Breed, Populate, Conquer When Benjamin's latest conquest revealed herself to be from another world, he couldn't believe it. But her crazy revelations didn't stop there. She said that Benjamin was the reincarnation of the Forgotten Ruler, a supreme being with an empire that once spanned an entire continent. Now, he's traveling to that fantasy world with one goal in mind: rebuilding his empire, one monstrous offspring at a time. Move over Sauron, Benjamin Davies is the next dark lord of fantasy.
This first volume needs a lot of paint and polish to cover the plot holes and inconsistencies the author left out and about in the beginning, but as the story progresses it balances out a bit. Author creates fake/cheap drama setup situations at the climax, that are not very credible or have common sense. This first volume has 300+ pages with 19 chapters, no maps or illustrations inside, just the cover page that has Melody, the Cat-kin girl that tele-transported herself to Earth (by instruction of Kamila the Archmage) to retrieve Benjamin Davies (reincarnation of the Forgotten Ruler) to this alternate fantasy and magical world. Series has a total of three volumes so far. With Melody as Ben's first companion, they breed at least 2-3 kids in this first volume, and with the 3 spirit-kin ladies, rescued from the Ogres, well, it seems Ben is going for at least five children (beast-spirit-kids hybrids at the moment). Just because the author likes to "mix things up" Ben's kids are all born from eggs. Yes! EGGS! Bird-like species are supposed to be born from eggs (through a process called oviparity), not mammals (like Ben and Melody) that impregnate females (Ben in this case) but "birdlike" birth through eggs. If that is weird in an impossible way for you, then the "future birth of his spirit-kids" through eggs, will not hold. Humans and Beast-folk/Spirit-Folk traditionally use viviparity (live bearing of offspring) (inside the mother). Birds leave eggs at their nests, because they fly, and are more similar to lizards and snakes (who also lay eggs), traditionally they are thought to have eggs that then birth offspring,(oviparity). Author seems to have failed biology and most of the sex education classes, or is kind of like the eternal virgin (#ForeverAlone), because in his previous novel series Dungeon Breeder, he made the same faux-pas(ses) of using eggs to birth Dragons, Bears, etc. etc. etc. Believing that the stork brings the babies, maybe led to his constant confusion. That or the fact that testicles are often called eggs, ovaries produce eggs, so eggs sort of like come out to birth Ben's kids in this new fantasy novel series. It is a harem series, and the author means to repopulate this whole alternate reality world with Ben's eggs in a hurry! With the book series motto being "Breed, Populate and Conquer!" Volume 3 was published in January of 2022, so this series will probably continue to "grow"...
This is an interesting story about a man who finds out that he is the reincarnated ruler of another world. At first he struggles to come to terms about his abilities and what he is capable of. But as time passes he becomes more understanding of what the world is about and his role in it. There are interesting magical components as well as interesting characters and there is a little bit of slow burning harem romance that some parts do not fade to Black but most of the story is comprised of world building and the personalities of the characters and the challenges that come their way. There is a lot more challenges on the horizon as I read in the end and I wonder what's going to happen next, I'd love to read more.
Going into this I was hoping for a fun power fantasy harem.
At about 2/3 though I found that the fun just wasn't there.
The MC has one spell that seemingly can defeat any enemy rendering any and all challenges null. The harem girls are largely uninteresting.
At one point it's explained that among dryads sex is very casual and that dryads are very free thinking and experimental when it comes to sex, however this particular dryad girl, while of course being completely into the sex thing, has been saving herself for or MC.
This sort of thinking very much sets the tone for the book.
Title being taken into account this is one of those books where the MC almost makes it unreadable. Is the MC an evil emperor, a calculating man, a child or a professional idiot we don't know. Book is great, action is contrived because Mr. King seemed to be looking for a way to make a hero/likable guy at the end. Just stick with calculating MC and I think this series will be a winner. That all said MC is 10000% better than the bro dude from creation mage if like me you struggled to put up with Mr. Mauler.
Mr King, Man you are doing the same thing!! I love your work and as you already know that I am very big fan. Please keep putting out great reads and I'll be there will be to support. Now, when is the next book in this series?? Please don't keep us waiting!!
I like it. The story line is different enough that it held my interest and I look foreword to reading the next book. The Characters are a good mix along with the land in which they live. It started off slow, and I know it has to history/background to evolve the story from, but I started to get bored and almost put it down before it got interesting.
What can be said when you have reincarnation, cat girls and nymps and a host of other things set on new worlds and magic, loved the read for an adult fantasy it was well written I look forward to reading book 2, this was a fun and easy read so smooth in transitions and story telling I enjoyed the story and where it is going.
I really liked the take on this book. Other than a few grammar mistakes and plot mix ups I think it has some good potential. Looking forward to the next one !
A truly great way to begin a new series! No over powered MC from the get go, fantastic beastican and monster girls!! Some great adult fantasy mixed the out the story and a crazy cool way to grow an army!!!
😇Very interesting characters.I liked the mages and the magical system. The protagonists were fun to watch.Their interactions were a little rushed but good to see.The antagonists were well shown also
Came for the harem and the lawful chaos or neutral chaos MC. Alot of polt armor and silly thinking to make this work but still enjoyable. The egg thing is different and not a big fan of it but maybe it will grow on me. Trying the second book now.
While the pacing was fine. The narrative was shallow. With little depth to either the world or its characters. Hopefully this is rectified in future volumes.
Not the worst and clearly written by one of Dante's more prolific ghost writers with similar style as some of the other books. It's simple, cheesy, kinky (his women lay eggs when they sleep with him?), and there's no depth of the story, magic system, and characters.
Too much porn and swooning over the insanely manly protagonist compared to the rest of the plot. The protagonist becomes soon OP but lets the women fight his battles.
This was a awesome power fantasy romp, with interesting characters, and awesome lore! I look forward to seeing the rise of the empire within these pages!
Always enjoy Dante’s stories and this one doesn’t disappoint. Good storyline and strong characters with plenty of action. It will be fun to see where he takes this series
Love it and want some more. A bit more go with the flow character than some of Dante king’s others, and I believe this will be a very interesting book.
