I really hoped that book two would be better than the first. But unfortunately, as the plot went on, it wasn't that intense, that I wanted it to be. It was way too easy. And don't get me wrong: I still enjoyed the book and liked to read it. Otherwise, I would not have finished it, and therefore I wouldn't write a review at all.
So, I state, what I liked. Again, Max is one of the highlights. I loved Alec and of course Sam, and their newly blossoming relationship. Dr. Brad - a good addition. Even, though, the mating and the adaption into the family was too fast and relaxed. I had hoped for a different reaction from the mates. And Simone. I found her funny.
But the rest. Oh, dear. The "villain" wasn't that kind of mastermind. More like a psychotic toddler. The ending again goes too smoothly. No big fight. No big magic performance. That was anticlimactic. The whole plot based on a big villain, that is the head of a killing agency, killed in less than ten pages without much fuss. How could that kind of person stay in power that long? And the soldiers, too, were not a big threat. I mean, River could play with them.
I think the story mostly lacked the big emotions. I mean, she was hurt so long. But Dell comes around that fact way too easy. The men don't have to put much effort in it. It was all fast-paced and solved in one rush. No big deal.
I may enjoyed it anyway, but it leaves me with an anticlimactic feeling. So, I stay with the 3 stars.
