Starbound Soul is the last book in the Goblin Star series written by Gama Ray Martinez. The coalition is gearing up for the final battles with the goblins to prevent them from dominating the universe. Radek is learning more about his magic and how to use it. He dislikes going to his lessons because he is frustrated by his lack of progress. The fate of the universe rests on Radek being able to understand and effectively use his magic. Radek is backed up by Ovian, and Brenna; together they use humor, ingenuity, and impulsivity to overcome the obstacles in their path. The greatest tool in their arsenal is their friendship and trust in each other.
I particularly liked the various twists Martinez put into this book. Just when I thought I knew how the book would progress a twist changed the entire trajectory. This happened several times. These twists were unexpected and fun. I also enjoyed the creative problem solving Radek, Ovian, and Brenna used throughout the book. The differences that each of them brought to the problems they faced was often what made it possible to overcome them. This fast paced novel is packed with adventure to the last page. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure novels. Although it is written for a middle grade audience, it is a fun read for adult as well.

This week I ready the Goblin Star series by Gama Ray Martinez. This is a fantasy set in space, and I loved every second of it.

The Series Includes:
Nova Dragon (Goblin Star Book 1)
Runestone Fleet (Goblin Star Book 2)
Twinsun Sea (Goblin Star Book 3)
Starbound Soul (Goblin Star Book 4)

There were multiple times during this series that I burst out laughing, then had to apologize to the people around me. I especially loved the character development, and how much the friendship between the main characters grew and changed as they became more mature.

The entire premise of the series (dragons and other mythical races in space!!!) was an absolute delight. And I loved how the magic system was set up for this universe. I would really like to write in this universe, in fact.

These were written for children (middle school or so), but I loved them very much as an adult. I had zero issues adding them to my kids’ kindle library, and I would highly recommend you get them for your kids!

Fun, Engaging Fantasy Series—In Space!

Another wild ride with our young heroes! It is obvious that the author has put in a lot of thought into the overall plot and ties it all together nicely.

The book felt right at home with the others in the series, but also added new elements that made it stand out. The characters have grown and the finale here shows just how much they have evolved from the beginning. I enjoyed the fast-paced action, the intrigue, and how the threads from the other books all came together.

I am unaware if there is a final book in the series coming out, but if not, this is a fine finale to the saga. If there is, you can bet it will be just as good—if not better—than this one.
