Can the good girl and the bad boy really be destined for love?
Declan
Everything about Declan Murphy screamed bad boy. He didn’t just look the part, he owned it with his tattoos, cut up knuckles, and that scar in his eyebrow he refuses to talk about.
After spending a night with the ultimate ‘good girl,’ he can’t seem to forget about her. Six months later, the woman he’d dubbed princess re-appears and while he’s no good for her, he can’t stay away.
This New York City fireman works out his frustrations by fighting in the MMA cage, but when he finds himself in the fire after a fight goes wrong, his princess gets caught in the crosshairs and he’ll do anything to protect her.
Gwen
Gwendolyn Roth has always been a good girl. As the heiress to her family’s billion-dollar real estate fortune, she’d never questioned the expectations she must uphold...until she’d found herself in bed with Declan Murphy for her one and only one night stand.
They have no business being together, but the heart wants what the heart wants...though, that doesn't mean they can have it.
Declan and Gwen will steam up the pages while also proving that love can be found with the most unlikely person...even if there are forces determined to keep them apart.

Here's a preview of Declan & Gwen's love story: When I ’d gotten to the resort, I’d scouted out a few options that I’d planned on pursuing, but that had been before I’d seen her. She’d waltzed onto the patio where the ceremony rehearsal had been held, looking uptight as fuck in her black and white pinstripe pant suit clutching an iPad, but when I’d caught sight of the iconic red soles on her black high heels, my interest had piqued. Not a blond hair had been out of place in the sophisticated looking bun atop her head and her makeup had been flawless. While she’d been busy doing whatever wedding planners do, I’d been busy watching her. She’d commanded the scene and I’d immediately deduced that she was wound up like a fucking toy.
Yes, she was perfect. I’d convince her to let her hair down and get her to release all of that pent up tension that clutched her shoulders, pinning them back super-humanly straight. I’d spent all of the previous night, studying her from a distance trying to figure out what made her confidence peak (giving her staff tasks); what made her smile (watching the couple be all cute and coupley); what made her brow furrow (the servers bringing out the wrong hors d’oeuvres); what made her let her guard down (nothing).
All I’d have to do was fuck her with my eyes all day, slide in a few flattering lines mixed with some surprising ones, and flash her a smile that made her curious to know more. She’d be writhing beneath me in no time. I’d bet anything she’d never been with a man like me before.
I swirled my bourbon letting some of the ice melt to dilute it. Gwendolyn Roth, I’d come to learn, was one of the Roths—as in the billionaire family who owned a good chunk of Manhattan. Forget leagues, she wasn’t even on the same planet as I was. As a crass Scotch-Irishman with tattoos and an affinity for beating the piss out of grown men in an MMA cage, my calloused hands didn’t belong anywhere near her body.
But that’s what made me want to put them on her most. I’d show her how a real man pleasured a woman. I’d make her come on my fingers, my tongue, my cock…hell, I’d get the princess to let down her hair and enjoy herself for once in her damn life. Sure, I didn’t know her, but I didn’t have to in order to know that my analysis was dead on. I was good at reading people—especially women.
Her pretty hazel eyes had paused on mine out in the garden when I’d given her a look that said, I see you. And I want to see more of you. She’d frozen on the spot, her ivory cheeks flushing a pale pink. Following my stare was a smirk that had her spinning from the spot she’d frozen to, breaking eye contact, and seeking out her fancy insulated water bottle.
Game on.
With the reception in full swing, her job was largely over so it was time to make my move. I’d been fucking her with my eyes all damn day and even though I’d yet to say a single word to her, I knew I had her hooked. To a woman like her, I was danger personified. In my experience, every good girl craved the bad boy experience, at least once. And that’s what I could offer Gwen. One night of unrestricted pleasure.
Best of the series! I wasn't sure how invested I would be with Declan because he wasn't a Hogan and seemed outside the series. And I have never been so happy to be wrong. Declan and Gwen are everything. You had better have tissues ready because this book will rip your heart out and mend it back together in the most beautiful way.
Declan, firefighter, and Gwen, real estate heir, have their story and it is a doozy. Their love is put through the hoops, with fire, kidnapping, psychologists, foster kids and more. Family and friends are their strong support system. I could not put this book down and loved it all the way through. The characters are so strong and determined, with intense emotions and feelings you can feel. The suspense and twists keep you on the edge of your seat. Loved the ending at the retirement party. Very well done.

