Came for Boy Love — Stayed for the Psychological Horror

At first glance—it's just another dungeon crawling, sci-fi fantasy novel. But as the chapters pile (and they pile), you begin to delve into the emotionally tumultuous world of Choi Lee-Kyung-ie. The world-building and plot for revenge is solid—but above all, this story is told in its relationships; between Self and Other.

Our unreliable narrator, Choi Lee-Kyung, suffers because of his selflessness and utter disregard of himself—leading into a deep range of emotional story-telling. A series of cause and effect. These characters are far from 2-dimensional. Exploring topics like morality—and with the uncanny depiction of a self-destructive mind—I felt a lot while reading this.

I did not expect the psychological horror, either. Personally, that's the icing on the cake.

I actually read the manhwa first before the novel, when I first read it I dropped it since I thought it was boring but decided to pick it up again months later, and I must admit I regret dropping it for the first time bc it is absolutely MAGNIFICENT the way the story portrays emotions so well and interesting to the point it's almost scary. I immediately read the novel once I realized why the manhwa hasn't updated in a long time (it got dropped due to the author not liking the way the manhwa was going iirc), each character is so interesting and unique I absolutely love it. dawon's relationship with yikyung is so cringe but in a cute cringe way so I love it. this story will always have a place in my heart!!!
also, it focuses a bit more on the plot than the BL, which I don't really mind that much considering how it's still really good:)

Hell of a ride. The twists and turns made me want cry . The MCs really did suffer a hell lot (another self sacrifical fool) 4 star is for mc only. Ml tbh was unlikeable at many points. Needs some good therapy
