into this one. Each book had its pros and cons, but the best thing (for me) was the overall bantering between the characters.

Other than that, I really wanted to know the characters a bit more. Don't get me wrong, I love smutty scenes and trust me these characters didn't hold back. It's just... for some odd reason the balance felt off within this harem. Sometimes that happens and you can't do anything about it. Typically, that's usually a thing in longer series. So, it's a little weird that I felt that with this duet.

Again, it could just be me being in a funky mood with this. Still, the ending was pretty good and I'm so happy that they are all happy. Definitely laughed over the epilogues and I seriously need to finish that other series of Caroline's.

I was so sad when I saw this would be the last book of the series. I wanted to take my time reading this book because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. This is my favorite series by these authors. I became obsessed with Brooklyn in just the first chapter of Death Club and it’s been growing stronger since. She’s legit my spirit animal. This book may be the end but it definitely went out with a bang. So many storylines getting answers and being wrapped up but even with everything going on we get tons of laughs and so serious steam.

Brooklyn and her guys are back and have a new member to add to their club of psychos. Angry Jack was such a great addition to the story. I loved how he only opened up to Brooklyn and you could see how much he cared for her. Oh and we get a cute puppy added to the family! Well, Brutus is kinda mean and likes to be snappy and bitey a lot but he is perfect for the Club of Death. I was happy with how Niall and Mateo’s relationship ended up. I’m glad after everything they didn’t just magically become bffs but also were able to come to an agreement because of their girl. It just shows even the craziest of characters can make exceptions for that special someone. Brooklyn was obviously the star of the show and there was never a dull moment with her. I loved her and Niall's bickering and her translations of what Mateo is saying. Then we are gifted her mind-reading ability with Angry Jack which further shows how much of a genius she is.

I loved not only seeing the names on Brooklyn’s rock list be crossed off throughout the book but seeing how the SoP comes together to help her achieve her mission. I also liked that we got more information on Mateo and Jack. Niall finally gets some of his own happiness and freedom which was amazing since my heart went out to him since he was introduced in the KoQ series. In the end, as much as I will miss Brooklyn with a B and her Muscle Men, I am really happy with how it ended. Especially the epilogue and seeing after years they are all still the crazy characters I love.

I received an arc of this in exchange for an honest review.

I’m going to be honest, I had not read the first book when I signed up on facebook to read an arc of this. I most likely would not have continued the series if I did not owe a review.

I truly loved zodiac academy. I loved that series with my entire heart which is why I was so excited to pick up another short series from the same authors, but unfortunately this duology just did not work for me.

I found Brooklyn to be really immature. It made it really difficult for me to read about her being with these guys because she came off really childlike. Granted the guys also were pretty immature, but they never felt like children. Brooklyn felt like a fourteen year old Harley Quinn obsessed with cereal. Due to this it made it so hard for me to see why these hardcore cartel/gang killers would be so enchanted by her so the relationships were just hard for me to root for.

I will say I enjoyed the sequel more than the first book as it was nice to see everyone getting along (to the best of their abilities lol). However, I just did not connect with any of the characters (specifically Brooklyn who everything revolved around) which made this really tough to get through.

These authors don’t miss. Another incredible ride with truly crazy characters! I didn’t want to put the book down and that ending!!!! Niall already had my heart in book 1, book 2 solidified him as one of my forever book boyfriends, but let’s not forget this is a reverse harem. *side grin*

If you are questioning if you should grab this duet, DO IT! You won’t regret it!

4.5 stars!

This finale was everything you'd hope it would be and even more twisted. It had Caroline and Susanne's signature humor and steam along with a few cameos by some KOQ and Harlequin crew characters, which I always love to see. It's nice to have another series wrapped up by the dynamic duo, and I can't wait to see what they create next! ♡

