This is not how I saw this trip to Sunset Peak Colorado going at all.
Now instead of deciding whether my mates should die or not,
I’m trying to decide who exactly is trying to kill me.

Whatever it takes though, I will protect what’s mine,
even if that includes my asshole mates.
Because whether I want them or not,
they are still mine to deal with and
no one is taking that right from me.

Being an assassin has always had its risks,
but when someone comes after my flesh and blood, it’s on.
Better hope you have good life insurance,
because Umbra is coming for you.

Reckoning is the second in a duet PNR/UF Reverse Harem romance. Not suitable for anyone under the age of 18 due to language, sexual situations, and violence. There is MM in this book which means swords will be crossing. There are things in here that people might find triggering.

Welp just as I thought

So I stopped at 74% . I was bored and the guys never did really have to work to get her back. Its bad enough they cheated for years but add physical pain.. Enough that she went to doctors to see if she had medical problem and that she just fell back into bed and a relationship with them was just ugly.
Yep I said it .....ugly.🙋 And I got my wish about a new guy ..but wait the guys accepted him so they didn't feel any pain ....like she did. Cause ...they accepted him and some wanted to bang him 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
So I'm disgusted with these books and feel no care if they all died 🤷 I didn't feel bad for her didn't care about any of these people and frankly am tired of girls being " good" while cheating guys get an excuse and a free pass. Once a cheater its pretty easy to just have another brain bleed to do it again ..cause if a mated bond don't stop you ??? Well nothing in the world will .💀
Done with the writer cause she told me a tale instead of showing me one .👍

2.5 stars. As soon as I started this one, I wondered why I’d continued. I liked Sam and Alec and I’m curious about Simone. The miscommunication was annoying, especially when Del stormed off. Brad. Brad was okay, I was just confused as to why he was there. It kind of felt like a quick its all good, lets add another guy now. The guys faded into the background a bit and the bad guy was dealt with quickly.

Fell flat :(

This is a super hard review to write! I loved the first book!!!!. Unfortunately book 2 fell short for me and kinda ruined it.
First off, Dell forgave the guys wayyyyyy to easily.
I was hoping their was going to be some kind of payback or something, anything...but she just took it like them cheating on her was no big deal.....then someone was crying or tearing eyed in almost every chapter. For being an assassin, their sure was a lot of tears.

Dr Brad, whom I was down with was more like Insta-Love. I was really hoping that maybe when Dell sealed the deal with him, her "mates" would feel that pain that she did until her and Dr Brad were official. But that happened right off of the bat too and it was anticlimactic. I didn't quite understand it. Then as soon as that happened, everyone else was ok and they were all into each other.

Then Dell, the big, bad assassin had to leave the room after seeing a picture of a dead Simone. I was confused by this, as she literally kills people for a living, but seeing someone else dead makes her sick. It just didn't go for me.

I'm not sure what happened, if this book was rushed or the ideas fell flat, but I am not a fan. Book 1 was amazing and I couldn't wait to read more. I thought the entire storyline was brilliant and not something you see all of the time. Because of Book 1, I look forward to more books by this author, but I hope they stay more the course with a bada$$ FMC that doesn't take any crap. It was a completely different character for me in book 2.

*Overall 2/5 (Sorry) ♥️
*Heat? 3/5
*Fast Burn
*MF, MFM, MM
*Quick Read
*HEA? Yes

I didn’t think book 2 would be as bad as book 1, but it ended up being worse 🥲. The writing is still very juvenile. Also this book is marketed as an RH but it is overwhelming a MMMM harem situation with a FMC added in to expand the audience. I couldn’t even believe my eyes when Dr. Brad is added into the bond group like 70% through book 2 in a DUET, and they not only bond but he also HAPPENS to be bi and want to be with her other mates who are also all bi. Like I’m sorry, I have no problem with M/M content, but the odds of her randomly meeting another guy who happens to also be hot and bi and wanna be in her harem? The math ain’t mathing. The 5 dudes she’s already in a relationship also being in a relationship all with each other was already hard enough to believe. The whole situation is beyond unrealistic.

Add into the fact that all the characters are super 1 dimensional and don’t actually read like real people and it was hard to feel anything about this book. The villain was like a caricature of a person, the motives were bizarre and the whole fake murder was too convenient and out of character.

Idk man, this was pretty bad. The storyline itself is a decent premise, but the character development and relationship development was just super hard to read.