I didn't think Kaye could top Kyle and Allie but she did! Declan and Gwen's story grabbed me from the very beginning and wouldn't let me go! I was told this was going to be steamy (I even had someone warn me that I would need ice packs) and man they were not wrong; this book is hot! Declan and Gwen light up the pages whenever they are together and Declan is a master at dirty talk *fans self*
The prologue starts off at Dylan and Autumn's wedding reception and Declan has his eye on the wedding planner. He thinks she's going to be an easy lay but once he starts talking to her, feelings arise and he gets cold feet. As fate would have it, they end up in the same elevator. Declan tries to warn her off but the temptation is too great and they proceed to spend the night together (the events of their night together are left to the reader's imagination.) I just have to call out that the forehead kiss he gave her in the elevator; talk about swoon! I loved how affectionate Declan was with Gwen even when they weren't actually together; esp. when he calls her "princess"!
You are definitely going to also need tissues because this book packs an emotional punch as well. I teared up a lot and Kaye definitely puts them through the ringer, but it's so worth it! This book was everything! I can't wait for Mack's book AND the new series she teased in this book!
Okay so wow there is a lot to unpack from this book. For starters, this was definitely the longest book in the series, but boy oh boy was it my favorite one! I never expected this from Declan, but he slid right under my radar and popped in front like it was nothing.
Declan is Lana’s brother and also a firefighter and mma fighter. We’ve seen Declan in previous books, especially Lana and Jesse’s, and he was in Kyle’s and Ryan’s a little bit, but we never got a lot of info about him. Guess Kaye was saving that up for his book.
So Declan, big, strong, tatted up, handsome, Declan. A heart of gold that’s been trapped under 50 lbs of steel wall, you just can’t not love Declan. Especially when he saves a little boy from an abusive situation and all but becomes his dad, like how much more perfect can this man get? Well, let me tell ya actually,
Declan and Gwen met during Autumn and Dylan’s wedding and she has since done every Hogan’s wedding (minus Ryan’s because they’re not married yet ;)) and so Declan and Gwen now have a secret relationship. Thing is, Gwen is super rich and famous, and Declan doesn’t think he’d fit in her world, despite them having intense chemistry.
For every step they take forward together, Declan pushes five back, and that goes on for a majority of the book. But Declan’s been through some things that’s made him this way so it’s not easy for him to trust again.
This book has so much action that I absolutely love, for example, Declan almost dies and that’s how he tells Gwen he loves her, while she’s standing next to his dad bawling her eyes out. Gwen also gets kidnapped and that throws Declan off the deep end. Like I said, absolutely love that stuff. Also gangs. That’s it, just gangs. Oh, also Declan rescued Autumn (and the whole girl gang) from an elevator while Autumn was giving birth.
The physical connection and chemistry between Gwen and Declan is definitely one for the books, and for sure my fav couple so far (although I do love all the other ones!) There relationship was also pretty realistic and healthy because they were having issues and they took some time apart and saw therapists. Can we say healthy couple?
So update time, Dylan and Autumn had a baby girl named Madeline (Maddie) Zoe (because Zoe delivered her), Kyla and Allie had a baby boy named Brian (after his dad), Britt and Jace are still happily married, Jesse and Lana are married and trying for a baby, Ryan finally proposed to Zoe and now everyone’s happy (or happier!) I won’t spoil Gwen and Declan’s life until the next update, but just know it’s too darn cute!
I loved reading Declan and Gwen's story, but I especially enjoyed catching up with the other Hogan brothers and their wives/finances/girlfriends.
Declan Murphy is a notorious player, a firefighter, and a MMA fighter. When he meets Gwendolyn Roth, the wedding planner, at Dylan and Autumn's wedding, his life forever changes.
Gwendolyn Roth is the daughter of the billionaire who owns half of the real estate in NYC. She's a society woman who happens to enjoy working for a living unlike her sister, her mother, and half of the crowd she was raised with. Gwen is a true lady, but add in the crazy chemistry with Declan at Dylan's wedding and she has her first one night stand. Six months later, she's out with Autumn, Allie, Lana, and Zoe, who have become her closest friends and she's mourning another failed relationship. When Lana, Declan's sister suggests that she have a rebound guy, Gwen can't stop thinking about her one night with Declan.
After their one night together 6 months ago, Dec can't stop thinking about her. He doesn't do repeats with the same woman for a reason, but he hasn't been able to be with another woman since. When Lana asks him to join her for food tasting when Jesse is on call, he sees Gwen again. That's when he knows he's in trouble.
He doesn't belong in her world and he knows that she doesn't belong in his. Yet they can't stop thinking about each other or fight what's happening. When Dec fights a gang member and wins, they want a rematch. He doesn't do illegal fights, but when his family is threatened, he has no choice. His good friend, Hunter, a cop on the gang force shows up at the fight and they realize that the only way to walk out alive is to win.
Dec drives to Gwen's afterwards on instinct and he knows he's done for. She cleans up his bruises and takes care of him for the night and they agree to start dating. But when the leader of the gang kidnaps her in broad daylight as punishment, Dec goes nuts and wants blood.
When she's rescued, things go downhill from there for the couple. He's suffering from anger and guilt for not protecting her when he should have. When Gwen asks for some time apart from each other and suggests that he see a therapist, he feels like they are done.
Will these two figure out their issues before it's too late?
This is the sixth book in the Burning for the Bravest series. You could read it as a standalone but I honestly think this series is best read in order. If you haven't read the other books in this series, go grab them and get your binge read on. Sorry Hogan boys but Declan Murphy now has my heart. Kaye Kennedy has done it again, another day spent reading instead of being a responsible adult, being responsible is so overrated. I could not put this book down! Declan is so yummy. He's been hurt badly and has built walls around his heart. He doesn't do relationships but he can't stop himself when it comes to Gwen. Gwen the quintessential good girl but she just can't stay away from Declan any more than he can stay away from her. This book will have you falling for Declan, he's a dirty talking bad boy who's rough around the edges but has a heart with the capacity to love hard and forever. I can't wait to read Mack’s story but it's going to be tough to knock Declan out of my heart. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of Hunter and his teammates on the Special Investigations Task Force.