*ARC provided by the authors, and I voluntarily reviewed it*

This duology was so amazing I wish I could go back and reread it all over again for the first time. From the literally insane characters to the chaotic harem heroine Brooklyn is creating, the drama is nothing but fun and wild. We get the third to the harem early in this book and it doesn’t take much time for him to fit right in. Would I want to meet this characters in real life, abso-fucking-lutely NOT but in my fiction I devour their stories like a fixated junkie. Brooklyns neurotic mind and chaotic thoughts are so many things at once. It makes me feel for her because she seems so young at times and all alone in a world that cares little for her. Then again I have to laugh out loud like a loon because she’s brighter in the ways that work for her than other people are even if her skills revolve around murder and mayhem. Semantics lol. It’s clear she really does have ‘issues’ but fits into this shit world in the only way she can. She makes the world work for her however she needs to and I absolutely love and appreciate that for her even if I’m a little jealous and wish I could be lost in my own mind more escaping the reality of the real world. It’s crazy to think that without her men, her being out in the world would most likely leave her barely able to function and it’s clear how much they all need one another. It’s surprising to me she actually managed to stay free, alive and on her own for a year actually. Her tale also ironically brings up how shitty mental health care of any kind is in the US 😢

Once again much of the story takes place in one setting but there are quite a few more trips outside the house this time around. Brooklyn and her men are working on tracking down her enemies so they can meet up for a nice tea time….. hell who am I kidding, it’ll be a bloody brutal time and limbs will literally be flying in no time. We get an amazing epilogue that wraps this series up beautifully though I honestly wish I could have gotten more of these characters through the years, lord knows considering the situations they always find themselves in.
Not only do these authors write phenomenal stories, somehow it doesn’t matter who or what they’re writing about because it always comes out like gold. I’ve yet to not enjoy something they’ve written and at the same time so glad I waited to the end because they are the brutal queens of cliffhangers. For those who’ve read the Harlequin series or Zodiac academy, there’s some crossovers that I’m sure will have u missing old friends and enemies.

2023 REVIEW
When Brooklyn's entourage goes from 2 to 4 the world better watch out. With a deadly dog and three deadly men, Brooklyn is unstoppable. With the help of her guys Brooklyn works to take out all the baddies on her rock of death. One by one her enemies fall and she only gets more bloodthirsty as time goes on. In a way it's so good the gang has so many multi faceted traits as everyone contributes in their own way even if most are bloody. The banter continues as do Brooklyn's shenanigans and wild thoughts. I was honestly devastated when I finished this and already can't wait to read it again. The ending was better than the first time with a glimpse into their lives over the years including the rebirth of their bitey pup. LOOOOOOVE this duet!

The Twisted Sisters have done it again! And, boy did they earn that honorific with this one.

With the way the previous book in the Duet, The Death Club, left off the authors had a lot of ground to cover, but they delivered.

Society of Psychos is a totally zany exploration of how each of the characters both feeds and soothes the darkness of the others. We get to learn a lot more about characters we met in the previous book and I adore the new addition. You'll like him when he's Angry!

I have a deep affection for these characters and how unpretentious and unpredictable they are.

I'll admit I was initially worried that a cookie cutter HEA might be forced on this lot. But, rest assured, even the unconventional Society of Psych0s get their HEA. But you'll be delighted to know it's one that matches their unconventional love story.

I totally recommend reading The Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep AKA Kings of Quarantine, as the Dead Men Walking Duet characters come from those books. The Harlequin Crew Series is also set in the same world, named the United States if Anarchy, and there are significant character crossovers between the three seies.

Check triggers, as this is a Dark romance!

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC.

These sisters know how to write a captivating story and spice!!

This book gives me all the Harley Quinn/Joker vibes (which I LOVE)
The characters in the duet are easy to fall for.
Brooklyn is honestly my favorite. I love her innocent nature but then she can turn crazy in a blink of an eye. It doesn’t matter what this girl does I love her. She somehow steals your heart and you can’t help but be captivated.

You cannot go wrong with ANYTHING written by these authors. The stories are diverse and suck you in right from the beginning of the story. One thing I truly appreciate is how different their characters are in each book and yet you end up always loving every single one!

Ngl, but this duet wasn't the most gripping I've read by the sisters thus far. It really paled in comparison to FMNB and some of their other books. But it was still enjoyable because of the fucked up sense of humor and the number of crackheads in this story lol. I feel like I've gone insane myself after reading it lmaoooooo😂💀

Hmmm... entertaining

I loved it yet it annoyed me in parts, too.
Brooklyn seemed mighty immature, given her age.
I loved the Carmen twist, and would have loved to have seen Brooklyn and Carmen get to interact a bit.

"I'll call you an ambulance."