Also I had to skip all the sex scenes, they were not sexy and I’m so sorry but everytime Tag used magic to lube people up I was so grossed out 😭

Scene with River priceless

The confrontation takes place and Wren is dealt with. I loved how River dealt with the guards, I laughed out loud.

Now they live happily ever after. I specifically read the duet for the "rejected mate" aspect. Might give the rest of the series a try later.

Not adding up

I really loved the first book, but I can't say I really cared for this second follow up. It just seemed kind of silly, boring, and inconsistent with what I knew of Dell from the first book. She's this amazing secret assassin, yet gets taken and has to be kind of rescued by someone from the inside? Her mates do not spring into action to get her back? which was weird? When dell escapes and makes it back the next day, no one runs to her happy she's home safe, it's like all nonchalant and it's weird! (Kind of like when She stabs one of her mates in front of her 5 yr old, he doesn't even bink an eye)!! Which is odd since he doesn't really know she's a assassin killer? I mean, he's 5! He even asked her later if She was gonna stab one of his daddies again? What? Lol. So now She escaped and She gets alpha silas to bring her home because she's worried about her mates being watched and doesn't want to tip of wren and the AA that she back, comes in disguised, but when the alpha ends up leaving without the women he came with how exactly does that work? it obviously points to it being her right? Yet they don't really make plans the minute she gets there with this huge threat hanging over them it's just the same oh sex and mate issues? This whole part made no sense to me? Then we learn the inside guy is killed and dell rushes to the toilet to throw up? A seasoned assassin? I just couldn't finish after that. This book is not adding up and I dnf @64%

Amazing

The Grimm Pack. My god how I’m going to miss them. I love how serious and protective 2 of Dell’s men are but I also love how River is the jokester of the group. I love how Dalton is the person that calms everyone with his earthy powers. I love how all the men quickly get the hang of being fathers to Max.
Dell will go down as one of my favorite characters. She is strong, protective, and brave. She is also not afraid to show some vulnerability when she’s with her men.
I loved the action and mystery. I wish there was more to the ending, but even then I still loved it.
The Grimm Brothers Tattoo series took me on a wild ride that I wish I could ride over and over again. You won’t regret reading this series!

This one was slightly better than the last but still underwhelming. I did enjoy the little side plot of Sam and Alec and I’m definitely planning on reading their novella.

I also loved the new addition to the family, Brad, I really liked him but thought we needed more scene with him.

I would’ve liked more from the epilogue and the plot but it was still enjoyable, mostly because of how cute Alec and Sam were. Anyways, I can’t wait to read Sam's and Alec's novella and know more about Alpha Silas. Toodles!

Great conclusion

There was not enough groveling in my opinion for what her mates did to her, but it is definitely worth reading.

everyone is crying

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book with so much crying. “Tears in his eyes” “tears trailing down his face” good lord I dig a guy with emotions but I felt like all the guys ever did was cry.

This wasn’t a satisfying read. Things were fast paced enough that they were non-existent, like that there was enough chemistry for Brad to just mosey his way in the pack without even knowing everyone including the FMC. He saved one of the guys’ lives and then it was like- “cool he’s in” honestly I just thought that when they met at the pool it was just a dude hitting on her and her using him as a bit of a revenge tool, not real meaningful conversation. There was no real characterization and development, and honestly his past would’ve been a great treasure trove to start with solid concrete characterization. The conflict in this story was Non-existent. She works for an agency and the head is a bad guy obsessed with her. She escapes the first time then makes it back and guess what? Everything goes without a hitch no real anything to write home about. I kinda wish I didn’t bother reading this. It’s unrealistic that a 5 year old would take to having a whole bunch of men acting as dad, to add another who had only been there for not even a week and him saying it’s his new dad. Idk there were a lot of ways to improve this book it just didn’t do it for me.

Whhhhhyyyyyy???? ::sad face:: I was so excited for this duet (which may not actually be a duet?) to come out and it totally bombed (in the worst way). The storyline is so cool and the events that occur within the book are really well planned as far as timeline is concerned, but everything in between is a total flop (in my opinion) and when the exciting parts finally came, they didn't hit very hard.

The inner dialogues and the narrations are much better in book 2, as are the grammar and sentence building. But it doesn't make up for the poor character development and story building.

General Gist, with major spoilers: It's all very odd.

