A blizzard, a completely bare man with the body of a god bleeding in your back yard…wait, what?
After waking up to one of the worst snow storms his state has seen in years, Julian Warren expects to see a news report about business and school closures, not the earthshattering news of a mysterious island appearing in the Atlantic seemingly overnight and footage of what looks like a dragon straight out of myth circling said island. Adding to the madness, when a crash in his back yard leads Julian to discover a gorgeous man without a stitch on, bleeding, and with steam rising from his skin, he finds that he suddenly has an injured dragon shifter in need of shelter and care. The problem? Hiding the dragon’s existence from a government currently freaking out about dragon sightings compounded by a mountain suddenly appearing in Julian’s city would likely lead to a life sentence in prison.
Oh, and Julian just may have a teensy crush on his unwitting guest that he thinks would never in a million years be reciprocated…
Crashing hard into a cold sea of white is definitely not dragon shifter Sevek’s finest moment. Finding himself at the mercy of a Terran man within a world that has been slowly bleeding into his own for centuries, one his king’s scholars had been warning him to not get too close to is even worse. Sevek’s only priority should be to find a way back to his people without revealing his true nature to the Terrans, yet he can’t ignore the desires Julian awakens within him, desires he hasn’t felt in years. Courting a mate that could betray him to the Terran military at any moment is beyond stupid, but it could be equally stupid to pass up the gift of a mate fate has offered them both.
Can a dragon and a human make a relationship work, or will the fear of an uncertain future for both Sevek and the human world at large tear them apart?
This is a complete m/m paranormal romance story with a HEA. It contains several scorching-hot scenes and mature language.

Kind of fun and entertaining, but pretty surface-level as far as romances go.
I did mostly enjoy it, but ended up skimming over a lot of the steam.
I might pick up the other 2 M/M stories in the series, if I run out of other things to read, but I don't really feel the need to immediately read them.

Imagine you're a guy somewhere near Dallas and your brother is calling you while there's the blizzard of the century outside. Imagine further there's suddenly the breaking news on TV about a new island next to England and while social media explodes about Atlantis and the Apocalypse a video is showing vague buildings and grainy pictures of dragons in the air above said island. You're still talking with your concerned brother as there is new mountain reported in Canada. Government shuts down all information and the US declares martial law after another mountain appears out of nothing near your place.
My Fallen Dragon has such a great start and shows the nervousness and agitation of that call. The situation always limited on what can be seen on the TV and on social media. The world as you know it seems to change at the very second but you don't know how much it really concerns you until the very moment you hear a crash outside and you'll find a naked, unconscious guy in your backyard, steam is rising around him and the snow is spattered with blood.
Would you call the authorities, tell your brother about the incident? Julian, who read too many fantasy novels and saw too many thriller shows, decides to get the guy inside, see what he can do. The intimate play that follows where empathy struggles with wariness and suspicion with attraction, is quite good and made me hope the other finds a balance between the rules of a paranormal romance and the reality of something world crashing. Maybe it would have worked if we only got Julian's view but we don't. Suddenly it's more about their attraction, about mates and sex. For a paranormal romance it's still nice but much too fast and I missed some more world building. There are only bits and pieces which didn't make a complete or satisfying picture and the ending is awfully rushed, like stepping into the epilogue while the story is still evolving.
Life is too short! Can't gel with the writing style. The first 9% which is as far as I got is all told via phone conversation between two brothers, discussing breaking news and social media reporting. There was a bit of Dragon perspective but I was skimming so much already it doesn't seem worth wading on. Wasn't feeling the characters, situation, reactions ..or anything. The style makes me think the story will be all social media dictated instead of in the moment feelings.
It was almost a writing exercise, the author stuck with how to convey world build and deciding via phone calls. It's clumsy and doesn't work.
Lost interest before the Dragon landed or they met.
I loved this book! I love portal fantasies and this one has the added bonus of gorgeous dragon shifters and an insecure but lovable young schoolteacher. Sevek was just the type of patient, take charge lover that Julian needed. I also really liked Julian's relationship with his brother. Can't wait to read Nolan's story next!
DNF @ 35% For a book with mountains and islands appearing out of nowhere and dragon-men falling out of the sky, this is surprisingly boring. The pacing and writing really isn't doing it for me.
Julian and Sevek were wonderful characters and I really enjoyed their fantastical story but I was with the feeling that there was parts of the backstory covered in other books. That issue aside I am looking forward to reading more in the series.

