The sequel to Gordon Psychological Thriller
It was probably not the most obvious choice for a three month sabbatical but to Emma coming to Holden seemed totally idyllic. She had heard so much about it and could picture every single segment etched in her mind like braille. Now she wanted to fill in the dots and bring it to life so that she could see it for herself first hand.
It was April 2026 and she had secured a three month, off the record, sublet in a beautiful apartment called Arlington Terrace. The apartment with the black front door. It was totally perfect for her, required no references and no questions were being asked as to why she was there. In fact no one even knew she was heading that way, so she could slip in unnoticed and live incognito amongst the locals.
So how was it that Julie found her again, when she was so careful not to leave a trail and why was it that she didn’t feel alone, ever? Was she going mad or was she simply being paranoid. What could she do to stop these tormenting acts from happening and make people believe that she was the one being persecuted.
Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge, Detective Constable Mel Brugge and Detective Sergeant Paul Osman are back at the heart of yet another investigation deep in the heart of Holden City Central. Follow them as they try to unravel a crime that intertwines their lives taking them back to a gut wrenching case that has infected yet another generation and into the horrors that emerge from beyond the grave.

This is the second in a series, it follows Gordon Square which I really enjoyed.
In Gordon Square, we did get a typical crime thriller - and this was so very quick and pacey.
In Arlington Terrace, we get more of a psychological thriller, and I really liked how it all came together, and how much it played with my thinking!

As this book connects heavily to Gordon Square, I would highly recommend that is read first.

I enjoyed the crazy twists here, loved delving deeper into the detectives'Mel and Mikes' lives from the previous book.
I thought I worked it out, but I had not. I challenge anyone to get it right 😋

Read this book for great twists, a cast of great characters, and a mind boggling experience.

I loved Gordon Square and was so excited to receive an invite for the sequel Arlington Terrace and this book really didnt disappoint.

Years have passed since the Gordon Square case was closed and a lot has changed for Mike and Mel. Their partnership is just brilliant and they really do bounce off each other.

This book pulls you into the storyline and really kept me guessing. The twists in this book are ingenious and really do make this storyline addictive. I was shouting my predictions at the book, I was that invested.

The last page leaves the book open perfectly for a third instalment to this brilliant series (Tracy, please tell me there is a third in the pipeline) and I for one can not wait.

The trilogy Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace, Keepers Lodge by Tracy Martin-Summers
Gordon Square
On a cold, windy November night, Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge and his partner Detective Constable Mel Bailey come across a girl, age unknown, in the parkland in Gordon Square. She was frail, malnourished, dirty and was covered in excrement.
What had happened to this girl?
Revealing hypnosis sessions allow them to glimpse some of her pain and suffering. Then, follow their story deep into the horrors that unfold, causing chaos and disruption in their own lives.
The detectives are about to discover a horrific, gut-wrenching story that spanned over four decades. But will it end?
Arlington Terrace is the sequel to Gordon Square:
It was probably not the most obvious choice for a three-month sabbatical. Still, Emma coming to Holden seemed totally idyllic. Follow them as they try to unravel a crime that takes them back to a gut-wrenching case that has infected yet another generation.
Keeper's Lodge is the concluding story in the Gordon Square, Arlington Terrace trilogy.
Picture postcard' were the words Detective Sergeant Mike Brugge chose to describe Keeper's Lodge when they first saw the stunning Scandinavian-style retreat nestling proudly in the mountains.
They were investigating the disappearance of Rachel Blossom, a psychiatric patient with severe mental health issues. Rachel had vanished and was now classed as a missing person.
How was it that she had slipped entirely off the grid without a trace? Had her multiple personality disorder outwitted the medical profession into thinking she was of sound mind, was it just a series of blunders by the nursing team, or was there something more sinister going on?
I thoroughly enjoyed all three of these novels; they are well written and have great twists and turns in each plot. In addition, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and how they developed as the books progressed. I was gripped from the first page of book one to the last of book three.
I am happy to recommend them.