I loved how Declan and Gwen were total opposites but soooo well matched for each other, they are both missing something in life and don't realise it is each other and fate keeps pushing them together until they start to take the hint. After the ladies bring her into the fold and she learns what real girlfriends are like you can see her starting to put herself first a it more and that also means Declan is in her orbit more so as well as and that one night when they first met isn't letting either of them forget about each. We get to see them try and work their way through the ridiculously hawt attraction they have for each other as well as trying to act nonchalant about it all the while knowing it is a losing battle and trying to hid how they really for each other from each other and those around them. Declan and Gwen are going to go through a lot including highs and lows and self doubt as well as fighting for what they really want and it has you glued to the pages needing to know if they will make it out the other side together.

Fierce and fiery: Another great addition to what has been a fiery (and hot) series. I like how each book has been different and how this one incorporated an element of suspense. It makes me all the more eager to get my hands on her new series Flirting with the Finest coming out August 2021. Fighting, such as MMA, certainly isn't my thing and some of the scenes made me feel quite queasy. I did enjoy the suspense elements of the book and thought these were nicely balanced with some more tender moments, such as with Trevor, the rescued little boy. Gwen and Declan had intense chemistry but between them fighting it plus numerous obstacles that were thrown in their path, they had a bumpy ride on their way to their HEA. This book was on the longer side so it took a while for everything to work out but it was still an enjoyable read. OMG I can´t begin to explain how much I loved loved this romance! Declan and Wen´s story is so beautifully written and developed ... you can´t help but get absolutely engrossed and emotionally invested in their story and all of these amazing characters. Their chemistry and connection is off the charts... passionate and HOT in every single way! Even when they´re trying to deny their feelings, you feel their intense sparks. I have to admit that I felt a little frustrated at their back and forth, but I knew it only added to the sexual tension they had... which only added to the many reasons why I just couldn´t put down the book!!! I went through a miriad of emotions throughout the book. Their story is insaley sexy, yet incredibly sweet and tender... with a dash of suspence and drama to keep your heart racing! It´s a beautiful romance... complex and multi fasceted!

This sixth book in the series is Gwendolyn and Declan's journey.
Gwen is a good girl from a rich family. She is also the wedding planner hired by Autumn for her wedding.
Declan is the epitome of the tattooed alpha bad boy. He is a fireman, MMA fighter and gym owner. He does not date, hookups are his MO. He makes his move on Gwen at the reception and they spend the night together. Six months later his sister Lana hires Gwen to be her wedding planner and the two reconnect. They have dark secrets, tons of personal baggage and kidnappers to deal with before they get their HEA.
I am addicted to this series and though I look forward to the next book, it will be bittersweet to get to the end. Highly recommend!

Burning for Love is Kaye Kennedy’s sixth book in the Burning for the Bravest series and I never tire of reading stories of brave and fearless firefighters, their inner demons, and the love they find with that special someone who sees beyond their pain. Burning for Love is just another example of why readers keep coming back for more of Ms Kennedy’s books with her engaging and fearless characters and the captivating world where they live to serve and protect their community. Declan and Gwen are fabulous characters, and the storyline is entertaining and exciting! Now I must wait again for the next in this addictive series.

