Gorgeous

Through Your Eyes is quite possibly one of the most beautiful novels I have ever read. Everything, from the setting to the plot and characters, reads like magic. You will fall in love with Niki and Brig, the world they inhabit, the backstories, the people they meet and the food they eat. Most importantly, you will fall in love with the language of Through Your Eyes. The prose gets stuck between your teeth like toffee and will cling to you long after you've finished the book.

A fantastic read for any fan of the likes of Sarah Waters.

This book transports you to Montpellier and seduces you with good art, literature, and food. Niki is a highly relatable protagonist, who draws you into her world with incredible descriptions of the art and architecture throughout the city. Finally a sensitive handling of bisexual romance with real character development.

One Love Crazy Story...

Niki writes obituaries before people die. She meets Bridgette and is going to write her girlfriend's Claudine's if she gets her permission. Niki spends a lot of time with Bridgette when Claudine leaves her high and dry. They fall in love and Claudine shows back up and ruins everything...or does she?

Full disclosure: I know Marianne, she's been a friend for, oh, twenty years or so, and so my review may be biased.

So when a pal wrtites a book you have to be supportive, and read a book out of 'duty'. I'm happy to say I did not do that. i read this book because I wanted to read it. It is a wonderful debut novel by a new writer, and I spent quite a few enjoyable sunny afternoon hours immersing myself in the environment.

The book is set in Montpellier, France, and I just adored that, how the city became a de feacto character in the book, and is a nice break from the usual settings for just about any given romance. (London, Paris, New York, A Small American Town). Marianne - almost literally - paints a visual feast complete with recipes and music to add a delicious bass-note to the story of falling in love in a place you would never have thought to find it.

And a good old fashioned F/F love story it is. No pretense, no preaching, jsut a woman falling in love with another, and that is all it ever needed to be!