I would definitely suggest you read book one, Gordon Square, first, so you will know all about the history of The Sanctuary, Joseph Treville, sisters Linda and Rachel and the awful treatment they endured, since this story is a continuation of these characters’ stories. You will also come to know Mike and Mel, DS Mike Brugge and DC Mel Bailey as they were in 2019, stationed at Holden CID together.
It is 2021 and Linda is responding well to her treatment and rehabilitation, sadly younger sister Rachel is way behind in hers. In short, she is attacking nurses and displaying at least 4 other personalities, including Anika, the identity their tormentor forced her to take, her childhood doll Amy, and Helena, a woman held captive with them. Together with an extremely violent alter ego, she is heading towards being committed permanently.
The story then moves on 5 years. Mel and Mike are now married and baby Jack has made an appearance so they are moving to a bigger home in a neighbouring town. After extended maternity leave, Jack is now a toddler and Mel is returning to her old DC job very soon. Mike turned down the DI promotion to South Wales and is still a DS at Holden CID where Mel will be deskbound for the time being.
Meanwhile Emma moves into a short rent on a sublet flat near where Mike and Mel have just moved from. In fact, her local shopkeeper is Harvey, the friend who has just helped Mike and Mel move house. There is only one problem – her old friend Julie has already found her and is there waiting for her at home. Emma struggles to ever shake her off, and now her own father, Julie and countless others have invaded her new home, eaten all her food and assaulted her. Haven’t they? She makes a decision to report this to the nice policeman, Mike Brugge, who rescued her from Julie on the street the previous night, and Mike is concerned for her well-being when he sees her injuries. She makes friends with a waiter from a local café but very soon Mike and Mel find themselves investigating his disappearance, together with Mike’s new partner, Detective Sergeant Paul Osman. They find themselves being dragged back to the memories of Gordon Square and the one case they never wanted to relive again. Could history be repeating itself in a cruel twist of fate?
This really is a superb story from start to finish. It is beautifully crafted and the author effortlessly weaves a thoroughly engrossing tale and sweeps the reader along, drawing them into a web of intrigue. And just when you think you know all the answers – bam, straight between the eyes comes the shock ending and a few tantalizing unanswered questions. I really do hope there will be more to come from this very exciting author. 5*

Emma is trying to break the cycle of fear at the hands of Julie but her fresh start is destroyed when Julie finds her and starts another campaign of cruelty. Desperate, Emma reaches out to DS Mike Brugge for help who uncovers a network of lies...
Arlington Terrace is the second book in the series but I have not read the first. The storyline continues so I think it would be beneficial to read the books in order. However, the author quickly catches us up on what has happened previously. There is plenty of potential for another instalment :)
The police team previously investigated a repugnant series of crimes which have serious repercussions for the victims and those who investigated. Mike and his wife Mel, another officer, are still haunted by events from the past even as they move on with their own lives and adapt to being parents. The police team are stronger than ever and I felt that the range of cases they are investigating at once was a realistic portrayal of police work.
Mel and Mike are a likeable couple and in this book they move house and Mel returns to work after having a baby. The little details in their lives made them feel more human and it was easy to relate to them which in turn made me want them to uncover the truth and solve the case.
The deterioration of Emma's mental health as she is targeted by Julie's selfishness is quite unpleasant and difficult to read. There is a strong emotional core to the book which helps us to identify with the characters and feel emotionally invested in their stories.
I thought I had the book figured out in my head but there were twists that I never imagined! I'm not sure how credible the plot was but it held my interest from first page to last and thoroughly entertained me.
Arlington Terrace is an enjoyable and tense psychological thriller.

I’m not going to say much about the plot apart from DS Mike and his partner DS Bailey are back investigating another case that is a little closer to home than they think. When we first meet Emma she is moving into an apartment in Arlington Terrace. From the description it is picture perfect, too good to be true and Emma can’t believe her luck. But then her friend Julie finds her and when she is assaulted by Julie that’s when she meets Mike. She tells Mike that she is trying to escape Julie and her own father but they have found her again. Why is Emma being targeted? What is really happening at Arlington Terrace?

Having read the first book Gordon Square I was excited to hear that the author was writing a sequel so this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. The first book left a lasting effect on me because even after I’d finished reading the book I still wondered what became of the characters especially the Gordon Square twins. A few of my questions were answered when I started to read this book. I loved the storyline and was hooked from the first page. When Emma first moves into Arlington Terrace I couldn’t help but get an unsettling feeling from the beginning and there was just something about it that didn’t sit right with me. But when all was revealed it all made sense.

I loved reading about Mike and Mel again and what had happened to them since the last book especially as this story is based five years later. Reading about Mike and Mel was like being reunited with old friends and it was hard not to investigate with them. There were a lot of twists and turns in this book and picking the story apart was like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, with pieces being fed to you a little at a time. When I thought I’d figured out what was happening there was another twist that just threw me off completely.

This was a bit more of a sinister read than the first one especially with that first opening chapter that kind of set the scene and laid the theme for the rest of the book.

The author has done it again by writing another cracker of a book. This was an amazing read. It was very intense in parts and definitely darker than Gordon Square. If you like criminal thrillers with twists and turns galore that will keep you guessing until the end this is the book for you. I would highly recommend reading Gordon Square first.

I received a gifted copy for an honest review.

This is book two in the Brugge and Bailey (DS Mike Brugge and DC Mel Bailey) detective series and although it could be read as a standalone I would definitely recommend reading the previous book as there’s a lot of background to this one. The book starts with a disturbing prologue, Linda and Rachel are both in psychiatric establishments following their long term incarceration by Dr Treville. Whilst Linda is recovering Rachel has become psychotic and is exhibiting multiple personalities, one of whom is extremely violent. This is another well constructed plotline with red herrings that really caught me out, and plenty of twist and turns to keep you gripped.

Briefly, five years on from the prologue and Mike and Mel are happily married with a son, Jack. Mike is now partnered with DS Paul Osman and Mel is returning to work in an administrative capacity. We are introduced to Emma who is subletting a high quality flat, running from something but we don’t know what. We soon find out as Julie, an old friend, has found her. Having been rescued by Mike one one occasion, when Julie invites a number of other friends around to party at the flat, Emma goes back to speak to Mike again. But Mike is becoming concerned about her increasingly erratic behaviour.