A really great opener to a series! It approaches the paranormal in a very interesting real world way and has a romance with unexpected turns and surprising direction!
Julian is just a normal school teacher who is a bit freaked out by the sudden news that there are odd changes in the world and possibly......dragons? When a land mass appears near his town and puts the whole town on military lockdown at the same time that the blizzard of the century blows in he knows he has to hunker down. But suddenly he find a man in his backyard who appears to have fallen from the sky and has skin like fire. Julian realizes that his connection to this dragon phenomenon may have just become more personal.
Sevek has always been curious about the human world that could be seen through the veil, suddenly being thrust into it was unexpected and almost quite deadly. Sevek knows enough about humans to know he must hide his true nature and he works to heal so he can leave Julian without revealing too much. The blizzard continues to real havoc though and the military has a close watch on the town, leaving the two men to lean on each other more than they expected.
While ideally it would be nice to think that humanity wouldn't immediately react with violence towards the unknown, we have a clear history that says otherwise. The fact that the first impulse is to bring in the military and attack the new land masses is sad but felt true to life. It also brings up Julian's choice very clearly. Hiding and helping Sevek puts his own life at risk, but as the man is no threat turning him in would be worse as the government would likely experiment and torture the dragon. Just a real life decision about the situation was sad to think about, but very true to life. It also made the twists that th e relationship took very realistic as there were major factors working to keep these two apart and it would not likely be a smooth path forward.
An opener that presents a fascinating new world while starting small with the option to expand, this promises to be an interesting new series!
The beginning was very interesting and completely sucked me in. However, nothing major happened until about 3/4 of the way through. When it did happen, everything was super rushed.
The relationship between Julian and Sevek was also super rushed and I'm never a fan of insta-love, so that kinda turned me off. I felt no connection between the two MCs due to the rushed nature. One minute (I think your attractive) and the next day, bam we're in love even we know nothing about one another and have literally spent a few days together.
Not a huge fan of dragons, but hey, I knew this was a dragon book so can't really fault the novel for that, right? The concept was super interesting. I did feel like there was maybe more information presented than I really needed and some of the interactions between Sev and Julian were.. uh.. cheesy? But all in all, not a bad book. If dragon-shifters are your thing, you should definitely check this one out.
Good book. I will say this is kinda insta love. I wasn’t ready for that. I liked the story, I wanted more. I wasn’t feeling their connection. The emotions behind their love. I think because it happened so quickly was why. I also want more of the feelings that were happening when they were apart, and how they finally got back together. It seemed a little rushed. The smexy was ok, but come on it’s Dragon smexy times. I need more with that. Ok book if you want a light dragon romance
What would you do if mountains, islands, and dragons just appeared? I found parts of this totally plausible even if others were not. It was fun, I liked the bit of danger and suspense. I could see this as a movie.
Sevek and Julian are absolutely perfect together! The dynamics in this book are so good and absolutely worth the read! I cannot wait to read the rest of the series!!
A great little read This was a really slow burn for me I struggled with at the beginning but I kept at it and I’m so glad I did because it wasn’t long until the story really took off. Julian was stuck at home due to a snow blizzard he was a teacher and he didn’t mind the day off school. But then things started to happen around the world a new island appeared close to the UK and now there were mountains appearing in the USA. Julian lived in Dallas and low and behold a mountain appeared nobody knew what was really going on. There was alarms going off everywhere telling people to stay indoors. And there was video evidence of dragons flying about. When he heard a bang outside he thought a tree had come down but what he wasn’t prepared for was a naked man to be laying unconscious in the middle of snow. It was obviously He was hurt and Julian dragged him in side. Sevek didn’t know what happened one minute he was in his dragon form doing his patrols around the palace and the next thing he knows he’s waking up in a weird building and a human staring down at him. He didn’t feel threatened and he knew he was badly injured but he knew if he did his Dragon fire, he would be healed But he didn’t want to human to see. Would Sevek tell Julian about himself and where he comes from or will he try to hide it?? Will Julian feel safe enough to let Sevek stay and heal?? And what would happen when they spent time together?? I can tell you right now what would happen when they spend time together!! the chemistry was off the charts and there was just something very magical about them together. I really liked Sevek ,Julian and Julian's brother who we will be hearing from in the next book. Really looking forward to this series. This is the first book that I read by C.G. Rayne And I will be looking forward to reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed this book. All sorts of crazy things were happening and Julian ends up getting caught up in everything. Julian was pretty much drooling over Sevak including all the naughty bits lol - I couldn’t blame him either, I’d be doing the same thing.
