Book 1: RISKY MISSION Beautiful, mysterious Vlasta George shows up at Frank Doy’s door. She'll give him good money to take her to a secret location in Europe, where she’s planning on starting a new life. Away from her murderous gangster husband. Will Doy be able to protect his client — and make it out alive?
Book 2: OUT OF THE NIGHT When three bodies wash up on a Cleveland beach, the police call on Doy for help. And they’re not the only ones. A naked woman appears on his doorstep in the dead of night. In the morning she has disappeared without a trace. Who was she? And can Doy catch up to her before her pursuers?
Book 3: A DEATH AT SOUTH GARE Doy visits wild South Gare, where a storm is raging. He can only watch as a man drowns out at sea. Three other men see it happen: the ones who pushed him to his death. Doy is the only witness and he knows the murdered man, an upstanding MP, deserves justice. But at what cost?
Book 4: LIVING DANGEROUSLY An old friend turns up at Doy’s door in desperate need of help. Her son Tom ran over the son of a gangland boss. Now Doy is the only one who can keep him safe. Doy and Tom flee to an isolated country cottage, but trouble soon follows. Could there be more to the story than Tom is letting on?
Book 5: ONE DAMN THING AFTER ANOTHER On holiday in Prague, Doy steps into a street fight without a second thought. He saves a billionaire Russian dissident from a brutal beating. But the Kremlin still wants him dead. And the only thing standing in their way is Frank Doy.
Brilliant collection, an inspirational hero like Jack reacher
Written as narrated by the macho Frank Doy, a similar style hero to Jack Reacher, without the military. Frank finds trouble...everywhere lol. Thoroughly recommend these books..I've just bought book 6and can't wait to read more adventures
It is a good set of books which I have enjoyed reading but have learnt nothing about Frank Doy's previous life. All very busy busy as to where he obtained his grounding in the security work he does. We also find that he puts his trust in the one person that always betrays him. And he always gets out of a locked cellar by means of a recently added large drainpipe!! But they are good books with interesting characters especially his neighbour at Risky Point. Be nice to see what comes in the next series.
While not a literary tour-de-force, this set of novels makes for an enjoyable read. Frank Doy, the protagonist, is a somewhat predictable character, seeming almost more of an American P.I. than a British security expert. The author interestingly uses first-person narrative when telling Franks story but switches to third-person when covering other action. This has a way of moving the story along in a lyrical style.
The first one of the series was not very good! Persevere and you'll be glad you did! I was glad to get onto the following book and consequently the rest of the series. Books 2 to 5 were excellent and were page turners unlike book 1. Good paced, good storylines and believable characters too. You'll be like me and want to read more Frank Doy!
Wow, Frank certainly doesn't need to look for trouble, it finds himself every time. In some ways he seems a bit naive, but then he always seems to come out on top again. An interesting read, that is full of shootings, murder etc that just seems to flow as if it is a normal everyday event.
Great crime thriller series. I purchased the five-book Frank Doy box set and read the books one after the other. As Frank’s friend and neighbor Jimmy Mack warned, ‘I don’t want to upset you, son, but this looks like trouble.’ That sums up Frank’s life as security consultant and private detective — trouble always seems to find him. Engaging characters, action-packed plots. Highly recommend.
An excellent series.looking forward. To next adventures.takes on some thrilling cases.all diferent.lots of p.i.storeys tend to be the same these ones are a mixture of.theft.missing persons murder and loads of suspence.well worth reading and worthy of five stars.a good binge reading box set.
I’ve absolutely loved these books. I honestly didn’t realise just how big a fan I was of mystery/crime/thrillers as I now am till I was introduced to Frank Doy (the main character). I’ll come back a little later with a fuller account of myself, but I’ve just started book 6 and don’t want to waste time writing when I can be reading.
Series is fast paced. Took me a little to get into the series but glad I did. It is a series of books about a British detective and how he is invoked in solving these thrillers. I think you will enjoy if you like a fast read and learning some of the British words used through the book. You want to know what will happen do you keep reading
I thoroughly enjoyed reading these five books. Not brilliant literature but very readable. They are a bit formulaic but not annoyingly so. I recommend them as good, light reading.
Wow great books. I really enjoyed these 5 books. I really think anyone who enjoys crime thrillers book will love Frank Doy books by Dan Latus. I know I sure did.
Once I started each story I couldn't stop. Fantastic action and intrigue from the first page to the last! All the characters were excellently developed.
Characters were likeable - even the police officer, and the female characters. Main character stayed likeable and relatable through first 5 books. Nice combination of action and reflection. Looking for more of this author, now.
What a incredable book to read. I enjoyed every page and the fact that one could not predict the next to come made it hard to put down to catch up with my chores that i neclected. Thanks so much for an excellent book.
Each story opened with a mysterious preview that draws you in and then the action gradually increases as Frank works his way through each thrilling event to finally solve the crime or crimes.
These stories seemed a little far fetched at first but then I realised what a lot of research had gone into them. Overall though they were well put together, fast paced and kept you guessing.
Great character who never fails to amaze. He has his own moral standards, But don't mess with his friends. Bought the 5 set and glad I did. Frank is an appropriate name for the character. Puts Dirty Harry to shame.