--Rating - 2 stars - only because I really like the idea of the story. I really hope another author convinces November Sweets to allow them to rewrite this story and give it the makeover it deserves. It would be so good with some better development and planning.
--Steam - 3 stars - the steamy scenes are nice and not cookie cutter, but they're sporadically placed throughout the book and very brief to the point that they don't give you the 'feels'. They're just words on paper....they don't develop in your mind.
--Storyline - 4 stars - so unique, but poorly developed
--Plot Twists - 2 stars - nothing shocking
--Emotional Pull - 1 stars - nothing here
--Writing - 2 stars - difficult to read at times and doesn't flow nicely off the pages. But grammatical errors are far less in this book.
--Denouement - 1 star - we are left with a lot of unanswered questions at the end, not everything is wrapped up.
--Cliffhanger? - No, but Dell does say that this isn't the last you've heard of her story
--HEA? - yeah, but it's nothing special

*Again, I'm really bummed that I didn't like this book more. I was totally anticipating it's release am very disappointed. I know I'm probably in the minority with that feeling, but I'm just trying to be honest.

Zero grovel. Zero. Grovel. WHAT?

Writing did not improve and we had a random sixth mate thrown in around 70% and all anyone could say was that he was "hot." Apparently, there are no other descriptive words for an attractive person. I searched the word "hot" on my kindle and got 40 hits, 29 of those talking about someone being hot.

Dell gets kidnapped by the villain at one point and she escapes, getting back home the next day or so. You'd think she'd go straight to her son, who, the last time she saw him, had a red dot on his forehead while the bad guys had their guns pointed at him and Sam, but no. Seemed like a good time to have sex with two of the guys who ditched her and cheated on her and didn't grovel at all, but okay. Poor Max took a backseat in this one. Momma had better things to do.

Shame.

I’m sorry I just can’t give this book a good rating. It’s just all wrong and I’m confused at some of the reviews already.
It’s just messed up book. It’s just got nothing. Book 1 starts off really good and then it’s like you get lost and confused. It’s badly written. It’s rushed and come on I know it’s supernatural based and RH but seriously I love you after one round of sex pfft!
The plot of the book even though it’s based on supernaturals is just so full of crap.
The cover of the book was what got me to wanna read it and I’m always one for giving a book a chance if it sounds good.
Sometimes reviews don’t help and some do
All I know is it’s up to you to give it a try but don’t expect to find you dropping the book after a few chapters from book 1.
I feel like it needs a do over but that’s up to the author.

Besides all of the half sentences and misplaced commas, the character development is lacking, the sex scenes are too frequent to enhance the plot, it doesn't make sense to me that all the MC's 'mates' aren't bonded to each other as well, as their is more love between them than them each with the MC.
**spoiler below **

The end when River makes a water dildo, and everyone from the 'good guy's side' laughs.. that is straight up sexual abuse and yet earlier in the book the author writes about how terrible it was that Alec had been used by Wren. It would have been funnier and not abuse to make the 'bad guys' feel like they have to pee, which is what I thought at first. Especially for a juvenile as River, as a character, was written.

I don't really understand the interest to add a new guy in the haren, except for more MM🙄 She still caved too quickly. Delphina's character was inconsistent: was she a badass or just an hormonal driven fool? Communication between characters was awful.

My favorite chameleon witch hybrid is back in action in Reckoning and she did not disappoint! Yes, yes I’m still in love with her character, how can you not love Delphina?! She went from sweet and innocent to a force to be reckoned with. In Reckoning our resident assassin faces new challenges and has to make some self-sacrificing moves in order to protect her ever growing family.

We pick up right where we left off with Alec dropping an information bomb on Delph and her guys. In true Delph fashion she takes it in stride and welcomes Alec into her family….but it doesn’t stop there, because in the process Sam gets a happy surprise (one I suspected) and I’m over the moon excited for this development. I love Sam, he’s just so sweet how could you not?! Then because we can’t stop there, Doctor Brad is back in the picture with some crazy news of his own. Oh the twists and turns! I don’t want to go too into detail… But man does November Sweets do an epic job bringing it all together. I love how other characters in the story are brought in more and we get a better glimpse into their story.

All of the characters in this Duet were developed beautifully and there was no lack of emotion-even from the guys. I also couldn’t get enough of the spunky sarcasm and flirting, and often found myself laughing out loud. I will never forget River’s use of his power in the standoff… most epic way I’ve ever heard of an elemental using their powers, I’m not sure anything will ever top it!