Julian and Sevak had to learn to trust each other. Both had things to fear and lose yet neither backed away from doing the right thing. These two had explosive chemistry and their connection became stronger the more determined they became to protect each other.
This book did drag in places especially, the beginning but I still enjoyed it. The ending felt overly rushed as opposed, the rest of the story.
Julian was close to his brother and I enjoyed their daily interactions. His brother’s book is next and I’m looking forward to reading his story.

I feel like something was attempted here: Fantasy striking in the contemporary world Fated mates Adventure and moments of anxiety standing off with the government
nothing worked The beginning was way too slow like the first 50 pages should have been fifteen The mates and love was from 0 to I’ll go to prison for you and never see you again The whole adventure aspect was boring and poorly executed
In addition there’s this whole backstory with some kind of princess and dragon prince which is heavily hinted at so if you haven’t read that you’re missing a vital background world building aspect
The couple of sex scenes were very hot and I love dragons so those were the redeeming qualities
How do you say “absurdly disappointing” in Draknos? I love a good dragon shifter romance; especially when it does not contain mpreg. So I was more than disappointed when the level of ridiculousness just overwhelmed this story, to the point where I was left wondering if the author had any understanding of US geography or government.
The story opens with a major blizzard in Dallas, Texas. And according to the narrative, it appeared to be a normal occurrance. Dallas may get the occassional snowfall, but regular blizzards? And then, poof, all the snow is gone!
Ok, I can suspend geographical reality for the sake of the story, but then it turns to Congress declaring martial law; for just North Point. Martial law is not something Congress has any power to declare. That would be the President with the backing of the military, and would effectively end the existence of the US as a democracy. So the citizenry would remain silent for martial law, but “would eat the President alive” if soldiers searched people’s homes?
And then the romance begins and Julian and Sevek get down and dirty. It’s here we find out that, while Julian has had boyfriends and has had penetrative sex, he has never given or received a bj! This is more of a suspension of belief than the whole martial law bit.
But wait! It gets even better. Julian gets arrested and is told he will be court-martialed and will likely serve “hard time.” Oh wow. Who knew you could court-martial a civilian?
Now normally, all this foolishness would be nothing more than a distraction. But in this case, it is so central to the plot, that it can’t be ignored. And that is why this whole thing just completely fell apart for me.

I did like the story, but it was a weird mix of first book and continuation of a series. Although this is the first book of the series, there are enough hints that this is a spin-off of something else. I didn't feel lost exactly, but I still felt like I was missing something. I think this may be a spin-off from another of the author's pen names, but I'm not sure.
I thought the bleed through of the two worlds was interesting concept and I'm assuming that we'll see more of that fall-out in future books. I thought that Julian held up well emotionally given all the things thrown his way. I really did like Sevek, he was just different enough you can believe he's from a different world, but familiar enough not to seem to strange to fall for a human so quickly. There was a bit of slow-burn to the story, but it was good to see the characters build a rapport before the relationship started. But still they fell for each other rather fast.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this series continues.
When fantasies are real. Julian and his brother Nolan were tracking an unexpected mythical event on the other side of the world, while they were waiting out a snow storm. An island had mysteriously arisen from the sea and a group of dragons were floating above. Most thought it was a visual trick. Then a mountain suddenly appeared, in the North in Quebek. Sevek, of the dragon klan is feeling tempted because he is getting closer to the terran world, he is not normally able to get close to until he crash lands in the snow. The world establishment immediately goes into 'manage' mode while social media goes into speculation mode. Julian finds Sevek in his yard and takes him for medical help. It takes a while for Sevek to grasp, he's not in Kansas any more. Will Sevek be able to draw on his dragon form? Will the military be looking for him? Will Julian protect Sevek? Will there be any repercussions for Julian? Are they mates? Will Sevek be able to go home again? Nice set up for future story lines.. I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was actually a really good book. I was able to follow along even as characters were introduced. It may have been a spinoff of another series, but I didn't even notice it as I dug into the plot to see what happened next. Julian is a teacher and gets stuck at home during a severe blizzard. The news comes on and everyone's world comes crashing down including Julian's. An Island and two mountains that appear suddenly in Europe, Colorado and then Julian's hometown in Texas near Dallas. His brother, Nolan is his protector and wants to come and get Julian, but the US government shuts his town down and starts Martial law and quarantine. Sevek drops naked into his back yard, severely injured and Julian drags him into the house despite knowing he could get into serious trouble with the military. Love sprouts, and the two make a connection that is permanent. Now how are they going to escape back to Sevek's home, the mountain that landed in Julian's town. Danger and suspense, magic and dragons leaves us with a story that I found very entertaining.
