The 225 page book charts the story of the band with text and photographs, from its formation in the autumn of 1995 in Edinburgh, through the early years of locals gigs, onto recording and touring albums such as ‘100 Broken Windows’ and ‘The Remote Part'.
50,000 words of text are written by Roddy Woomble in which he candidly discusses the bands creative process, as well as the line up changes, their hiatus and subsequent return, and their evolution from teenage punk rock band to one of Scotland's most enduring rock bands.
All accompanied by photographs from the band's own archives alongside images taken by other friends and photographers.
With a foreward by novelist Benjamin Myers and design and layout by artist Alexander Brown 'In The Beginning There Were Answers' is a must for every Idlewild fan.
Idlewild are a truly special band and this is a very fitting accompaniment and document of their history. As a group they have soundtracked so much of my life from births, deaths and marriage to all of the spaces in between. I freely accept Im a self confessed fanboy but this is magnificent.
Another really enjoyable trip down memory lane. I would say only one for Idlewild fans, but I've been a fan since I first saw then at Edinburgh Uni freshers week in 99, so I loved this.
Roddy is clearly a man of words - very well read and very articulate. A very honest account of the history of the band. 👍
Great for Idlewild fans. A real insight into being in a moderately successful, underappreciated band. Written by Roddy who unsurprisingly has a poetic way with words and description. Accompanying the text fantastic photos.