The ending was perfection and I love that it hints that this is only the beginning. I want to know who we get more of next? Do we get sweet Sam’s story, or do we get more of the spicy Simone, maybe we get to dive into the Sexy Alpha wolf Silas’ story? I’m hoping we get it all.

This Duet is an easy but addicting read and I can’t wait to see what November Sweets comes out with next!

2.5-3.0 ⭐️

First book was better. Better pace. Not as rushed. Story kept me interested. Although there was still plenty missing in that one too. Anyhoo.

This second book the pace was off, some things felt forced (Dr Brad🙄) and there were parts of it that I wondered why tf the author wrote that into the story.

FMC Dell is a Mary Jane 100% perfect beautiful and now the best assassin in the world who nobody can ever take out bc she is SPECIAL. 🙄ok then.

Also. There is never any real groveling from her mates. No rebuilding trust. Nothing to show the reader they changed and wanted her back. The plot just pushed them together unnaturally fast. This was the first book and still is going on in this second book. Pitiful.

I hated the ending. It all was forced and rushed.
The epilogue was super short and basically just a last chapter. Not a true epilogue letting us see into their future.

I honestly couldn’t keep the men straight. Too many. But not a deal breaker. Just a me thing. BUT. Adding another mate was absolutely stupid. Why?

She had so many other relationships to heal and move forward. It was like the fmc just f@cked a mate, healed the bond and said NEXT!

I was just disappointed in the execution of this story in this book.
It had so much potential. And just fell flat.
From adding an additional mate to not focusing on the relationships being rebuilt to plot holes and rushed writing. Blah. So bummed.

I really hoped that book two would be better than the first. But unfortunately, as the plot went on, it wasn't that intense, that I wanted it to be. It was way too easy. And don't get me wrong: I still enjoyed the book and liked to read it. Otherwise, I would not have finished it, and therefore I wouldn't write a review at all.

So, I state, what I liked. Again, Max is one of the highlights. I loved Alec and of course Sam, and their newly blossoming relationship. Dr. Brad - a good addition. Even, though, the mating and the adaption into the family was too fast and relaxed. I had hoped for a different reaction from the mates. And Simone. I found her funny.

But the rest. Oh, dear. The "villain" wasn't that kind of mastermind. More like a psychotic toddler. The ending again goes too smoothly. No big fight. No big magic performance. That was anticlimactic. The whole plot based on a big villain, that is the head of a killing agency, killed in less than ten pages without much fuss. How could that kind of person stay in power that long? And the soldiers, too, were not a big threat. I mean, River could play with them.

I think the story mostly lacked the big emotions. I mean, she was hurt so long. But Dell comes around that fact way too easy. The men don't have to put much effort in it. It was all fast-paced and solved in one rush. No big deal.

I may enjoyed it anyway, but it leaves me with an anticlimactic feeling. So, I stay with the 3 stars.

Basically read this in 1 go with Betrayal- might have some overlap.

This duet was the perfect "sick in bed and do not want to use my brain" book - and it became obvious when I struggled with the last 20% the next day - really was about to DNF if I wasn't so close to the end. Lots of cringe and eyerolls. Though overall the book was fine as I had already set my expectations.

All characters read like they were in high school (even the 65yo fatherly figures).
Lots of spelling and grammar mistakes.
More miscommunication tropes.
Full of tell, no show.
Information wasnt spoon fed to you, they were shot in your face with a machine gun - the same point iterated over and over again.

Dell basically just took the guys back without a single fight.
Alec went full brother possessive - I will kill anyone who hurts my sister after only meeting her a week ago.
Between Betrayal and first 80% of this book, everything happening within 2 weeks.
Sam complaining how he and Alec were "Going slow, really slow!", that they've only kissed and slept naked - Mate, you met a week ago and then Alec was shot and bedrested.

Biggest issue - SPOILER AHEAD
A group of untrained countryside tattoo artists can infiltrate the Assassins Association head quarters filled with trained security, bodyguards and...assassins...?????????
Not only that, they made a huge effort on making all the MMCs relevant to the "plan"...just for Alec to shoot him in the head.....what?!