Probably the best line of the book. Brooklyn still makes me thing of Harley Quinn with the crazy, but I'm glad it all worked out in the, ahem, end

Caroline and Susanne have outdone themselves! This book was everything I wanted it to be and more. I had little to no predictions for this book, because let's face it, the twisted sisters always know how to surprise us and keep us on the edge of our seats, no matter the book. This was the perfect continuation and conclusion to Brooklyn and her men's story. Only the C&S would be able to write a book about a band of psychotic misfit serial killers and make it so perfectly comedic, while also having just the right amount of darkness. I have absolutely fallen for each of the main characters over the course of their duet, but Brooklyn herself is definitely one of my favorite FMCs that the sister have ever written. 10/10 would recommend.

✨Book review✨

Society of Pyschos by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti

It should not be shocking at all to realize that I am obsessed with these sisters and their books! The worlds that they have created are phenomenal and I cannot get enough! They have created another dark masterpiece that I just absolutely love!

Brooklyn continues to unapologetically remain true to herself! I love it! She’s so completely hilarious and I absolutely love her inner monologue!

Niall is the perfect match for Brooklyn but she does need someone or someones to ground her and Matteo and AJ fit that role perfectly! The spice in this book was honesty amazingly well done and wow! Just mind blowing! The perfect combination of dark humor, craziness and hot scenes!!

Also can I just say that these sisters have some of the very best endings to series! And, obviously this series did not disappoint with that! This is the perfect ending for them but I am happy that we have at least one more book in the United States of Anarchy!

Quite disappointed to be honest. I skimmed about 60% as it became quite repetitive and I was so tempted to DNF which I rarely do.
Brooklyn was so funny in the 1st book of this duet. I do not know what happened in the second book but jeezo… did someone drop her on her head? She went from a cool Harley Quinn type character to a really needy, immature and rather stupid little girl. Albeit a stabby little girl. For example, she goes to the ocean & these are her exact words, “We played splashy-kicky-swimmy” (shoot me now 🤦‍♀️)
Too many times the authors tried to make her sound cute by jumbling up her words or well known phases; it just made her sound ridiculous which got so bloody boring. The authors really dumbed her down which was so frustrating. The second book really mirrored the 1st book with the whole captive, shock collars, the guys hating each other, Niall acting like a psychotic “Alpha” & the two other guys allowing it after all he had done to them. 🤷‍♀️ The majority of the book focused on them in Mateos safe house where Niall was king dick!! I’m not sure why coco pops became a big focus in this story?? I’d like to hear more about Nialls family & the russian family that Niall was supposed to marry into. Oh, and Jacks back story instead of the wee snippets but Noooooo!!!! The authors thought putting all their energy into chapters that contained coco pops & putting shock collars on everyone was completely necessary.
With all that male testosterone I can’t believe the smut was few & far between until the very end.

I've come to the conclusion that there isn't a thing that these two sisters can write that I will not like. Seriously! They amaze me over and over and over again.

Society of Psychos is the last book in the Dead Men Walking Duology, and it is so freaking fantastic. I really hate saying bye to any characters, but I'm really going to miss these little psychotic fucks...especially Niall.

SoP has everything that I have come to expect from Peckham and Valenti; a good story line, great characters, humorous moments, touching moments, make you completely rage out moments, make you hot under the collar moments, and an overall really good time. For those of you that love contemporary RH books, then I recommend this series. For those that love psychotic men in their RH books, then I HIGHLY recommend this series. Diesel has some competition in Niall, and I am HERE FOR IT!

Best. Ending. EVER

What a series! Brooklyn is by far my favorite character EVER. Niall is the perfect psycho to help her blossom and help Glenda spread her wings. Mateo is the voice of reason with his own demons, and AJ is the shockingly submissive giant that rounds out the perfect RH. BRUTUSSSSSSSS!!! I love that boy, and all his snappies. I love the twisted sisters and I am so beyond in love with this series. 10/5⭐️, recommend to EVERYONE!

Never did I think a book would make me want a duck named Wanda in my chest or an emotional support coconut, but here we are!

While the first book took me a bit to get into, this one hit the ground running and never looked back. While I didn’t think the climax of the story was all that climactic, the extended glimpses into the future at the end more than made up for it.

I love Brooklyn and her rag tag team of psychos that adore her!

I just couldn’t bring myself to care about the characters enough to continue.

***Update: I enjoyed it. But it’s not the best book.