Kaye Kennedy makes each foray into this series better and better and this one is no exception. At first Declan seems like an egotistical male appendage but as we get to know him, we learn that his bravado is a front to protect himself from being hurt and in truth is a sensitive guy (don't tell him I said so!) Gwen grows strong under his wing and her spirit is inspiring. There are multiple parts of the story that will leave you in tears for different reasons, some good, some rough to deal with, but know that Kaye Kennedy won't leave us without a happy ending and a great extended epilogue. So looking forward to Mack and Tori's story coming up next.
Declan at first glance comes off as a “bad boy”. He is tattooed, is an MMA fighter, and fireman. His idea of a good time is a quick hookup. When he connects with Gwen, a wedding planner. When his sister hires Gwen to handle her wedding, Declan and Gwen come back together again. Despite all the obstacles, will they go for a HEA this time?
This is another good story in the series. Declan and Gwen are such fascinating characters, and their story is both entertaining and exciting! Each has issues to deal with, but they are so good for each other. Grab your copy and see how their story evolves.
Opposites don't just attract in this book - they have a spark that set the pages on fire! I can't stress enough how much I loved Declan and Gwen's journey throughout this book. I couldn't stop reading. With an element of suspense, dynamic characters, very alpha hero, sweet yet strong heroine, and realism mixed into this romance world, Burning for Love should be the next book you read! The suspense element took this story to the next level. Kudos to Kaye Kennedy for another winner - looking forward to Mack's book and revisiting all these amazing characters.
Firefighter/MMA fighter and a billionaire’s daughter
They seem like an unlikely pair, but the chemistry between these two is undeniable. Kaye Kennedy added suspense and a lot of action, both in and out of the bedroom, in this book. She also addresses 2 sensitive topics in this book as well. She has really outdone herself with this one!
I’m looking forward to the last book in this series! It’ll be hard to beat this one, but I’m sure she’s got something up her sleeve! Also, the introduction to one of the characters to her next series! I’m already intrigued!!!
Good girl Gwen is hired on as the wedding planner for Autumn's wedding.
Declan is totally a tattooed, alpha bad boy. He not one to date. He's only interested in hookups. He ends up with Gwen at the reception and they share a night together. Lana, Declan's sister hires Gwen to be her wedding planner six months later. These two reconnect. They both have issues to resolve before their HEA.
I enjoyed this read.

I loved Gwens and Declans story. It was just wow. Especially the sexy scenes. It was literally off the charts. There was love(lots of it)sacrifice, honor, and loyalty. I just couldn't put this book down. Theres many more things Id like to say. Im just not good with words. But what I will say is, you need to read this awesome book. You wont want to put it down. Thank You Kaye Kennedy for another great book.
What a book! I have read and enjoyed this whole series and the previous book - Burning For You- really blew me away I was therefore concerned I would be disappointed with this one. I couldn't have been more mistaken, this book was incredible! Happy, sad, romantic exciting, it absolutely takes you through all the emotions. I really couldn't put this down and read it until 3am! I cannot recommend this book highly enough and cannot wait for the next in the series.
Wow!!! This story is something else entirely different...I am having a bit of problem finding the words...Gwen and Declan...it's a forward and rewind, hot and cold relationship that almost gave me whiplash...but it's also very heartwarming, romantic, steamy, page-turner and a massive tear-jerker that I loved reading.

Declan and Gwen are complete opposites but upon meeting they end up having a hot one night stand together. Six months later neither has forgotten the other and when they see each other again it's clear there are feeling involved. There is some drama involved along the way but they are so good together and made for a very enjoyable read.

Kaye just keeps getting better and better...what a beautiful story. Full of something for everyone... suspense heat, emotion, vulnerability, firefighters, and a love story! Declan and Gwen's journey is full of ups and downs, but will make you wish for another book of them.
I didn't think I would love anyone's story as much as I love Kyle & Allie's, they spoke to my heart & I was captivated from the beginning... but Declan & Gwen... they stole my heart & spoke to my soul!!! And Trevor... that sweet sweet boy!!! Kaye has outdone herself once again & wrote such a beautiful, touching, roller coaster of a love story!
The sixth book in the Burning for the Bravest series a well written story. I enjoyed reading Declan Murphy and Gwendolyn Roth's story. These are two people with a lot of baggage in their pasts that they have to get through if they are going to get a happy ending. One of my favorite authors doing a great job of putting her imagination to work that keeps us happy and excited to read her hard work with strong characters that are hot, strong and brings a bit of drama to keep you turning the pages. No spoilers just telling you it’s very good and well recommended!

Declan owns my heart. He is a man who built walls and found outlets to cope and cover up his soft interior. I'm in love with that man and this has been my favorite book in the series thus far. Gwen sweetie I love you too. I'm glad she was able to grow as a person throughout the series while still keeping her princess touch. I love this couple with everything in me.
Burning for Love: great story! Declan always felt he wasn't boyfriend material. He met Gwen and he could stop thing about her and said to her that.he was not relationship material would be find friends with benefits. The.problem was he just could get enough of her so he did a lot of think. I really enjoyed their story!
There was a lot going on in this book but all great. The year that passed between these two is easily the hardest anyone goes through but the it made them the strongest possible.

Favourite of the series! Absolutely loved Declan and Gwen! Both haven't had it easy for different reasons so are both super cautious but man the sparks were flying straight away for these too. This series can never end!
