A drug-related massacre ends with an Amish farm being burnt to the ground in rural Pennsylvania. The victims that survived the incident, must learn how to cope with what they had lost. In a world where they are shunned by their community and treated like aliens in the next, they must partner with an eccentric billionaire to uncover a deeper conspiracy as to why their family was killed.
So many errors that it ruined my reading experience. The plot wasn't very well-thought out, and the characters seemed to be Amish for no real discernable reason. It was unclear who the main character was and whose story it actually was. Tense changes from past tense to present to past again in the space of a few sentences. Not a book I'd recommend.
The story caught me off guard. It’s not your typical crime thriller mixing the quiet simplicity of Amish life with a dark, twisty drug conspiracy. Kind of reminded me of Witness with Harrison Ford. Anyway, the setting made the whole thing unpredictable and tense. It’s gritty, emotional, and weirdly hopeful at the same time.
The book has an engaging plot and could be a very enjoyable read, but has some grammar mistakes that put me off. Needs proofread and edited. The choice of wording at times was rather odd.
As a busy mom, I really enjoyed Old World! The fast-paced action and gripping storyline kept me hooked even with my limited time. It’s a perfect, engaging escape and I can’t wait to finish it!