I didn't love it as much as the previous book. Wren's character kind of ruined it for me. I love a good villain in a book, but the author dumbed this character down. And it really disappointed me. What started out as a good mystery of who the villain is and what are his motives in the first book... was really ruined in this book. The author dumbed him down to much. At no point in this book would I have taken this character seriously or thought of him as a villain. I don't mind a possessive villain. They make the best kind of villain. But at one point in this story Wren stomped his foot like a tantrum throwing toddler.. and the author even described him as that. I was totally disappointed by that point and beyond believing that this character was supposed to be the bad guy. There was so much potential in the first book that the author could have built on to up the angst in this story with this character. Instead she dumbed him down and made him look like a toddler throwing a fit about not getting his way. So many missed opportunities with this character that could have made this an amazing story.

Dell is a complete bad ass babe, mate, mother just all around complete girl crush! You honestly can’t help but fall in love with the badass assassin with a heart of freaking gold! We pick up right where we left off in book 1 with Alec dropping bombs on Dell and her men and in true Delphina form she takes it all in brushes it off and starts to plot and plan how she is going to protect her family but this time she does not have to face anything alone. Alec, Sam, all her mates including new edition Brad are there to back her up and protect one another. There isn’t anything the guys wouldn’t do for her and their son!

There is plenty of twists and turns from beginning to end to keep you engaged and on the edge of your seat. There is also plenty of fun flirting and amazingly spicy scenes! The ending was completely perfect to conclude this duet and hinting that this is just the beginning and I am here for it!!! I can’t wait to see whose story we get next!!!

Yay for just desserts!

So in this second book of the duet I was pleased with the overall storyline and resolution, but was disappointed by the lack of depth in the characters. I know we get snippets of backstory for Tag, but other than vague generalities we know very little about the guys.

It is awesome that Dell and Alec have now met and are able to start building that brother/sister relationship and that Alec is further tied to the group through his mate. *all the feels*

I wish there had been more group sexy times because there were scenes hinted at that never came to fruition and that's just tragic. Maybe they'll get a novella or something that is jut sexy times as they continue to strengthen the mate bonds between everyone? I would read that in a heartbeat. River, Axel, and Dalton are guys after my own heart on that front. 😏

Meh. I did like all the hot M/M action but the guys were a bunch of simps. You have 2 Alphas of pack.
1. Is the typical grumbling wolf but he doesn’t really do anything.
2. The lion. You think of lions as fierce and protective but all I see is the cowardly lion from Wizard of Oz.
Then you got the 3 others who were not bad but lacking. Ooh and Dr.Brad. He really should have been part of the original 5. I really liked him.
But my favorite male by far is Max. That little pup was adorable. He was a bit too affectionate for me. Kids that just start hugging randos are the kids that get taken. For a mom who is an assassin she really needs to teach her boy street smarts.
As a reader I was left wanting more. More character development, more backstory. For what it’s worth it was an ok duet.

*Overall: 4/5*
A sweet and satisfying end to a new story. The pack dynamics continue to evolve and we feel some of the interpersonal conflicts through this multi-POV story. We wrap up with a little drama, a little conflict, and new characters to keep it interesting.
*Story development: 4/5*
Small things were dropped to the wayside but the main storyline was completed nicely. A couple of small-ish side plots left open but I am always willing to pick up a future book in this universe.
*Writing quality: 3/5*
Some of the same punctuation and grammar errors from the first book persisted but the quality of the story did not suffer.
*Steam level: 3/5*
More steam here from book 1, but still mild compared to others of this genre. To each their own!

Book Review

This is the second in a book duet. The first one is called Betrayal. Both these books are a refreshing change from normal shifter/ mates stoties!! The story that runs through both these books is a nee/ refreshing change on shifters/matrs! The story is so easy to get into and so easy to keep your attention as well. The end has a past with the mmcs, and picks the story of book one straight up at the beginning of book 2. This book is full of mystery and suspense, and full of thrills and spills throughout the book! Trust me when I say these 2 books are a brilliant read, and the author has wrote a wonderful book with a refreshing take on shifters/ mated. This author is new to me, but I will definitely be reading more from this very talented lady!!

Action Packed and Interesting

The second part of the Grimm Brothers’ Duet definitely carried on in the same fashion as book one.

Dell and the guys definitely had an interesting journey. Both in facing the threats against them and in fixing their broken relationship. I feel the guys were a little too go with the flow. There should have been more internal conflict and groveling. It really just seemed like the plot points arose and the guys grumbled about it a bit, but ultimately caved too easily.

The villain was definitely obsessive, but more annoying than anything else. Like a cheesy villain from a teen cartoon.

The spice was nice. Would have loved a group scene, but I know that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Overall it was a great read! Good for someone looking for that betrayal/second chance vibe.