This isn’t so much a police procedural but more of a psychological thriller, and if like me you think you’ve got this sussed early on believe me you haven’t! Another page turner and as good as the first book. I enjoyed it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Wow after finishing Arlington Terrace I had to take a deep breath. What an utterly engrossing book.

Moving to a rented property at Arlington Terrace Emma’s old friend Julie has found where she is living and has started letting herself into the property. Emma starts displaying odd behaviour and is concerned about Julie stalking her. Emma decides to go to the police station and where she meets Mike who is concerned about Emma’s state of mind. What does Julie want with Emma and how far does she push her?

Jason topaz has gone missing but how does Emma know him? What is their connection? What’s Diane , Jason’s mother, involvement in the story.

A box marked Gordon Square has been brought out from the archives but why now after 7 years?

Arlington Terrace is the second book in the Gordon Square trilogy and what a riveting follow up it is. The curve balls thrown at you is ridiculously good and is very much an edge of your seat page turner. I’ve loved seeing the development between Mike and Mel the detectives. This is definitely not a series to be missed. This book ends on a big cliff hanger so am looking forward to book 3 Keepers lodge

I don’t know where to start at all! This is a follow on of the story of the Gordon Girls and we see where they are a few years down the line and there are many developments! Mike and Mel are now Mr and Mrs as well as Mum and Dad! And the twists and turns are literally immense! And the cliff hanger has been well set up for a third instalment which I cannot wait for!

With the previous book, I did mention in my review that there were some grammatical errors which have appeared again in the second instalment, and the time-leap isn’t all that obvious so I did have to read a certain section three times to picture abs understand where it was the reader was meant to be, and a clear cut but confusing error on the same few pages, but I still enjoyed it a lot and was able to overlook these to enjoy the plot over all. I loved Mike and Mel’s development and their latest venture in to parenthood and a new neighbourhood as well and can’t wait to see how they develop further now they’re both back at work!

When I realised this was a sequel to Gordon Square I knew I wanted to be involved with the blog tour and read this.
Goodness, I wasn't disappointed. Following on from Gordon Square, which I would recommend reading first to know the history and enable you to dive straight into Arlington Terrace. A number of years have passed since this case was closed. Mel and Mike have married and have a little boy. We see Mel returning to work after extended maternity leave and both Mike and herself investigating a case which turns out to be much closer to home in more way than one than they had first envisaged.
Full of so many twists and turns, both from a psychological and crime point of view. All delivered at a pace which kept me gripped wanting to know more and discover the whys, and linking the past story. Many times. I thought I'd sussed it and hadn't even considered the ending.
An brilliant read. I love to see a third novel as there is so much more to come for all the characters involved.

I so enjoyed the experience of reading Gordon Square and was excited to jump in to Arlington Terrace right away.

Mike and Mel are such great characters and I enjoy all of the scenes that focus on them. In fact, I wish they were prevalent in the book as much of this story was focused on Emma and Julie.

There is another mystery to solve in Book 2 and once again, it is a crazy ride to get to the end of this book.

It’s a bit harder to write a review about Book 2 as I feel anything I might say could give away part of the storyline. So I will just say that if you are a fan of Crime Thrillers/Mysteries, Gordon Square and Arlington Terrace should be on your list!

I was so excited to read Arlington Terrace by Tracy Martin-Summers because I loved the first book, Gordon Square. I’d recommend reading these in order as this does not seem to be a standalone.

I really enjoyed this. This takes place a few years after the first book, and it was awesome to see where Mel and Mike were.

There are lots of twists and turns. This novel keeps you on your toes. There is a bit of a sinister tone to this one, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere.

I really hope there’s a third book. Check this out!

Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources for the review copy and the opportunity to honestly review this book on the blog tour. All opinions are my own and unbiased.

Wild story telling

I read the second book in this trilogy thinking it would be an improvement on book one.
Instead we get a super confusing story that tangles itself into the first book, but trips you up so badly you don't know what day of the week it is.
Whoever is proof-reading needs to be replaced, there are some really jarring grammatical errors that pull you straight out of the book, and the constant use of everyone's first names in conversation, even when there are only two people in the conversation is awful.
My biggest annoyance is that I hate leaving books unread, and feel like I have to read book 3. We shall see........

I loved Gordon Square and was keen to read this one.

I enjoyed learning more about Mike and Mel’s lives in this book. I really love both characters and the relationship they have together.

I was hooked from the very start and couldn’t put this one down I read it in pretty much one sitting.

There was so many twists and turns just when I thought I had it figured out there was another.

Thank you to the author for the gifted copy of the book, I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I enjoyed the first book (Gordon Square) so much, I just had to read this one. As with the first, it took me a little while to get into, but soon I was hooked. Just when I thought I had worked it out, the story took a turn in a totally different direction. I now look forward to reading the third and final book in the series.