This was some of the most ridiculously simplistic writing I’ve ever read. The storyline is nonsensical with little to no lead in for any of the actions and events. The author displays a complete lack of understanding for police behavior, military procedures or even basic social norms. There is no character development, and no plot development. Events just happen on an unplanned timeline, many with no connected or dependent actions. There no explanation for any of the majik, no definition of shifter abilities, and too many other plot holes to enumerate.
I kept reading thinking it can’t always be this bad, it has got to get better, surely this can’t be all there is … and then when I decided it was and I should just quit, I found I was nearly to the end. To quote from Shakespeare’s Macbeth: “We are in blood stepped in so far that to return were as tedious as to go o’er.” So like Macbeth, I finished it. ‘Tis 2 hours of my life I shall ne’er see again.
Julian and Sevek were an adorable couple. Sevek especially made assumptions about humans that slowed things down until he got to know Julian and they started to trust each other. Their chemistry was good – of course I’m of the firm opinion that dragons are easy to love. (It’s just the taming that takes a long time.) Now Julian has to make sure Sevek is safe from the government, and hiding a dragon is very challenging. And Sevek will no doubt be feeling protective of Julian.
I enjoyed the story line which was a little choppy but still fun. The visual of a dragon crashing into the back yard like that was great! I liked the characters very much and look forward to sticking with this series. Grab your copy and see if a relationship is meant to be or not. And find out what the future holds for these two.
This book started a little slow for me, and I agree with some other reviewers that it didn't feel like the first book in a series/world, but I really liked the story and the MCs. It was amusing to imagine a dragon getting too close to another world and crashing into it. Oops. (I would expect dragons to have more grace. LOL) It was fun and entertaining to see Julian and Sevek get to know each other, and I enjoyed the chemistry that formed. I am intrigued and eager to see what happens next in the series and whether humans/Terrans will come to accept and live in peace with dragons.

The beginning of My Fallen Dragon sucked me in right away. It reads like the beginning of an apocalyptic story but thankfully for the humans in the world C.G. Rayne created it is something much more fun, dragons! Julian and Sevek really captured my heart and I liked how the angst was mainly from outside forces and not between the main characters. I could see how some would not like the speed in which the Julian and Sevek fell in love but I loved it. There is a bit of a time jump near the end that made me so sad but I don’t want to go into too much detail to avoid spoilers. This was a magnificent start to a new series that has a rich and full lore to pull from.
CG Rayne is a new author for me and, after reading My Fallen Dragon, is now a must-read author.
The world building is detailed in this first in the series, but also gives hints of more to come in later books. This is a new take on dragons and I look forward to learning more about them and their culture as the series progresses.
Julian, an elementary teacher, is a text book nerd and dragon fanboy who gets the surprise of a lifetime when Sevek falls into his yard during a snowstorm.
I loved both the MCs and also liked Nolan, Julian’s brother, who will be an MC in book 2. Looking forward to more!
This was a good book. An island suddenly appears off the coast of England and a mountain appears in Dallas. Julian is a school teacher the break because of a snowstorm in Dallas. He and his brother don’t really pay attention to the sighting of dragon elsewhere. Of course Julian did not expect the the one t that crashed in his back head to be a nude man. Enter, Sevek, a dragon shifter from another world. Julian knows what the government would to to Sevek if they find him. So the two come up with a plan to get Sevek home, but things don’t as planned. I am going to purchase the second book in this series today.
Dragons. Love dragons. While looking thru books online, I saw this one and figured I'd try it out. Really enjoyed this one. Like the way the MC's were introduced, certainly different from other ones I've read. And will probably read the next one in the series because it was just a fun read. Now the government/army trying to bomb the shield around the mountain/castle was a bit much but other than that it wasn't bad. I mean really, you couldn't figure out after a few that this wasn't going to work? But yea, it's a story. I never understood why you have to shoot first and ask questions later :) So I'll try out the next to see what happens.
